Luxury Motor Cars - Owner Richard gaslights me and ghosts me as his solution. Typical unaccountability and dissembling

Before making the trip, I called because I live over an hour away. I specifically asked if the advertised price was accurate and explained that I already had financing through my own bank. I was assured that the advertised price was correct and that using my own financing would not be a problem. When I arrived, I was assigned to a salesperson named Richard. Unfortunately, he came across with a negative attitude and seemed more bothered than interested in selling the vehicle. After a short test drive, he informed me that the price had suddenly increased by nearly $8,000. When I reminded him about our phone conversation and the distance I had traveled, he casually said, "You know how it is--we have to get you in." That was incredibly disappointing. It felt like the advertised price was simply bait to get customers through the door. From there, the focus shifted to pressuring me into financing through the dealership so they could justify the higher price. I declined because my bank had already approved me for a great interest rate, and my insurance costs were already a significant factor. To make matters worse, Richard actually suggested that I insure the newly financed $45,000 vehicle with full coverage just long enough to leave the dealership, then switch it to liability afterward. Aside from being poor advice, that could leave someone without proper coverage and potentially violate the terms of their loan. Overall, this was one of the worst car-buying experiences I've had. If you're considering this dealership, I strongly recommend confirming everything in writing before making the trip--or better yet, shop elsewhere

He claimed the car could be made "certifiable" for $5,000. It wasn't my first time buying a car, so I walked out right away. We stopped by Route 22 Honda without an appointment and were greeted by Juan David. We asked if they had any 2023 CPO CR-V EX-Ls available. He let us know they only had one on the lot and offered to show it to us. Unfortunately, we didn't like the color combination. He then checked their database and other lots for inventory that matched our preferences. Juan brought over a senior sales manager, Gio, who confirmed they didn't have the year and spec we were looking for anywhere in their system. He suggested considering a new CR-V instead. While we weren't planning to buy new, we appreciated the suggestion and were open to the conversation. What stood out was that neither Gio nor Juan pressured us or tried to push a sale. They were transparent about the out-the-door pricing and gave us a clear breakdown of the costs; no games or endless "let me check with my manager" delays. In the end, we purchased a brand-new 2026 CR-V from them. The price was fair, but more importantly, we were well taken care of. One thing I didn't like, though it's more about the dealership than Juan or Gio, is that they charge a fee for using a credit card. Covering credit card processing fees is part of running a business, and they shouldn't be passing that cost on to customers
