    :-) !!!!

I grew up in Clinton and this has always been an incredible lunch staple in our community. However, a few years the bakery who used to supply their bread unfortunately burned down. Three stars because the bread they use now just is not the same, hate it. And therefore, two stars for the sandwiches they're making today. Four stars for their Yuengling Cheddar Soup though! It's absolutely divine. So much flavor and super velvety. These guys have been pumping this out longggg before the beer cheese soup fad :-)

We stopped here today for the first time and ordered the turkey and cheese sub. We both have big appetites so we got 2 large subs and I can honestly say one fed us so we had plenty to enjoy 2 meals! It was absolutely delicious and we will be back!

The bread! The potato salad, the subs! It's great! There is nothing overwhelming the sandwich, it's just perfect. Nice combination of a good choice of Italian meat and cheese, with fresh vegetables and a little oil and vinegar. What I like is that everything is sliced really thin. That way you don't get a mouthful of onion or pepper, you get it. The potato salad is excellent. Again, the potatoes sliced thin, unlike the chunks you get in other salads. The clencher here is that everybody is so friendly. I am not from anywhere around Clinton, but people don't hold it against me driving around with Massachusetts plates.

Ye Olde Sub Base is neither midieval nor an actual base. It is a small sub shop which manufactures submarine sandwiches that rival the actual size of real-life submarines. The subs, painstakingly churned out through an assembly line (one person to take the order and one to make the sandwich), are without question dramatically more tasty than an actual metal sub. Ye Olde Sub Base is a no-nonsense sub shop with friendly, attentive and quick service on a strip of Main St. in Clinton. Ambience is not the strong point here, nor should it be. It is all about the bread, the meat and the fixings and it is completely worth a visit and well worth their cost. On my first visit, I ordered up a turkey sub. When prompted for a choice between small and large, I asked to see the large and then ok'd it so as not to look like a sub-sissy. The roll looked large with nothing in it, but when I was handed this five pound monster I left like I was walking back to work with a healthy mackerel in a bag. This large sub became lunch one day and dinner the next, all for $10.50. If you are not Andre the Giant, your lunch order will only necessitate a half - unless you want leftovers (you will).

Truly the best place for a sub in Hunterdon.

Great food but overpriced. 1 roast beef sub, 1 small soup and two soda $26.00. Rent must be high in this Richie rich area.

Great subs at good prices. The subs are packed with meat and the people working there were great. I would suggest the Bowser.

I ordered a pumpernickel bagel with Taylor ham, egg, & cheese. The fillings were good but oddly the pumpernickel (which looked right) didn't taste right. It wasn't inedible but it was missing an ingredient (rye or molasses or something), it just tasted like oddly plain bread. Pumpernickel is my favorite go-to, so I was a bit disappointed. My spouse had a dried tomato bagel with the same fillings as mine & he enjoyed his. I would say that the restaurant could use a bit of a refresh, along with boxes opened up & dealt with (ex: several boxes of tables or chairs lying on the ground). I needed to take a headache pill while there & sadly there was no access to drink a little tap water (I did find a cup and some ice and managed with that). I think this location has potential especially with its location, but hope they might have some time to put in a bit more detail to freshening the space, a bit of elbow grease, and ensuring proper ingredients. I wanted to end with the positive note that I did like that they seem to be creating unique cream cheese and bagel flavors that I haven't seen elsewhere.
