This place is a little hidden gem in Rancho. It takes a little bit of more time after ordering your rolls because they make there sushi rolls fresh. The service is nice and the ambiance is relaxing. We'd never been to Yi Sushi before but saw they had just reopened for service for the first time in three years and have new owners. We are so glad we tried it. Came here for happy hour today and glad that the prices are good 3 PM to 6 PM every day of the week. The menu selection was very good and I like the fact that for specialty rolls they have pictures, always a bonus I ordered the Rancho roll in the picture it's the one with the jalapeño and the tempura shrimp roll. I was surprised the tempura shrimp roll came with lettuce and was skeptical at first but it all came together quite nicely. The jalapeños on the Rancho roll are not pickled and gave it a nice kick. The spicy mayo is not even that spicy at all. I must say I'm not a big fan of heat but all the flavors came together quite nicely. I was greeted upon entering, there was seats available and the restaurant was clean. Always a bonus when the ladies restroom is clean. My two rolls were filling, fresh and less than $11 for both at happy hour prices. I'll be back to venture out and try other things off their menu. read more

This review is based on a delivery order (thru Uber Eats) and WOW! I've never wanted to visit an establishment so much after ordering delivery from them! Even with a large $100+ order, food arrived not only on time, but 10 minutes ahead of schedule. My other sushi delivery orders usually arrive in modest Styrofoam containers, but Yi Sushi packaged their sushi in decorative & recyclable sushi containers. Instantly perfect and presentable for a dinner party! As for the food: 1) I've never heard of a sweet shrimp specialty roll anywhere else, and 2) the execution on the sweet shrimp roll was perfect. So creamy and melt-in-the-mouth with that subtle yet distinctive amaebi sweetness. While I enjoyed all the items that I ordered, this was definitely a standout item for me. I also ordered the Tri-color (comes with 2 pieces each of albacore, tuna, and salmon nigiri/sashimi) and it was perfect for sharing with my fiancé. Their Rolls Combination menu is a great way to taste multiple sushi rolls in one order. The stuff tomato was a great appetizer (I would describe it as being like hotate nigiri, except replace the seaweed with tuna - yum!) but there was huge variability in how much wasabi each piece had. I didn't even taste wasabi my first piece, so I was surprised when my second piece flooded my senses with wasabi! All-in-all, great food and excellent sushi! I am looking forward to the next time I have a meal with Yi Sushi. read more

This is probably my fave sushi place in RSD San Diego area. What an adorable sushi bar ! I like the decors, Buddhas and Japanese dolls. This place hit the spot. I came by today and sat at the bar and was served quickly . I ordered salmon teriyaki and it comes with rice, miso or salad. It was cook to perfection I really loved it so tasty and literally melts in my mouth ! Yum ! It was worth it,$9.00 lunch specials. I would definitely coming back to try their sushi Rolls and other variety of sashimi and appetizers . CS friendly staff and very attentive to customers. My boyfriend and I came in for some late night sushi & decided to try this place out just for something new & we will be back! You seriously can't beat the prices for what you get. I ordered the chicken friend rice which came with a side salad AND miso soup all were great. Additionally, tried the star wars roll which was bomb. My boyfriend got the star wars and a crunchy and he loved both (the crunchy was his favorite). Our server was the absolute sweetest, very attentive and patient wish we grabbed her name. I was expecting to sit inside but they're only doing take out at the moment. I ordered seaweed salad, baked mussels,spider roll, San Diego roll, seared salmon roll, spicy tuna roll and a crunch roll. The mussels were delicious but a little cold by the time I got home (5 mins later). All of the rolls were very fresh, but a little warm due to them being with the mussels. I would highly recommend the San Diego roll. The seaweed salad was heavenly and fresh. What I liked is that they put all of our rolls and salad on one platter instead of separate containers. Wife and I came on a Sunday, and were happy to find out that from 3p-6p everyday they have a sushi happy hour menu. Great prices and great selection! We got a tempura shrimp roll and a bubu roll, both of which were perfect and tasty as heck. We also each got "small" bowl of udon soup, and it was amazing and rich. For desert we split a tempura peanut butter and jelly and a tempura cheesecake. OMG!!! This is our new favorite sushi place in the whole county, and its literally a block away from my house. I like the casual, clean, bright atmosphere of the dining room. The food was good too. I had the San Diego roll and the East County roll, so you could say I was repping for the local area code. The spicy mayo had some kick to it. Only demerit? All the TVs tuned to the Sunday Night Football game were on one wall of the restaurant. Also I've been eating raw fish and sushi for most of my life and that fish on the roll was old. Definetly messed up to serve it in the first place but to charge $12.95 for it. We also discovered that the soy sauce was gross as well :/ San Diego roll was the best out of the 3, good combo of flavors but as my boyfriend put it "I thought fish swam in the sea, but apparently they also swim in the sauce here" Hot hot roll was the "freshest" , but you mostly taste citrus and spice. Might as well bring you chips cause its like a month full of salsa. Our waitress was pretty good but a big fan of fly bys (come in, drop something off, and kept going) oh, and for some reason when she filled up our glasses at the end. I haven't dined in but I've ordered through Postmates quite a few times during the pandemic! My order is always right and super delicious ~ I typically get the mango shrimp roll (pls try its delicious and refreshing, the salmon skin roll (eel sauce is to die for) and lastly a miso soup to wash it all down. Absolutely have loved this place since they've opened up in rancho san diego! I love the friendly service everytime I do come here. The staff is super attentive to each and every customer that walks in. The sushi is absolutely 100% fresh. I have never had one bad experience coming here. The menu options are phenomenal. I've gotten to try most of the rolls here and they do not disappoint. I love how affordable this restaurant is compared to others. I believe I bought 8 rolls when I purchased a platter for only $51. I ordered Sushi special for $15 so not worth it. The fish was cut freakishly thick...it was so gross to put inside my mouth. The yellow tail and salmon sashimi were good, the other pieces of fish not so. Tuna was old and dry. I am now in fear that I might spend the night besides the toilet. Had a softball game in Rancho and stumbled upon this cute little place. At first the ambience was cute, but a little too bright. The music was also strange and I guess it was a complete album by the same artist. Our Crunch Rolls came out first before the spicy garlic edamame and miso soup. There were so many crunchies on the rolls, that you couldn't even see the sushi underneath it. Ingredients didn't taste fresh and rolls fell apart as soon as you handled them! Got our Spider Rolls and the crab was warm, not room temp but from the microwave warm. Gross. And they put so many more crunchies on those that you couldn't even tell where the first roll stops and the next one starts. I did have a tiny stomachache the rest of the night. Proof that "you get what you pay for" is a myth. I get that it's take-out only, now, but I've never seen any restaurant be less cordial than the lady at this joint. I would've been less critical had she thrown the bag at me. The food was mediocre if I'm being extremely kind. I hope those were egg shells in my fried rice even though I didn't see any egg after things got crunchy. The noodles were bland & overcooked to a gelatinous state. This place is definitely over-priced. I can't believe I paid almost $50 for the lunchtime experience. 1 star because I can't give zero & 1 star because at least the spicy tuna was good. read more
