    Breakfast time

Grabbed a good ol "Jersey Meat", egg, and cheese for my first stop ever at Cafe 57 in Washington, NJ. Met up with my friend Jen for lunch but I had breakfast heavy on my mind. Decided to add a hash brown (I always do if it's an option) and rounded it out with a Joe's tea (rare to see the diet ones so I was pumped about that). Came to $10 total. The sandwich was solid. The meat was sliced thin and there was a decent char to it. I think for the cost they could have tossed on a few more slices, but I'm not mad about it either. I'd like to try some other items here in the future, I've heard a lot of talk about some of their lunch sandwiches as well as their baked goods. Either way Cafe 57 - Didn't Suck!

Food Network's Sunny Anderson vouched for this place so I HAD to try it out. They're known in the area for their cheesesteaks and lately, for their chopped Italian hoagie. But they're also known for their awesome baked goods, more specifically, their cinnamon buns. That's what I woke up craving so to Cafe 57 I went. So many varieties of rolled up goodness to choose from. Nutella cheesecake buns. Apple buns. Run-of-the-mill cinnamon buns. But what caught my eye was the blueberry cheesecake crumb roll. There were blueberries so they HAD to be SLIGHTLY healthy, right? Craving satisfied! Boy, was it delicious! At first, I thought there was a lot going on but it was just so good! It teetered on the edge of undercooked in the center but I'm a lover of an undercooked cinnamon bun! I intentionally save the middle because I like that underdoneness. With all honesty, I really liked the bun but I hated the price. As good as it was, it wasn't worth the price. I have never, ever paid $8.50 for a cinnamon bun. Not even in the Upper East Side of Manhattan. With every bite, I kept thinking about how much it was. Sad, I know. The owner & his daughter were warm and friendly but unless I'm in my 2nd trimester and DYING for a cinnamon bun, I can't see myself going back anytime soon. These parts don't pay enough and for me to spend it on ONE baked good.

Went to go visit my friends over the weekend and our first stop was here again from Maryland. This time around, we ordered the classic cheesesteak and it didn't disappoint. The portions are huge so we were prepared this time. I split the sub with my husband at had some water to wash it down. Because we left around 3am, we missed out again on having their pastries! We're returning next month and I cannot wait to come visit again.

    Grilled cheese madness

First time here and the food is great! My family loves grilled cheese and this place has a triple layer grilled cheese! It's a superior sandwich in taste and price! Will definitely be back and highly recommend. Great place for kids or if you want a good sandwich, burger, quesadillas, etc.

Today @BigDudesBigFoods stopped for breakfast at @cafe57west Since we are also @thewednesdaywarriors we like support small business by drawing your attention to great spots that we find. Chef ‍ Anwar made us one of his masterpieces: A Double Jersey Breakfast Sandwich= 6 slices of Bacon 4 sausage patty 8 slices of pork roll 2 hash brown 2 slices of cheese 2 extra large fresh eggs On a 10" sub roll. It was a delicious meat sweats inducing colossal samich!!! Over the past few years I find us going here less and less often. The owner is no longer as friendly and often is gruff answering the phone for orders and just overall hard to read. The phone etiquette alone usually prevents us from even calling in an order. He has also expanded his cinnamon bun menu so much that they have lost quality and instead have only quantity and type as the impressive factor. The original was dry and the blueberry lemon was a soggy sponge. Disappointing that he broadened his horizons and forgot the basics of being approachable and putting out something of high quality. I hope to see them improve and make customer service a priority.

Spam, Taylor Ham and fried bologna with a hash brown on top of double egg and cheese!!!

They served American comfort foods such as sandwiches and salads with a few Latin dishes too. They also had gelato and baked goods available. The service was friendly, and the food came out in a timely manner. I had the Chicken Caesar wrap ($16.95), which was a special on the day I attended. This also came with a side of pasta salad or fries, and I opted for the orzo-based pasta salad. It was very good especially the balsamic vinaigrette that dressed it. The wrap was nicely done, filled to capacity, and served warm. The homemade croutons and the slight crunch from the wrap really made it worthwhile. I also tried the flavors of fall sandwich, which was another special. It contained grilled chicken, caramelized onions, pumpkin and cranberry chutney, goat cheese, and toasted pecans on ciabatta. The ciabatta was the highlight here as well as the onions. The chutney was a tad too sweet for me. I also had the blueberry cobbler cupcake and a slice of brown sugar pecan pie cheesecake. Both were very flavorful. The crumb on the cupcake was good and I liked that the actual cupcake had blueberries rather than just the frosting. The cheesecake slice was my preferred choice. I liked the crunch from the pecans and overall, it was not too "cheesecaky", which sometimes puts me off. Will I go back? Definitely.

I'm unsure where the pastries are from, but they all looked delicious & I loved the oatmeal cream pie. The cafe has multiple areas of seating for you to yearn, write, read, study, yap in. The pourover was amazing, and you could tell they took care to brew it properly. We also ordered an earl grey scone and cheddar bread with PB, honey, and banana, and both were delicious. As a bonus, the space is beautiful with plenty of seating, and a parrot that fascinated my toddler. We live about 90 minutes away, but as soon as we left, we started thinking of reasons to go back.

Finally stopped in this Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and heart packed into this small, eclectic shop. I ordered the butterfly tea, and it was perfection; light, fragrant, and just the right amount of sweetness. My husband had a coffee and gave it his full approval, which says a lot since we're used to bringing back premium coffee beans and chocolate from Cartagena, Colombia during his business trips. So yes, our taste buds are very spoiled. Our daughter was the only one who got her hands on the chocolate Bar we purchased, and let's just say... she devoured it within the day. Her exact words? "Best chocolate I've ever had." So yeah, that bar never stood a chance. While waiting for our drinks, we were treated to samples; mango lassi and lentil soup, both incredibly delicious and culturally authentic. The lentil soup, in particular, had me considering a second round, even though we had stopped in after brunch and I had no business eating more food. The vibe in the shop is a little visually chaotic (the decor doesn't follow a strong theme), but it adds a kind of quirky charm. There was even a setup for a live band, which is wild considering how petite the space is....but I'm here for the ambition! You can also see the chocolatier through a glass window, which added a fun behind-the-scenes feel to the experience. The woman handing out samples was warm and welcoming, and the young lady taking orders was all business, but still kind and efficient. All in all, Mazur is a charming little spot for anyone who truly appreciates high-quality chocolate, great drinks, and a few surprises along the way. We'll definitely be back.
