Yefsi Chips (fried eggplant and zucchini slices)
    Cyrus A.

Came to Yefsi toward the end of the usual workday lunch period, and had pretty good Greek food! The Yefsi Chips were good, the tzatziki sauce was tangy and creamy. The Greek meatballs tasted good, filled with herbs and spices. And the platter came with a nice sampling of various side dishes, from a salad and french fries to toasted pita. The space is bright, and there's a good amount of seating. We went during down time, so there weren't many staff on the floor but it was still a good experience overall.

I'm not familiar with the UES, so I went on Pulsd to see if I could snag a last-minute reservation for brunch with a friend. After looking at the menu, online we decided to go to Yefsi. From the minute we sat down to when we left, I felt so at home. Our waitress and a man that I believe was the owner or manger were so hospitable. Our Pulsd included bottomless mimosas, and our waitress was very on top of refilling our glasses. We started off w the bread and dip such was delicious. My friend and I both opted for brunch sandwiches, she got the lamb and I got halloumi which were both served with fries and salad. Delicious. Note that if you're paying with a Pulsd, they don't add any extra fees, so be a good person and tip in cash or order a coffee or something so you can leave a tip!

Nice ambiance. Was seated quickly. My friend and I ordered appetizers....I ordered Saganaki...it was fair....also they did not flame it!!! My main dish was hot and tasty. Good but not excellent Server was pleasant. Service was slow. And it was only Wednesday night......

My friend and I had a lovely dinner here. The space inside was warm and intimate, with an inviting vibe. We were served rustic bread with what seemed to be homemade hummus. The bread was nice and soft. For my meal, I selected the Lamb Shank, which was served with Lazanki noodles in a tomato cinnamon sauce. The Lamb Shank was quite impressive in size in a bed of tasty looking noodles with shredded cheese on top, along with fresh rosemary in the center. The Lamb Shank was oh so tender, well seasoned with incredible depth of flavor. The pasta was cooked perfectly and I even enjoyed the sauce (usually not a fan of tomato based sauces). I liked that it had a strong cinnamon taste. My friend and I shared the Small Dessert Platter, which was such a great deal... For $15, we got to sample all 4 desserts. There were Karidopita (Greek walnut sponge cake with honey syrup), Baklava, Galatoboureko (Vanilla custard in phyllo pastry), and finally, Greek yogurt. My favorite was the Karidopita, which was absolutely delicious sticky sweet honey essence cake. The Baklava was crunchy, light, filled with crushed walnuts and glazed with syrupy honey. The Galatoboureko had a wonderful soft, creamy, custardy center and layers of outer dough. Last, the Greek Yogurt came with walnuts, Quince preserves, and more honey. This was a delightful combination. The smooth, milky yogurt paired well with the fruity, almost cherry-like preserves and the honey gave it an added level of yumminess. Service was solid. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I might return at some point for the Baby Lamb Chops or Mousaka.

I had a very nice meal at Yefsi Estiatorio the other night. They have a very nice garden room in the back of the restaurant. The salad was very fresh and the branzino fish was delicious. I also was pleased with the service. I'd visit again!

Wonderful place and wonderful service. I went to Yefsi with a group of 10, and we were able to have our own private patio area with reservation in advance. The place itself is nestled in the quieter UES, but the inside was so popular and packed with people. The atmosphere was lively, but it still felt intimate with each table having its own candlelit space to itself. Lights and Christmas decorations are also currently in full swing! The food was amazing. For the prices, you definitely get a lot of food and feel full afterwards. I ordered the Arni Youvetsi. The lamb came right off the bone, and the sauces were perfect combination. I tried other dishes such as the Soutzoukakia--really flavorful and filling. The service was also great--the chef and owner himself checked in on our table and asked how we all were. Waiters were so attentive too and checked in on us periodically. Overall, Yefsi is a great and warm place to have an intimate dinner or a larger table of friends. The place is busy, so I would make reservations in advance. The lights and candlelit atmosphere sets a more romantic, intimate setting. I definitely recommend the Arni Youvetsi if you like lamb. Otherwise, all things are so flavorful whichever you choose. Highly recommend if you're in UES and want a Greek meal.

We dropped by on a thur winter night for dinner for 4. A longtime mainstay of the neighborhood and was generally packed (~80%). Positives: large menu (dominated by seafood) with extensive appetizer choices. Food was OK but nothing memorable especially given the high prices (which is the biggest negative). The steak was dry. Same with the fish. The half chicken was too saucy. The beef Patties were actually delicious but small serving size. Service was OK (not super attentive but also not overbearing). For beer drinkers, they only have 1 beer offering (Greek bottle) but an extensive wine menu. Ambiance needs some refreshing - Old and dark

Pikilia (greek spread platter) & Horiatiki Salad
    Sandy Y.

Dropped by for a quick bite on Sunday - ordered a smoked salmon omelette, a horiatiki salad, and pikilia spread platter to share. In terms of service, they were efficient and the food came out quickly. After we got seated, free house hummus and bread was served. As for what we ordered, different spreads in the pikili were good and had their own charm. The salad was standard and nothing special. The smoked salmon omelette was good and the side of greek fries (served with all egg and salad brunch dishes) helped fill the plate (and my stomach).

