I just want to start by stating that I didn't go inside the mall/flea market. The building is older as it's been around for awhile. It has a huge parking area outside. I stopped only for the HUMONGOUS mascot on the outside. Is it a crow? A magpie? A duck? Who knows but it's a 30 foot high and 60 foot long statue that I found rather amusing. This place is very large. Some of the vendors spaces looked like total junk piles, completely unorganized & not even worth looking at, being you couldn't walk through the space at all. Many weren't open. Others had excellent presentation. There was plenty to see, a little bit of everything. Overall it was fine, not overly impressive. Didn't make a single purchase. It was a Sunday, possibly why it was dead. If you go, maybe another day of the week would be better. Personally no desire to go back. read more

It's pretty dingy. Interactions with sellers are generally awkward and it feels a bit like a ghost town but if you're the sort of person who likes this sort of thing, this is the sort of thing that you'll like. There are some good deals and my husband pointed out that most of the antique store owners in Centralia likely buy stuff here and just mark it up. It's definitely a dive, though. I would be a little concerned about bedbugs and the like if I bought certain items here. Side note: This is deep in Trump territory so they have crap like gun shows and meet-and-greets with bizarre far-right candidates. I found the over-the-top aspects kind of entertaining but suspect we would not have been treated quite as warmly had we not been a white straight couple. read more

You gotta be in the mood to be chatty when you visit here, at least that's how I felt... Like everyone was looking at me, waiting for me to buy something, that rare customer strolling through. Ugh. Not how I like to shop. Yes, strong possibility that I'm paranoid, but am I the only one? Maybe it's more accurate to say that everyone was very friendly and invited me in. Are you strong enough to withstand the guilt of not buying anything? Cuz I know I'm not. Consequently,I rushed through. My favorite 'booth' was the Community Thrift Store- no pressure there. Unfortunately the prices were a bit steep but they had so much to see and so well organized.... And lotsa books. This place is bonkers! We've seen the signs when driving through Chehalis, but I never realized that Yard Birds was an insane super-swap-meet and grocery outlet store. But really, that doesn't even begin to do it justice -- you just have to go and see it. It's a huge open space inside and seems like it was once a shopping mall or big-box store or something. The main floor is divided by wooden corrals into seller stalls, which may or may not be open on any given day. We stopped in on Memorial Day and 90% of the stalls were closed, but you may have better results on a weekend day. It's incredibly frustrating to see awesome stuff inside the closed stalls and know that there's no way to get to it, especially since almost none of the sellers leave signs with contact info (or seem to have an online presence). So prepare to have your heart broken by tantalizing glimpses of closed-off areas! Most of the stalls are just random piles of stuff 'n' junk, although some are more nicely displayed and look more like an antique mall stall. The large bookstore/trinket shop called Community Thrift, right as you come in, is more organized and has tons of books for amazingly cheap prices, especially if you like upcycling old books and magazines for craft projects. There were more permanent stores against the outer walls and on the second floor, as well as a smallish open arcade on the main floor. The attached grocery store is kind of depressing and more like a grocery outlet, but there did seem to be one or two food places within Yard Birds, if you're into that. Because so many of the stalls were closed, we didn't get to go into many of the little shops, so we didn't find anything here to buy, but you'd probably have better luck on a Saturday or Sunday. It's worth a visit if you're in Chehalis, anyway, because what else are you gonna do there? read more

I am not a frequent Yardbirds denizen, but I know it's not "mainly empty", at least on the main level. It's packed! The theatre area has been been taken over by Shankz, a black light mini-golf course and arcade. There is a second arcade in the mall proper with 20+ games and 3 pinball tables between them. There are lots of vendors: books, videos, games, electronics, gifts, and housewares. There are a few kiosks of "all of the above, with no organization" that I avoid. Prices and vendors are reasonable, on the whole. read more

