I am posting this Yelp review as a rebuttal and to expand on the experience Jason P. had on 11/06/2019 as I cannot comment directly on reviews. I was there that day at about 11:30 and felt somewhat responsible for the experience he had at a Yats location that has honestly been one of the best I've eaten at. He posted a picture of a large group of ladies in line in front of him and I am just out of view to the right at a table, waiting for my order.
I placed a large takeout order (about 7 orders) for my work with a bunch of extra bread orders (about 14 - the bread is fantastic here!) and took my seat. The 'delivery guy' is a manager (M) of some sort who is very pleasant and helpful every time I've gone in. M was currently in the process of fulfilling a last-minute catering order when the large group came in. M informed them he'd be right with them and that they happened to be short staffed that day, leaving just him and a young man (Y) in the back to fulfill orders. While prepping the catering order, M was also on the phone attempting to get any staff to come in, and his level of cool in that stressful situation was admirable.
All the while, I am watching this from my table and in walks Jason P. and a companion of his, who both just happened to miss the announcement of the current difficulties. At this point, M was just leaving to deliver the catering order and calmly spoke with Y letting him know someone was coming in and he'd be right back.
I made eye contact with Jason a few times as I could see him visibly getting more agitated and curious about the delay. I debated letting him know the situation since Y was wrapped up in the back finishing my order, and I felt somewhat responsible for placing this huge order, but decided not to get involved. I regret that now. Jason ended up walking out after about 8 minutes of waiting, and the large group soon after. The kicker, not even one minute later, the replacement employee came in and started serving others in line. A total of about 9 minutes went by.
The Muncie Yats location is one of the best YATS I've been to. Their people are fantastic and it is clear that they are building a fantastic team. I am spacing on his name now but Y is great; anytime I've asked for a sample, he hand crafts it to be the best bite of flavor I could get from the batch. M handled a stressful situation with great ease and the only fault really was Y not coming out to give the disclaimer about the delay but he was doing his best to fulfill my large order in a timely manner. The bread at this location is better than other Yats because they make sure to butter the entire piece. They've always been quick to fulfill other large orders I have made as well. Overall, the building is clean, the staff are friendly, and the food is fast and delicious.
Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Yats and I spoke with another manager about this situation before to make sure a post like this would be ok. They in no way directed the content of this review. I personally have nothing against Jason, I just wanted to give the full picture on a specific instance for a fantastic Yats location.
