Everything had a great taste, I especially enjoyed the Unagi Nigiri. I had a great waiter, very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. The environment was nice as well, I felt very comfortable.

It was probably a bad idea to come here but Kita was close to my hotel and I didn't want to drive…read morefar for lunch after just arriving in town. They have several choices on the 3 pages of menus so it made it sort of difficult to pick my poison, so to speak. They bill themselves as modern Japanese. Not sure what that meant, but basically they play modern upbeat music and have a modern interior. They do have lunch specials during the week, but I didn't see many that were appealing as they're a combination of Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes. They also had poke bowls for lunch, but I'm not so sure about that. Their sushi rolls appeared to be made mostly with cream cheese, which I'm not a big fan of in rolls, so those were out as well. I ended up ordering off of the dinner menu. I chose the grilled lamb chops and a side of steamed rice. I totally missed the 3rd menu which featured the sushi and specialty rolls. The lamb chops were ok, they did have a slight grilled flavor, but also another weird flavor like they weren't that fresh. Maybe customers don't order lamb chops here, as much as maybe they would at a fancy American or Mediterranean restaurant. Either way, I still ate them because I was hungry. I prefer the frenched rib chops better than the loin chop which is served here....since its a much tastier cut. In addition, it's usually more expensive. Overall, I don't see myself ever returning here since I'm also not in the area that much. Service was adequate as our drinks were refilled a couple of times and the waiter made sure to stop by and check on us.

Standalone japanese style restaurant…read more No frills seating area. There is variety of seating availalble available Regular tables, booths high tops lining the glass full length windows. There was just one young man serving. He seemed a little tired and unhappy to be working. But he was polite. My colleague ordered chicken hibachi and I ordered teriyaki salmon bento. My salmon bento came with spring rolls, dumplings and salmon atop some pieces of vegetables. The salmon was cooked perfectly- cooked through yet not dry. The spring rolls were freshly fried- but the contents of it was mushy. Dumplings were eelicious delicious Good for a quick meal.

Service was prompt, although there were only 2 other tables seated there around 1pm. We were told to pick any table we wanted, then given the menu once we were seated. Menu pictures are included, I ordered a pink lemonade, hibachi lunch special with the strip steak ordered medium, clear soup, salad and a sushi roll of shrimp with cucumber. Important to note that the rolls that have a slash "/" mean you have to choose between the 2. The ginger dressing on the salad, on top of being quite pale compared to the normal color, was very sweet. I did enjoy it, but first impression wasn't the greatest. The clear soup, unfortunately, was the opposite. It looked delicious, but just tasted like warm water to me. When the waitress asked if I wanted yum yum sauce, I said yes and she brought over the squeeze bottle. Steak was cooked well, I'm thankful that I asked for medium, cause it came a little between medium rare and medium. Just the way I like it. Zucchini was cut quite thick, made it a little difficult to eat the less steamed bits, but the more steamed bits were fine. The rice was in the same situation as the soup. It looked delicious, but was pretty bland. The yum yum sauce helped. Overall, I'd go back if I was in town and hungry, it's certainly not bad. Ordered some to go dishes to try, chicken yakisoba and some fried rice on its own. The chicken was delicious, they really seem to have their meets down pat. The noodles were a little on the dry side, and salty. Rice was the same as in restaurant, kind of bland, need the yum yum sauce to mix into it.

Let me just tell the whole story so people understand how ridiculous this place is. I called to…read moremake a reservation for 3 people, and I asked for 8:30, because someone in our group had practice and that was the earliest she could get there. They tell me the latest they can do is 8:00... even though they don't close until 9. Make that make sense. So I explain the situation . she literally gets out at 8, we need a little time to get there. The girl on the phone acts like I'm asking for something impossible. She finally says, "Well... I guess we can do 8:15," but with the worst attitude. And when I paused for two seconds to check that time with everyone, she hits me with a long, rude "hellooooo?" Like girl, calm down!!! I'm trying to make YOUR schedule work. We show up for our 8:15 reservation, and the vibe immediately was that we weren't even wanted there. They looked at us like we showed up uninvited, even though we literally made a reservation. Then they tell us they only have two soups and ONE salad left... for three people. Everyone is supposed to get a soup and a salad, so how exactly were we supposed to "split that"? On top of that, they had no sushi rice and half the menu unavailable -- and not one apology. Just more attitude, like everything was somehow our fault. Then it took them 20 minutes to not even bring our drinks. They never showed up. We're just sitting there watching them walk around acting busy while ignoring us. At that point, we just got up and left because clearly they didn't care if we stayed or not. And the craziest part? They charge an 18% mandatory tip for this kind of rude service. Like... hello?? What exactly are we tipping for? The attitude? The missing food? The ignoring us? It's wild. This place is rude, unprofessional, unprepared, and honestly gives off "we don't want you here" energy. If you wanna pay to be treated like an inconvenience, go ahead. Otherwise, save yourself the headache and go anywhere else.
