I cannot rave more about this place. I bought my mother here for a celebration and the food was amazing. I was so happy everyone enjoyed their meals. Our server was so attentive and checked on us regularly. I love the train station feeling as you look around at the decorations. I would suggest that they upgrade the ladies room. It seems to be stuck in time.

This place was a good find for an overnight stay in Charleston. We started the meal with oysters Rockefeller, shrimp scampi, stuffed mushrooms and an onion soup. I only had the oysters and mushrooms because my kids devoured the shrimp. For dinner the I had the goat cheese salad and split the rack of lamb. Others at the table had steak and scallops. For sides we got the artichokes, mac n cheese, and green beans. The favorites at the table were the onion soup, rack of lamb and the artichokes. We also grad the banana's foster but I am not a fan of bananas so I took everyone's word that it was amazing. At the close of the meal we had a great view of fireworks!

OMG!!! This is one of the BEST restaurants in ALL of West Virginia and the entire SE United States!!

    Ambiance

I'm a foodie ok? I'm not ashamed. I'm extremely picky because once upon a time I was a chef. This restaurant is 5 star for a reason. From the reservation booking process all the way through to the dessert the food, ambiance, and service was top tier. We all ordered different appetizers and entrees and I tasted everything. There was not one dish I didn't like. The food was fresh, innovative and yet still classic. I'm so impressed that the owners, chefs, and waitstaff care so much about the quality of the food. It was worth every penny for the experience.

We held a 60th Anniversary surprise dinner at Laury's last night. The staff was very accommodating and very gracious to my parents and family. The food was delicious, timely and presented beautifully. We have never been to Laury's before, however we won't hesitant to return either. I'm from FL and travel a lot. Laury's is a beautiful and historic place with a knowledgeable and friendly staff surfing delicious food. My wife and I had different steak dishes while others had a variety including salmon, sea bass, lamb, chicken and seafood pasta. Pretty hard to go wrong in my opinion. @Charleston area diners, you definitely have a unique space and invested business to match. Make sure you share the love and make it your special "go to place" as well.

I travel to Charleston quite a bit for work and I typically always stay at the same hotel and eat at the same 2-3 restaurants. I've gotten bored of the routine so switched it up this time, and tried Laury's due to my boyfriend's recommendation (which was based on google and Yelp). I get nervous trying places like this because I show up with my backpack and computer to work on presentations for the next day, etc, and worry everyone will look at me and act like I don't belong. This is 100% not the case with Laury's. The bartender, Carrie, greeted me warmly when I walked in and even came by my table later to see how I liked everything. The hostess was incredibly friendly and sweet. My server, Monica, was great too! I had a few glasses of wine, both very good. I had the petite filet which was incredible and the table side bananas foster, though quite the production, was amazing! I'm absolutely coming back the next time I come here for work, and will bring friends. I was so impressed with the service and food. So glad I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried this. Thanks for an awesome experience!

The wait can be 20-30 minutes during prime dinner hours, and the food wait can also be lengthy. Plan on enjoying a few hours here and don't be in a rush once you get here. Let's talk about the food. They have gluten free options and anything can be made gluten free according to the staff. They also have some vegetarian options. I love burgers, and honestly, it's hard to beat a handmade beyond smashburger. This restaurant currently does not offer another veggie substitute other than the Portobello mushroom. It was good, with the added goat cheese, but would have rather had a burger substitute with mushrooms added on top. The fries are great! Perfectly fried with golden crunch in every bite. The garlic aioli is the perfect dipping sauce. I ordered a ranch side as well and it's good, but the aioli is the best choice in my opinion. Great local restaurant with a burger for everyone.

But Amy was very good with answering our questions and giving her opinions on various dishes, as well as her interactions with Oliver We started with some wings with house hot sauce and an order of cheddar and candied jalapeño fries. Both were very good, the candied jalapeños had a nice heat but were not rude. I had a Cubano sammich, as you know I am a sucker for these and once again - no plancha!! This one wasn't even squished in a George Foreman grill. Just served on a (good and tasty and crunchy) bread. Oliver had a cheeseburger and fries, and the table order was rounded out with a braised beef sandwich. That was declared by Amy as the number 1 sandwich at the place. Oh jeez I almost forgot - they've got several beers and Amy was again a font of knowledge asking us what kinds of beers we liked and helping craft suggestions based upon what we liked.

Everything we had was packed with flavor. The drinks didn't miss either--ice-cold beer and expertly crafted cocktails all around. I wanted to try something new and interesting and through my Yelp research I found this spot. It's located in downtown with metered street parking free Monday-Saturday nights after 6pm and all of Sunday. Luckily, we were able to find a spot easily. Inside was modern and relatively clean. We had to wait a little bit to be seated as they were pretty busy; however, this place had a decent amount of seating and space. Service was good overall, but it wasn't as consistent as I would've liked for actions such as water refills, asking for extra napkins, etc. This was partly because they were very busy that night. They have a variety of food options - apps, salads, sandwiches, pies (pizzas), and dessert. We ended up ordering a large pizza (thin crust) to split - half Thai and half Chicken Gouda. Both were yummy although the crust was a tad burnt - nothing bad to the extent that taking bites were an effort. Overall, I preferred the Thai since I've never come across a Thai style pizza and I could really taste the curry sauce. The only downside of the Thai was that the shrimp were slightly overcooked, which could be potentially explained by us ordering a pizza split in two styles with them cooking the entire pizza evenly versus what is needed for each ingredient. We finished the entire pizza between the two of us, but I could see someone having some leftovers. If possible, they might want to do some minor pest management. The entire time of our visit a fruit fly or gnat was hovering around us and the food. We tried to catch it and protect the food, only for it to ultimately take a permanent dip in my water. My overall assessment was that it was a good place to try in the city. It's not something I would crave, but I wouldn't mind coming back again if I was in the area.
