Delicious! The prices definitely reflect the quality. My salmon was delicious and fatty! For appetizers we got Shishito Pepper and the fried squid. I got a Salmon Double Double and my husband got a Caterpillar Rolll. I got a piece of halibut to try and it was also very tasty and fresh. Portions are small but the service is great, the food is fresh, and its easily accessible next to plenty of parking.

Not only are the sushi and other dishes fresh and delicious, the service is excellent. The beer tower and sake (they have a great selection) washes the sushi down very well!

Loved the Negi Toro with fresh wasabi. Had 4 of them. Hamachi (yellow tail) was good as well. I will be going back.

This is easily one of the best sushi spots in redondo beach! My boyfriend and I came for dinner once Friday night and immediately were greeted with the most friendly staff almost immediately from the moment we walked in the door! The ambiance was so cute while they were playing early 2000s music! The food its self is some of the most fresh fish I've tasted while being here! I highly recommend this place as a staple sushi spot here! I can't wait to go back already! (:

I really enjoy coming to this sushi restaurant. The owner/host is always so kind and attentive and happy to help. And it's just a nice place to get away to for lunch, with some yummy food. I like to try different items each time I come and I've enjoyed everything I've tried thus far. I went for dinner with my bf at around 8 pm, and we sat down pretty quickly as it was relatively empty. This is my second time here, and the service is always fast; the servers are nice and attentive. It's a nice, cozy spot with light music playing in the background. The owner (I think was the person who spoke to us) was so sweet and informative regarding the food and drinks. We got an albacore double-double roll, which was excellent and had a nice crunch on top. The star of the show was definitely the sushi burrito! My boyfriend finally convinced me to try, and it is a must-have. It's light and flavorful, definitely recommend. Overall, always a great experience when visiting & recommend if you're in the area !

Truly one of the best sushi dining experiences I've had -- everything from the food to the service was absolutely amazing. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcome and comfortable. The wait time wasn't bad at all, and we were seated quickly in a calm and cozy atmosphere that really set the tone for a great meal. The food? Incredible. Each plate was a piece of art , fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. As a vegan, I often feel limited when eating out, especially at sushi spots, but the veggie crunchy roll I had was delicious and satisfying. It didn't feel like a side option -- it felt like a thoughtfully crafted dish. I genuinely felt like I belonged, and that my dietary choices were respected and considered. That alone meant a lot to me. Now, what really made the night special was the service. Ava and Karen were our servers, and they were absolute gems. Both were so kind, attentive, and hardworking -- they made sure we were completely taken care of throughout the evening. They cleared our plates quickly, answered our questions with patience and a smile, and were always around when we needed something without ever hovering. I felt their genuine care. Their warmth and energy created such an enjoyable experience for me and my family, and it didn't go unnoticed. Cindy, the owner or manager, also came by to check on how everything was, and she was just the sweetest. You can tell she's built a team that cares as much as she does -- it really shows in every part of the experience. The quality here. from the food to the staff to the overall vibe, is outstanding, and the prices are more than fair for what you get. I'll definitely be coming back, and next time I'm bringing friends! If you're looking for a place with amazing sushi, heartwarming service, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the place. Can't wait to return!

I've been here a few times and each time, the sushi and the deals surprise me. They have awesome happy hour, lunch and sushi roll deals that keep the good times rolling. The service is amazing, speedy and kind. I always get what I order within 10- 15 minutes. The garlic edamame was a perfect balance of salty and savory! This is the perfect spot for a family outing or casual date. Highly recommend the pastries, too! We had their matcha cheesecake as pictured below and it was a wonderful and tasty surprise!

We were welcomed as soon as we opened the door. Great service and attentive staff. For happy hour the selections were great! Because of their happy hour we got to try a great variety of sushi. The spicy Salmon hand rolls are really great. Also the Baja role, red dragon role and super Philly role all great.... And of course the classic rainbow role- YUMMMMY. Love their location, too. This is a hidden gem! It's our spot. My favorites are eggplant appetizer (trust me), best baked mussels, baked salmon roll, eel supreme roll (bomb!), the sushi is all good and the bento box! Asaka is always my go-to in the Southbay for sushi! The service is phenomenal, and I'm always able to get a seat without a wait. They have great happy hours and 1/2 off rolls which is the best deal in town. The sushi rolls have great proportions with not too much rice, and they also have high end fish for the outside which I don't see too often. If you're looking for a delicious and good time out for a meal- I highly recommend Asaka sushi! read more

