There's something special about Soul Food from certain neighborhoods. They season and they season well. They take fried foods seriously in these neighborhoods and Yellowbird does not disappoint. Places like this are probably less consistent but when they get it right get ready for an unforgettable experience. My only critique would be to get the wings instead of the tenders. The tenders are white meat and less juicy. Wings were made fresh and I recommend the original seasoning without sauce. read more

Excellent customer service and delicious salad with grilled chicken tenders on it!! It was made to order while I waited, and the person making it was incredibly friendly and helpful! read more

This was one of the worst experiences I've had in a long time. So bad that I have to write a review. I placed an online order and arrived during the pick up time. The woman working said 10 more minutes, almost 20 minutes later my food was finally finished. Got home only to find that all of my chicken wings still had feathers on it. I've eaten wings with feathers before, one here two there but not my entire damn order. I ordered lemon pepper and spicy wings and what I got was all plain. At least she got the dipping sauces right. On top of that I also found HAIR on my fries. Maybe if the woman wasn't on FACETIME the entire time she was making my order this wouldn't have happened. But I doubt it, this level of unprofessionalism happens daily. Also didn't see her wash her hands every time she repositioned her oily phone so they can see her on face time. read more

19.99 for a whole chicken? Bigger ones rotisserie chickens at Costco 4.99? Granted he can't sell for 4.99 , but 14.99 if more flavors than Costco? But quality and size and rotisserie flavor at Costco very good. Maybe buy hot sides at KFC and a Costco chicken and good under Brandon inflation read more

Southern comfort buffalo wings that puts buffalo wild wings to shame. I got the crunchy chicken sandwich and lemon pepper wings. Sandwich was good but took a backseat as I marveled at the thick crunchy battered wings. Upon devouring the skin I was met with a moist chicken meat underneath. A true hidden gem in boston for wing lovers living in boston. read more

Was looking for a Boston Market-type meal, and that's the vibe we got here with the rotisserie chicken family meal: full chicken (cut into quarters for transport), 4 cornbread muffins, choice of 3 sides, and gravy for a very reasonable $43. The flavor and moistness of the chicken were solid, and the sides were a good size with lots to choose from. Worth mentioning that I found the dominant flavor of the gravy, mashed potatoes, and mac & cheese to all be black pepper, which isn't my personal favorite and also got a bit repetitive- but if that's your jam, you'll enjoy. The cornbread was pretty meh, but was serviceable to soak up the gravy, and the glazed carrots were fine and not memorable (was nice to have a non-peppery side to cut through the rest, though). read more

This was my first time walking in a couple of days ago. I'm so blessed that my wife usually picks up their chicken for me. I decided to bless a brother with this wonderful lunch. It was fantastic as always. The service was very friendly and fast. It has the requisite plastic screen to keep customers' cooties to themselves. No marks on the floor, but the customers were smart enough to keep social distancing. The parking is usually pretty good. Otherwise, you can swing around the corner and park on Washington Street with no problems. Very clean. If you're in West Roxbury, make sure to stop by. read more

Yellowbird Chicken - 6 piece wing basket. My fave! - Chicken Shop Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. First and LAST time I'll ever go here. We placed an order online & the woman preparing it was unprofessional and talking on her phone the entire time (FaceTime). Ridiculous. Also found hair in the food- just overall a really bad experience. Felt like I wasted $40. I should have taken my money elsewhere. Never coming back again. read more

Holy sodium! Plus...The gentleman that took my order was very nice. Negatives....stuffing was scary looking and soooo salty. Mac & cheese tasted like it came from a box and was also super salty. Mystery.... I'm afraid to try the chicken. Think I'll wait for my least favorite kid to try it first. Definitely a bit run down. I was surprised that the door to the fridge was covered. Strange. read more

The owner is friendly and omg the lemon and pepper fried chicken is delicious.. Bird nest is onion rings, fries and sweet potato fries in a form of a bird nest .. The corn bread is a hit. I never share the corn bread lol Can't wait to go back and try other things in the menu read more

Yellowbird Chicken - Lemon and pepper wing dinner with mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese.. - Chicken Shop Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

This is a hidden gem! Best boneless barbecue chicken wings that I have ever tasted, can't recommend it enough!

