    6 Wings were just fine.
    Craig W.

This is a very cool down-to-earth bar. Call it a "dive" bar, if you must, but it is really a neighborhood bar. It is casual and comfortable. I tried the wings and, while I have not had all the wings in Los Angeles, these cannot be the best. I ordered them extra crispy and they came crispy and with plenty of sauce. They were good wings but not amazing. At our server's suggestion, I ordered them "suicide" style, which is not on the menu, and which is apparently hotter than the "hot" style. They were not unbearably hot but my lips did tickle for about an hour after eating them. You can get them with either ranch or blue cheese or both. I got both but preferred the blue cheese. We also tried the zucchini sticks and you get a huge basket of them. They were delicious and sounded kind of healthy. I am sure they were not healthy, especially after we dipped them in ranch and marinara sauce, but I am also sure they are healthier than smoking cigarettes so there is that. There are lots of televisions and the Dodgers' fans definitely congregate here. If you want a seat to watch a game, come early or be shut out. Our server was great and we could see all the servers working very hard. There is plenty of free parking in the lot but make sure you get a (free) pass from your server to place on your dash so you can park longer than one hour. Good beer and drink options and lots of specials. This is a very cool neighborhood bar.

The service here is absolutely incredible and easy on the eyes. Shoutout to the bartender Zach for making the best cocktails! Amazing sour whiskey. Food delicious. Wings are out of control with a healthy serving of carrots and celery. My favorite dipping sauce is the blue cheese ranch. If you like pickles, the deep fried pickles are great. There's plenty of parking. Inside is dimly lit and they have different shows playing in screens in the background. I heard once in a while celebrities drop by. The vibe is nice and fun to bring friends.

Old school since 1971. The Rams vs Bears football game had started and we were hoping to hang out here to watch it on their television while sipping on a cold draft beer. Those wishes were crushed when we walked in to find the place so crowded we couldn't even stand in an open area to watch the game.

Yes, this restaurant has the best wings in LA. They are crispy, flavorful buffalo wings with great blue cheese dip. A great spot not too far from DTLA to get chicken and beer with your friends. But, my overall experience from coming multiple times, the service is terrible. Customers could not stand to order drinks at the bar and take them to their table even when things seemed slow and the servers were no where to be seen. The food would take 30-45 minutes to an hour to come out. As it's a dive bar, it can take a little longer for a server to show up. However, if you don't flag them, it will take them forever to check in or serve us.

Birthday bar crawl starts. Location #1

Ye Rustic Inn is a classic L.A. dive bar gem. Great wings, cold beers, and a chill, no-frills vibe that's perfect for catching a game or hanging with friends. They have a patio in the open air in the front along the parking lot area. Dark, woodsy charm and strong drinks give it old-school character. A true Echo Park staple. Long live the jukebox. This was the starting and finishing point on our birthday bar crawl. I'm giving two stars because our group got kicked out at the end. The manager was really rude to one of our partygoers, alleging things that I simply did not see. I would have otherwise been 4-5 stars because this spot is a gem.

Decided this was going to be my group's stomping grounds while we were taking classes together. Not normally a dive bar kind of person but here goes: For the location, I'd say the fish and chips and Reuben are pretty solid choices. That along with $29 pitchers are a pretty good deal for a good time with large parties. You will need to open a tab via the QR code. While you can sit inside for the dive bar experience, outside is defenitely better for bigger groups. Though they will start shuffling people inside after 10pm. It's within walking distance for us. Parking in the plaza isn't too bad but if you do drive. You might need to find street parking.

    Overcharging
    Kimberly R.

I have been coming to this bar for 20+ years and every time I come here they overcharged me. They are actually known for it amongst all my friends and community. Make sure you check your bill! Even though I pointed it out to the waitress they still overcharged me for the higher amount. She added an order of wings that we never ordered to our check. It's the extra $20 +5 dollar tip that really adds up and I think is only reason they've managed to stay in business this long! I tried the Modelo and the Stella and both were flat so whoever is tapping the kegs is not tapping them properly. The only good thing was the nachos.

