I can't believe this rating is this low! Where I put it, is it's a nice neighborhood spot. It's not as good as the top in Manhattan Beach, which are KatsuYa, SugarFish and Roku, but it's a good neighborhood spot, with reasonably priced lunch specials. It doesn't deserve the rating it has, it should be higher, and businesses like this who have been around for decades, deserve neighborhood support. Osho is the BEST sushi in the South Bay, hands-down. I always check their specials whiteboard posted above the sushi bar to see what daily catches they have ! The fish is always fresh. I love the cucumber calamari salad; it is light and refreshing. The spicy yellowtail handroll is the best one I have ever had. The fish is excellent and the taste speaks for itself, not covered in mayo like a lot of other local places... This is a family run restaurant and still has most of the same staff they've had for the passed 30 years. It is not the cheapest place in town, but it is priced fairly considering the quality is excellent and very fresh. I highly recommend. The soft shell crabbed is also something special ! read more

My taste buds were set in their ways the moment I woke up: "WE WANT A BENTO BOX LUNCH!" Heard it loud and clear. I kinda have go-to places already for this, but kinda wanted to try a new place, so thanks to our ever so dependable Yelp, the search was pretty easy. Had a bit of time for a work lunch break, and after a quick famish-causing errand, I found myself parking on their private lot in no time. EDAMAME: I felt I wanted a starter, to wake up the taste buds a bit. This was a good one. Good salt level, easy eats. But nothing to call home about. It was average at best, but a good starter nonetheless. MACKEREL SUSHI: A must have whenever I see it on the menu. It had that very familiar metallic, vinegarish fishy taste that I like. Almost served as a palate cleanser. Delish! LUNCH SPECIAL D: Comes with miso soup and salad. Salad was fresh and didn't drown in the dressing. Miso was pretty hearty and the flavor wasn't overpowering. I didn't learn the fish was teriyaki salmon until it was too late (for the record, not really a fan of teriyaki anything.) But I didn't wanna knock I until I try it. It really wasn't bad! Fish was grilled moist, flaky and tasty. If anything, I'd come back for this sans the sauce and sub with simple salt and pepper. The tempura batter was a little thick and bland for my taste. Dipping them in the tempura sauce didn't help as it was under seasoned as well. The soy sauce fixed that a bit, but they were average at best. The iced green tea was a refreshing way to wash it all down. FOOD: 3.5. SERVICE: 4. VALUE: 3.5. PARKING: Street parking and Private lot shared with a few businesses. Not an issue on a Friday lunch rush. OVERALL: 3.75. Now on my radar. It's now in the hat of bento box places I can choose from. We each ordered combination dinners which could have been shared between 2 people. Reasonable prices for the amount of food. Our dinners were about $20 each for the 3 items including soup and rice. The not so good...food was mediocre. Tempura batter was thick and soggy and beef a little tough. Chicken teriyaki was ok. Service was cordial. Not too many diners for a Saturday night. My family has been coming for years and I dine here once or twice a month at lunch and dinner. The udon was very salty and not very visually appealing; I think it could use some more color. I would have preferred to pay more for an "upgraded" udon with more toppings. The iced tea was very standard and since I don't usually order iced tea, I wasn't expecting it to be just average. It's a popular location in the community and many regulars were dining while we were there for our first time. Been going here for years back when bob owned it right through till now, no one does Sushi like oceans. They're 911's are delicious and Crunchyroll the best I've had anywhere. Do sushi a lot and a lot of different places locally and out of the area and I always come back to Osho's as my favorite. Staff is warm and welcoming and professional. They are helpful and explaining anything and customizing anything. Parking can be a bit of a booger but well worth it.. during the week it's a bit quieter and you can have a nice conversation with your sushi chefs! we have a lot of great memories there our family we continue to make more in fact we went last week and we'll go again this week. There's something there for everyone even if you don't like sushi their plates the teriyaki are delicious. The fish is always fresh. The portion sizes are generous and you never be that hungry. The car is clean and simple prices are on average with other sushi places, but I feel the quality the staff atmosphere are cut above. read more

