Just arrived home from a 25$ yellow cab ride from whyte ave to south side Edmonton. Halfway through the ride my drive attempted to go off route as if I wouldn't notice. This was my third experience with yellow cab and I can honestly say it was a bad experience every time. Today i called them at 5:25 am on a monday, I just needed a ride to my house after i slept over at my friends house. They told me 15-25 minutes. I was waiting for 1 hour before i called them back and asked if the cab was even going to show up. They told me to wait another 20 minutes to see if the cab would come if not call them back. 30 mins later I called them back letting them know that no cab was here. I got a really rude reply saying that two people where still ahead of me for getting a cab and that i would have to wait and stop calling. I gave up and got my sister to pick me up. I don't know if it was busy during such an early time but as a customer you should never be talked to like that when you're giving someone business. Just spoke to a lady on the phone with Yellow Cab who was INCREDIBLY rude!! Sounded like an older lady, but wow. My sister had called a cab for her friend who was stuck at Mc Donald's without a phone. After a cab not showing up, and the lady questioning my sister where she was from because of her phone number. I decided to call. She asked me where I was from, like it matters? I have a 780 phone number and I'm trying to get a young girl to our house who's stranded at Mc Donald's without a phone at 10pm. She starts giving me attitude and says there's a cab there, which I then tell her that there's no one in the cab. She tells me "Oh well, the cab is available". I asked why she was giving me attitude, when it's HER job to get people into their cabs. She proceeds to tell me "It's not my job to get her in a cab actually". Who talks like this to customers wanting to use their business?! I've had problems with Yellow Cab in the past, and I most definitely will not use them ever again after this incident. Wow! I have never been treated so horribly in my life. First time I talked to them they said a half hour. An hour after I called back and told another half hour.45 mins later I asked for a supervisor which I was told I wads talking to "bill" who said "whatever we are busy". I work in hotels and have never Ben talked to the way "bill"the supervisor has been talked to. Called a different taxi company and had them arrived in 10 mins. Worst customer Survice and worst staff I have ever dealt with in my life. I have never written a review online before but signed up up for Yelp just because of the the ignorance I recieve do from this company. As a customer service worker I can't believe this company exists. "Bill" If you are a manager you need to fired on the spot. Garbage cab co just today I phoned a cab for me to pick up my mother from the hospital cuz she just had scope done so she was under some drugs and could not drive her self home so I was taking a cab to come pick her up and id drive her and her car home cab co said it was 2km away that was an hour ago my mom just called me and is hell bent on driving her self home I called her and you can tell shes still a bit woozy in the phone I could not talk her out of it she was already on the road 4 blocks from the hospital she got into a crash thank god shes ok but I blame yellow cab for this if they did not take so long this would not have happend she could not make choices for her self at that time so laweyer up yellow cab see you in court read more

Absolutely rude dispatcher who informed me that yellow cab cannot do "pre-planned" pickups to public places, i.e. if you were coming in on the airport bus to a late night area in the middle of nowhere in the freezing cold you could not have the cab there already because the cab company doesn't want to risk waiting for you. You must wait until you 'see' the place. I'm sorry but that's a disservice to customers in a place as cold as Edmonton and I would wager easily that more often than not customers are stuck waiting for cabs behind schedule than customers. read more

Four of us took a taxi from West Jet exit to Jet Set parking. A distance of about three blocks and took about 2.5 minutes. The driver demanded $32.00. Had to give it to him to get our luggage. To make it even worse left a bag with keys, phone charger etc.. in van. Never got it back. What more is there to say........ read more

Booked this cab 6 hours in advance...booked it to pick me up 1 hour before I needed to be at the bus station...the cab never showed up.. Tried calling multiple times and only got a busy signal..I ended up missing my bus from edm to Calgary !! I had to rebook a bus ticket for the next day and now I am out $70 for another bus ticket!!...NEVER book with this company again... read more

