Every time my kids ask for ice cream we drive by a few ice cream locations to Yogurt Island. First, it's family owned and local. Which is important to us. They serve Gunther's Ice Cream, if you do not recognize the name let me share that it is one of the tastiest ice cream with legendary large scoops. Our family travels to Collin's Lake every year, we rave about their ice cream and scoops. Only to find out it's Gunther's. And the fact we have a local location serving Gunther's, so dangerously good! Gunters is from Sacramento and is an icon. There are two dedicated parking spaces right outside Yogurt Island. It's on the same side as Ace hardware, on the corner across from Skippolinis. When you enter my kids immediately get distracted by the giant chalkboard lining the left hand wall. Adding art before they select their treat. They serve great portions and always have a random treat selection. Cotton candy, candy, chips, etc. Bring cash for tip, you can't leave a tip on card. There's a few tables, photo bench, and palm tree head. Hard to explain but when you see it, you can't unsee it. This is our favorite ice cream spot, happy to share a little hidden gem. read more

We were warmly greeted and felt right at home as soon as we walked in.The place itself is cute, clean and comfy. It has a tropical and relaxing vibe. It's a special place with lots of different things to choose from. If you're craving froyo and toppings, ice cream, sundaes, root beer floats, shaved ice well they have you covered. The kids had so much fun writing on the chalkboard and my daughter mentioned a few times just how sweet the owner is. I was in the mood for something sweet, but not just any dessert.. I wanted something special. I searched up nearby places and stumbled upon this gem! Immediately I was greeted with the warmest welcome I have ever had from a business. I felt right at home here. First time walking into this establishment. They introduced me to the menu, offered samples, gave me an idea of all the options I could select from. I am so glad they recommended the banana and peanut butter frozen yogurt. I love bananas. Not a HUGE fan of peanut butter but.. wow. WOW! The flavor was perfect. It was not too strong and just the right amount of sweet treat flavor to satisfy my craving. I was happy the topping selection is huge! The atmosphere is also very delightful. You can tell they love doing what they do. I am sitting out front writing this review and it feels like I have found my new favorite place. As more people walk in they greet them the same as they did me. The two lovely ladies at the front really know how to make a home sweet home environment. I highly recommend you check it out. The portions are also very fair and delicious. Tastes super fresh. LOVE this tiny little fro-yo shop at the end of a strip mall in downtown Oakley. They don't have a ton of flavors (maybe 6 or 8) - but all you need! First: the small is HUGE Second: they always have Original Tart flavor - the best Third: It is super reasonable prices - I wan to say the small is less than $4 Fourth: they do not add a "add tip" to the receipt screen, the cost is the cost, and I hope that means the owners pay and treat their sweet employees well Fifth: The service is always great and friendly! Came in here after a lunch playdate at skips, we've wanted to try this place for some time. I am dairy free when it comes to ice cream for myself and I am gluten free. I always assume I just can't have anything and she reassured me she had some for me. I had Hawaiian sorbet I believe (I don't remember the name) it was very good and refreshing. My kids got mint chocolate chip and rainbow sherbet. What sets this aside from the other places is it's a mix of ice cream, froyo, shaved ice and a few other thing. You have options besides froyo. A cool little surprise she has (when she can get them, remember shortages) color changing spoons for the kids. My kids were testing the spoon in all the ice cream and were so amazed by it and wondered how it worked. It's hot come try some frozen treats to stay cool. read more

Fun little yogurt spot tucked away in Oakley near the Ace Hardware, Yogurt Island has an array of fro yo, ice cream, shaved ice and other treats. Parking is plentiful and the staff is very friendly. It's not serve yourself but they are very generous with their portions and toppings. A small is $5 and definitely seemed more like a medium to me. They have a variety of toppings ($1.25 for two) and it included one of my favorite-toasted coconut! I got half vanilla bean and half strawberry with my coconut topping and was very impressed with the texture and flavor of the yogurt. This used to be my favorite place. Don't know if there's new owners but the last two times I've been in they fill the cup halfway and when I ask them to fill it they tell me then it turns a child's size into a small size and want more money !? Whaaa? I don't mind paying $4 for a child size yogurt but at least give me what I pay for, not 2 tablespoons. I shouldn't have to ask and then get grief from the owner for asking politely. YOU set your prices lady...live up to them. You just lost me as your customer. read more

Yogurt island is great! Every time we go in, we are treated very well. The owners and their staff are extremely friendly and very courteous to us. The blue raspberry and pink cotton candy shaved ice is a great treat for us. We are treated like family. Please go and support your local yogurt/ ice cream/ sorbet/ candy shop!!! Generous servings (they don't even weigh your serving) and generous with their toppings (which are reasonably priced and optional). Staff is friendly and the ambiance has a comfy old town feeling. Walked in with my dairy free family today and the owner greeted us with a smile. Treated us like family and let us know the options they had for us. We took the last two options they had available. (Mango was great!) They don't have a large selection of dairy free but owner let us know that they restock all their dairy free on Mondays/Tuesdays. If you're vegan or dairy free come on Mon/Tue or call ahead to make sure they have what you're looking for. read more

We have kept Yogurt Island old school! We are all about great product-great customer service and overall great experience! Established in 1990.

My husband and I, with the help of his parents, purchased Yogurt Island in October of 2009. YI had already been closed for 2 weeks prior to us purchasing it, so we took that opportunity and remodeled most of the inside and brought it back up to code. We gave it a more up-to-date look without changing any of the original set-up. It's not a fancy shop, never has been, and we didn't want to completely change the look that Yogurt Island has had for 20+ years. The old owner was tired and just couldn't do it anymore and unfortunately the look of the business said it all. We finally re-opened Yogurt Island's doors Feb. 28, 2010 and we have received nothing, but compliments on all of our hard work. Everything that you see (and don't see i.e. the back area) was done either by us, my husband's parents, or my brother. It helps you appreciate it a lot more when it's your blood, sweat, and tears in it. We hope everyone will come back and visit the newly re-done (& clean) Yogurt Island.

Maybe she was just having a bad day, which I can understand, but the delivery didn't feel very welcoming. I want to emphasize that I have no issue paying for water at all; in fact, I planned to go back to the car after ice cream to get water since we parked nearby. It was just the way it was said that didn't sit well. I didn't say anything at the moment since I understand everyone can have off days, but I do think consistency in how customers are spoken to is important--others might not take that tone as lightly. When I sat down, another staff member came over and offered my family water. If you happen to read this--thank you. Your kindness really meant a lot to us. Overall, we still enjoy coming here for the great ice cream, generous portions, and the cozy atmosphere. I pulled up and the attendant inside saw my headlights and walked over to the door and turned on the closed sign. I get it, they want to go home too.
