I was visiting town and was at a event where this company had some representatives the gentlemen I talked to was really pleasant and I thought I would try this car service. Don't do it! the drivers are unprofessional the car was flashing the gas light, high beams and the the engine light on!!! My safety is important! most of the drivers are ok I had one driver when I first started using them I texted the person I was already late for work i had to be there by 2 pm so could they please hurry up as i was already late for work English was not the persons first language So the misinterpreted my text message they arrived an hour late I asked them why they arrived an hour late When i texted them that i was already late for work and now I was going to be 3 hours late for work the person said it exactly like this "Oh i could no get to you by 2 so I sitting in car waiting for you to cancel " I believe if you cancel a trip the drivers get a cancelation fee . I guess he thought i said to pick me up by 2 and not that i was already late . think all he looked at is the 2pm to him my text message was this #######2pm******** and he did not understand the rest of the words . out of about 10 rides most of them had provided excellent service even got a guy who gave me a free bottle of water . but the thing that made me turn away from them is that twice when they first started they updated there application when they update there application you have to re register and create a new account I had about 10 or twenty dollars in my tap car wallet that disappeared with the update i suggest that if you use any of these ride applications just put money in when you need a ride because if they update your money disappears . read more

I used both Uber and Tapp Car for the very first time to day. Here are a few thoughts on Tapp Car. Helping Mom with a Doctor appointment today and wanted a driver. My ride went from near Jasper Place High School to the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute at the U of A Hospital. I was very happy to be able to book Tapp Car in advance through the app. This is most certainly a selling point for me. Our driver was about ten minutes early and very helpful. Mom uses a walker and he happily loaded it into the trunk for us. Most traditional taxi drivers seem reluctant to get out of the vehicle. I was somewhat curious when he was waiting in the alley instead of in front of our home. Apparently that's where his GPS directed him. (He certainly wasn't using Waze.) Our driver had been with Tapp Car for about two months. He had a general idea where we were going though I had to give more precise directions once we got closer to. Not a huge deal in my books. His driving was efficient and courteous. Unlike some of the cabs who always seem to be driving like bats out of hell. Tapp Car was clean and comfortable. Even in the back seat. I'm nearly 6' and felt comfortable. Contrary to most of the other reviewers, I prefer the Tapp App over the Uber App. Though both seemed fairly straightforward and easy for me to use. Though you have to register with a credit card, Tapp Car allows you to pay the driver cash. (Uber doesn't accept cash.) Cost was $17 for a mid-afternoon drive on a Friday. Return trip with Uber was $34 due to 2.2x surge. Between Tapp and Uber, my preference is Tapp but not by much. Mainly because you can book ahead and they're a local Edmonton company. Tapp Cars look more professional as they have actual logos on the side versus the window sticker Uber uses. Both Tapp and Uber are a welcome addition to the transportation market. read more

The TAPPCAR app does not accept US credit cards. I tried adding three different cards before I figured out the problem. I then called the company and learned that they will send a car for you if you give them your cell phone number. Unfortunately, US phone numbers don't work. A big waste of time - useless to foreign visitors and all to save $10. read more

Ok so my fair was estimated at 6.80 but when I got to my destination the meter said 3.60 so I assumed my visa debit was only charged 3.60 but when I looked on my statement later that day they charged me the full amount of 6.80 and took an additional 3.00 $ off my account super shady practices and the level of professionalism is -100 just terrible I highly recommend that YOU DO NOT USE THIS CAR SERVICE AS ITS DREADFUL WILL NEVER USE TAPPCAR AGAIN read more

Tapp Car cares for both Drivers and Passengers they help Albertan drivers earn money as a local company in Alberta they commission very small amount plus GST from the fare, Tapp Car fare is lower than Uber. Uber commissions 25% of gross earning and 5% GST then take home for driver is 70% of gross earning only driver earns less and money goes to international places like US, Philippines, that's not fair lets help Alberta, Canada so pls take Tapp Car. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE... We tried to use Tapp Car last night coming in from Toronto at the Edmonton International Airport. We booked in Toronto with 5 hours notice. When we arrived in Edmonton, the plane was about 10 minutes late. We got some sort of message that we could not hear or understand when we called the number back, there was no answer. We called TAPP and they told us that the driver had taken another fare. We tried the various numbers and they went to voice mail. We have been using this number for over 30 years starting with Aaron Taxi. Thanks so much Tapp. There are lots of choices out there and TAPP is our last choice. Tried TappCar for my first time. It has been ages since I've used a standard taxi - but this time I felt like trying something new. TappCar didn't arrive or even call me. 5:45pm was the scheduled time of arrival and now it is 7pm at my destination. I ended up driving my group to where we needed to be (company Christmas party) - certainly no drinks for this guy. Thank you, TappCar. Heh, I'm not really a drinker anyways. I tried calling three times to see what was going on with the driver. The first time I reached someone who put me on hold which ended up a dropped call after about five minutes. The other two calls also reached someone who said something to me which I couldn't make out. I ended up on hold both times. We couldn't be late so I ended up driving. Two stars rating provided mainly because I have yet to try the service. In my opinion, it takes two strikes to earn a one star rating. I guess I'm being generous. read more

