My favorite place in town for subs. The bread is awesome and everything is made fresh. It is a small little place, but they do have a few small tables if you want to sit. If not, great for takeout or to take to a bench and look out at the mill. Definitely recommend this place. read more

I got the Italian sub and beer cheese soup about a week ago. The Soup was really good. Not too much salt, just about as good of a cheese soup as I have had. The sub, which is what I really went there for was just ok. I am from the area, and it may be one of the better choices in clinton, but not even close to some of the sandwiches you can get 30 minutes east of here. The bread was a bit disappointing, the meat was average and peppers just ok. One last thing, a sandwich is about $17, which is about double what Fiore's in hoboken charges for their 18" and this place is no Fiore's. May go back for the soup but not the sandwich. read more

You truly get what you pay for and the service is great. Pros: Service and choice and great soups too! Prices are just right and you get a better portions then the other sub eateries in and around Clinton. Cons: You have to time it right in the day to get your food as sometimes they run out of bread and they close up shop early. I grew up in Hunterdon County but had never been to Ye Olde Sub Base, until the other day. They were also a featured sub place on the munchmobile tour, so I knew I had to give this place a shot. Located on Main St in Clinton, it's a pretty cool place. Pretty big and extensive menu but not a lot of tables to sit at. Maybe 4-5. I must say that the service was awesome. We ordered our sandwiches and they were in front of us before you knew it. This place definitely has their act together. As far as the subs go, my wife and I split their super italian sub. It was good - it definitely wasn't loaded with meat but it was a very solid sub. Good quality meats and the veggies tasted very fresh, too. I would have to think this is easily one of the best sandwich shops in Hunterdon County. They probably don't have a ton of competition, but this place would be decent anywhere. I am not saying it is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had but it was a good meal. On a couple of side notes, I thought the prices were very reasonable and they had a very good drink and chip selection. I think any good deli should have a solid chip selection. I was in town for a day and needed lunch. I found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out. Very happy I did. I had a tuna salad sub and mistakenly ordered a "whole". It was at least a foot long - and not the skimpy footlongs at a national chain I'll never go to that are more bread than filling. The tuna here tasted fresh, as were the toppings, and all were very generously portioned. But for me the bread makes or breaks the sandwich. In this case, the huge sub roll was fabulous! Been here several times and each time the sub has gotten less enjoyable. I get the super Italian and the meat is just not the same. I do not think it is Thumann's or it is not the same Thumann's I get from Primo subs I get in Easton. Won't be going back as I think it is on par with Quiznos now but more expensive. I've lived in the Clinton area for my whole life and for the past decade have been making stops at the Ye Olde Sub Base, a locally owned and operated sub shop that is simply put, of the most superb quality. Scott, the owner has always hired great people to work there, and at the time of this review I believe he has his best staff ever - they are all friendly, courteous, and quick in helping you, willing to engage you with a joke or sports talk or world news discussion. Great guys who obviously have a lot of fun together. Five stars for them! But the food they make is also superb. Whether it's one of their forty plus subs on great bread that is baked fresh daily or one of their amazing homemade soups (there simply aren't enough superlatives to describe their world famous BeerCheese!) I can promise you that nothing you order will disappoint! As a bonus they are now making homemade cookies, which, in a word, are divine! Whether you need a great sub or just a place to relax and eat some soup while watching a game I cannot recommend this place too much. I'm looking forward to another decade of dining there! read more

I work locally to them and contacted them to obtain a menu. They advised me to go to the Rewards Network to get their menu, because they do not have a fax machine. I printed the menu from the page, distributed it and took orders. I was VERY disappointed, when I went to pick up the order and was told that the total was more than I collected based on the prices indicated on the RN menu posted. The subs and sandwiches were not that good....the soup was cold and the salads VERY small. We were significantly overcharged based on the menu prices available. VERY, VERY DISAPPOINTED. If you want a good sub/sandwich in the Clinton area, go to the Annandale Deli....MUCH BETTER! read more