The people who work here are super friendly and helpful. The store and restroom are both clean and well maintained. It's great to go to a "swap meet" indoors, especially when it's cold and rainy! This is a sad little flea market/swap meet/antique mall. It feels like there's potential here for some cool shops, but it's basically the same stuff you'd find at a garage sale and the prices are nothing special. I usually go on Saturdays and the place is deserted so I can only image what it's like on less busy times. The neatest thing by far is the giant bird out front... read more

Yikes. This place is a disaster. Many various stores inside of the building and most of them are filled with junk or severely disorganized. If you have a specific store you're interested in, I guess you hope they are open. Many of them were closed upon my visit. read more

I discovered this market for the first time last week. The vendors were delightful and there is an amazing piano booth where the owner blessed us with his talent. He even took requests. This was the most delightful part of my day. At another booth I found a vintage Jessica Mc Clintock dress for $30.00. I was thrilled. All in all a good day...I shall definately be back to support this mall while they try to recover their business after the wake of the China Virus. Highly recommended. Gail read more

If you have a specific item you're looking for and don't care if it's used, there's a decent chance you can find it here. They do have some nice furniture and decor items. However, I have a hard time walking around looking for anything. Many of the booths are full of dirty, old junk and most of them have very limited hours, so if you see what you want, the odds are you'll have to come back later when that particular booth is open. I always feel like I need a shower if I get dragged into wandering around in here. read more

Yard Birds is pretty awesome. They've got a lot of things. There's a video game store which sells retro games (SNES, N64, Xbox, GBA... I think you get my point) and more modern things like PSP games. That's my favorite store. There's Shankz which is a black-lit mini golf place where you can play Minigolf. Their halloween Golf which is a seasonal thing is fun but simultaneously scary, but still fairly family friendly. The creepiest thing I remember is a guy who we thought was a mannequin who randomly screamed as soon as we turned away from it. It was fun. Attached is also Shop N Kart which is a grocery store. Recently one of their bakers in the bakery was found to have Hepatitus... so I probably will never buy things from their bakery... but their normal food selection and pricing is pretty good. Overall, a very fun and family oriented place to go. One of the best things to do in Chehalis. read more

I found out about this place about two years ago and all I could say was WOW... after having surgery I dreaded having to spend a fortune on new cloths that fit.. But for under $50.00 I was able to find everything I needed, pants, shirts, dresses and even a new coat. I do have to advise you though... if your a yardsale addict this place could become a habit... it like going to 15 or 20+ yard/garage sales in a single day only without all the driving (mileage). I like the place so much (yes you'll find there are some days better then others where the vendors are open, depending on the time of year), that I've decided to try selling my creative home crafts there. Week days are probably the best time to find the most vendors open but since I'm a new vendor just starting I am there on Fridays & Saturdays only, as the business grows so will the hours of operation. Most vendors are reasonable price with quality goods and there is a very affordable grocery store there too... haven't tried the food vendor understand from the other vendors that the food is good and very reasonable priced as well. I recommend that everyone stop by and check them out, its one of the best flea markets I have ever seen and indoors... There is something for everyone if your willing to spend the time roaming and looking there are all sorts of treasures to be found from antiques to new age. My roommate found an antique sewing machine (foot truddle, no electricity needed). First the place for camping gear is across the street and down the road a bit it is Sun Birds and secondly, this place is NOT mainly empty, there is a hair salon inside, kiosks with lots of things, the grocery store itself is amazing and reminds me of grocers years past. However this one has a huge section of natural foods, great sales and wonderful staff. You will bag your own groceries however! read more

Yard Birds is a nostalgic dream. Cluttered stuff of the past! I imagine if you look harder you will discover some unique gems, at the best price ever. Everything is cheap -- but that doesn't mean the stuff is. Go with 20 dollars and you probably only spend maybe half of it, unless you hit gold. There is a grocery store attached and also some cafe and i guess a shanks now?. The whole place is reminiscent of the garage sales in the 90s. Most of the vendors are nice people with personalities. I like going here because of the infinite possibilities of finding absolutely anything. The big bird is cool too! They have dvds, books, furniture, vintage books, clothing, vhs, vinyl records, shelves, jewelry, mirrors, video games of older generations, toys if its old its here. read more