I grabbed a cab at the Royal Alec hospital this morning to pick up my wife who had surgery the previous day. We were taken to the Best Western Hotel, Cedar Park Inn. Well, after I paid for the fare, we went to our room. About 10 minutes later I went to text my daughter when lo and behold no cell phone. I had left it in the cab. After trying to get as much information as possible to help the cab company locate the driver we waited hoping to get a call from them, because calling my cell phone sent it directly to voice mail. About 45 minutes later the front desk called me to tell me that there was a cab out front. I went out and sure enough it was the driver we were looking for and he had my cell. We have been in the city since Monday and have had to use the cab service 2 times per day till today. Each time they took us the same way to our destination and the cost was almost the same within 2-3 dollars. The drivers were friendly. So, in conclusion, thank you to the Yellow Taxi company for there timely service. Especially, thank you to the driver that returned my cell phone to me. You saved us a lot of grief. I am only sorry that I did not get your time but the licence plate was t2008 or t2009. Also, thank you to the dispatch and the other people there that assisted me in finding my cell phone. If I could give them less that one star - I would! We arrived on Via Rail from Jasper at 3:00am Tuesday morning. I immediately called the Yellow Cab line in the foyer and asked for a van for 5 people. I was told they would be there within 20 minutes. Half hour later, most of the people were picked up in a Yellow Cab - car - 2 groups requiring a van were still waiting. I called again at 3:30 and was told they'd be dispatched right away. 3:50AM - Called again, was told they would be sent right away. The other group waiting for a van was able to stuff their luggage into a car so we were the only group still waiting for a taxi. We asked the driver when our van would be here only to be told that a van was never requested by dispatch, the call went out that "Via was in so head over for pick-up". He did call in to request a van for us - which never showed. At 4:20 I called #TAXI and asked for the first available cab company. I was transferred to Yellow Cab who told me they'd send a van within 20 minutes. At that point I lost it and told her that we'd already been waiting for Yellow Cab to send a van since 3:00am and that I'd called 3 times. At that point, she hung up on me!!!! Kevin, from Via Rail, very kindly drove 3 of us to our hotel and I drove back in my vehicle to pick up the other 2. Apparently, Yellow Cab sent 2 cars to pick us up approx. 2 minutes before I arrived back at the train station and the two remaining in our group told them to get lost - but not quite that nicely. If they didn't have a van available, they should have told us they'd send 2 cars to take us back - instead of saying repeatedly - We'll have a van there in 20 minutes. Once we all got to the hotel - at 5:00AM, the hotel was appalled at lack of service and said they'd no longer recommend Yellow Cab to any of there customers. Really? 2 hours to go 4.2 km between the Via Rail station and our hotel? Nice job Yellow Cab!!!! read more

My friend and I called a cab on Friday night to get to Whyte Avenue and we were told it would take 5-15 minutes. After waiting for 40 minutes we called back and asked them to send us another cab since the first one didn't seem to be coming. We were then told again the wait would only be 10 minutes. We ended up waiting another 30 minutes and ended up walking to whyte ave because the cab situation was ridiculous. Worst service and they called 2 hours later saying they were waiting at our location and if we didn't get in the cab we would be flagged for future cab service. Pathetic service and the reason why Uber was so successful when it was around. read more

Yellow Cab is hit or miss, as far as customer service is concerned, and much of this is based on the personality and work ethic of your driver at a given time. Sometimes when I have required their services, their drivers have arrived to the pick-up location and destination in a timely manner and have been polite and courteous. Other circumstances have left a great deal to be desired. Once, while waiting to attend a workplace Christmas party, I was told that I would have to wait for a minimum of four hours before a cab could reach me, this was after having being placed on-hold for an unbelievable amount of time. I understand that that is a busy time of year. Nevertheless, a four hour wait in a metropolitan area of over 1 million people, wherein the demand for cabs in the winter is expected to be high, is really unacceptable. On another occasion, when I went to pay interac/debit for a cab once it had reached its destination, the driver said: "what, you don't have any cash?" using a hostile tone of voice. I stated that, no, I didn't carry cash often and that I didn't expect this to be a problem as the cabs are marked with labels indicating that they accept interac/debit, as well as countless credit cards, as methods for paying for services. He responded by saying: "well, it's not a problem, but now I have to connect my machine". He behaved pretty rudely as though this payment option was the end of the world. In another situation, I phoned and requested a cab from my cell phone. I indicated to dispatch that I would be waiting at the front of the pick-up location so the driver would not have to buzz the door or call me when he arrived. A few minutes later, my cell phone rang. Not having caller ID, I assumed that it was somebody else and did not want to hassle with responding to the call when I was expecting a cab to arrive so I refrained from answering. The cab arrived shortly afterward and the cab driver rudely asked me if I had received his call. I said that the cell phone had rang, but that I did not have caller ID and that I didn't expect that a driver would be calling so I didn't bother answering. I added that I had assumed that it would be somebody else and that I did not want to deal with another phone call while I was about to board a cab. He antagonistically said: "I tried calling. Next time, answer your phone!" Wow. Up until that experience, I had never had a cab driver call me on my cell phone prior to arrival. For all he knew, I didn't even have my cell on my person by the time that I had gotten outside to wait for the cab. I apologized. Still, I added that I didn't realize that drivers were in the practise of calling customers before their arrival unless the situation necessitated it (ex. that the driver was issuing a notification that they were running behind schedule). In another instance, a friend and I waited for over an hour for a cab midway between Christmas and New Year's Eve. After an hour, we gave up waiting and walked to the University of Alberta depot where one can sometimes find cabs, a mere four blocks away, to see if a random cab was parked there. There was, and, after informing the driver that we had been waiting for a cab for over an hour to no avail, the driver stated that he had not been notified by his dispatch of our request for service. Fortunately, he was considerate and drove us to our destination without issue. Periodically, you will also encounter drivers who deliberately avoid major thoroughfares as a means of prolonging the drive and racking-up the fees. This is not what people are looking for when they are running behind schedule and trying to reach a destination as soon as possible. The bus/LRT offers slow service for a lot less money. In short, Yellow Cab can be a gamble. read more