Are you a lover of sushi but have tried to cut back on how many carbs you eat? Do you find yourself asking the sushi restaurants if they can hold the rice in their rolls and substitute with soy paper? Do you see restaurants often use way too much mayo or sauce, and you'd rather have the option of the sauce on the side? If you said yes to any of these questions, then Asaka sushi is the answer for you. We were hiking through the beautiful Palos Verdes area and felt that we deserved our dinner after all our steps. After searching for all the available restaurants in the area, which didn't have a lot, we stumbled across Asaka. But even without the competition, Asaka demonstrates what it means to eat healthy sushi. You can see from our pictures that we ordered almost everything off of the no rice roll section of their menu. That's right! No more having to awkwardly ask if they can hold the rice. There's a whole section of the menu for folks like us! Notice the sauces on the side? Perfect for dipping or consuming in moderate quantities. And ifykyk, but if you don't, that pink color is high quality soy paper - don't be surprised! And if you're not like us, and love options, their menu is "almost" as big as Cheesecake Factory - tempura, grilled, hot and cold appetizers, salads, on top of the sashimi, sushi, and fusion sections. Stop by - you'll find something for what you're looking for. We also had a husky with us and he was well taken care of too. Definitely dog friendly. read more

This restaurant is so great from the ambiance to the food! The black truffle salmon, although expensive, is a must try. Everything on their menu is so fresh and delicious you just want to go back for more! And the manager and all the servers are very friendly as well which is a great bonus. We stoped in for some lunch on a Thursday. It was very easy to get a table. The waitress was lovely, so sweet. The food was excellent!! The fish was very fresh! We loved the fresh albacore that she recommended to us. They get their albacore fresh here. It's not frozen like at other places. And at the end of the meal she gave us a delicious slice of green tea cheese cake. It was delightful! Overall everything was a win for us. We will definitely be coming back! read more

One of the many good sushi spots in South Bay! They have a massive menu beyond sushi so there's something for everybody. The special rolls were good and had such nice plating. Tonight, my boyfriend and I were craving sushi. Since I recently moved to Redondo Beach from Culver City, we haven't yet found our go-to sushi spot. After checking Yelp, we decided to try Asaka Sushi. As soon as we walked in, we knew this place was special. The atmosphere was lively with a large group celebrating a birthday, complete with kids dancing to the Happy Birthday song. We were seated immediately, and our server greeted us right away. We ordered the family boat, cheese wontons, and spicy edamame. Let me tell you, my biggest pet peeve is when restaurants serve hot food cold, but everything here was perfect. The family boat was just the right amount of food. It started with delicious miso soup and salad. When the boat arrived, I was amazed at the amount of food--it seemed a lot for someone who's 5'2", but my 6'2" boyfriend and I managed to enjoy it all. I'd definitely go back and order it again. I'm disappointed to have to leave this review but after my last two experiences (or lack thereof) compelled me to do so. Our first experience at Asaka was wonderful, but I will not be giving them another chance. We tried to join to celebrate a birthday with family that lives in the South Bay. We made a reservation for 14 guests and they called the night before to cancel. While finding a different accommodation for that many people on such short notice was annoying, we brushed it off. We would try again next time we were in the area. Fast forward to last night (Valentine's Day) my husband made a reservation for a date night. We arrived 30 minutes early for our 7:30 pm reservation, but the restaurant was fairly empty. So we went ahead and asked the host if we could be seated. Our server came by as we were seated, and we asked for a couple of waters while browsing the menu. We decided on our sake and food selections, then waited for our server but she was not stopping at our table. We closed our menus thinking it would help signal we were ready to order. This is where things got frustrating because she walked past us not one time, but FIVE times and never stopped. We looked at our watch and realized over 20 minutes had passed since we had been seated. At this point our waters were empty as well. My husband and I agreed that if we were not helped in the next 5 minutes we would leave. The server walked by 2 more times without acknowledging us (even making eye contact!) and that time slowly passed by. It still was not even busy. We stood up to leave and I let the host know we were sitting there with no help and would not be waiting any longer. We don't get too many kid free date nights, and I could tell the experience was not going to be what we had hoped for. read more

