Omg. Literally like a 15 year old school girl OMG. This place is so good. Listening to other patrons it sounds like this is under new ownership. I ordered something called Mushy Pork. It was amazing. With the sweet sauce I added a little Spivey sauce (red stuff on the table, not like smeared on the table but in a little jar) and red usually means hot and it does. Sorry I had to stop and wipe the tears. Maybe a little less on next bite. Ok back on track. I've never had this dish before. I mean come on if they don't have it at Panda my palette is pretty limited. I just liked at the ticket it is labeled as Moo Shu Pork.still good no mater what they call it. When I first walked in I was greeted and seated. She served me the green tea ( which let's be honest I probably didn't need all four cups before bed time, but I drank anyway) and then she went over her favorites. I picked the dish because ( you know I don't really know why I'm not usually adventurous) but dang was it good. I will be back. I will bring Co-workers, I will bring my wife (maybe not we live 200 miles away) but my point is still valid ( and honey I would bring you if you really wanted to go to wine country, spend the night drinking too much and than craved great food). Average chinese food prepared quickly and they've never gotten an order wrong, however every time we go and get the same things it's a different price. Now I'm aware they've been increasing their prices over the last 2 years. Not worth the money now. Panda express is closer and cheaper if I want mediocre chinese. read more

Hesitant to try the new ownership, I called and placed a phone order. The woman on the phone answered, took my prefer and stated it would be ready in 15 mins. I showed up about 20 mins later, walked in and my order was ready and I was on my way. The food was delicious! Only complaint is that the potstickers are half the size they used to be. read more

This place has outlasted about a dozen other Chinese restaurants from Santa Rosa to Healdsburg, simply because they put out a decent, value priced bunch of Chinese food. The place is nothing special, you will leave smelling like a Chinese Restaurant but satiated. They have the usual Americanized dishes, but if you want a stellar meal, just tell them that you want the cook to put together 4 or 5 dishes for you. Most of the stuff off the menu is real safe, but seasoned good, the quantity of the food is sufficient that you can take some home for lunch the next day. I usually judge a place on their Wor Won Ton soup, and this one is full of flavor including scallions, cilantro, bbq pork slices and plenty of flavorful dumplings. This one is a always order for me,along with their fried prawns which are usually 21-25's. Other places most of the time pawn off even smaller sizes, and cover them with batter. The service is good and there is never a problem parking. The place is usually crowded most of the time, which is probably because of the lack of good Chinese places in the area. Another stellar one is Chinois, but that is more "fusion" than good ol Chinese food you are usually use to. It is worth a visit also. read more

Yinkeng is my favorite local Chinese food restaurant. Their Hot and Sour soup is the best I've had. Lunch specials are awesome, always enough that I take some home. Dinner menu is great as well. We made reservations do have a large family dinner here for Christmas. When called to make the reservations over a week in advance and tried to order a peiking duck. They told us to call the day before to order the duck. When we called the day before they said they needed more notice and we couldn't have a duck with little apology given. Our local Chinese Restaurant is doing take out only during our current troubles. We just finished a meal and I have to say it was the best we have ever had from this restaurant. They have sure been through their share of trials with the fires, their remodel and now the pandemic. We had Szechwan Beef, Mongolian Chicken, Chow Mein and Fried Rice. and all were done perfectly and very tasty. We have always had great meals from them and are delighted that they continue to excel. A good place to go for a cheap lunch. We have been here twice in the last year and both times the food and the service were better than we expected from a strip mall joint. I think since the new owners took over the restaurant a year ago it definitely lost some of its appeal. I am trying to be reasonable...Obviously COVID must have created unimaginable stresses in the past 12 months, however, after trying it several times for takeout we noticed that the service and food are not of the same quality. On one occasion after showing up to get my order they had no knowledge of it so I had to wait in order for them to prepare it. Other times I had to wait for it even though nobody else was in the restaurant. Recently we ordered three different dishes and they all seemed over cooked. (Not the first time). The prawns were rubbery, the pot stickers were dry and brown and the vegetables looked like the pre cut frozen ones you buy at the store vs. fresh ones. They didn't have much flavor except for sodium. Prices are about the same. I think the old food was definitely better. Must be time to look for a different Chinese restaurant in the area. read more