Great authentic Greek spot on the UES! They have outdoor seating in the front on the sidewalk along with a cute patio in the back. Make sure to make a reservation as their outdoor seating is limited. The food was a little pricey but definitely worth the quality as it was delicious and unique! We had the grilled octopi for an app; soooo fresh and light! The lamb kebob was seasoned to perfection and the moussaka was also great but a little oily. Most entrees were between $20-$30. The service was good; our waitress gave honest suggestions about the food. Overall, loved this little gem! Would definitely recommend.

OH MY 10/10 IT WAS CREAMY BUT NOT OVERLY CREAMY. THE CRUST WAS GIVING BROWN BUTTER. IT WAS SO GOOD. OH MY I LOVE. NOT TOO SWEET service: EVERYONE WAS SO NICE & GENUINE. I LOVE IT HERE.

Kiki's has been on my list since I moved to NYC ~5 years ago and it was finally time to try it out!…read moreI went with a group of 4 on a Friday around 6:45pm. Unsurprisingly, there was a long line to put down our names on that gloriously warm and sunny spring evening. We were told the wait time was 1-1.5 hours which honestly went by so fast because there are so many fun places around the area. We got our table at around 8pm in the restaurant area right across the street. I can definitely see the timeless appeal of this place-- the vibes are so fun, the energy is young and vibrant, lights are dim, the music is loud, the smell of sizzling grilled meats and fries fills the space -- all of this hidden behind the facade of a printshop in Chinatown. It's a one-of-a-kind place. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. We shared: - bottle of orange wine: very generously priced which we easily split amongst us 4. The wine was bright, refreshing and had a lot of body. - dips: we ordered the tzaitziki and the fava bean dip. They accidentally gave us the tirokafteri (or spicy feta) initially which was ironically my favorite dip out of the ones we tried, with the perfect creamy and spicy balance. The tzaitziki was also delicious, refreshing, and cool. The fava bean dip eventually came and it was a bit flat in flavor and texture compared to the other two. It tasted like blended fava beans with some capers on top and no other flavor elements. It was also a bit dry and I was expecting a texture more similar to hummus. The dips came with very delicious pita/regular bread and we also asked for cucumber slices for our gluten free friend (didn't know this was an option but cool!). - octopus: pretty small portion for 4 people but amazing! The octopus was super tender and flavorful. Considering how busy this place is, I was surprised at how well made this was. They have the dish mastered. Highly recommend! Would order again. - gigante beans: tomato bean stew, pretty good and filling! Good to share if you want something a bit more hearty and warm. Also gluten free! Perfect for colder months. - saganaki: I think I would come back exclusively for this alone. It's the perfect dish: the salty and melty cheese is packed inside layers of crispy, flaky, buttery phyllo, with sweet honey on top. This had the perfect balance of flavors and textures. I would order one for myself next time. Definitely a crowd favorite. - mixed grill: the menu said this was for 3 but it was actually a very generous portion for us 4. Delicious meats: it had lamb chops, some chicken and pork souvlaki, Greek sausage, and ground beef patties, all over a bed of well seasoned fries and pita. Truly a stellar dish. Perfect to share and super satisfying. - desserts: we tried the baklava and cheesecake. The baklava came completely without structure and was not that good (too heavy on the cinnamon for my taste and not enough filling), however the cheesecake was rich and creamy with a tangy flavor that perfectly balanced the sweet strawberries and delicious crust! Very well made. My major critique is that the service was quite disappointing. I felt like our waitress was not very kind/ helpful/ was annoyed at us perpetually for no good reason. Additionally, items in our order were messed up or came out too late (which is usually acceptable because we all make mistakes but flagging down anyone for help was virtually impossible). Ultimately, I would probably come again with a group of young people because the food was so good and affordable. The vibe is also pretty unique. However, Kiki's could certainly benefit from polishing its service a bit/ hiring more staff so there is enough attention to customers. While they understandably manage tremendous volumes of people, especially over weekends, that should not come at the expense of the customer experience.

How does this place have a 4.5 star rating?…read more We've been here many times as it's close to home. The food is always a solid 3/5, at best. It doesn't matter if you're getting a horatiki salad, pikilia, souvlaki of any kind, or a piece of salmon. The pita is bad, but everything else is just fine. Then you'll get the bill and ask yourself how you just dropped $250+. $18 for two pieces of halloumi? A 25% tip? And why does my stomach hurt? The servers are kind enough. The hosts are oblivious. Maybe you'll be blessed with a table by the bathroom or a door tonight? Maybe you'll get your delivery within the next hour? Do not ever order delivery from here. Ignore the delay for a moment. Everyone makes slips. $80+ got us 1) a chicken platter 2) two small soggy slices of halloumi 3) a salad with a single lukewarm chicken kebab on the side. The food was fatty, greasy, cold, and looked like it had been leftover and reheated from someone else's plate. Perhaps the delivery kitchen is different than the dine-in one? We were starving, so please pray for us - hopefully no one starts feeling sick tonight. Yasouvlaki is an awesome place to take your parents visiting from the suburbs or another state. Don't go here because you want real Greek food. And don't bring your Greek friends here, either. They'll be mad at you. 2 stars is generous.
