This place smells incredible. I got the raspberry Linzer cookies and the raspberry foldovers. Both had a great flake pastry, which means the dough was not overworked. I really appreciate this as so many bakery's over work their dough so that the end result looks perfect but tastes horrible and hard. This little Southampton bake shop ticks so many boxes. So not too long ago, I was freeloadin...er, staying with a friend nearby. One of the other houseguests went to Ye Olde Bake Shoppe every single morning, and bought at least one box full of pastries for everyone to enjoy for breakfast. Now, normal human beings would just be thankful that this nice dude was providing delicious, DELICIOUS pastries for everyone. A wonderful gesture, really. I just want to say, "Fuck you, man." I don't even LIKE pastries. But I have this condition (officially diagnosed) called fatboyitis, which renders me unable to resist any food that is sitting in front of my fat face. And that goes double for incredible apple turnovers, strawberry danishes, boston creme doughnuts, and especially the cinnamon buns. I quite literally gained five pounds while staying at this house. I weighed myself when I left, and weighed myself when I got back. Five pounds. Fuck you, man. But seriously, thanks. Those are some good pastries. read more

Bugs everywhere. I ended up buying the cookies (I threw them out half a block away) because I didn't want to make a scene in front of other customers and I don't want them to lose business. There were bees and flies all over the cookies. There were at least 15 bees just sitting on the cookies on the display. Give your employees an AC so they can close the door, and put a sliding door on the cookie display because they all knew there were bugs on them and they did nothing. They looked defeated. And I couldn't in good conscious bring the cookies to my family because if they're okay with bugs in the display, then who knows what happens in the back. read more

I'm not in Southampton very often, but on my way east, I try to stop here on the way in. Or on the way back! You have your choices of bakeries to stop at while in the Hamptons. Levain or Tates, etc. But this is THE place to stop. There are two items I think are amazing. They have a raspberry crumb cake that is to die for and last week I had the apple fritter that is simply amazing. They also have a cheese Danish that is delightful. The shop inside is super quaint and cute. The service is friendly and helpful. It's a litlte out of the way for me, but I'm telling you it's worth the trip. South of the highway on Windmill Lane and close to town if you're staying in Southampton - close enough to walk for sure. read more

The highlight to our 4th annual weekend trip to Southampton. They make their own donuts and great array of morning pastries and goodies! The lady ahead of me took the last 4 cherry turnovers, [ummm, remember when the person after you asks if you have any more of that item you just took the rest of the real reason he is asking is because he's hoping that you will let him have just one of the 4 you just took without really thinking about] (reminded me of my favorite hostess cherry pies, member? come on you member.) They looked good. I had a Boston cream (bustin with yummy cream [$1.50]), a plain donut (goes great with sweet coffee) and a very yummy looking cinnamon roll. I had the nice young man heat it up a tad in their microwave. He must have remembered to heat it up under low power, because it was warmed to almost perfection. Yes, yes I shared these delectable items with my beautiful wife, but still managed to have a sugar meltdown. I crashed from all the sugar over-load, even more coffee didn't help. I needed time and water. But, yes I think it was worth it. There is no place to sit, and the decor is plain, but you'll be thanking me later. Have fun! read more

We have visited this bake shop twice now as part of our February visits to Southampton....it's located in walking distance of all the Main Street shops and attractions and offers an old school charm. It's a small shop with everyone available on display in the glass displays. The selection seems to vary depending on when you go but it's always been fresh and delicious. We have tried cupcakes, cookies, brownies, and eclairs and enjoyed them all! They seem to always have lots of muffins and donuts for breakfast items. Definitely worth a visit if your sweet tooth strikes when in town! It is cash only so plan accordingly! read more

This place was really delicious, but I think I came on a little strong to the cashier subsequently freaking him out. Okay, let's call a spade a spade here, I came there with my friend and she was trolling for [item redacted], so I pulled her aside and recommend that she ask the cashier. If you're looking for treats from an authentic, old-school style bakery, the most secret, hidden place is De Olde Bake Shoppe on Windmill Lane. Although it's not as glamourous or popular as Tate's, it won't be crowded, you'll have a nice variety of sugary treats that you just can't find anywhere else. The bread is the most freshly baked loaf you will find in the Hamptons. Sadly though, their beverage options leave something to be desired. But if you're in the area, you must stop in, their cinnamon buns and cinnamon coookies are my absolute favorite! read more

Ye Olde Bake Shoppe is a MUST go-to if you are in the Hamptons for the weekend (and even if your not, trust me, it's worth the drive). As soon as you walk in, the aroma of the freshly made pastries and cakes completely fills the room. Their homemade coffee crumb cake was to die for. I have never ate one that was oh so decadent. As soon as you take a bite, you can taste the mixture of cinnamon, vanilla, and dark brown sugar just melt in your mouth. Another recommendation would be to try their homemade cinnamon rolls. The second I took a bite, I could tell they were taken out of the oven only a few minutes before; as they were warm and gooey with cinnamon, butter, and vanilla glaze. Ye Olde Bake Shoppe was quite a surprise. I was expecting overpriced, mediocre sweets in a town all about hiking up costs. So, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and, a) it was deserted (literally no one inside except the employees) and b) I saw HUGE linzer cookies, one of my favs. I bought all my friends a cookie each and shockingly enough, the total came out to less than $10.00. I was expecting some ridiculous cost, but that wasn't the case. The cookie was great-nice and powdery on the outside, soft and doughy on the inside. And the raspberry jam-YUM! One thing I don't like is when linzer cookies are made with anything but raspberry; I mean, it's the best one to use. They were baked almost perfectly. My one thing is that the decor is pretty plain, but I guess that's the point right? The staff was pretty accommodating, and it's unfortunate they are outside of town because they definitely deserve more attention. read more

This place is incredible! Everything I have ever eaten was excellent. Every week I get my bread, and recently I tired the cornbread and it blew my mind. Now I am extremely torn every time I get bread. The whole wheat is the best ever, the ryes are the best around and the corn bread the aren't words. I always get my Christmas cookies here as they are surpassed my none. It a little tricky to catch them open, but if your learn the schedule the reward is worth it. read more

The bakery offers standard fare and the prices are fair, which is not always a given in Southampton. Unfortunately Ye Olde is run the same way it was in Ye Olden times. For example, the bakery is not open on Sundays! Even in the high season. Most SH businesses make the bulk of their annual profits in the summertime, but this bakery is only open 4 out of 7 days of the week-- year-round. What's more, the inventory is poorly managed. So the best stuff goes fast and when it runs out, that's it. So the merchandise can often look picked-over at midday. There are 4 popular exercise destinations within a block of Ye Olde, but the bakery has made no effort to capture this foot traffic. You see all those potential customers walking past Ye Olde to Golden Pear, which is further away but offers a better beverage selection as well as seating. Oh, and Ye Olde has no prices on display, so you never know what the total will be till they ring you up. And you better have enough cash, because they don't take credit cards. read more