I ordered the spicy chicken tenders with fries and lemon pepper wings with garlic sauce and it was awesome. Flavor was definitely there and chicken was not over cooked - still crispy on the outside and juicy in the inside. One star off was because like some of the reviews said I noticed there were these little hairs on some of my wings from the chicken which I thought should have been removed better before frying.. read more

Yellowbird Chicken - Chicken Shop Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

Their quickest menu items are like the best KFC items, only cooked to order, so much tastier and fresher, even if the wait is a little longer. Their dinners are kind of like Boston Market fare, very comparable. If you select carefully among the side dishes, you will have a very decent meal. Love the "bird's nest" fries, and the customized grilled chicken sandwiches (fresh onion & tomato, chipotle mayo). Greens and sweet potato are good sides. Locally-owned, so they seem to care a bit more. 98% take-out: I've never seen anyone sitting and eating inside, though that is possible. read more

This was solidly alright. It was pretty good for the price, and felt down-homey. The chicken was fried kinda hard but was tasty enough. The sides were plentiful, though not outstanding. I tried the fish cakes--they tasted kinda just like mash potato fritters but they weren't objectionable. read more

Great food and huge portions. I kind of wish the wings were smaller because the sauce:meat ratio would be better. Highly recommended!

I just had their crispy chicken sandwich and wings dinner. The sandwich is better than the one hyped by Popeyes. The wings dinner was fantastic and my son loved the Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. The wings are by far the best I've had in Boston and probably I have ever had. Would highly recommend this to anyone and would consider ordering large amounts of their food for a party. read more

Today I went to order the "Stay Skinny" salad since I could not get delivery to Newton, MA..the guy taking my order laughed and said "It's a Greek salad" (with chicken). I ordered it with EXTRA FETA CHEESE. I opened my salad when I got home and did not see xtra feta, I called and he said "yeah, I added xtra...there is a lot of cheese"....NOT, there was about a 1/4 cup or less of Feta cheese...next time I will check my salad before I leave. The salad was THE BOMB! ALL vegetables were fresh and ripe. The chicken was superb, nice and moist and very well seasoned. I loved it and it was worth the drive and the wait. Next time, I will take a picture to show how little feta was on it but also to show how yummy looking the salad was. read more

I found this place through a sponsored Ad on Instagram. The photos of wings made me hungry, so I decided to give it a try. When I got to the place, it looked like a dirty little place, walls need painting, nowhere to sit except for 3 stools at a counter, and street only parking (good luck). The one guy in there, older guy, was working the register, cooking, and answering the phone all at the same time. He didn't always wash his hands between tasks, and when be did, it was only for two seconds. He was wearing flip flops and no hat or hair net as required by the health code. I figured hot oil would kill that bacteria anyway, so I rolled with it. I ordered the large wing basket (6 wings). It took longer than usual to cook the order. To my surprise, there was nothing large about that basket. The wings were not whole wings, just 6 wing ding parts (3 wings). I got a bit of fries, and a container of cole slaw the size of the containers that usually hold condiments. The cole slaw looked watery in that container, so I didn't even try it. The wings were okay, but not seasoned, and he doesn't clean all the feathers off the wing dings, which kinda irks me. My experience was just "okay." I recommend that the owner paint the walls, wear a hat, get some help so the cook isn't handling money and the phone, and put some Lawry's seasoned salt on those wings. That would at least get the place to a 4 star rating. This business will get some first visits due to the ads, but unless the presentation matches the social media posts, it won't survive the long term. Especially, with Kentucky Fried Chicken, old reliable, right down the street. I hope the owner reads this, knowing that the criticism was constructive, and only an effort to make the business better. Thanks for reading. read more

The hole in the wall chicken is by far the best and always will be. Must stop by and try it out. Even the fish cakes were delish. Don't forget to order the birds nest too. French fries sweet potato fries and onion rings all thinly sliced yup if you drive by that's your fault so stop in grab some wings with the birds nest and tear that up. Finger licking good sauces too. Call it in now. read more

