Came here for my friend's karaoke night. Prices seem a bit higher than other places (maybe inflation?). Like other places, they do charge for additional alcohol that you bring. We got a medium room and it was clean, decorated well, and spacious with a long couch, lots of seating, and some counter space. My friends mostly sang kpop and they had a good selection, nothing super new like from this year though. We liked that the music videos corresponded with the song because some places have random videos playing. The machine to queue the songs was super easy to use, def the best of all I've tried in Houston. The room got hot but they will quickly turn the air on if you request. read more

A few co-workers and I wanted to karaoke and we found this place by searching "karaoke" places nearby. It's a small place on the 2nd floor of a huge shopping center but they have two big neon signs so you can't miss it. We were in room 1 which was pretty small, it had a bench type seating all along the back wall. The tv screen was of decent size, we had two microphones, and they have a touch screen that allowed you to search for songs which was nice. The microphones has little covers over them too. We paid $40 per hour and it was BYOB but they charge a small fee to bring in your own alcohol. It was cool but the room was too small for the 6 of us and a lot of songs we searched for were not in their system, also the songs were like knock off songs and sometimes off beat, and it would play the music video but some of them were like random music videos that did not go with the song. Everything was clean also but I don't recommend this place for larger groups, maybe like 4 people tops. read more

Yes KTV - Room 1 - Karaoke Near Me - Houston, Texas

I had a good time here! Came here for a friend's birthday a while ago and we had a last minute room change because some friends could not make it anymore. They were very accommodating, and because there was a smaller room available, they let us change our reservation to that room last minute. Granted, this was around 9pm at night, which I believe is probably before the rush of people come in for karaoke. However, the smaller room they led us to only actually had one microphone working, so it was kind of a bummer. But then! They said the other small room had opened up and we could take it! So they heard our concerns and were looking out for us and moved us when possible! We had a great time and will come here again for more karaoke! This is a BYOB place (they charge corking fees though), which is great because we got to buy some drinks from the supermarket in the same plaza and just bring it over :) not sure if it needs to be said either, but parking here is great. This is located in a huge and poppin plaza so lots of parking areas. Actually the parking can fill up pretty quickly, but there are garages in the corners that always have open spots. This plaza has also been pretty safe - I have seen police cars patrolling the plaza. I'd recommend coming here to try karaoke if you'd like! I think coming earlier rather than later is probably why I had a good experience because they were not too busy yet. read more

Dirty rooms. Got scammed. Came here for my birthday a couple weeks ago on a Thursday. Got a large room for 11 people and online it said $69 an hour. When I called to make the reservation she said it was $79, which is the weekend price (like I said our reservation was for Thursday). I booked three hours and made a deposit of $100. Then at the end of the night they said the total was $300 even though we didn't bring any alcohol for the corking fees. They just charged $100 an hour despite advertising the room as cheaper. The room was also super dirty, had stains all over the walls, and smelled really bad. Will not be coming here again. Way more expensive than other ktv places in the area and definitely not worth it. read more

This is a really neat spot for karaoking if you have a group.. the only thing I would have to complain about is the smell and odor of this place. It was very overwhelming when we first got there but died down right before we left. Really cool idea for an intimate party though! read more

Yes KTV - a room with blue and red lights - Karaoke Near Me - Houston, Texas

See all

Called on Christmas to see if they were open. They were. Score. The person answering the phone said they had only one room open, the extra large room so I booked it at 90/hr for the holiday rate. A plus is that it's byob with corkage fees and they provide cups, ice, lemon/ limes are included. Mixers are an additional charge. We arrived at 9pm and were escorted to the room. A security guard checked IDs (21+ if you bring alcohol). The room was quite large and included a mini bar area and private attached restroom. As soon as we walked in, it smelled awful. It smelled like cooked cabbage. The server sprayed with air freshener. The server also brought tiny shot sized paper cups. We were like what the... how are you going to drink out of this?! So he brought actual glasses. Then he came back later to take some of the glasses back because they were running out. They didn't have any limes or lemon and said it was too busy for them to get any. They eventually did bring limes however. The pros: best equipment making it easy to search for songs, great music selection, extra large room had plenty of space for a group of people, byob The cons: room smelled, room interior decoration looked cheesy, obvious that management was trying to cut corners We had a great time but for the hourly rate and advertised services, of you're going to force an 18% tip, charge corkage fees and mixers, please prepare accordingly. read more

