Tenderloin sandwich with country green beans
    Hope P.

What to do on a rainy day? Wander Indiana on a road trip is often our answer. Decided to drive an hour north to Fairmount to see the James Dean Museum and needed lunch along the way. Very happy we chose to go to Hoosier Routes in Summitville. Ciara was a very friendly server, making suggestions from the menu and showing me dishes as they came out. We ordered the tenderloin sandwich (lightly breaded, moist and flavorful) with country green beans and the hand-breaded chicken tenders. Food was very good. Try them out.

Not a beautiful pic--we were hungry and couldn't wait! The atmosphere, food and service is phenomenal! You have got to try this place!!

Food, atmosphere and service are fantastic! Onion petals, and everything else is tenderloin based---fantastic! You have got to make the trip to Summitville and check out Hoosier Routes!

Hoosier Routes Bowl - taters, chicken, gravy (brown or white), & cheese. Comes with soup or salad and green beans.

Food is always excellent. The soups and dressings are homemade and rich in flavor. The entire team treats you like a hometown neighbor even if you are from out of town. Casual clean atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Decor tribute to local history with the photos on the wall. 9 times out of 10 the owners will stop by your table to check in and make sure all is well. Check it out!

Short ribs, mashed potatoes, old fashioned green beans and side salad.

Ive been here twice, and after each time, all i can think about is when I'll be going back. The restaurant has original brick walls, vintage pictures of the town and is wRm and inviting. Excellent service, and the owners come to each table to make sure everything is ok. The food is outstanding. I had short ribs that were falling apart tender, mashed potatoes and well-seasoned green beans. Also side salad that was very crisp and fresh. If you are in the mood for a small town with wonderful food, do t hesitate to make the trip.

Very cute restaurant, great food and friendly staff! This was our first time trying this restaurant. I had the tenderloin Manhattan w/ country green beans. So good! The tenderloin was very tender, seasoned well and the breading was done well. Gravy had great flavor. The green beans were seasoned with onion and bacon, had a slight sweetness. My husband had the salmon patties with mashed potatoes and potato soup! He loved the soup said it was very creamy and had great flavor! He said the Salmon patties were good as well. Our waitress Tiffany was very kind, answered my questions and gave an honest opinion when asked about menu items. Staff seemed to care about our experience and wanted to make sure we were being taken care of. They did a great job being helpful without hovering! All of us enjoyed our food! We will definitely be back.

Great food and service. Stopped in for lunch and had a breaded tenderloin and it was delicious. Prices were fair as well. Nice place to stop in and have a bite

Wow, a great newer spot in Madison County! I actually stumbled across Hoosier Routes on Google Maps looking for a place to eat in the area. The original place we were going to go was closed (as so many places are on Mondays-Wednesday), but Hoosier Routes is open all week! It was a pleasant find and I'm glad we found them. It is located in a renovated historic downtown building. A nice remodeling job on the inside and out. Locally owned by a husband/wife team. It's a small restaurant with a covered outdoor seating area and a classic menu featuring steaks, sandwiches, salads, and entrees. You won't leave hungry - the portions are huge and come with plenty of sides. They have daily specials and desserts as well. I really liked the exposed brick walls and clean interior. The onion petals for dessert are so good. I'm not sure what the dipping sauce is, but it was so good we asked for extra. They also serve Triple XXX Root Beer. Affordable prices and friendly service. The owners were serving as well and out and about talking with customers, and the waitresses were all friendly.

Grilled tenderloin and mushrooms. Highly recommend them as a side

Small local restaurant with a great ambience. Limited seating for indoors. Outdoor seating available when weather permits. Saturday night around 6 and we had to wait for a table. Not long. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Our party of 4 shared the onion petals Appetizer , the dipping sauce was fantastic and different from most traditional onion petal sauces. Food came quickly. I was surprised that each meal can with 2 side plus an additional soup or salad and bread. Servings were good size and quality/taste were great. Meals ordered: salmon, chicken sandwich, tenderloin, and fish. Highly suggest the roasted mushrooms as a side. The manager, assistant manager, and waitress all checked on us throughout our meal. Drinks were refilled promptly. I have no complaints or room for improvement, 5 stars.

