If you haven't checked out Yearbook, you're missing out! A true gem located in Forest Park, IL. Yearbook gets my vote as the best shop! A great mix of antiques, vintage decor, and great gift ideas! The visual displays are on point. You can tell the shop owners plan out every detail and their passion and dedication shine through! Their window displays are just a tiny snap shot of the amazing shop that Yearbook is. In addition, their design services are top notch! If you're lucky, during your visit, you may get to meet the official Yearbook mascot, shop dog Henry Clarence. Henry is currently running for president and has done an amazing job raising money for all the animals at the Oak Park animal shelter. I highly recommend Yearbook! I have been missing out on the new stuff on the street of dreams for the past few years - alienated by restrictive parking and terrible traffic. When a friend mentioned that there was a VIP shopping night at three places I had heard of and wanted to go to, I was all in. We were assigned to Yearbook first and I was so impressed by everything about the store. From the friendly owner and manager, to the quality of the products and the incredibly reasonable pricing - plus the special discount for that night! I finally got the maple syrup jug (made and bottled just for them) that the husband had wanted and picked up some of their store-exclusive candles (no typical boring scents here!) and a vintage travel case and some wood handled toothbrushes. I've got to go back soon and visit the studio to have some crew-themed pillows, etc. made to bring me back to the days when I actualy rowed. I am so glad we had this forum to shop because I would have missed that things you would just assume are decoration (because they are vintage) are actually for sale! Did you know that businesses can pay Yelp to remove reviews if a business finds it inappropriate or vulgar? Me neither......until today. I wrote the below review for this business and it has since been removed. Obviously, this owner is insecure and used a social media site to negate my First Amendment Right. There is absolutely nothing in my review that was inappropriate, slanderous, or written with offensive writing. It was a simple and HONEST review about a business and it's employees and strongly discussed an industry that I am very aware of and accustomed to. Shame on you Yearbook owners. This really shows that your 16 reviews had probably been more if you hadn't paid to have other reviews removed, thus explaining your almost 5 star review average which I already thought was suspicious. Not cool. ********************************************************************************************* While this place is very visually appetizing, I will say that it's prices and customer service are not up to par. I have been an antique lover for a long time before Vintage was "in" and have found and added to my collections along the way from various places in the city, out of states, garage sales, etc. If you love Vintage items, you know how to look for the right pieces and through the years of getting accustomed with the types of items, you know roughly what they should be reasonably priced at. I understand that this is a business, but a lot of their prices are really through the roof and not reasonable with what other shops in and around Oak Park can offer or some of my old Lincoln Square stores. Their front window is very visually amazing and makes you really see the artistic side of their collections and how they visually put things together, but the price tag will always keep me at bay. I am by no means a cheap person, but I think the quality and uniqueness should be par with the pricetag and Yearbook falls short. Also, a tall man who I believe was the owner or a manager saw me browsing through the store and was giving me dirty looks and rolling his eyes as I would look at the prices and put items back down. I understand that most people who do not know their collectables would pay your ridiculous prices, but I'm sorry that I believe in quality for said price. He must have missed my Vintage Coach purse that I was shopping with. Either way, I will take my business to other places who have great quality and are more affordable. P.S. This store... THIS STORE!!!!! I spent at least an hour in here looking at EVERYTHING. Its vintage-preppy-masculine-clean makes me want to move in and never leave. The glassware is phenomenal, the candles are so wonderful and decidedly neutral (no frou frou here), and I almost bought a canoe. If you need a gift for a man, or a woman, or a boss, or anyone!!! The VOLUSPA CANDLES are fantastic. Chestnut & Vetiver is the best scent to ever enter my nasal canal. Second best is the "Library" scent from Y.B. Supply Co. I don't understand how this place can be compared to a certain other semi-local store. Yearbook's owners are friendly, funny, and have a fantastic and beautiful store. The other store can't even compare, especially after you take into account their rude and extremely inhospitable owner. Bottom line: Got a man in your life, or just prefer neutral or masculine items? Yearbook Yearbook, what to say about Yearbook. Hunker down, kiddies, because mama's gonna paint you a word picture. The very fact that I haven't reviewed this gem yet speaks volumes for my slacking-power when it comes to Yelp and school. That being said, I could not love this store any more than I do. As a general rule of thumb, I like to step into my favorite locally-run businesses at least every month. With Yearbook, I have to force myself to stay away because I know I could come in every week, find something different each time, and walk away having spent my hard-earned cash on yet another item in my already over-stuffed apartment. When I first saw Yearbook, I thought it was a camera store. When I told the workers, they laughed and said "That must have been July or August because that's when we had our camera displays up in the window". Huh. New displays, you say? This was surprising coming from the men who work there. Don't let their tattoos fool you. Their argyle sweaters blend in perfectly with the ivy-league antique/yuppy goods they sell. It's overfilled to the maximum capacity, so I would not recommend braving this store with a stroller or a dog (although I have seen people shopping in this area with their dogs and it gives me pause every time...). The employees (they could be the managers or owners as I see them both every time I stop by) pride themselves on their antique men's items case in the back corner of the store. If I had the money, I'd buy a pair of their antique Ray-Bans. But alas, I spend my money on vessels and housewares instead. They're more than happy to let you sample some of their maple syrup-- it's locally made out east and bottled in custom growlers for the store. I've got to say, it's one of the things that got me hooked on the place way back in the beginning of my love affair with their books and collections. They use their antiques to their advantage, setting them up and using library ladders/lockers to display other items. It's a beautiful store and even if you're just browsing, I guarantee it's worth your while just to stop in and see what they've got today/this week. read more

