Food was fresh and high in quality. Case in point, I had the Macho roll - Krab, crème cheese, jalapeño center, eel sauce and shiracha outer.....delish. Combined with the Spicy Sesame Ramen which bolstered quality noodles, boiled egg, pork, green onions and mushrooms, and a creamy spicy broth. If you're looking for a low-key gem with top-tier sushi, Yi Sushi is it. We ordered a little bit of everything--sushi, fresh oysters, and salmon collar--and every single bite was a 10/10. The sushi was incredibly fresh, the oysters were perfectly chilled and briny, and the salmon collar was beautifully cooked--crispy on the outside, tender and buttery inside. What really stood out, though, was the service. Our server surprised us with a sake on the house and told us to enjoy it alongside the oysters. That kind of thoughtful touch just elevated the whole experience. Everything about this place--from the food to the vibe to the people--is worth recommending. Seriously, 10/10 all around. I love the food, My favorite is salmon belly, yellowtail belly, and the freshwater Eel sushi. next I like their vegetable roll and salmon skin roll salmon skin roll has a very subtle but nice crunchy bite to it and the vegetable roll is nice crisp and a refreshing crunch with every bite I take. Their food is so fresh and amazing tasting every single time I come here. I love their staff. They're very nice and warm and welcoming when you come in always smiling the whole 9 yards I love it. It was a pretty hot day so I decided to get the sashimi salad for something cold. It was really refreshing and it was a pretty good price. The fish quality was okay though, kind of chewy and plain but not in the best way. The salad was also okay, but the seaweed and dressing on top made it so much better and helped elevate the flavors. I really liked the vibes inside of the restaurant, it was very cozy and cute and reminded me of Japan. Was very hungry after a long traffic delay and instead of going out did a DoorDash order from Yi Sushi. They have a simple online menu to navigate and prices are quite reasonable. Was in the mood for a lot of salmon so I ordered the salmon collar, salmon avocado roll and the salmon naruto roll (with thinly peeled cucumber). Arrived quickly and everything was freshly made & delicious and packaged nicely. They included some chemical infested packets of soy sauce that quickly found their way to the trash can. Not sure why anyone would use that instead of a simple soy sauce packet? For sure will be back and hope to dine in next time. read more

The quality of this place improved dramatically after the change in ownership. They went to take out only during COVID-19 and didn't seems to recover. The new owners remodeled the place, so you can have a nice dinner with table service or get takeout. They menu has a wide variety and never disappoints. The staff is extremely friendly. read more

We ordered through Grubhub so we can't discuss the restaurant. Really good food a bit salty, delicious nonetheless. We had several different dishes and we enjoyed all of them. Crunchy roll you can never go wrong. Hubbys favorite the only thing about this restaurant is that it had 1 single server so it did take some time for her to get our drink order and than circle back around to get our food order. I went around 3:00 in the afternoon. When I went in I noticed how I was the only person in the restaurant. The hostess was friendly and outgoing. I ordered a chicken Katy's bento box with a adagio beer to wash it down. I thought it was weird that there were at least three people behind the counter preparing fish, while the restaurant was empty. My food came out under 15 minutes. I had a difficult time identifying what cut of chicken the katsu was because it appeared to have been tenderized to the point where it was only barely an inch thick. The best thing in my bento box was the salad. The beer was very carbonated and unfortunately was hard to finish. Overall the experience was just ok. read more

Worst ramen I've ever had. Everything was overcooked. The eggs were pretty much hard boiled and didn't have a gooey yolk like they should. The noodles were borderline mushy because they were cooked too long. The pork was too tough because it was also cooked too long. The broth was very bland as was the pork. Samon Nigiri Perfection! You must try the newly reopened Yi Sushi in Rancho San Diego. I have seen what other Sushi restaurants pass off as Nigiri...salmon bought from Costco. This is SUSHI GRADE Salmon and it has a sweetness and melts in your mouth. No chewing necessary. And salmon cut is very generous! I'm a 40yr Sushi monster. Other food was great, French kiss roll and stuffed jalapeños. However the spicy salmon roll was bland, I could only taste the celery. The rice was almost gummy, very chewy and a little hard to get down. The seaweed was rubbery, had to be ripped apart. I don't recommend this item. read more

Consistently good food and service. I like the ratio of rice to fish in their sushi. Ambiance is very calm, not too loud or busy any time I've gone. I also like ordering to-go. My orders are always correct and ready pretty fast - about 10 min. This is a local favorite. The fish was super fresh. I'm a big sushi guy so I look for only the best. This place has it. I took 1 star away because the sushi is great but the rest of the menu is a little lacking. I suppose if you have to be good at something, be good at the sushi. It is after all, a sushi restaurant. Both visits here for takeout were excellent. Good quality, good price, big portions, fast service! As you can see in the photo, sashimi are thick cuts. Getting fresh escolar in my sashimi mix was a pleasant surprise. I like they didn't throw in miso soup and rice. I throw them away when they are needlessly provided. First time ordering delivery from Yi Sushi and we couldn't even finish our meals. I hate to slam any business during Covid knowing how hard it is on small restaurants but you cannot serve expensive food like this and not expect to receive a review when your food is sub par. Also I understand that food can cool off during delivery, but freshness and flavor should still be consistent. I chose the Sweet & Pungent chicken, bc that sounded good ... boy it did not disappoint. It came out on a bed of crispy noodles and steamed broccoli. The pieces were evenly sauced and sticky the way I love it ... so I can only imagine the orange chicken, sweet and sour, and whatever else is fried will be decent. Definitely coming back just for this. My bf had the kung pao trio, and it was probably the most decent I've had in a while. (btw the prices changed within a week of ordering in march 2026)

Ended up being closer to an hour, and by the time we got seated, we were definitely starving. We started with Chef Soichi's Karaage, which honestly ended up being the biggest disappointment of the meal. Not much flavor and definitely not what we were expecting given all the hype around this place. The clear winner of the day was my son's Hayashi Omurice -- super comforting, flavorful. My daughter and I split the Yakisoba, which was decent but nothing particularly memorable. The Guratan was creamy, cheesy penne pasta dish and definitely a kid pleaser. My husband ordered the Hatsuzakura Curry with chicken substituted in, and while solid, it still felt hard to justify the price point overall. We had originally planned to try the Onigiri too, but after seeing multiple reviews mention the rice-to-filling ratio being off, we decided to skip it. Dessert definitely redeemed the experience a bit. The Mango Matcha Kakigori was the family favorite and perfect for sharing, while the Coffee Jelly was appreciated by my coffee-loving hubby. Overall, a 3.5 star experience. Themenu felt pretty simple and honestly overpriced for what you get. The space itself is also very tiny with limited seating, so be prepared for a wait. That said, the service was excellent throughout the meal -- the staff were extremely courteous and kept checking in after we were seated and updating us on kitchen wait times, which we really appreciated. For us, this felt more like a drinks-and-desserts spot than somewhere we'd go out of our way for a full meal again.