I've been to this place a few times and it's quickly become my favorite neighborhood bar since I've moved to Los Feliz. The location is great. Right on Hillhurst Ave-- with parking! When you get inside, you find a table and order. Menus are online. It's a no frills dive bar that feels very homey. I always usually get wings and beer here. There are several beers on tap. Yes, the wings are really THAT good. Crisped to perfection and not too saucy. I get the medium heat and it's just the right amount of spicy for me. It comes with a couple carrot and celery pieces. If you're extra hungry, the fries are good too -- and they can make them multiple ways. Overall, a great spot to relax and hangout with some beer and wings.

Decent old fashioned. The Bartender lost their cocktail spoon and used an improvised bent spoon and only charged me the price of a whiskey. It still was a decent tasting old fashioned. The food smelled good and I like the ambiance. This is a very classic pub with decent prices. Incredibly good service and good vibes. They are also friendly towards man's best friend and I saw them give a dog water.

What a friendly local bar and a great place to catch sports. I watched one of the World Cup…read moresemi-final games here and it was the perfect destination. Hungary didn't make it to the World Cup this year so that was a bit of a bummer, considering my fam is from the old country. However, my second all-time fave, France, was still in the semi-finals. You see, I grew up watching Zinedine Zidane and to me, the World Cup brings back childhood memories and family bonding time. The menu items took me back in time. Much to my surprise, I noticed that there was a Hungarian kielbasa & a Debreziner sausage listed on their $10 lunch deal. I was shocked that I had the opportunity to debate over which one to pick. DEBREZINER sausage (in German) or for us Hungarians, is better known as "Debreceni Virsli" and made in the region where my dad's side of the fam grew up. It's often served cut up on the sides and has a richer color. For me, it's a bit juicier and there's more paprika in there. It's more along the lines of chorizo, if that's what your flavorbuds prefer. It's made with sweet and hot paprika, garlic, pepper, and marjoram. If my dad had been with me that day, he'd opt for the Debreziner. After deliberating for a bit, I decided to go with the HUNGARIAN KIELBASA and decked it out with grilled onions, sauerkraut, and jalapeños (very hot, stated the menu). The jalapeños rivaled the outside 100+ degree temperature. Thankfully, the cool AC made me forget it was one sweltering summer's day. Also, the Hibiscus Cider was crisp and made my experience and the lackluster game worth my time out. I loved how easy the ordering went-just tap the menu on the iPad and voila, you got the whole spiel. Service was quick and felt welcoming like I was at home in someone's living room with tons of TVs all around. Sadly, France didn't show up to play in the game until the last 5 mins or so. Spain obvi deserved the win and yes, this year's cup for their fancy footwork. The vibe was great and the crowd around me were locals on a first name basis with the staff. With awesome cider and food as tasty as I had growing up at home, I think I'll make it a goal to be on a first name basis around here during the NHL & NFL season.

My bf ordered 2 beers, we got some lemon pepper dry rub wings, fries, and brioche link which were all fantastic. The fries here are THICK but very good!! Love the crispy bits and they're not oily, perfectly salted as well. Their Cusabi Ranch is a MUST try. I dipped both my wings and fries in them. It's a cucumber wasabi ranch dip and super refreshing!! Overall the vibe and food were great, drinks and prices excellent, and staff, even better. We are definitely looking forward to coming back again! IG: @ammysalamii