Yes KTV - Karaoke Near Me - Houston, Texas

Meh. The service is okay and the song selection is really iffy. You still have to flip through laminated pages of outdated songs and guess at which one is the best version to play. The remote has to be aimed *just so* or else the Jay-Z song you thought you entered will, surprise, end up being that Miley Cyrus song you "abhor" but sing meekly anyways (because you actually know all the words). The prices are NOT CHEAP, so make sure you hit critical mass with your group or else you'll be paying more than you expected. Hm, I thought this was Chinatown! I'll stick with Spotlight Karaoke, thanks. read more

Yes KTV stood out to me because their sound system allowed for key changes. You'd think this ability should be included in every karaoke venue, but apparently that's not how they do it in the States. Quite disappointing. After visiting last night I was informed that this option had been disabled, which basically puts Yes KTV alongside all the rest of the competition in Chinatown. On top of the key change loss, service was a little unfriendly this time around. I had called the night previous to make a reservation, and they had apparently sent me a text the day of in order to confirm. First off, they texted me about two hours beforehand, so I didn't respond in time. Secondly, they did so with incredibly casual grammar ('u' rather than 'you' or 'thx' instead of 'thanks') which was off-putting and unprofessional -- just because it's text doesn't mean we're friends -- and thirdly, the employee who showed us to our room when we arrived notified me with a 'matter-of-fact' tone that I hadn't replied to the confirmation text. Please get over yourself. 15% gratuity is included, as usual, along with complimentary popcorn. Now that Yes KTV doesn't have a better sound system, I no longer have a preference towards this place. It's just fine. read more

You're better off saving your money and doing karaoke at home, because they charge for byob along with charging you the wrong amount for the room size. We were charged a total of 190 for 2 hours and 15 minutes a water was bought and some peanuts. Mind you there was only 6 people and we were charged for the medium room it should have been specified from the beginning. Will definitely not be back and was considering it for another birthday, but it will not be considered an option. read more

Yes KTV - Make sure you read all the fine lines. - Karaoke Near Me - Houston, Texas

THIS KARAOKE IS EVERYTHING TO ME. WHY DO I NOT LIVE IN HOUSTON? I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. THE AMAZE. THE AMAZE IS AMAZING. For a karaoke, the room was very clean, and well ventilated. I've been to many in Korea where the floors have been sticky, or the room dusty. Their system was just so advanced. I was blown away. You use this giant tablet to input songs, or look up stuff. They have Chinese, Korean, Japanese, English, and other languages to choose from. It's amazing. We got free popcorn with our visit. I'm not sure if it's because we ordered three waters, or if the popcorn is given to everybody regardless. They have a food menu, but none of us ordered anything from that. For most of our songs, the actual music video would play with the song. You also have the option of muting the actual vocals too, so it was nice being able to un-mute your favorite artist and have them guide you. I will definitely be coming back here if I get the chance! read more

Yes KTV - A pink gundam! - Karaoke Near Me - Houston, Texas

The biggest room is abysmal. The room smells like sewage and cleaning product. The karaoke UI is slow like a 2000s car touchscreen and it was stuck on Chinese. You basically had to memorize what and where the buttons were to use it. I forfeited a $240 deposit because our group realized all this BS and hightailed it out of there. The manager refused a refund and hung up on me several times as I tried to explain the situation. She let the two men at the front desk take the fall for her inability to send money back for a terrible room. I ended up with a half refund and wasted my time. Go across the street to Neway instead. The rooms are nicer and the UI more responsive. read more