Friday night; service has been great. I have ordered the Tomahawk and shared it with a friend, it's worth trying! The burgers are made to order. The restrooms are clean and include refreshing mouth rinse. There is a free parking lot available next to the restaurant. Cons/ tables are too close together and it makes it difficult for servers to get around and it is hard to have conversations at your table. I look forward to visiting again when I am in Anderson.

As a result I tried a Bullet bourbon, special barrel, that was very nice. My husband had the Bloody Mary My husband had his heart fixed on a 42 ounce pork chop. I agreed to share. Two sides and a wedge. The wedge was like a head of lettuce with blue cheese, bacon and tomato quarters. Very fresh and nice Our waiter warned us that a party of 36 was upstairs and wanted to take our dinner right away. We wanted to enjoy our drinks first. He tried to work it out but I have to admit we felt rushed Next was our pork. To me it was a plate of lard. It was pork back and a small pork chop. The pork back was all fat and about 1/3 of the chop was fat I could not eat it and my husband said it was good. (I think to save face because he had longed for a big pork chop.) The sides were sweet potato casserole and broccoli rabe. Sweet potato was to sweet to enjoy and broccoli was swimming in garlic butter Neither was good When the waiter asked how we enjoyed our meal, I asked if always that fat. He apologized and said I am afraid so. I told him how much I disliked it but my husband ate some of it and thought it was good My husband said to bring a desert menu since I ate so little. The waiter suggested the carrot cake and then asked if we wanted to go. We said no and wanted coffee to enjoy with it He brought lovely fresh press coffee. Poured it and then started clearing our table. I asked if he was hurrying us and said just trying to stay ahead of the crowd $200 check our expectations we're not met but we feel there are better meats on the menu and will try again. For this trip, our expectations were not met

Massive shrimp! The beef Wellington bites, absolutely next level!! So glad we ordered those- they were the best! The tomato bisque soup came with a little grilled cheese sandwich - such a great touch! It was also one of the best tomato bisque soups we've had. Nailed it! The french onion soup was unlike anything we've ever had before, and incredible! The croissant toast with the cheese was such a treat! We were in town for a babyshower and wanted to grab a quick lunch- or a couple apps, and a glass of wine before as the shower was more snacks. The suggestions for us were wonderful. The lobster roll was soggy and honestly? Too much. I prefer a classic lobster roll - warm, lobster, bread that still has a little crunch to it (just the tiniest bit), butter - but not too much. This was soggy and the celery situation took away from the essence of a lobster roll for me. I've never liked the lobster salad rolls, and I did make sure there would be no mayo - but I think this was a bit much. Too much butter. Too many toppings. The flavor wasn't amazing. My dad really liked the perch. So much that he didn't let me try it. Lol but it looked good! The fried okra was solid. Kinda hard to mess that up, so no complaints there. Same thing with the fish tacos as the lobster roll. They're very busy. I like tasting my food - not piling the toppings on so things get lost. So, I scraped pretty much everything off. The fish was good! I got my mom the fried oysters. No complaints. Her meal came with two sides, so I got greens and Mac and cheese. I didnt try the Mac, but they said the greens were top tier. They had a nice flavor, but they're spicy - so avoid them if you can't deal with a lot of spice - probably red pepper. They threw in a crab cake for free and I thought that was really sweet of them. I didn't like the way it looked on the inside, so I only nibbled at it. Definitely not what this Maryland girl is used to... the winner is still Commisson Row on crab cakes in Indy so far. Anyway! Cute little tucked away spot, small parking lot, but spacious inside. Quite a few tables and chairs and fresh seafood in the cases. I'd go again and try some different things based on other reviews.