Absolute crap. We took a yellow cab home around 11:30 pm after a concert on Friday because the LRT was too packed from downtown to the south. Our cab driver lied to us and threatened to kick us out if we didn't pay cash when we first got in. He said his debit machine was broken. I asked him to pull over because we did not have any cash on us-- he then refused to do this and kept saying "we will see" when it came to his machine. When I asked if he was lying he went on a rant about how "we will see for you because your ride is far"-- he was taking us from downtown to the SW end.. I asked him again why his machine wouldn't work and he continued to say it was "because of our area" and we were "too close to the airport." He then asked for me to pay a flat rate of $50 at the intersection of 111 and Ellerslie (5 minutes from our home) and again said his machine would not work where we lived. This is not true as I have taken many cabs and ride sharing companies from my area to other areas in the city and have had no problems. All around it was an awful experience and we felt we were being taken advantage of. He was rude the entire way home and would not let up on paying before we got home. Multiple times he told me to "stop talking" to him when he brought up the machine and asked if my "mother raised me to talk back" because I told him I did not believe what he was saying. These types of experiences are something we encounter regularly which is why we will opt for taking TappCar before choosing to take another taxi in this city. read more

NEVER, NEVER, EVER, EVER use this company to pre-book a taxi if you really want to go somewhere. I booked a taxi to go to a work related dinner at a restaurant downtown. I was told they could not guarantee that the taxi would come at the time of booking and so waited patiently for 20 minutes before calling to enquire when the taxi might be coming. I was told that the taxi had been to the house and it was booked as a no show! As I had been standing by the door of my house I knew full well no taxi had arrived. Then I was told that the driver tried to call me and didn't get an answer - as I had my phone in my hand I knew that wasn't true either. Turns out to be a FAULT WITH THEIR BOOKING SYSTEM AND CARELESS PEOPLE TAKING THE BOOKING. The booking system doesn't necessarily keep the phone number you give them unless the person taking the booking is careful about saving it. Suffice to say I didn't make it to dinner :( read more

So last sunday i had a horrible experience with yellow cab. I phoned around 6:20 and aas told it would take 45 minutes which sucked but i had just finished work and was exhausted. So no big deal i was at kingsway mall so i just waited there. Well 45 minutes later no cab, yellow cab phoned me to apologize which i appreciated but when i pressed them for an approximate wait time they got wishy-washy but told me no longer than 15 minutes. Well a half hour later still no cab, i called yellow cab and they apologized again but wouldnt tell me how much longer it would be. Finally i got a call from a cabbie telling me he would be there in 1 minute and gave me his cab number. I took that cab and got home finally. I waited 1 hr and 20 minutes for my cab. But thats not really why i am so upset, when i got home i got another call, i answered because i figured it was yellow cab checking to make sure i got home. It wasn't, it was another cabbie, when i told him i was already him he proceeded to raise his voice and yell at me about how inconsiderate i was for not phoning the call center and tell them i caught a cab.. i hung up on him after informing him i already waited 1 hr and 20 min. I have used this company for a week and a week it will be only. My first experience, booked the cab on a Saturday at 4 and waited 2 hours , no show, looked online and they had cancelled it!!!! Second encounter was when my husband called and when they asked for the address where he was going and didn't know, my daughter yelled the address to him in the background, the woman dispatcher told him " O someone's being a bitch tell her not to sweat the small stuff". yes like I am going to tell a little girl that!... Then today, the final and last time , I had booked last night and messaged to call when they arrived , looking out my window I see them pull up (with no call) I grab my boots and walk out the door and there gone. I called and said they left without me and the woman said that it was my fault and that they don't have to wait and expect me to be outside ( in minus weather), Terrible customer service from the dispatchers part. Then he finally came back and I told him which way to go to my work, we were driving and my phone buzzed. I saw the cabbie look at me thru the mirror instantly so I used my phone and looked back up to be on a completely different area than I told him to go! I said where are we going I told you to go down another way, he said o no this way is faster, I looked around and he had taken an exit that takes an extra 20 minutes to get to my work. I refused to pay him unless he got back on route and deducted the reroute. then he tried to drop me off at a completely diff place I said this is not my work , he said o sorry I don't know where it is,,,, and yet you knew the quicker way.... ps I work in the west ed mall, why would a cab driver not know how to get there. Then finally getting to my work gave me a dirty look when I didn't tip. YOU made me late for work and cost me money !!!! WORST SERVICE EVER!