Saw a lot of negative reviews here which is shocking to me. Went here with a group of friends and it was a great experience!! We brought our own alcohol, and I think their policy is very reasonable - they charge $5 for each bottle of wine you bring and $1 for each bottle/can of beer. They do check IDs of everyone in the group if you have alcohol so be aware of that. They provided ice and plastic glasses for us to use. We did not order any food so I can't speak to that. The room itself was super fun and festive. It has lots of glowy neon lights, a huge couch, a mini bar area, and its own bathroom!! The music selection was huge, too. And the room had 3 mics which was awesome because we could sing stuff together. I didn't notice any smell at all. The staff was very polite, got us set up and then left us alone until the end of our reservation. They do add on an automatic tip which I think is technically unnecessary but just be warned that they'll tack that on at the end. Parking is tight and the parking lot itself is sort of hellish, which is not up to them obviously but just be warned that you should arrive a bit earlier to give yourself time to park. Overall, we had a ton of fun here and definitely want to come back! read more

I haven't tried too many karaoke places within the China town area but his one is fantastic. All of the rooms are a decent size, so if you want to dance while you sing, then you do you boo boo. (Hey, it happens). They also have a great selection of music from 80's/90's pop to current hip hop and dance music. The staff is also really nice and gave us free popcorn. All I'm saying is this: if you aren't down with yes k tv, then who the hell are you? read more

A group of friends and I had rented a room and at the end of the night, we had to split the costs evenly. The girl came back and said my card was declined when I literally just looked into my account and saw that I had money. I told her to try it again, and she returned saying my card was declined again. I knew at that moment that something was fishy but I shrugged it off and asked a friend to cover me for now. However, next morning, I received a notice via text from my bank saying that there was suspicious activity and KTV was trying to charge me $67. Of course I told the bank to block it. I checked my account again and they had charged me $45 and it posted on my account. Called my bank again to get further details and turns out that they tried to charge my account $67 FOUR TIMES. I called Kathy the "manager" and she is completely dodgey about the whole situation. I told her thoroughly that I was charged when I wasn't supposed to be and she kept asking me "so what's your question? What is your problem?" THE PROBLEM HERE IS THAT YOU GUYS CHARGED ME $45 WHEN YOU TOLD ME MY CARD WAS DECLINED TWICE - AND ON TOP OF THAT YOU TRIED TO CHARGE ME $67 FOUR TIMES. Thank god my bank alerted me of this and I was able to block transactions from them because I would have been short $313!!!! I recommend everyone to check their bank statements and transactions because there is no doubt that this place is dishonest! Not only was the girl telling me my card was declined EMBARRASSING but this whole situation has been such an inconvenience! read more

Place SMELLS! After a while you get use to it though. The room looks old and there is no style to it (not eye pleasing to me). The place just looks run down. The place is in Chinatown so parking will be hell. After you are settled in, they bring "free popcorn" so they can charge your alcohol so don't think about sneaking in alcohol (they have cameras in the room). You literally can't even bring in juice, they also take that away. The good thing is that they have a wide selection of songs, especially American ones. We only stayed there for an hour. For the price it was ok. read more

For the past several months I've been on a Karaoke binge... and Yes KTV has been my vice. Granted I'm no American Idol but suffice to say I'm a whole lot better then say... William Hung on his rendition of "Livin la vida Loca". Located on the 2nd floor of a strip shopping center, Yes KTV is a Karaoke joint in the truest form. Predominantly in Japan, China and most parts of Asia... KTVs mainly are private rooms rented out to customers that he/she can sing for the night. Each room has a TV, a sound system, seating and a vast selection of songs to choose from. Well at Yes, they have a total of only 5 rooms (3 small, 1 medium and 1 large). The small room can accommodate up to 8 wannabe singers, the medium is up to 14 or 15 and the largest room can hold up to 21 people. The rates are fairly reasonable, Small rooms: $25/hr on weekdays and $35/hr on weekends. Medium: $35/hr and $55/hr on Wkends. Large: $50 and $75/hr. Closed on Sundays. Hours are from 8:00 pm to 2:00 AM. Another great thing is that you can bring your own choice of alcohol. $5 is for every bottle of alcohol and wine opened and $1 for each beer. Even though there are no alcohol for sale, they do have fresh juices, milk tea, tapioca and an array of appetizer-like dishes on the menu. All the food is from the restaurant Cafe 101. These rooms provide seclusion for you and your friends. That way, you don't hear others... and thank goodness no one hears you. They have songs in Chinese and English to choose from. Lots of them are pretty current and up to date. Plenty of which you hear on today's Top 40 stations. Even though walk-ins are welcomed, rooms do book up fast. So call-in to reserve your hours. Remember, they only have 5 rooms to rent out... and unfortunately, 2 of the small ones are Chinese only. Another thing is the entire staff speaks mediocre English, so don't be discouraged when they don't understand you. They're quite nice people. All-in-all, Yes KTV has uninhibited any fear of performing in front of strangers... thus leaving me hoarse and happy at the end of the night! read more

