What gem!! Last night we stopped by for a quick bite and we were pleasantly surprised. From the outside it looks so unassuming but don't let that fool you. The food was fabulous! We ordered the garlic knots, the arugula goat cheese salad, eggplant parmigiana, ribs and one of there specials (chicken with vodka sauce over pasta) and all of us truly enjoyed the freshness and the flavors. This place is amazing! We just stuffed our bellies and I'm already thinking about the next time we can come back. The mussels were out of this world! The homemade bread, the homemade basil salad dressing, and bread dip were so delicious. For our entrees, we got the short ribs and seafood salmon... it was absolutely divine! We left room for the homemade rice pudding and the peanut butter tort and we're so happy we did! Linda's Love for cooking definitely shines through and shows up in every delicious detail and Susan is such a cool lady. It was a pleasure to have her as our waitress. This is a fabulous place for both lunch and dinner as I've been there many times. it's a bit of a hole in the wall but the ladies who run it and cook the food are absolutely amazing. I love their Thursday night pasta specials. I highly recommend all their freshly made pasta especially their stuffed raviolis OMG. Their salad salad dressing desserts and service are outstanding. Friends who live nearby Hampton Junction Deli really like this little place and took us there for breakfast last week. We're glad they did and wish we had time in the schedule to go back for dinner based on what saw going on in the kitchen. (We posted a photo of the dinner menu chalkboard to show the emphasis on Italian food and we have the reliable recommendation of our friends that the pasta, pizza and eggplant Parmesan are great,) The breakfast menu is narrow: eggs, potatoes, bacon, omelets and pancakes are roughly "it". But the cooking is good and comes from the heart. Hubby and I enjoyed perfectly cooked eggs and that's harder to achieve than you think. For the home fries that came with the breakfasts, we watched the cook's assistant (who also was our "no nonsense" server) cut up the potatoes before putting them on the cook top. Talk about fresh food! This is not a posh place for breakfast (the syrup served with my friend's pancakes was not real maple syrup, for example, the coffee was pretty much "Boyd's quality" and the rye bread for toast comes from a package). But it is place where pride of ownership shows and breakfast is good and inexpensive too. And given the tomatoes growing outside ("help yourself" the owner said) and the homemade pizza dough and Italian specialties being worked on that morning, we bet the dinners are very good. One important note regarding accessibility. I marked this wheelchair accessible as I post this review but the photo I posted shows stairs to the front door. The owner apparently has a relative who uses a wheelchair so they've made access possible through parking at the back of the building and a level in entry there. It would require a wheelchair user to enter through a kitchen clean up area and squeeze by some movable storage racks (Possible doesn't mean easy.) After an injury nearly three years ago that wheelchair user would have been me. I pay more attention these days since climbing more than a handful of stairs is still tough to do. So heads up to those with mobility limits to be clear about the limits of access here. Limited access seems to be the standard in the old infrastructure in this part of NJ and it is better here than in many places. read more

Walked into the Hampton junction with out a reservation and got seated to our surprise right away! Small menu, but with great options. All entrees come with a house salad accompanied by homemade dressings... the lime basil vinaigrette was delicious. Crusty warm bread also was served. The entres were a good size, short ribs were the best we ever had. The wasabi mashed potatoes had just the right amount of heat. We were so full from dinner, we didn't have a chance to try the deserts! Will definitely be back... a hidden gem ! read more