That bar was so busy given the season and that was of expectation, but I watched the bartenders specifically handle it like a cake walk and even better, my drinks were FANTASTIC. From the Espresso Martini that got my not-so-young self through the night, to the Carajillo--those were elite cocktails and I had low hopes honestly. It's the perfect place to get your buzz on before you get yourself to The Greek. Or simply grab some bites and connect with friends in a casual setting. Personally, I choose to sit at the bar, but there are communal tables and more intimate booths, as well as patio seating with the massively tall, old, and iconic everygreen trees along Los Feliz Blvd. to further set the tone. I've been coming here for years just for the oysters. I'm a glutton for those shucked delicacies and Messhall does it up right for a great price during happy hour. On Tuesdays, they're $1 each and Wednesday Happy Hour prices are $2/oyster. They're always fresh and served with mignotte sauce (shallots + red wine vinaigrette). I like to pair my oysters with a martini so I often opt for the Gin Gimlet ($10) because crazy people love their gin. Or if you can take advantage of their Mini 'Tini ($6), then do so. Again, I go for a Gin Mini 'Tini because well, crazy people love gin. However, Vodka is another option for these adorable mini drinks for lightweights like moi. For the carnivorous souls, the Backyard Burger looks filling enough and there's a Hangar Steak with Frites (aka fries) that looks amazing and you can get that for $20 during Wednesday nights, which isn't bad these days for a solid piece of moo. The "Blackened Shrimp Slider" on the HH Menu isn't bad for $3. So if you're jonesing for a cabin-like vibe with a modern twist, Messhall is a good stomping ground for locals, and bar service is always on point. *** FUN FACT: Speaking of those evergreen trees just out front. They're often confused for pine trees, but they're actually "Cedar Deodora Trees" that were planted in the 1920s. They're like a century old now, which further adds to the charm of this area. Now if only they could share their opinions of Messhall. I bet they'd have a few campfire stories of their own to tell. ***

Why such a long hiatus? The tap list over the last months just hasn't had anything I've wanted to drink. It's been a lot of repeats of things I've had over and over or beers that just aren't appealing -- or, in many cases, both. The Glendale Tap used to have a fairly good turnover of new brews, but lately, it seems to be in a rut. Imports are pretty much never to be seen -- like everywhere else, sadly. Even out-of-state beers are rare. And on my most recent visit, at least half of the tap list was tapped out. IPAs and sours take up so much of the list -- stouts in the cooler months -- while styles like bitters, milds, (non-India) pale ales, brown ales, bocks, amber lagers, smoked beers, etc., get little to no space on the tap list. I still love the atmosphere of the Glendale Tap, and the bartenders there are the best. Prices are fair, and there's always something at least decent to drink. But I miss those fulsome tap lists with a variety of beer styles from far and wide. More and more, the Glendale Tap is becoming too much like every other beer bar. I know L.A. beer drinkers are extremely parochial with very limited tastes (basically IPA, IPA, IPA, and IPA, with some super sours thrown in), but I would hope the Glendale Tap could return to just a smidgen of its former excellence. Until then, I probably will be visiting biannually instead of bimonthly.

They do have parking behind the building which seems to fill pretty quickly if they're busy, but it's easy to find parking around the neighborhood. I am not usually in the tavern scene so I was surprised that we had to order and pay at the bar, but it wasn't a big issue. My friend and I split the kale caesar salad and the macaroni and cheese. For the table, I ordered the waffle fries after being informed by the kind waitress that that was the better choice over the pretzel (which she also said was amazing). Since the place was filling up for the final, the kitchen was a bit slow, but we barely noticed with how attentive the staff were in getting us drinks and refills. When it came to food, we were pleasantly surprised with this place and is honestly the reason I'm writing this review. The first things we got were the Beef Tallow Waffle Fries, Caesar Salad, and mac and cheese. Obviously the fries were much better, however the salad was also divine but just swimming in dressing. Back to the fries, we all were mindblown with how tavern fries could be this good and had so many flavors. Even the skinny queens in our group kept snacking on them which tells you how good these were. Mac and cheese came and it was standard and creamy but not necessarily something I'd return for. The surprising thing on top of the fries that majority of us loved was the Vegan Tomato Scampi with shrimp. It was fire and had me questioning if it was even Vegan. Would definitely return here if I find my way back to SoCal from the Bay. Great unassuming place with great food and vibes. Their bathroom as well is super clean and nice! Love this place!
