This place is top class. I live near-by and this is my den for late dinners. The fish is always fresh-fresh-fresh, and all tempura are great. Service nice, bar one or two Chinese shallow waitresses but maybe I come too often. Very busy at peak times, I would recommend to try late. read more

So disappointed. This used to be a favourite place of mine to go to, however last time I went they removed my all time top dish from the menu; the scrumptious and no doubt calorie-laden tofu steak! Instead, I was left with my second choice, the vegetarian Bento - but without mushrooms. I asked them if they could double up on anything else, if there did happen to be a fungus based dish in there. They said no, they would not do this. So I picked a tofu item from the menu. When it came out... it was inedible. It had a very strong fishy flavour. I asked for an extra sauce, which they were happy enough to oblige, but it still wasn't enough to mask the nasty taste. I was starving when I left, only managing to eat my Miso soup and rice. I stopped in for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon. I was dining alone, so I was able to he seated immediately. I'm a vegetarian and was able to locate several meatless options. I ended up ordering the vegetable yakisoba. It was absolutely delicious, and a generous size. The only thing keeping this from being a 5 star review is that I needed to hunt down my server to get my bill. I didn't see them for 15-20 minutes after finishing my meal, and I ended up waving down a different server to be able to pay. The restaurant was busy, so I understand. But that's the only thing that was less than superb! read more

Unimpressed unfortunately. Could be me as I am used to ramen from the Bay Area in California. The broth was just lacking. Bland, no salt or depth. Added a lot of soy sauce and still just meh. Shrimp were extremely overcooked. The restaurant is very nice though and the servers are very attentive and nice. I might give it another try. read more

I love Japanese food and am persuasive enough that I can steer a group of 7 hungry Yelpers to the delights of Yamamori for lunch. Partly incentivised by the check-in offer (um, free sake! Win!) but also but the good rating and delish sounding menu, we were warmly greeted at the door. The place was heaving and I was worried we'd be turned away but they magicked up a table for us without any bother at all. I went for a bowl of Yamamori ramen - chargrilled chicken, king prawn, char shu, tofu, egg, seaweed and wasabi chooi sum in a soy sauce, chicken, pork broth and we got some sushi to share. The sushi and sashimi were delicious and disappeared quickly and the ramen arrived without too much of a delay. I'd recently made ramen at home and was interested to see how this compared - pretty good! It was a huge portion, I don't think anyone who got the ramen could finish their bowl! Packed with noodles as well as plenty of prawns, chicken and pork this was a great option for lunch although the restaurant was pretty hot as it was, and a steaming bowl of soup didn't help with that. Used to visit at least 4 times a week, used as a get'together spot with my girlfriends and any business meetings. Tonight I was feeling really tired and decided to pick up Yamamori Noodles food (George's street) Made a phone call at 20:36 Asked for a take away, ordered -Ebi tempura Norimaki (no tails, no masago) -Tatsuta age/white rice and veg and salad separate -Sunamono salad -1 pt (2pcs) GUNKAN with fish eggs (capelin roe) - 1 Pt (2 pcs) Ebi Nigiri -1 pt (2 pcs) salmon nigiri - Ebi tempura... When I got to the Gunkan; the person taking the order kept over-speaking me and asked is it sushi, I told him it is GUNKAN.... since Gunkan has a shape like toilet roll rather than like Nigiri, which is flat bed with anything you imagine on top. The person kept questioning asked do I mean TOFU on top? I told clearly..... No, it's looking very similar shape to Norimaki that's positioned up, bottom is rice, and the top has FISH EGGS, and it's rolled in a seaweed... He noted it down, I drove up, collected it, came home..... OMG!!! I had no black mini toilet paper roll looking shape with fish eggs in my food that I ordered... Not a single fish egg in sight. Now everyone reading can look up -Gunkan with masago or Gunkan Capelin roe as it is on Yamamori menu Which is what I ordered... And please look up Tamago Nigiri... Firstly, I am diabetic and Insulin resistant and I CAN NOT eat soy products. The food looks totally nothing alike, needless to say the guy was hell bent to make order with TOFU on top of it... How can a person working in the Yamamori have GUNKAN on the menu and not know what Gunkan is...? It is a type of sushi.... There are few types on this menu like -Nigiri -Temaki -norimaki - futomaki used to be of my memory is right, not sure if that is the case currently... So I ended up calling Yamamori and express my unhappiness, that I wanted Gunkan with fish eggs and received something that looks like tofu on top and totally different shape. Which is like you order an Audi and they give you a bicycle. It's a transport, but totally different. I asked to speak to a manager since the guy on the phone told me that he can't do anything about it.... The guy told me that I could drive back in and collect them, or pay 20€ which is 10€ to the restaurant and 10€ back to collect it or to be brought to me I don't understand exactly how does it work?? I was thinking the Yamamori on the quays was bad having enormous amount of batter on my ebi tempura and disheartened attitude, but this is just unacceptable. Please make weekly meetings and introduce your staff to the food that is served to your long term loyal customer. I have never ever complained before, but not looking for a compromise with customer says a lot.... I will give 2 stars for the times that Mark used to work there, Frederica, Francesca, Currently Victor, Robbie, Failum and (2 fair haired guys w a beard who know what I have top of their head) and couple of other positive guys who always got my food right... We had two good lunches here during our stay. The first time, we both got yakisobas - he, chicken and me, seafood. There was a lot of delicious seafood in my dish and I particularly remember the plump shrimp. A really good noodle dish! The second time around, we got a yakisoba and a Japanese curry. Both were good, although the yakisoba was the better for the two. The restaurant creates a soothing eating environment and makes you want to come back again. read more

