    Takeout order!
    Kathy Z.

My favorite spot in Manhattan Beach to pick up and go. This isn't a place to dine in, but they do a phenomenal job of efficiently packing orders. There's hand rolls, cut rolls, speciality rolls, nigiri, sashimi, appies and more. The garlic dumplings are one of my faves. There's truly something for everyone who enjoys Japanese food. Super easy to pull up, park, grab your food, and leave. Ordering via their website is easiest and you won't need to pay upon arrival. I don't think I've ever been quoted more than 20-30 minutes for an order, even during peak dinner hours. Such a reliable, delicious option for lunch or dinner.

Very slow Long lines with no employees to help out Poor customers service Can't even tell how long it will take to get the food ready.

Please BEWARE that they set the default tip to 20%!!! So ridiculous especially being a take out only place. I don't mind tipping for actual service BUT to be sneaky and set this as the default %. What are you doing extra that you think customers should pay for this service amount?! Absurd.

I finally had the chance to stop by this location since it's pretty close to my work and it's a casual, takeout only sushi place. I was very hungry so I ordered the 8 piece assorted nigiri set, and the tuna and salmon maki with added avocados. The 8 piece nigiri assortment comes with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and albacore. The salmon nigiri was good, but every other piece tasted pretty standard. I've had other casual, takeout sushi restaurants around the area and they have a wider variety of fish and are cheaper. The 8 piece special comes around $18.50 for 8 pieces of fish. The salmon and tuna rolls were also pretty standard, a little more on the expensive side as well, but they were stuffed generously with fish and avocado. Overall, I'd say my experience at Yanagi was pretty standard. It's moderately filling but expensive. It's good if you're in the area and want sushi, I found it to be ok.

Delicious salmon - I'm definitely going back to get takeouts. Salmon sushi special: salmon was melt-in-your-mouth good, and not fishy at all. One plate was filling and worth it compared to getting each item separately. Service and ambience: takeout only. Not much interaction. I tried calling to check if they were ready as it took a while for them to confirm my order (ordered through Yelp 10 mins before opening). No one picked up. But order was ready when the app said it would be. Prefer there to be less staples in the takeout bag. COVID precaution: masks and not allowed to enter.

It was prepared table side and was just incredible. Our server Kelly was amazing! Loved her great recommendations, and she constantly checked in with us. Her German/Ecuadorian heritage coincided with an upcoming World Cup match, so having her as our server was extremely fortuitous. The restaurant ambiance is simple yet welcoming along the main road. Parking was a little crowded but we found street parking not far away. I love how they have a waitlist and how food came out really quickly. They have their own special soy sauce recipe! We ordered some takeout food on the side and Kelly was on top of it all. Thanks to Kelly, the delicious food and fast service, this place is exceptional and gets high marks for me. I highly recommend checking out this place.

Hidden in plain sight, Kagura is a top tier Japanese dining experience. It should be noted that this place is more $$$ than it is $$, and that's a compliment. I dropped $50+ here and it was easy to say it was worth it. I treat myself to the Kagura Gozen chef especial that was limited on how many was served per day and a Orion Okinawa draft beer. Plus, I had leftovers. The chef special came with more-than-a-little of everything. Each dish was unique and delicious. I was treated to a full spread of amazing Japanese cuisine. Sashimi was fresh, katsu was thick and juicy with a lightly breaded crust, eel was flavorful and soft, and the soba noodles were perfect. The restaurant is clean and beautifully laid out. I got vibes of actually being in Japan. If you have a reservation, you can get a private booth. The attractive staff were fantastic. Friendly and fast. Water glass was always full and empty dishes were promptly removed. Last tid bits. Two clean solo bathrooms and street parking.

This time, I noticed this location offers special Gozen set meals that I hadn't seen before. They had a limited Dinner Gozen on the menu with only 10 sets available each night. Of course I had to order it. The set came with a little bit of everything: sushi, sashimi, katsu, eel rice, toro rice, ikura rice, soba, a variety of small cold side dishes, soup, and salad. It was a huge meal and I was honestly surprised I managed to finish the whole thing. I really enjoyed it because you get to try so many different items in one meal. If you're like me and love Japanese food, this is a great way to sample a little bit of everything without having to order a bunch of separate dishes. Everything tasted fresh and the quality was excellent. The restaurant itself isn't very big, so it can get pretty busy. They do take reservations though, which I'd recommend if you're planning to come during dinner. Overall, I really enjoyed this special Gozen meal and would definitely come back. It was a fun experience and a great value for the variety and quality of food you get.

With the USA getting a massive FIFA win, my New York Knicks finally taking home the NBA Finals Championship, and the Carolina Hurricanes defeating the Vegas Knights for the Stanley Cup, my friends and I needed a top-tier spot to celebrate. There was no question we were heading straight to Dash Dashi in Manhattan Beach. Located right near the pier on Manhattan Ave, Dash Dashi perfectly blends that laid-back South Bay coastal energy with incredibly refined sushi. We walked in buzzing from the games, and the staff matched our energy perfectly. The service here is always attentive and friendly. We kicked off the celebration with a round of their premium chilled sake and an order of their spicy garlic edamame. Do yourself a favor and do not skip the edamame--the hot spice blend is dangerously addictive and pairs perfectly with the sake. But let's talk about the main event.