It's hard to believe that it was my first time ever at O-Sho Sushi. I have seen this location many times and have heard about it from my co-workers but it was only recently I got to check out when I had lunch with a co-worker. They have great lunch combos that are just $11.25. I opted to get the Chicken Teriyaki with California rolls. The lunch special comes with a green salad, rice and your choice of entrees. Overall though the lunch special was a pretty good deal. The green salad was small but tasty. I found the chicken teriyaki to have sweet and tender meat. The California rolls were also small in size but overall good on flavor. I enjoyed my lunch here and do think for the price; it's well worth it. It's much more convenient to park here and it's easier to get a table and I know I'm always get something good, it's a place to bring the family and they even have a TV where you can watch the dodger game. They often do not answer their phone when they are open so do not count on placing a take out order by phone. O Sho has been my go to sushi bar for 40 years. Everything is always fresh and delicious. Especially love the 911 spicy tuna roll, the scallops sashimi from the blackboard menu, The Krispy Rice roll, (love that 911 sauce, but it doesn't love me so much), the seaweed salad, the garden salad, everything is good. They have great combination lunches and dinners, and the sushi chefs will make you whatever you want. I even saw Larry Bird at the sushi bar one night. read more

Came in here for a quick lunch and had the 2 items for $11 lunch special. I chose the spicy salmon roll and the tuna roll. At first glance at the lunch menu, I was surprised to see that there is no salmon roll listed anywhere. I also ordered a separate salmon hand roll which was not listed under the handrolls section in the menu. The server I had was really nice and said the chef can make it for me, for the same price. Now, onto the food. Food tasted pretty average. I did have to say I am not a big fan of the spicy salmon roll. There's something about the spicy salmon that tastes quite different from other spicy salmon rolls I have had before. The tuna roll was pretty straightforward. I did enjoy my salmon handroll though, which I kinda wish they have just a salmon roll option or something. The restaurant is pretty spacious and clean. This place did not quite blow me away, and given that we have other sushi options in the South Bay area, I am not sure if I'll come back here again. Let's see. read more

Man, we used to eat here sometimes twice a week back in the day, and although the lunch special doubled in price, it's still cheaper then a fast food combo. It's funny when i read that people are complaining of the prices here when you get so much for the money. Basically the original lunch special was a small green salad, a small cup of rice, tempura with the vegies of the day (usually, sweet potato or pumpkin, green bean, mushroom, sometimes round onion) which are pretty much the standard tempura vegies, chicken teri which isn't a tiny portion, it's pretty hefty, miso (soy bean soup), and i think it's about 12.75 i think. It's a bargain, and i think a dollar for a couple of pot stickers (possibly back in the day the two gyoza was included in the lunch special). They have another special now with steak and it adds two shrimp to the tempura for like 13.75 or something close to that. It's the typical japanese diner tasting teri steak, and it's great for the price. Sometimes you get the fat on the steak though, so chicken is i think the better deal, but either way, i've had fast food that cost more then this. And why i give this place 5 stars, ok sure you can find better japanese restaurants, the gohan (rice) could be better, but at these prices at least this place is authentic japanese, the tempura tastes like tempura, you get tempura sauce with it, the potstickers or gyoza i've had better, but it's only a dollar or something to add 2 pieces and you get the side of shoyu/vinegar (typical potsticker sauce in japanese restaurants). And to top it off, when i have a craving for a particular nigiri sushi, i just get a few pieces here, it's just quick and convenient, and guess what, it tastes fine. i haven't had a bad tasting nigiri sushi here and that's over 20 years of coming here. It's very old school run japanese dinerish sushi bar, i still love it. Guess the only thing i hate is the parking, which can suck so come early or come after the first wave is done. Oh and my picture doesn't do it justice, it's hard to see all the tempura you get, this plate i got had the two shrimp and vegetable tempura and just grilled chicken. Instead of teriyaki sauce on it, i got ponzu which is a soy/citrus sauce and normally like it with daikoroshi (grated daikon mixed with ponzu). The chicken is good that way, but unfortunately they dont do the grated daikon. So the sauce in the middle was just ponzu. You get a side green salad with it, and tempura sauce on the side to dip your tempura in. Once a travelling couple from france was eating there before their flight back and they didn't know what the tempura sauce was, and was thinking they needed to drink it like soup lol. My first time at o-sho sushi was with a hospitable brother. We opted for omakase since we sat at the bar top; the sushi chef did not disappoint. He was attentive, explained which cuts of fish we received, and did not rush us at all during the dinner service. There was a louder group of people doing sake bombs for a celebration, but the overall ambiance in the restaurant was zen.
