Ever since I moved from Marin to Sonoma, I've had a hard time looking for cheap Chinese, but I think I found it, thanks to my cobot! Its a lil place that can be easy to miss since its in the Windsor shopping center near Raley's. I came for the lunch special and this place was packed for the lunch hour. We were seated and handed menu and out order was take in less than 5 mintues. A couple minutes later I got the TASTIEST chicken chow fun placed in front of me, seriously haven't had chow fun this good in a while. It was hot and had the best flavor to it. It came with a side of fried rice and a crab puff. My cobot got a spring roll for his side (which I may get next time). I munched my way through my noodles and still had leftovers (yes)! I've been going to Yinkeng for many years. I love their crab meat dumplings and green beans and beef. Fiance likes the lemon chicken, and we both enjoy beef chow mein. The pot stickers are amazing! Delicious. Satisfying. Authentic. So much better than Panda Express - yeah, I know : Panda is to Taco Bell what Yinkeng is to taquerias. We had orange chicken, Szechwan eggplant, kung pao chicken, jade prawns and potstickers. Orange chicken had a delicious darker sauce with lightly fried leg meat. Kung Pao was right on par. Jade prawns was a nice sautéed broccoli, ginger and garlic dish. Eggplant was just what we were looking for! Potstickers had a thicker skin than we were used to and carried a bit more of the grease than expected. The best part was the fortune! read more

Food was good and flavorful but there is not much worse then enjoying a nice meal and to be dying of thirst. Our waitress never checked on us to see how the meal was or if we needed anything else. When our last dish arrived our water glasses were empty. My wife asked for more water but we never got a refill even tho she walked past our table several times and even cleared the table behind us but not once did she even make eye contact or look at our table. I noticed that our friends at a near by table were also tipping empty water glasses to their lips. Our leftovers were packaged by another person and we sat for about 10 min waiting for the bill to be picked up. I had to walk it to the counter and wait for that person to finish a telephone order. We will try Yinkeng again and hope the service is a bit better. We have eaten there as long as Yinkeng has been around and we have lived in Windsor (1994). Everything else was good. But I really hate it when I am made to go thirsty. I hope the new owners will have a talk with the staff on giving all of their tables a quick look whenever they are in the dining room. Hubby and I have liked this restaurant ever since we moved here in 2013. (I keep hearing negative things about the cleanliness of their kitchen but I don't believe it or let it influence me.) The food is great and so is the service. My favorites are the Mongolian Beef, Cashew Chicken and Veggie Moo Shu. The same people are always working here and they are efficient, good-humored and fast! There's always a table available even though this place is fairly busy. The prices are very reasonable too. I have no complaints at all except I wish they delivered! With all that , I'm sorry to say I'm disappointed this weekend I had ordered 4 dishes for pick up Friday early evening for dinner Marco Polo prawns , chowmein ,Szechuan beef, and Mongolian beef , my Mongolian beef was more like Mongolian vegetables! We ordered to go on the spot and they had us waiting there for about an hour; when we complained it turned out part of the order was there sitting waiting on us and the other part of the order was rushed afterwards. After all these problems, they still managed to get our order wrong and we had to go back to complain just so that they wouldn't believe us. So glad this place is back open. It caused quite a stir in Windsor when it closed. The menu is a bit different event now. You can tell the staff and kitchen are getting ramped up. It's to be expected with a new staff. I love that their food is super saucy or goopy as I've had from other places in the past. I really like their Szechuan chicken. We always get potstickers for my 2 yr old. He inhales them. It's nice having a place like this so close to home as I live down the street. Decided to go again... --- There are better options for Chinese, even if you have to drive further. It's worth it to go somewhere else. I hadn't been to this spot for a while because I remembered never being very impressed. Well a few days ago I was in the area and realized I was craving some Chinese food so I walked in the door and ordered one of their lunches to go. They were having a Honey Walnut Prawn lunch special which is a dish I usually enjoy. I had to throw