I can't say enough positive things about Yanni's. We visited this gem while staying at Kartrite, desperate to avoid the resort's ridiculously overpriced and frankly repulsive food. What a find. The menu had a great selection, everything from sandwiches to gyros, salads and classic sides. We visited twice tried a variety of sandwiches, green salad, and fries. Everything was well cooked, well seasoned and clearly made with care. They also had classic Greek desserts, including a phyllo‑dough pastry soaked in honey with custard and cinnamon (I'm blanking on the name, but it was absolutely delicious). The kids loved getting ice cream for dessert. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It's a pleasure when you are greeted by a staff who is genuinely happy to be there and interacting with guests. We ended up going back two more times during our short stay. I highly recommend this place to anyone local, and especially to anyone looking to escape the horrors of the Kartrite resort food. Had this delivered while upstate. Ordered a gyro platter. It comes with a ton of meat, 4 stuffed grape leaves (I forget the name for these in Greek), a delicious greek salad too! Wow! Another amazing place to eat in my old hometown. I wanted to try the Gyro as it had good yelp reviews and deservedly so. My wife grabbed some fruit blintzes while she was inside but we have a 3 1/2 hour drive home so they'll have to wait. The classic gyro was awesome. Everything fresh and there were cucumbers in the gyro. It came with some exceptionally good grape leaves that the kids would not try (yay, more for me). They then have the audacity to loudly argue with paying customers instead of making it right. And here is the craziest thing of all.... If you order more than $50 worth of food.... We were passing through town and stopped by this cute cozy spot along the way! We were seated immediately even as the place was getting packed on a Friday evening. The service was friendly and quick. We had complimentary pita bread with tzatziki sauce but it tasted watered down. There's a lot of options on the menu so felt more like a diner + Greek spot. There during a very busy time and they still made us feel like friends visiting their house. Warm and helpful employees and great food. Lots of vegetarian options. Portions are large so save room for homemade desserts. Our favorites were the tiramisu and the ekmek kataifi. We stopped here twice in two days it was that good. A perfect place to go to when traveling from WNY to Connecticut (or vice versa). Not too far off the Expressway, menu has good variety, food arrives quickly, and portions are generous. We tried quite the assortment - gyro, chicken souvlaki wrap, falafel platter pizza burger, and the cheeseburger and chicken fingers from the kids menu. I love that each entree came with your choice of two sides. There were so many good options to choose from. My favorites were the grape leaves, mac salad, fries, and orzo. I tried both the soup and salad and enjoyed the salad the most because of the toppings and freshness. My kids devoured their food and asked to go back. It's hard to pass the dessert case without getting anything, so when we went back, we tried the funnel cake (tasted just like the fair), baklava cheesecake (my mom and son's favorite), and Oreo pie (could have been more fudgy). Credit card - not happy with xtra charge but ok 3. $5.00 extra service charge for take out orders over $50. Is complete BS. Got some cheap plastic forks and some ketchup. Really? $5 extra for that. This is my family's regular "halfway" meet up spot between the Catskills and north NJ. We enjoy all of the food we have tried, especially the gyros. They also have good fries, stuffed grape leaves, moussaka, spanikopita, avgolemono and desserts. The blueberry blintz which is one of my favorites. The servers are always really nice. At this time they have both indoor and outdoor seating. You can also get takeout and sit at the picnic tables by the ice cream stand. The gyro was pretty good with a very tasty chicken and fresh pita. The cheesecake was strange despite sounding like the best thing ever. Baklava is usually served warmer or room temp and cold with the cheesecake made for a strange combined flavor. I ate them separately and they were much better.