This store wasn't quite what I was expecting, but now that I think about the name it's pretty clear I wasn't thinking. We came to check out Yearbook on a chilly Fall day. When we first stepped in we were greeted by the scent of candles and warmth of old wood and warm antiques. They have a lot of old-school varsity type items. It made me feel like I was wandering around the set of School Ties or something - which I don't mean in a bad way, it was nice. The owners were very friendly. While I didn't find anything that fit what I was looking for, I'm sure I'll stop in again and I hope they do well. read more

This place is amazing. The moment you walk in you realize you are some place special. It's a little hyper-masculine, but approachable. Almost as if you stepped into an Abercrombie catalog, but the catalog is owned by Jennifer Lawrence or something. I'd say it was like walking into a yearbook from Harvard circa early 1900s, but that'd be slightly obvious given the name of the store. From the vintage decorations they sell, to the original items they manufacture, everything about it is great. I walked in and Nick helped me. He was really friendly and knowledgable and answered every question I had. Even random questions that I didn't expect him to have an answer for, he gave me an answer. The owners of the store were really polite and incredibly hospitable. They invite you in and make you feel really comfortable. Their bulldog who hangs out in the back is cute AF too. I ended up buying the collection of pint glasses with prohibition information on them and a few candles. Every candle they sell smelled amazing; the most difficult part was figuring out which ones I wanted. One of the candles was a gift for a friend and they even took time to gift wrap it for me. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because the selection of items is slightly limited. But these guys definitely know what they're doing and I'm sure will be expanding in the near future, which I'm assuming would broaden the types and amounts of the products they sell. Yearbook is a great plot-twist in my vintage/antique-loving book. It's a bit different than most would expect... The shop itself hosts a medley of antique, vintage, and new items, most of which have a preppy, masculine vibe. Most of the merchandise looks like it walked right off a Wes Anderson movie set - which, believe me, is a good thing! The guy working the shop when we went in could have been a bit friendlier, but it's not like he was rude or anything, so it doesn't concern me much. The shop was neat and tidy, well lit, dust-less, pretty organized, and had a welcoming atmosphere. This is a good place to go for some aesthetic decor to spruce up your home, or for a gift for any guy in your life. Everything is so unique, classic, attractive to the eye, and trendy. I recently stopped into Yearbook to look for a birthday gift. They have so many different items in stock that it can be a little overwhelming, but in a good way. It's well curated, beautiful, and inspires me to blow a paycheck on a mix of stuff I do and don't need. While some of the stuff in stock is expensive (Pendelton blankets and candles, straight razors, cookware, etc.) it is something I consider an investment. This isn't the kind of store where I could afford to buy a new piece every week- it's a once every other month kind of place for me, but what keeps me coming back is that my business was made to feel important, too. And the pieces are gorgeous, but we all know that. The guy behind the counter was also super nice and talkative, which definitely helps bring a warmth as well. Jef is a design and branding wizard! I came to him without any vision or direction for building a brand for my real estate business. All I knew was that I needed to do a better job of branding myself in my community. We had a 30 minute consultation and he asked me some questions, took notes and told me he would get back to me within a week. I was absolutely blown away with the logo and branding he did. It is perfect and everything I never knew I wanted. It was such a through process that I have absolutely no questions if something is brand appropriate or not because Jef clearly laid out the feeling of "Aubrey Jacknow Homes". I rolled out my logo at a local event and of the 500+ people who were there at least 300 mentioned how much they loved the logo. I have since had a few other events and in just a short amount of time, my logo has been recognized by a few hundred more people locally, which I think is absolutely amazing! Jef's has a way to evoke a mood from a brand that is very hard to find in a designer. I am thrilled that he will be helping me with creative ideas for my annual marketing plan. A wonderful store in which to buy gifts of all varieties, whether it be for holidays, housewarming gifts, birthday gifts, wedding and shower gifts. Bought the most beautiful ocean painting for a gift that was $42, and looks like $402. It's even dated and signed by the artist. There's a lot of sharp decorating items that definitely add panache to a room. Everything was either unique or different or stood out as something special. Looking around affords a lot of ideas for my own home. Definitely a cool place to shop whether one's seriously buying or getting holiday ideas. read more

