Sol is as good as it gets. To preface, I've been practicing (and just recently got RYT-200…read morecertified) for 10+ years. Having been to many studios over the years, I've become quite discerning. Yoga isn't cheap and I'm picky about where I practice yoga for that reason. Much of my practice takes place at home but that's about to change now that I moved to Frederick. Stopped in over the weekend to give Sol a try and purchased the 2-week new student special for $25. I've taken two classes already, gentle yoga and a vinyasa flow (all levels). Wonderful vibe, excellent instructors, tons of class offerings/workshops and reasonable prices. They offer all sorts of options; if you're not interested in packages you can drop in and they offer discounted rates for some of their classes, just check the schedule. You can pay online or in person. I love that they offer complementary hot tea, by local tea shop Voila which is only minutes down the road. I've reviewed them as well (5 stars.. amazing tea). Not only am I so happy to now be living in Frederick, but the icing on the cake is that I have a wonderful yoga studio I can come to all the time to help me sustain my personal practice. Helpful tip: there's a parking lot in the back, it's on the left side of Patrick St right before you get to Sol. It's free :)

I've been coming here for pre-natal yoga classes and so far, I really like the instructors and…read moreclasses. I'd never done yoga before but I figured pre-natal classes wouldn't be too hard since we fatsos can't move too quickly. Well, the instructors make sure you move and change poses carefully but that doesn't mean you don't get a workout! Particularly after Keri's class, I left with sore muscles and feeling like I'd had my first real workout in months! The front desk staff is very friendly and you can rent mats or buy water there. They also offer tea, which is a nice touch. If you're worried about your class filling up, making resevations via the online system is a breeze. I don't have other studios to compare Sol Yoga to but the rooms are large so that people aren't jammed in next to each other. The building also has its own parking lot in back which is almost unheard of in downtown Frederick. Namaste!

Thanks to her sessions, I have survived some of the most hectic times. I am so excited to see her open her studio focusing on the yoga/meditation and self improvement aspect. Larisa has the best style. She has tailored sessions for our classes and is intuitive when it comes to what we need to focus on. My day goes a lot better when I can fit in a class with her and now that she's offering private sessions and overnight retreats, I can enjoy a condensed get away with a couple close friends. Her new studio is about a 45 minute drive for me but perfect for being able to unwind from life's chaos and enjoy the scenery. I love the views into the trees and downtown Frederick is only about 10 minutes away to get a bite to eat afterwards or make a day trip out of it.

I've received counseling and coaching from Larissa through some of my most trying emotional times. Additionally, I've had nothing but great experiences through multiple retreats with Larissa. Every time I have a session with Larissa I feel better physically and spiritually and I recommend her to just about anyone I know who I think would benefit. Awesome place!! My climbing buddy and I came to the Boulder Yard after all of our friends kept…read moresaying "Just go!!!" So we made a day trip of it. First, Steve, the owner, is great. He chatted with us for a really long time, asking about what we were interested in, why we popped in, and on and on. He also told us his own history and the Boulder Yard's history. He gave us a few specific suggestions and ideas, including that his sets are a bit different than most (they are) and, more important, his floor cushioning is very different than most other gyms. It is. It is much MUCH softer than most which is good but he suggested taking a few falls before we went too high just to get used to the feel. It's also like walking on the beach --- walking from one side of the room to the other will wear out your legs. His walls are not textured (mostly) so if you're planning to smear a lot --- well, you won't. But it is more realistic this way. The majority of the place is boulders but he's also got two workout areas with equipment, two separate rooms that he uses to teach some martial arts (didn't catch what kind), and, for the helluvit, a Nintendo/Playstation/whatever setup for, I guess, if you're tired and just want to zone a bit. We'll absolutely be back. We paid $54 for two day passes; quite reasonable I think. Oh, and he does his own woodworking (as do my partner and I). Took a pic of the large benches in the front of his shop. Hand-made from some trees that he grabbed from his own yard. That was cool!!!

Tucked away in the back of an industrial park, this gym offers some great bouldering. Clean, quaint…read moreand a cozy vibe for the experienced and new climber alike.