Took my first Tapp car today. Relatively painless. Good alternative to uber which I havent frequented very often. And an even better alternative to taxis. The app is definitely helpful. Its nice to know where your driver is at before he gets there. Its a local company so thats a nice bonus with reasonable fares too. Driver was friendly and courteous and its nice to know that they have commercial insurance so you are covered if you are in an accident. All in all I would probably use it again. Especially going downtown. Hate parking down there. They get 4 stars because they are a relatively new business and In a pinch Tapp Car does the job. read more

As an alternative to Uber that worked well in downtown. The driver was a lovely Iranian gentlemen who arrived early and used to be an uber driver before uber got shut down. The interface for the app is respectable, the maps and navigation for the driver could use some improvement. Overall for a relatively new entrant into to the taxi substitute market, not a bad service. Sign up and ordering a cab was fast and straight forward. The cost was higher than expected but I guess that is the price for going legit. read more

My friend and I were visiting Edmonton when we heard about Tapp Car. We were given a promotion discount so we figured we would give it a try. The car took over twice as long to arrive than we were told and when it did arrive it wasn't in great condition. There was a mark on the outside and the inside just felt dirty. Our hotel wasn't that far away so the taxi we took to get to the venue only cost $10; however TappCar was $12 even with the discount. We will not be using again read more

Not a very good ride share company. They don't have enough drivers to pick you up in Edmonton. It takes an average of 30 mins to 1 hour to find a driver in your area. Very disappointing ride share company. Unlike Uber, you can find a ride in less than 5 minutes with Uber in Edmonton. I would not recommended TappCar for your ride sharing. It's way more expensive than Uber. I recommend using Uber instead of TappCar. Their app sucks, It crashes all the time. read more

Failed to stop at a stop sign on 109th street, and at a double left turn he turned from the inside left lane into the outside lane almost causing a collision. I discovered an unauthorized charge on my credit card committed by tappcar. No responses to my emails. My credit card company confirmed it was fraudulent activity via tapioca. I finally was able to contact tapp by phone. They promised to reverse the charge. That is end of my use of account and use of this service. Beware! read more

I ordered a car for a ride 24 hours earlier. I needed a ride to go from my home in Riverview area Winnipeg to the Forks. Ride was scheduled for 5:00 pm. At 4:22 pm they informed me they do not have any drivers. This was my first and most likely last time I use them. Real bush league!!! read more

The most surprising thing about TappCar isn't their complete lack of customer service or disregard for competence, it is their apparent aversion to earning money. After more than one experience with TappCar in which a driver told me I was too far to pickup or the address I gave him was too complicated, I now know not to request them for pickup. Thankfully, it is still a reliable service if you can find a TappCar driving around. Actually, that is entirely untrue. Just last night I got into a TappCar who refused to drive me despite my willingness to pay, because he wasn't sure if the app would connect. But he did remedy the situation by recommending an alternative TappCar driver. Of course, the incompetent new driver refused to drive to 104th street and 82 ave because it was too far. Whyte Ave, the city's popular nightlife district, was too far for a car service on a Saturday night. This company is incredibly self-defeating and utterly useless. This was written from the backseat of a taxi cab (which I despise). TappCar has to seriously reevaluate their product if they want to remain relevant in this fledgling industry. Had an awful experience, app is wonky, took 3 times as long as Uber for me to get picked up, driver did not know where they were going and then I got hounded for a tip. Was this supposed to be an improvement from taxi? Wonderful experience. Visiting Edmonton, and needed a lift to the train station. We called ahead to schedule a pickup for the following day. Our driver arrived early, and patiently waited for us. I definitely appreciate an early arrival vs. a late or no-show. Our driver, Anteneh, was fabulous. Very professional and punctual. If I could give this service zero stars I would! I booked my ride the night before to make sure I would be able to leave home on time to catch an early flight to work. (flight was at 7 am with a strict cut off for check in at 6 am). I should have known everything would go awry when I booked it, but I had faith in the new service trying to make it in Edmonton. When I booked, I received the confirmation email and text, with the driver's name and license plate. And then I received another. And another. AND ANOTHER.... worried, I called the company and the man I spoke to (very nice and polite I will admit) explained there was a glitch in the system and he confirmed which driver was to pick me up and stated that he would be there for my requested time and have a credit machine on hand. Fast forward to 5:25 am when I was due to be picked up. Yup a no show. I waited ten minutes and called, the lady explained the system was new and it glitched out. She put me on hold for 5 minutes and said a driver would be there within 5 minutes. By the time the guy showed up I was in my car driving myself because by that time I was half an hour behind schedule. I barely made my flight cut off no thanks to tapp car. I thought I'd have a better experience than an Edmonton cab but boy was I wrong. From now on I'll be driving myself until UBER comes back! read more