A karaoker's delight. Whether your voice is as graceful as Taylor Swift's or as carefree as William Hung's, the Yes KTV karaoke box has enough tools to make you sound half decent. Without the use of auto-tune--and their beverage policy certainly helps! They allow you to bring drinks of your choice- beer/water at $1 per bottle and larger bottles like wine/liquor at somewhere in the range of $5-$10 per bottle. Their beverage policy pales in comparison to their very reasonable pricing of $35/room (small) to $55/room (large) per hour, and the Fun Value:Dollar Value ratio of a few extra beers in the room will quickly help you forget why you fretted over prices in the first place. Compared to most karaoke places, Yes KTV's wide selection is beautiful. They may not have some classic artists (Metallica, Iron Maiden) or some of the most popular songs of all time (California Love by Tupac), but their system is both expansive and up-to-date. They have what is probably the most expansive Asian song collection I've seen in America. Whether you're Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Cantonese, etc., there's something here for you- and more. They're also quick to add lots of new songs not too long after they're released, allowing you to take your vocal skills from car to microphone all too easily. The only downside to this place is they don't have water, meaning you'll have to bring in bottles + get charged for it, buy water from them, or sneak it in (hint: girls, bring your large purses!). Give this place a shot. Your inner John Legend will thank you later. read more

I don't know why. There are like three or four karaoke places, but this seems to be the most popular one. Also, whenever we want to do karaoke, we prefer this place. The place is clean and has nice decor and ambient. Song selections are okay and you can find a lot of songs in different languages. So it's a good place for a group with diversity. Price wise, if neither did too expensive not cheap. They don't serve alcohol here but is BYOB and they charge a corkage fee. Anyway the reason we keep going to this place it's because were used to the system and it is okay. As long as we get to sing with our friends, we are not too picky. read more

Yelp has it ALL wrong. The night before, I experienced the nightmare that is Genji's with the gross appetizers and sticky floors/weird smells with no song selection. But tonight, I was in the neighborhood and decided to go here. The reviews were not promising but it was a risk we were willing to take and I'm so glad we did! A small room is $28/hr on weekdays and once we got inside it was a NICE, CLEAN bar!! Already a huge improvement from yesterday. When we got in the room they gave us a complimentary popcorn!! The room has some sort of touch screen tablet where you choose songs and the selection was great! I'm more of a Japanese and Korean song chooser and my friends chose more popular English songs. They were all there! Only a few missing. They kept checking up on us and they'd wait until the song was over, so polite! Not to mention the restrooms were clean and the tv displayed the actual song's video!! This is very rare if you karaoke a lot. They add gratuity by themselves which I wouldn't mind if we got more than popcorn and water bottles. Despite that, I will DEFINITELY be back! Love this place! read more

I love to karaoke, especially at noraebong-style places, aka private room karaoke-- different from Spotlight. However, KTV doesn't really settle for me. The good: -- They are clean -- "BYOB" -- The big room is great for big groups -- there's a bar area -- The american song selection is quite good for an asian place. The bad: -- The service is not very good. They are constantly going into your room to check if you BYOB-ed and if you did.... -- They charge you $1.50 uncorking/opening fee EACH bottle/can! UNBELIEVABLE! My cost savings effort of stopping by Fiesta for a case of Shiner went down the drain when I was charged for each bottle I opened. -- If they are running late, they don't let you stay late to get your full 1 hr or 2 hrs. AND they still charge you for the entire rate. They book up really fast on holiday weekends, so make sure you book in advance. read more