LISTEN--I came here on a Wednesday a little after they opened at 4pm. The staff were so friendly and the Sushi Chef was so kind. The younger waitress was great and the little Japanese lady who was also helping us were amazing. A list of what we ordered with ratings (and photos): - spicy garlic edamame appetizer - popcorn lobster roll - fresh Japan (saba) makerel sushi - tuna cut roll - bluefin tuna (Spanish) sushi Everything was 10/10 amazing. I've had plenty of omakase, and the fish here is cut perfectly without tendon or any impurities. Compared to all other sushi restaurants I've been to, Sushi chitose is near the top. Service/Ambiance. Service is quick and the sushi chefs are friendly. It is an inviting atmosphere and a gentle ambiance for great food. Some of these comments are extremely upsetting because I've only had great experiences for the past several years here. The employees I've spoken to have been very nice. For the comment saying that the manager is "very pushy about their buy one get one half off special" is absurd. She is literally being nice and excited to tell everyone about their new special and new printed menus that include the special! For the other comment saying that the "chefs are terrible and do not speak english" is just straight up wrong and disappointing. I have never had a bad meal at this place, and that includes all of the years I've been going here. Another point I'd like to make is that if you are reading these reviews, look at how recent some of them are. A lot of the not-so-great reviews are from years ago. As I mentioned, I've watched this place change drastically over the past several years, and they have recently made major changes of improvement! The woman who seats us has given us free dishes and desserts out of pure kindness. I've even watched her train younger, new employees and she is always so kind and patient to them! The prices for special rolls do range and can be slightly higher in price than typical rolls, but these are big rolls with a lot of fish and other contents. Not to mention, these rolls are served with extra sides. For example I usually order the ex-boyfriend roll and it comes with a big piece of tempura salmon and tempura kale. It ends up being so much that I don't even need another roll! The location is great because you can sit outside on a warm day and get a beautiful sunset view. I also enjoy the outdoor atmosphere because its not too crowded. It's across the street and out of the way of all of those other stores/restaurants so you aren't in the middle of the crowd. I was at this location when they first open up, and the server and food are "so so" compare to the Palos Verdes one, and which make me to drive all the way up there for sushi. I decided to give them another try last Monday after servile of months, since is more close to my house. and WOW, it was completely changed. The servers and sushi chef finally said "irashaimase" when we first walk in, and sit us down right away. The server who served us for that night with smile on her face and chat with us beside only taking order. I mean 'chat', they finally "talking" and not being a "order / food runner machine". My friend overheard the next table want to speak with the "manager", and a lady in purple show up and talk about the music with them, and I realized that they maybe have new "management" for this location. I didn't record any one in charged when I was here. For the food, I just order salmon sushi and some appetizer, (which is on special this month). I don't want to spend too much since we just one a "trying mood" today. Overall, I saw lots of improvement from my last visit, and I am DEFIANTLY will be back again since I am able to find "Asaka standard" in this location too. P.S.. I was there last Friday with my family, I always want to check out this Asaka place for a while. Finally I have time today, and I was there a little bit early for their happy hour (I don't even know they have happy hour untill I saw their banner), but the server is kind enough and give the happy hour menu to me to look at before it is actually time. I able to place my order in and she tolds me she is going to file the stuff I order which is "not happy hour" first and get me started and do the "happy hours" one later when the time is up. I am really preciated for what she had done for me (I am not sure about the management will mad about that). Anyway, I had a sashimi delux and the fish was fresh, and sushi burrito from the happy hour menu and suprice me it was actually real "burrito" when it comes up. My wife order salmon teriyaki and was great... and they have brown rice (without extra charged, nice)... my kid got the soy bean and potato salad from my wife's dish...potato salad?? yupe ~believe it or not... I was actaully the best baby food my kid every have. Overall I happy with my visit and food in this place, it is a bit drive from my place (10min), but I will definatly come back and check out the rest of the food on their menu.... This Asaka is awful. Service is terrible and the food was not very good either. I wonder if the owner is different compared to the other Asaka close by? It took me 50 minutes just to receive a veggie tempura platter and my seaweed salad that was drenched in vinegar. Everyone else I was eating with finished their food already. They even got their sushi late. We all ordered salads and those came after the first two rolls came out. My sisters ordered the garden salad. It was dirty, slimy, and weird black stuff was on the radish and lettuce pieces so we immediately returned it. The steamed rice that came with the tempura tasted like cardboard and the miso soup did not have enough tofu and was not miso enough it was very pale. The kitchen was ridiculously slow! The manager/owner was not even walking around to make sure things were going well, he sat outside and ate his food while everything else was disaster. So after a fantastic beach day, we yelped a place to grab some sushi and drinks as usual. Asaka Sushi caught our attention not only because it was close by but also its controversial ratings... As we didn't want to limit our options with others opinions, we decided to give it try anyway and make our own judgments. Great ambience! Loved its interior lightings, and the curtains behind the coaches definitely set this restaurant apart from others that we have been. We arrived around 8pm on a busy Sat and ordered Hot Sake, beer, Baked Mussel, Sushi Burrito (very creative and impressive combination), lobster roll, and some spicy tuna rolls. All were served in 20 minutes, which is not bad at all after sitting down with some green tea and edamame for starter. Food tasted great and waitresses were very friendly with mellow music playing at the background. Price is very reasonable as well. We loved the place because of the whole package and would definitely come back again if we are in the area. read more