Booked the day before as I needed to get an early ride to catch a bus. Got a confirmation email for my 5:50am pickup. 5:50 rolls around and no car. I call them - they have my reservation but the guy asks "when do you need a taxi"? I say "5 minutes ago!" He responds "oh sorry it's very busy this morning. Incredible. I had booked a Tapp Car for thursday at 1:00 because I had to be downtown at a bus station at 2:00. This was my first experience with Tapp Car and I had high hopes because Uber was such a great service. First what happened was my driver was 25 minutes late to my booked time slot. Secondly the driver did not know how to get where I was going so I literally had to give him step by step instructions downtown so that the quickest route would be taken so I wouldn't miss my bus! Lastly the cost of this service was not much cheaper than a cab so therefore I would not recommend or choose this next time I need to be somewhere on time! read more

Two weeks ago, I took a Tapp car from Palace casino to my hotel room- about 10 minutes away. When I walked into my room, I realized I had left 2 books that I had purchased in a in the car. I immediately called Tapp and explained what happened, they took my number. The next day i called again, and again they took my cell # and I haven't heard from them at all. They made an excuse of "having 300 cars on the road" and I said "I left my new books in one car not in all 300!" I wont be taking Tapp because if you forget stuff in the car, you will never see it again! read more

Never heard of Tapp before. We were co-passengers and went along for the ride.. We were rather disturbed by the heavy smoke in the car and the driver's discussion about issues that should never be discussed with strangers. Our friends needed to give directions to the driver. I would have preferred a taxi. Don't think the savings were worth it. Same driver on the way home and more cigarette smoke in the car. read more

BRUTAL! The driver was completely incompetent. He was on the receiving end of numerous honks before he even pulled up to me. He drove well under the speed limit... and was very dangerous to everyone around him nonetheless. Tappcar obviously did not vet the driver's capabilities. I wish I could say TappCar is better than a cab but it hasn't been in my experience. I live near downtown so I wouldn't think expecting a pick up time of 5-7 minutes ( even like the app usually says) is too much to ask, but I'm having to book 10 minutes earlier than I normally would to allow extra time for them to arrive, like I said, despite the app saying the vehicle is 5 minutes away. More often than not I've had to run out into the street to catch them as they'll drive around the block and in circles despite in some cases, having been there before, and myself putting in very specific instructions since I've run into these issues so many times. Not once has a driver ever apologized for not being able to find me, or even mentioned it. I've been late to work twice now because of the same driver whom I had to give turn by turn directions like he had never been in this city. I've had a driver almost crash into signs and medians. I've had a driver almost swerve into oncoming traffic, and so many other things that are just unacceptable. My bad ratings on certain drivers doesn't prevent them from being assigned my rides which makes no sense to me as well. The app needs a lot of work and the drivers need more training on customer service at the very least. I always felt safe in an uber despite their grey area insurance at the time, but I cannot say the same for tappcar. Due to wait times I've taken a taxi over a tappcar which is really saying something because when uber arrived I never thought I would need to take a taxi again but this has driven me too. Don't get me wrong - I would love to tappcar everywhere if i could, I love that it's Edmonton based, and their basic mission statement ect, but I've had so many bad experiences that I just can't recommend them to anyone at this point and only ever take a Tappcar when a taxi would take longer which is becoming less and less. Taxi drivers now have a reason to step their game up and they seem to be doing a better job right now. When TappCar is ready and able to accommodate for a city of 1000000+ people then I'll write a new review. read more