My husband and I stopped in here after grabbing lunch on Madison Street. I really enjoyed browsing their collection and that day they had a special sidewalk sale going on with 15% off everything in the store. Definitely a wide range of items - like other reviewers have noted, you'll find some items that are quite expensive. However, there is plenty that is very reasonably priced. My husband has been enjoying their line of shaving oils and cologne. Also, have to comment on their excellent customer service. Really nice people who clearly love their jobs and want to make their customers happy. Both in store and via email, I've had great interactions with their staff. Bad Customer Service!! I was looking for a special b-day gift for my husband, who really liked this store. I called the store 3 times during business hours with no answer (really?). Nevertheless, I still trekked over to the store. Walked in and the tall gentleman who clearly works there, heads toward the back without any kind of hello or acknowledgment. I'm the only customer in the store, so I will that personally. I asked for what I was looking for and he curtly told me no. Asked if they had anything similar to it and his response was "I don't even know what that is." Clearly Yearbook is not suffering the financial hardships of other retailers, so they can afford to ignore you and provide poor customer service. I won't be going back. read more

This is an extremely well curated and beautifully designed store. They carry an array of interesting items that change frequently. They have plates, glassware, candles, jewelry and tons of other great items from local artists and custom made and designed by the store. I loved this store from the first time I saw its storefront display. Like the store, it was totally enclosed in vintage looking, campy (literally that one was a camping theme, with lots of flannels, floral background paper, cool old fashioned metal lanterns, plaids, and a set of old lockers with beautiful dishes on them), and warm looking items and decor. Stepping inside, a piney, faintly Christmas-y scent wafted through the open door on my latest visit, even though it was February. Every possible wall and floor space are utilized to present magnificent furniture pieces and treasures, old and new in style, although they all look in new, or at least fresh and clean condition. Great for gifts like new and different plate and cup sets, candles, lotions, and gigantic containers of maple syrup, or just looking around at a lot of interesting stuff, like an elk(?) horn with giant magnifying glass attached to it, laying on an old book atop a vintage green metal piece salvaged from a machine shop, or a pair of beautiful vintage arm chairs in burgundy, that are hard to get up out of, with clawed wooden feet (at least that's how I remember them). And the gigantic canoe, kayak -- hanging down the center of the ceiling. The guy at the counter who looked like he could be on the store football team, but operating from behind a huge Mac computer, melted into a smile at some of my friend's absurdities regarding the collegiate memorabilia, and told us all about the academic prowess of the two brothers who own the store. read more

I'm not sure what's going on in there. It's displayed well but don't make any sudden turns. You're likely to knock things down. Too much in too small a space. Someone is a great buyer of estate sale items who repackages stuff that Aunt Bea had hidden away in the attic for years. Need an oar or a bar of soap? Hope Aunt Bea left you some money because you'll need it here. I'm not sure I would ever run out of anything that I would need to run in there to get just to hold me over. I will say that it looks a ton better than the grumpy old hoarders who claim their store fronts as antique shops. You decide. Just make sure you come loaded with money. read more
