Sandwiches were yummy as were the curley fries. The service was great and the prices made me feel like I stepped back in time. Sherry was such a sweet heart as well. She chatted with us and gave us some suggestions of places to check out in the area. Her best advice was to find the wild horses in the area. That was a highlight of our trip. So we walked a few businesses away and discovered The Broken Axle. We were quickly seated and provided menus and discovered, it IS his restaurant, he's AXLE! Hilarious. We met his mom and dad who are the owners. My group of five ordered various items. Tacos, a hamburger, sliders, a chicken wrap and the fried buffalo chicken mac wrap. Along with our mains we had various sides; chips, fries, onion rings and Tetris shaped tater tots. With the amount of variety I fully expected a delay in receiving our order. NOPE!! All the food arrived at the same time and everyone's meals were hot! We all agree that this was the favorite meal of our road trip. We found out later that they sponsor a yearly music concert with headline names!! WOW! This year is Joe Nichols. Fantastic.

After reading several food reviews of the Fire Pit, we decided to stop in for dinner on a Saturday…read morenight around 7pm. It was seat yourself and we chose a booth not far from the front counter. Our server immediately came over to our table with menus and took our drink orders. When she came back with the drinks, she took our meal order. We tried one of their 'famous' menu items called a pizza bowl, a pickle pizza, and 10 boneless buffalo wings. The pizza was my favorite. Saturday is 10% off any size speciality pizza. We had a small and crushed it. The crust was slightly crunchy, slightly chewy, and had seasoning on it. The cheese was ooeygooey and the pickles were crisp and tangy. The boneless wings were just average, but came with a plentiful side of ranch and bleu cheese. The pizza bowl was definitely unique. My boyfriend said it reminded him of a stuffed banana pepper in a bowl. I wish it came with chips or something, because it was more like a dip to me. Still tasty! The inside of the restaurant is decently large with tables and booths for seating and local sports memorabilia on the wall. Go Man Hillbillies!

We ate there this evening and everything was fantastic!!! At our table there were 3 sirloin dinners and a burger with fries. Not one single complaint from anyone. The waiter was friendly attentive without being annoying, the head chef was out checking on food at tables, and the GM was making sure things were running smoothly. I personally went and thanked her for a job well done. The staff appeared to work well together, which nowadays isn't that common. We will for sure return for future trips!!