Don't let the outside appearance of this deli/restaurant fool you. Inside you will find delicious, freshly made pasta and other wonderful Italian dishes. The owner, Linda, makes a lot of the pastas from scratch. The ravioli is among the best I've ever eaten . They make a classic meatballs and spaghetti that's better than you'll find it in your Nonna's kitchen. Chicken meatballs are good, too. The menu changes every day depending on what's in the marketplace. Fish and seafood always cooked perfectly. Make sure that when you get your bread you ask for the special dipping sauce; it's a dollar extra but well worth it. Service is confused at times but they try hard. Bring some vino as its BYOB here. Came here on our hour drive back home from a picking farm and omg it did not disappoint. We didn't know the area so I googled food near me and this place came up. I thought oh it looks cute let's go. When we first got there we realized they weren't opening for another hour but then they found out we drove from far and told us to just come In. The waitress was so great. She was really attentive and so welcoming. They had so many good options on the menu that we ordered a lot cause we couldn't decide. Literally EVERYTHING we ate was so great. Corn chowder, fresh bread, mozzarella triangles, garlic knots, buratta and tomato platter, pasta. ALL soooo good. I will literally take the drive just to come here. This is by far one of the tastiest Italian restaurants I've been to. Everything is homemade, including the pasta they make right in the kitchen! For appetizers we had veggie spring rolls, mommy sticks, broccoli rabe, the meatless meat balls and garlic knots....and holy crap the garlic knots are to die for. You will never, and I gaurentee it, have better knots and if you don't agree, please tell me what heavenly place could top these off! All the apps were simply amazing and left us so full entrées were a challenge to eat, but with dishes this good, we all ate and ate...and ate. I had the eggplant parm which is perfection while others at my table had the salmon dish, rollatini, and chicken parm which everyone was beyond pleased with. Although this place is about a 40 minute drive from me, I will without a doubt be coming back for as long as these ladies are whipping up all the deliciousness! read more

It's a small place, and the Wait time for the food is a little long, but once you taste that flavor all the wait time melts away and you just forget about it. The appetizers... Are just... Heavenly. When you taste the warm fresh bread, and the lovely seafood it's just completely delicious. It's mostly the seafood that I find is delicious for appetizers. There's just one seafood (I forgot the name of it) but I tried it. I never tried it before. It was just so good with crab and this delicious crust. I tried the Eddie spaghetti for Dinner and it was so good. The pasta is homemade, and the sauce, it just melts on your tongue. The raviolis are stuffed with this beautiful cheese. Everything just it's so good. You can taste the love inside of it. If you want a fast food restaurant or something to go fast, it's not exactly that kind of place. It's a big sit down dinner place and it takes a couple hours. I've talk to my fellow critics and they said that the raviolis were miraculous. I I will come back anytime that I can. Service was awesome, everyone there looked happy to be there (had a very family run feel) food was amazing as well. Love it! Really good and authentic Italian food (approved by my Sicilian friend) A little bit on the pricier site but the portion is huge so it is worth it. They don't have a big menu but everything on the menu is good. If you get salad, definitely get the lime basil dressing. It's their family recipe and they won't sell it. So you know it's good. We have also got catering from here, the food and the servers are both amazing. They are usually busy on weekend nights. read more

I was super concerned when I walked in and saw I was being sat next to a fridge. putting that past me, I went ahead and ordered. everything i got was top notch. I saw the pasta being hand made in the back. only reason I am giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is 1. atmosphere 2. parking. However Hamption Junction gets the job done every time I go! Everything I've ever gotten from there has been incredible... The chicken parm is on point, the homemade raviolis are out of this world, and they have an amazing salad with granny smith apples and fried goat cheese that is out of the world. I can't recommend this place enough to anyone who is looking for great food... It's looks like a deli, and is labeled as a deli, but I PROMISE you it is SO MUCH more. Had a wonderful dinner today!!! This was our first time here and we will return! This hidden gem was very clean, the food was fresh and reflected the fact that the chef and owner cooks with top quality ingredients. She makes her own breads, sauces, salad dressings and her vegetables are very fresh! My husband had the Veal Parm. Which was made with Linda's wonderful sauce ( or should I say gravy). The pasta was freshly made in house and the veal was very tender. I had the Flounder stuff with yummy fresh crab over beautiful fresh spinach! We also had calamari which is freshly prepared and cooked upon ordering (and it included tentacles) with Linda's spicy sauce! Went there for the first time even though we have lived in the area for quite a while. Never heard about it until a friend recommended. Everything you would want in a cozy, informal relaxed dining experience. Homemade delicious food and totally unpretentious service. I had the broccoli rabe, sausage pasta that was awesome. Calamari and pot stickers were perfect. Actually took half of my entrée home since I was so full and it tasted even better the next day.