From the moment I walked into the restaurant, I was treated like an honored guest. I was seated before my group arrived and offered an upgrade for my Junmai Genko sake order. It only got better from there once my group arrived. Treated like royalty, we ordered the Family Boat for those new to the sushi experience, supplemented by an extremely fresh sashimi assortment, deep fried Dragon Roll, Udon Chicken, Edamame (plain and spicy), mango and green tea mochi platter. We were treated by the chef to an extra entree and birthday platter. Beautiful presentation on everything!! Thank you Cindy and staff for tending to our every whim. I am a regular customer since Asaka first open. I go there at least once a week for either lunch or dinner. I decided to write something after reading some of the yelper's review. Asaka have a nice location, nice interior, and nice music. For food, I would think it is nice and fresh-- red lobster roll is SuPeR....For price, reasonable price, if you able to catch the happy hour and it is consider ChEaP. For services, I think it is good (perhaps my standard is lower??!!). However, I really want to find out where I am able to get a copy of the happy hour menu since every time I mention it to my friends, and I am unable to show them the happy hour special. Overall, Asaka is still a good choice. read more

One of my favorite sushi spots in the South Bay! They truly made my Grandma's birthday celebration one to remember. The customer service was amazing. We ordered quite a lot but waited very little for our plates. The food was delicious and the fish was fresh! The ambience is always spot on! Even with being in a popular area like The Village, once you sit down you are taken out of the hustle and into a calm environment. We will definitely be back to enjoy some more delicious food. I mean this literally when I say that I have never had fish as fresh as the items that come from this place. Came here two times for dinner in three days and it actually got better the second time. If you have to choose one thing, the spicy yellowtail cut roll should be your go to. The entire is staff is also incredibly helpful and friendly, and our boy Akira is an absolute artist behind the sushi bar. 11/10 would recommend to a friend and if you're ever in Redondo and don't come here...yeah you've made a mistake read more

Had dinner there last night, food was great. The sweet woman who served us was a little overwhelmed because she seemed to be the only one there, but she did a great job, considering. Sushi was very fresh and flavorful. My favorite was the spider roll and sexy Redondo roll. She offered us a fresh fish sample (amazing!) from the chef and complimentary macarons after dinner. To whom wants to work here: Do not ever think to work here. The owner shares the tips with employees. He always says this restaurant is managed under his wife's name and denies violation of the law. Additionally, manager forces employees to have break times because they do not want to pay overtimes to save a penny. Please treat your employees kindly, not a slave read more

I absolutely hated this place and the way the owners treated their workers. I came to eat here with a group of friends, but I overheard conversations that were held with the owner and the workers, and it wasn't good... I felt like the owners were really looking down on workers with the way they talked. I am not coming here again. Plus the food was really average. read more

My favorite restaurant of all time! Asaka has the best high quality sushi I have ever had. The service is amazing and all the food is delicious. There is a large menu with a variety of different options, so even if you don't like sushi there is plenty more food to enjoy. Absolutely amazing service. Our waitress, Cindy, was incredible and made sure we were always being taken care of.
