I cannot rave more about this place. I bought my mother here for a celebration and the food was amazing. I was so happy everyone enjoyed their meals. Our server was so attentive and checked on us regularly. I love the train station feeling as you look around at the decorations. I would suggest that they upgrade the ladies room. It seems to be stuck in time.

This place was a good find for an overnight stay in Charleston. We started the meal with oysters Rockefeller, shrimp scampi, stuffed mushrooms and an onion soup. I only had the oysters and mushrooms because my kids devoured the shrimp. For dinner the I had the goat cheese salad and split the rack of lamb. Others at the table had steak and scallops. For sides we got the artichokes, mac n cheese, and green beans. The favorites at the table were the onion soup, rack of lamb and the artichokes. We also grad the banana's foster but I am not a fan of bananas so I took everyone's word that it was amazing. At the close of the meal we had a great view of fireworks!

OMG!!! This is one of the BEST restaurants in ALL of West Virginia and the entire SE United States!!

    Ambiance

I'm a foodie ok? I'm not ashamed. I'm extremely picky because once upon a time I was a chef. This restaurant is 5 star for a reason. From the reservation booking process all the way through to the dessert the food, ambiance, and service was top tier. We all ordered different appetizers and entrees and I tasted everything. There was not one dish I didn't like. The food was fresh, innovative and yet still classic. I'm so impressed that the owners, chefs, and waitstaff care so much about the quality of the food. It was worth every penny for the experience.

We held a 60th Anniversary surprise dinner at Laury's last night. The staff was very accommodating and very gracious to my parents and family. The food was delicious, timely and presented beautifully. We have never been to Laury's before, however we won't hesitant to return either. I'm from FL and travel a lot. Laury's is a beautiful and historic place with a knowledgeable and friendly staff surfing delicious food. My wife and I had different steak dishes while others had a variety including salmon, sea bass, lamb, chicken and seafood pasta. Pretty hard to go wrong in my opinion. @Charleston area diners, you definitely have a unique space and invested business to match. Make sure you share the love and make it your special "go to place" as well.

I travel to Charleston quite a bit for work and I typically always stay at the same hotel and eat at the same 2-3 restaurants. I've gotten bored of the routine so switched it up this time, and tried Laury's due to my boyfriend's recommendation (which was based on google and Yelp). I get nervous trying places like this because I show up with my backpack and computer to work on presentations for the next day, etc, and worry everyone will look at me and act like I don't belong. This is 100% not the case with Laury's. The bartender, Carrie, greeted me warmly when I walked in and even came by my table later to see how I liked everything. The hostess was incredibly friendly and sweet. My server, Monica, was great too! I had a few glasses of wine, both very good. I had the petite filet which was incredible and the table side bananas foster, though quite the production, was amazing! I'm absolutely coming back the next time I come here for work, and will bring friends. I was so impressed with the service and food. So glad I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried this. Thanks for an awesome experience!

We were in visiting on a work trip and we were looking for some great food. First off, the venue space is nice. I really liked the atmosphere and vibe. Unfortunately, things kind of didn't start well and they just went downhill from there. We were looking at the higher dollar menu items like the seabass and scallops. They had a scallops special that caught our attention but the chef wouldn't budge on the menu sides. We were looking for something lower carb. What I wanted was the scallop dinner with the special miso sauce, but instead of the sweet potato hash, I wanted veggies. But the server said the chef said no. Based on that, we both ended up ordering a hamburger. It wasn't what we wanted but we felt it was the safest option based on the quality of the appetizer. You see, we had ordered some calamari and it was so bad we had to send it back. It was nothing but hard crunchy batter. There was very little calamari actually in the pieces. You couldn't even pierce it with your fork. It was horrible. Based on the quality and flavor of the calamari, we decided to not take the risk on sea bass or scallops. The burgers came out and they were ok. Nothing special. I've read through some of the other reviews about the complaints of how salty the food is, and I can confirm the food we had was way over salted. Now for the service. This was a really awkward and uncomfortable night. The server was trying but he honestly didn't fit the price point of the menu. Each interaction was more awkward than the next. The things he would say and the way he communicated, made us so confused and uncomfortable. He was a nice guy, he just probably isn't a good fit as a server. We've had good meals in Charleston before, tonight wasn't one of them. The martinis we had were good, but we walked out of there only spending $70, while we had a budget of $125 each to spend. This restaurant lost out on $180 worth of business all because they didn't want to budge on the scallops dish. Do the math, this wasn't a smart business decision.

I eat small portions so we share most meals, but this was enough for two full entrees! The sweet candied bacon & creamy chunky blue cheese dressing on the fresh crispy Wedge blended perfectly. I added slices of the NY Strip & I'd say it would be my absolute favorite salad ever, minus the grease from the steak. The NY Strip & mushrooms were cooked accordingly & full of flavor. Huge baked potato as well. However, it was all greasy. Dessert menu looked delicious & included Creme Brulee, but we were too full. We saved our appetite all day for this wonderful steak dinner, but afterwards & the next day, we were both sick to our stomach. If it was just my stomach that didn't agree, it would be different, but it was both of us. Either it was the blue cheese dressing, which tasted fine or the grease. After ordering we were each served a couole of pieces of fresh bread with a black and white sea salt. Bread and butter were very good. We had a fush of the day, a mild white fish served with new potatoes and green bwans. The fish was tender and light. I opted fir the french onion soup that was such a large crock og soup i had to take over half of it to go.