Really disappointed at how bland the food was. Gave it two stars because it looked fresh and good, but the taste just wasn't there. Used to eat here years ago and upon moving back to the area thought this would become our go to Chinese place. Not happening. 1) I was worried why my 2 year old wasn't going to be able to eat the hot and sour soup and was surprised to see him gobbling it down. Upon tasting it I discovered it was sweet?!?! No spice whatsoever and lacking that vinegar that gives it sourness, so I don't have a clue how this would qualify as hot and sour soup it was bland and boring. Though in it's defense it wasn't watery, and there was lots of veggies and whole 2 over cooked shrimp. 2) Sweet and sour pork was aptly described by my husband as, wet fried pork. Not sweet, not sour. I'm sensing this is an issue for the chef as he struggled with the hot and sour concept of the soup too. 3) Were huge mushu lovers. So imagine my surprise to open the mushu container to find not a single piece of cabbage, which is the basis of this dish, but an abhorrent amount of bean sprouts?!?!? And only a small smattering of pork, and yep little flavor. Super bummed again, as I've never seen mushu prepared this way. 4) The cashew chicken was lacking....what's that you say???? Yes like every other dish, it needed a stinking backbone. It needed chili, ginger, soy sauce, heck I don't know, I'm not a Chinese food chef, but obviously nether is the cook at this restaurant. Again, no flavor and boring. Well that's the bulk of it...the chow main was forgettable but edible. I can't seem to figure out how they've stayed in business so long, maybe the people of Windsor are more into the look of the food then the taste?? Well stick to Royal China, which has way better quality and flavor. Also...I thought it was pretty standard for Chinese restaurants to not use MSG as so many people have negative reactions to it. This place still uses it and caused me to sit and wait while they re prepared my food. read more

I first discovered YinKeng about 6 years ago. At first I was iffy, the dishes I normally order at most chinese restaurants I didn't exactly enjoy when I ordered them here. Then I discovered their seschwan (sp?) beef. Cooked to perfect crispiness, it is my favorite meal here. Their potstickers and prawns are also very good. The best deal by far here is their lunch specials, which they even offer on Saturday. It averages about $7.50 for soup, an entree, an appetizer, tea, fried rice, and chow mein. A very good deal! After having the conversation that where was not a close "good" chinese food restaurant around, I decided to test out Yinkeng. if you have not tried this place yet, start yourself off by stopping in for lunch. it is easy to get out of the door under $11 with tip. I have had the broccoli beef- the meat is tender and flavorfull, the broccoli is always fresh. the won ton soup is pretty darn good for a basic staple. having dinner here a few times i was somewhat dissapointed, but it is one of the few Chinese places around, so take out is OK. but again, lunch is way better for the price. the staff is always rock solid, and everyone has been there for a while. read more

I have to agree with the last 2 reviews. I have been eating at Yinkeng for the last 10 years about every other month with the exception of the last 6 months. I decided to order take out and was so disappointed. The food was barely edible and ended up in the garbage. What has happened to this place that used to be so good? I also noticed how the interior has become old and worn out. Sorry it has become this way since it is our only Chinese restaurant choice in Windsor. read more

SO i haven't had chinese food for a few years...crazy! Was in Windsor and really had a craving. Ordered some shrimp and veg and some noodles for my bf. The shrimp and veg was not greasy, but had zero flavor...but honestly...not bad. The noodles were ok, not enough chicken. Fast forward a week. Re-tried. Paid extra for more chicken for the same noodles, they were super greasy this time. I ordered fried tofu with veg, spicy...heavy, greasy. But, i couldn't wait for the hot and sour soup! It was thick like a gravy...but sweet like sweet and sour sauce with a combination of brown gravy. It was THE WORST EVER...sorry. Ive made hot and sour soup before way better than this. I just put it down the garbage disposal...THAT KINDA BAD. I'll continue looking. read more

We have used this place for many years. Tonight was their very worst. Mushu vegetable is beansprouts with a couple of strings some kind of a mushroom? Really? Rice was not sticky, egg foo yong was boring, prawns just ok. Not sure I will return. Royal China is a hike, but the food is fabulous. read more