Came here to celebrate my birthday with my friends and it was probably the most fun I've had at karaoke, ever! We rented out the private room for 3 hours and had to pay a small deposit fee that would be refunded if we didn't show. They have a beverage bar there but you can also bring your own bottles/beer for a corkage fee. $1 per beer/$10-15 per bottle depending on how big it is. I think that's a deal since some karaoke places don't allow you to BYOB and charge a ridiculous amount for bottles ($75-100+). The private room we reserved had a bar to put our drinks on, a mini stage, a big tv screen, a long couch, and even our own restroom! The karaoke screen wasn't hard to navigate since there was only one korean person in there yet everyone was able to get their songs in without any trouble. The song selection was pretty dated with a lot of top 40's songs already entered in there along with the oldies. I'm actually surprised that the workers didn't come in to hush us at any time with the frivolous chanting that went on every time someone new entered the room, yay for privacy. The rooms are clean, the workers accommodated our every need, and the bill was reasonable at the end of the night. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to sing their heart out! read more

At first glance this place looks pretty good. Nice clean room, nifty touch screen technology. Then all the "buts" begin. For starters, I understand that they make their money by charging for mixers, but their policy of not bringing in outside beverages is a little over the top. A couple of people in our group bought smoothies at a place downstairs, and they wouldn't allow them to enter the room with them, even after we offered to pay them something like a "corkage" fee. Their selection of mixers is also limited, so you may want to call ahead to see if they have a mixer you like. They claim to have thousands of songs. But the majority of those songs are Korean (or Chinese maybe, I don't know). Then, when you find the artists that you do know, you will find that some of their most popular songs aren't even offered. I can't tell you how many times we struck out looking for songs. But the funniest part of this place is the utter cluelessness of the videos that they play in the background of the songs. On a rare occasion you will see the actual music video, but for the most part you will see something completely random. Like people fishing. Or video of people from the 80's shopping. And the best one of all - video of a slum somewhere in Asia, while the song "We are the Champions" is playing. So unintentionally hilarious. I will say the guy working there was attentive. I would never go back to this place. There has to be better around. read more

Booked a small room for myself and 4 friends several weeks ago. I love that they have all their prices listed on their website. Their karaoke machines are very modern touch screen computers. They have a huge library of songs. Any song you could possibly think of. Fairly decent prices too! You can BYOB and they charge you $1 per beer that you bring in. Not too shabby. The staff is very kind and professional. They checked in on us intermittently throughout the two hours we were there. The facility is very clean and modern as well. I absolutely loved it and can't wait for another reason to come back! read more

Good services. This is our first time here and their stereo system is amazing! Everything is controled by a touch screen, and we get a free popcorn! Highly recommed and will come back read more

I love the style and decoration of Yes KTV. They did a good job, it looks very modern and luxury. However, compare to Love of 1970 and Cash Box Karaoke, it is more expensive as well. They charge per hour thus it becomes costly if you want to stay longer, especially in the weekend. Food, tea and snacks are charged in addition to the room fees. I think it is really depends on if you'd like to drink while singing. They do not serve any type of drinks with alcohol or beers. It is really suitable for people going for singing rather than drinking. I do believe you can bring your own drinks though. Personally I'd like to party at night; little drinks are definitely essential to me!! : P I had never been there in the afternoon. I heard you could also book room in the afternoon that is much cheaper usually. Will go back! read more

Was a super fun experience especially since it was my first time. Had a lot of song options both English and Chinese! Lost 1 star because I don't understand why they charged us 15% tip when we had nothing to eat or drink and they only ever came in twice during the 2 hours to let us know we were too loud? I would have thought the place was more soundproof being a karaoke bar and all. Really was a good time for me because of the company I brought and not so much the place but we went during happy hour on Saturday and it was only $29/hr which was nice. Also, I know some reviews said it smelled but I didn't feel that way at all. The location is good too because after karaoke, you can have all the dessert you want considering there's Ice cream, boba, shaved ice, etc all in the same plaza! read more