it away after a few bites. The prawns were CLEARLY old; the fishiness was overwhelming. I spent the rest of the day worried I was going to get sick (fortunately I did not). So disappointed compared to the past. Our recent take-out order I could barely eat as the ingredients seemed stale if not down right unsafe. In truth I only ate a tiny bit and threw the rest out. I have always found the food delicious up until now. When they first re-opened I thought the food was better than ever, but can't recommend the take-out during covid-19 I hate to say. Loved going to this place for over 30 years; alas, it recently changed ownership and it just is not the same. The portions are smaller and more expensive than before, the menu is much smaller but worst of all is the owner is very pushy and tries to upsell everything. We hardly could look at the menu when we went there in January, 2020 because she kept trying to push the more expensive items. I really can't understand the 3 or 4 star reviews here, this is the most disgusting Chinese meal I've had - period! I ordered the Mongolian beef. Their lunch specials include a bowl of soup. Well, the soup was a thick black goopy mess, I literally couldn't swallow it. The beef had been stir fried with what must've been an entire bottle of soy sauce which was then poured onto the plate and saturated the rice and noodles so I couldn't eat those either! I would've been better off pouring the salt shaker down my throat and this from somebody who loves salt and savory! Hot and sour soup was neither..was sweet. Pork and vegetables was fried pork chunks with no sauce whatsoever. Cashew Chicken was good but the carrots were 1" chunks and hard (nearly raw). Today I was there after the reopening. I've read the initial reviews and I felt I needed to add my own The lunch special menu has been scaled back quite a bit. But mostly reasonable at $9. The Hot and Sour soup was HOT. I had to keep a couple napkins close to clear my nose. Even then very good My entree was Shredded pork with garlic sauce. With both fried rice and chow mein. The chow mein included water Chestnuts which is indicative of first quality. I could eat about half. A great value. I hope the menu choices increase though. This was my first visit to this restaurant to meet a friend who recommended it. It's a small place with no more than a dozen tables. It's a pretty bare interior with wooden tables/chairs and nothing to soften the sound. There was a large group (about 8) of senior ladies seated near the front by the door and the sound carried through the place so that it was very loud. Fortunately they were at the end of their lunch so it quieted down once they left. There are a variety of luncheon options at reasonable prices ($12-14). I chose snow peas with prawns which came with a soup (won-ton or sweet and sour), a scoop of rice/vegetables, and noodles. My won-ton soup was good and the prawn dish was delicious with a light sauce giving it flavor. My companion chose sweet and sour pork and was totally unhappy. She claimed the sauce was different from a year ago and even questioned if the chef had changed (no). She didn't eat any of it. My tai tea (different spelling from Thai) was also good and looked just like Thai tea. So... perhaps the selections are not consistently prepared or my companion was having an off day. I love how they seem to have regulars that they know by name, that is always a good sign. They are more than happy to make you something that is not on the menu if you ask. A customer ahead of me wanted beef and bok choy only and they made it no problem at all. I ordered vegetable stir fry rice and I do not care for baby corn or the mushrooms they use ;so I asked for white mushrooms and broccoli to be substituted and it was a dollar extra . My order was great and although nearly $9.00 just for rice, it was enough for the next day or too share with a friend. I already had bbq pork at home to go with it. Ok, so the place isn't the most stylish and the servers act as prep cooks in the middle of the dining area but they were pleasant and friendly and took our order quickly. The decor may be dated, but it was traditional and "you don't monkey with tradition!" The food was delivered quickly and was edible so I don't quite get what some other reviewers are experiencing. They served my favorite, orange chicken, and it wasn't bathed in the traditional gelatinous glop that other restaurants usually serve it in. This isn't a big city, fine dining restaurant, Yinkeng is a small town dining experience who's been in business a long time. If they are doing something wrong, then they would have closed their doors a long time ago. Just ask the frozen yogurt shop next store who is recently no longer open.
