Every time my kids ask for ice cream we drive by a few ice cream locations to Yogurt Island. First, it's family owned and local. Which is important to us. They serve Gunther's Ice Cream, if you do not recognize the name let me share that it is one of the tastiest ice cream with legendary large scoops. Our family travels to Collin's Lake every year, we rave about their ice cream and scoops. Only to find out it's Gunther's. And the fact we have a local location serving Gunther's, so dangerously good! Gunters is from Sacramento and is an icon. There are two dedicated parking spaces right outside Yogurt Island. It's on the same side as Ace hardware, on the corner across from Skippolinis. When you enter my kids immediately get distracted by the giant chalkboard lining the left hand wall. Adding art before they select their treat. They serve great portions and always have a random treat selection. Cotton candy, candy, chips, etc. Bring cash for tip, you can't leave a tip on card. There's a few tables, photo bench, and palm tree head. Hard to explain but when you see it, you can't unsee it. This is our favorite ice cream spot, happy to share a little hidden gem. read more

We were warmly greeted and felt right at home as soon as we walked in.The place itself is cute, clean and comfy. It has a tropical and relaxing vibe. It's a special place with lots of different things to choose from. If you're craving froyo and toppings, ice cream, sundaes, root beer floats, shaved ice well they have you covered. The kids had so much fun writing on the chalkboard and my daughter mentioned a few times just how sweet the owner is. I was in the mood for something sweet, but not just any dessert.. I wanted something special. I searched up nearby places and stumbled upon this gem! Immediately I was greeted with the warmest welcome I have ever had from a business. I felt right at home here. First time walking into this establishment. They introduced me to the menu, offered samples, gave me an idea of all the options I could select from. I am so glad they recommended the banana and peanut butter frozen yogurt. I love bananas. Not a HUGE fan of peanut butter but.. wow. WOW! The flavor was perfect. It was not too strong and just the right amount of sweet treat flavor to satisfy my craving. I was happy the topping selection is huge! The atmosphere is also very delightful. You can tell they love doing what they do. I am sitting out front writing this review and it feels like I have found my new favorite place. As more people walk in they greet them the same as they did me. LOVE this tiny little fro-yo shop at the end of a strip mall in downtown Oakley. They don't have a ton of flavors (maybe 6 or 8) - but all you need! Came in here after a lunch playdate at skips, we've wanted to try this place for some time. I am dairy free when it comes to ice cream for myself and I am gluten free. I always assume I just can't have anything and she reassured me she had some for me. I had Hawaiian sorbet I believe (I don't remember the name) it was very good and refreshing. My kids got mint chocolate chip and rainbow sherbet. What sets this aside from the other places is it's a mix of ice cream, froyo, shaved ice and a few other thing. You have options besides froyo. A cool little surprise she has (when she can get them, remember shortages) color changing spoons for the kids. Fun little yogurt spot tucked away in Oakley near the Ace Hardware, Yogurt Island has an array of fro yo, ice cream, shaved ice and other treats. Parking is plentiful and the staff is very friendly. It's not serve yourself but they are very generous with their portions and toppings. A small is $5 and definitely seemed more like a medium to me. They have a variety of toppings ($1.25 for two) and it included one of my favorite-toasted coconut! I got half vanilla bean and half strawberry with my coconut topping and was very impressed with the texture and flavor of the yogurt. Don't know if there's new owners but the last two times I've been in they fill the cup halfway and when I ask them to fill it they tell me then it turns a child's size into a small size and want more money !?