Been here once. My friend from Houston but now lives in San Antonio's friends came into Houston looking for a place to Karaoke. I wanted them to go to Genji, but this was more convenient, as they were crashing nearby somewhere. They have a lobby area as well as private rooms. It's very cute inside, I like the decor.. The teas are a touch over priced for my taste and there's no alcohol. YES. and if you want to get your drink on it's BYOB. quite literally. and they charge per bottle you bring in. This didn't really bother me. What bothered me is that it only had Chinese and English. I know some Chinese songs, but I can't read it. in which case, I can't search it. =( so I can't sing it. sad face all around. there's a little touch screen in each room for selecting Chinese songs. Clever, inventive: but still no help. My song was from a sound track and I only saw solo artists scrolling on the little screen. The English songs, though, were very current. so yay them =) but there weren't a lot... so another sad face. Perhaps it was just an in between time for song updates, who knows. Sometimes the staff sings in the lobby if it's slow. I heard one sing Jay Chou-- very cute =D I figure since it's quite literally KTV as it is called in China-- that is why there isn't say Japanese or Korean songs, but I still wish they had it. That's the sore loser in me speaking. But the variety of teas was intriguing. I just wasn't game for paying that much for tea. I think I had to throw away my tea I had previously to entering... =( either toss or guzzle pretty much are your options at the door. read more

Reserved a room for a get together and it was a blast. It was pretty clean and even had a bar which Melody doesn't have. I'm glad there was a binder and that the screen to input the songs was in English and not some other foreign character. The price is a bit expensive though for 2 hours we paid 200 something I think. A fun place with very nice staff! I went there for my 19th birthday and my friends and I had a BLAST!

First of all, parking. It sucks. Come early to get a spot. Second of all, this place has...a smell. I think it's probably garlic or something as it's so close to many restaurants, but it hits like sewage. The good news is, they have a HUGE library of songs. I bet you have that one song you KNOW they won't have. They do have it. What appealed to my party was the fact that you can bring your own liquor and they provide cups. I wish (so hard) that I was kidding when I tell you that the cups they provided were Dixie cups that children use to brush their teeth. I wish, I wish with all my might. But, it's not a joke. Bring your own cups friend. read more

My first ever karaoke experience was here. The price seemed decent, however my well-travelled friend stated that it was much cheaper in Korea. Lot of fun, clean room, however they asked that my friend leave her water bottle from outside, I suppose no outside drinks allowed. This makes sense though. Also by the end of our hour, the place smelled pretty heavily of cigarette smoke (or hookah maybe?), again not a problem, but unexpected. I'd definitely come back. read more

I went to Yes KTV for the first time. It was a decently sized group (about 10). Here are my thoughts. As soon as I walked in, it smelled weird. Not the good weird. But I guess your nose can adjust to it after while. The room (we had a large room) was still visibly dirty in corners and on the sides. There was a microphone on a stand but it was not functioning because low battery. Their description claims their audio is great but I would have to disagree. Personally I didn't enjoy the audio quality but it's nothing to fuss about. They have a good song collection. They also give you a small complimentary bowl of popcorn. This place is alright if you're not picky. I'll give it 2 stars. Oh yeah, PRICE. It was 81 dollars per HOUR ... even though on the phone, we were told it would be 81 dollars for two hours total. Kinda whack. I don't like this place. read more

First of all, I apologize to the people trying to relax at the massage place next door. I'm pretty sure hearing my screeching is much more relaxing. Go with a large group of friends, it's cheaper! The hourly rate varies by day and spikes on the weekends, but there is also a Saturday happy hour. Sunday night rate was $35 an hour for a group of 8 people, and we stayed there for 2.5 hours. Split it among 8 people, and you've got a good deal. They have a very high tech karaoke system where you peruse and select the songs through a touch screen that is very easy to use. There are songs in English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean. I'm not sure if there are Viet songs but it is highly likely. They have recent songs as well as the classics in any genre. You can also adjust the mic volume/music volume through the touch screen panel. They offer snacks, drinks, and alcohol, but at a rather beefed up price. So eat dinner before going here. Service is also good. The girl working there kept checking in once in awhile to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. Or maybe it's because our singing was so bad she thought someone was dying. Oh wells. read more
