The service was quick for the size of the party we had with very little mistake that tend to happen with larger parties and if there was a problem, they were prompt to fix the issue. Now let's get to the food... If you're looking for food actual soul, I'm talking about the food that makes you close your eyes or do a little dance, this is the spot for you. The food here shows you the distinction of what soul food is supposed to taste like by reminding you with each bite how flavor is the most important piece to any dish. You can see the seasoning and if you cook you understand the importance of that statement. All the food was good here and my family was singing many praises about it and I'm sure if you go you'll do the same.

I ordered the chicken and waffles and wow wow it was delicious! 10/10 and perfection in my opinion. Mywow wow got the Belgian waffle and the breakfast burrito - both shared their food was good, but nothing amazing or something they would come again for. The waffle came with a butter that did not melt and had an odd consistency, like it had separated and frozen. Overall the services was alright. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive in the beginning, but seemed to struggle once it got busier. It took some time to get a bill and we were supposed to get a free slice of cheesecake because it was someone's birthday, but it never came and it didn't feel worth it to mention. I would come back to try the shrimp and grits or to get the chicken and waffles again! Not sure about other food, but plan to try this spot again once they've been around a little longer.

All I can say is amazing. Just need bigger tables for the portion sizes. Keep up the good work.read more

For breakfast, I feel like it's kind of pricey, which is quite a statement for me because I usually go to a place that's even more expensive. They do give you a lot of food here. Today I ordered a breakfast burrito without the tortilla, when it came out, it seemed like it was mostly eggs, hardly any cheese, any chorizo any potatoes. When the waitress came by and asked how it was, I said it's OK. I ate maybe a quarter of it because it just wasn't that good. ate the toast and then when she came back, she asked me if I wanted another diet Coke. I said I'll take it to go. She asked if I wanted a box. I said no, it really wasn't that good. She said I'm sorry. Never asked if she could get me something else or offered to take part of it off my bill, nothing. Ironically, the last time I was in there, I believe the owner came up to me and asked me if everything was OK, and I said yeah, it was good, and I would be back, and she said that's great. Well, I can't say the same thing about today. I won't be back. I don't mind when something's expensive, especially when you get a lot of food and it's good, but when the food isn't even good, why bother?

I heard it's way busier during fair week or when bigger events are going on at the race track so just something to be aware of. They have breakfast and lunch options. I went for the country breakfast 2 eggs option which also came with choice of potatoes, choice of meat, and toast. Hash browns were cooked perfectly and crispy and my over medium eggs were cooked perfect as well. My bf got the biscuits el rancho and we split 1 pancake. All very good! We took leftovers in one box and he got another huge meal out of the leftovers. Breakfast came out to be less than $30 for both of us plus we both ordered coffees and pops. So super good pricing. I'll definitely be back. Our server was super friendly and efficient as well.

This is the burger I believe all others should be measured against. It's the best most well balanced burger I've ever had and crave when it's time for a burger. Each bite is a beautiful balance. They dice the onions and the pickles, so no bite is interrupted, by your onion falling apart or an over amount of pickle. I've driven over 1100 miles and 16 hours for this burger and will do it again. Make sure to come hungry when ordering or at least bring a friend to share. The burger arrives on an 8 or 9 inch roll, it's the size of a small pizza, but for $13 it's a deal even more so if you decide to split it. Back in the day they used to keep record of how many were consumed in a sitting and they can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it was 2 1/2. Maybe you won't agree it's the best burger ever, but I'm sure you won't regret it. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating. Many fresh baked goods for take home as well and they make really great breakfast and have daily specials also. If you live this close by consider adding this to your rotation of places to go. I don't have that luxury, but eat here every time I'm in the area.

I had read on a Facebook group about best Burgers in Grand Rapids that O'Briens was a couple of peoples favorite burger. I ordered the Rodeo Burger ($17). The burger itself was tasty enough, but a little meh. The onion ring was very good, the veggies were fresh, the Chipotle Bbq sauce was meh. Overall an above average burger that hits the spot, but you won't have dreams of it. It came with a ton of excellent fries though. I couldn't eat them all, but I wanted too. The service was super friendly and very efficient. Kept my drink nice and full, I appreciate that. Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? Yes, but I would try something else.