Owner is a madman - in the best way possible. The chicken is incredible. Whether it's roasted, grilled or fried. I've tried them all. The sandwiches are a steal for 5-6$. Where else in the city can you eat a true chicken sandwich (that is delicious and big enough to satisfy) for 6$? The answers is nowhere but here. On top of that, the sides are all home made and second to none. Mashed potatoes, squash, green beans, carrots - all approved. Waited too long to try this place, don't make the same mistake I did. read more

This place used to be so much better. Over the past year or so the food has gotten sooooo greasy. I ordered the grilled chicken dinner with green beans and rice. The beans were drenched in fat (either butter or oil, hard to tell) as was the rice. Very disappointing. read more

New to this place but the food is BOMB. Tried the buffalo tenders with French fries, bomb. Tried to lemon pepper crispy fried jumbo wings with French fries, bomb. Going back soon for the BBQ wings and i can't wait!!! Definitely recommend. read more

I'm sorry to say this was my first and last time at this place....The chicken was over cooked, the stuffing was horrible, the fries was soggy, I actually didn't enjoy anything from this place, If chicken is the specialty it should be the best chicken ever.....what a waste of money.. read more

Went here on a Sunday and they proceeded with strength to tell me that it would take an 1 1/2 hours to get food!

This is the second time we've ordered from here. They do take-out, although they have a few seats along the wall. The chicken is amazing! Everything we've ordered is so surprisingly good! We only came her on a whim a few weeks ago after we googled chicken near our apartment. We both ordered chicken sandwiches, chicken wings, butternut squash, Mac and cheese, and the bird nest fries (fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings!!) The restaurant is owned by a friendly man who does all the cooking! Again, surprisingly so good, you won't be disappointed. When you walk in it's not the most updated place, super hole-in-the-wall but that's probably what makes it so good! read more

I had a review prior that was true and alarming. However, the owner was very pleasant to talk to and understanding. he promised that the workers working would be more cautious with preparing meals. He made it right and I will say prior to this, I never had a bad meal there. read more

I've ordered pickup twice - fried and rotisserie chicken, wings, with sides. BUT too much salt in everything, no other seasonings! The mashed potatoes, gravy, herb stuffing, rice pilaf, mac & cheese, butternut squash, green beans. My second time is my last. COVID: they've got good separation for pickup, and everyone is wearing masks. read more

Great meaty chicken wings. Got all the sauces and Sweet and sour sauce was my favorite. I enjoyed the Mac and cheese and butternut squash. Just be prepared to order 30 min or longer. Waited double the time they promised. It Could have been just a really busy evening. Would come back. read more

The chicken wing dings are really good but I really don't care to pay $9.00 for 2 chicken wings and fries that I am not going to eat. The menu says a 4 piece jumbo wing but then the receipt says wing dings. Second off my order was wrong but they don't answer their phone AT ALL. read more

Highly disappointed another 4 star spot that doesn't live up to the hype! Stopped in after work because I had a craving for some rotisserie this evening. Walked in the store to this young woman sitting down no customers in sight, maybe that was my sign. I ordered the rotisserie family meal spent damn near 50 bucks for a meal I barely ate I mean barely. Rotisserie chicken wasn't freshly made seemed as if it was day old. The stuffing is terrible comes in clumps texture is just horrendous. Their corn bread is awful in fact the only thing I enjoyed about my meal was the glazed carrots and sweet corn. The young woman serving my food even heated it up in the microwave before giving it to me she has no shame whatsoever. I will never stop at this place again. read more

Great chicken flavor ! I ordered the spicy one, wished it was spicier. But over all great food! I will def order again!

I happened to stumble upon yellow bird. The first few times it was delicious my order was right and I was in heaven. Crispy chicken and the bird nest fries (a combo of reg fries, sweet potato fries and onion rings) are to die for. And the customer service is great. My only gripe is the last few times I've gone my order has been off. Ordered birds nest got regular fries ordered chicken wings got tenders. And tonight I got 11 pieces of wings rather than the 12 that I ordered and paid for. I don't leave now without checking my order but how you gonna forget a whole wing? And the way my pockets are set up lately I damn saved up for this lol. And of course I called it was 750 and they did not pick up. read more
