I've been trying to find a good bbq place in Indiana near Muncie for years after being spoiled by bbq down in Georgia. Grill't absolutely crushed it. Brisket was phenomenal. Baked beans were perfect. The sweet bbq sauce was delicious and different in a good way. The only hangup I really had was the seating. There's 2 long tables, and only a handful of short ones. I felt bad taking up a long table for just my wife and I, but that's a pretty minor detail. The guy behind the counter was patient with us stumbling through our order. The owner, Doug, began restoring the historic building in 2019. Now he is working to add dining space upstairs for another 15 tables to help accommodate the demand. I was steered to the restaurant by a fellow Yelper from Virginia. I did not hesitate to make the 90 mile round trip drive for lunch. The dining room is small with a couple cloth covered tables and a bar seating. Soft country music fills the room and a gorilla hangs from the ceiling. The tenderloin is incredibly tender, fresh, juicy and hot with a perfectly seasoned breading. I ordered the regular size tenderloin, Doug also serves a larger version that is about a pound of meat. And don't skip the fries - hand cut and crisp. The fries are 5 star too. The service is impeccable, the kind of small town service that makes you feel special. We loved hearing Doug's story. There is street parking on the side of the building. They do a robust carry-out business, as well. They are not currently serving alcohol. They are not opened mid week for lunch- check the hours.