I haven't had much Japanese food before, but this place serves some really nice Ramen (I ordered the Chicken Miso Ramen in particular and it was quite nice). We ordered the Agadashi Tofu (skin-friend Tofu) for the group and got to drink some nice Green Tea to go with it. The service was very prompt and I have nothing to complain about. Mixed feelings about Yamamori: Lovely ambiance and decor, great space and lighting, really attentive service and extensive menu... But... But ... while servings are very generous, the food just doesn't quite hit the spot. Twice now have left feeling incredibly stuffed but not very satisfied with the eats. Can't really put my finger on it but may return a third time to try something different to change my opinion. The Bento Box was 'alright' the first time. On return, the marinated soy and ginger chicken appeared on top of what looked like a giant veggie salad. And the plum wine was served on ice which was a first. Again, generous helpings which come with a higher price tag. But would love a more memorable experience on the palate instead of the pocketbook. Will have to try the ramen nobodies and sushi in the future and form an updated opinion. 3.5 stars with a potential for 4 :) Note: Great spot for groups - ask for the booth in the back as it seats about 10! read more

I love this place! Awesome sushi and location! Just a few step away the vibrant Dame Street! When I lived in Dublin this was my favorite Yamamori! It's a very nice place for enjoying a dinner with friends or boyfriend! They have a huge selection of different plates and types of Japanese dishes. The one I liked most was the Norimaki Rainbow, so tasty and big! Then for dessert don't forget to try the Green Tea Brule. I don't know why but you can find it only in this restaurant! Nice meal here this past weekend! We had a large group and they were easily able to accommodate us. Everyone had a variety of dishes so I can only really comment on my own. For a starter I got the pork gyoza which wasn't out of the ordinary but tasted nice. For my main I had the Ishi Yaki Bibimbap which I would definitely recommend. Mix of beef, vegetables, egg and served over rice in a clay pot. It had nice flavours and was great to combat the cold weather. J had the bento box which had great variety and was a good amount of food. Everyone seemed to love their dishes. This place is always buzzing - I'm not sure why, perhaps due to its familiarity on South Gt George's St. I've been in here a couple of times and haven't been overly impressed. Each time my bowl of vegetarian ramen was pretty flavourless, and unexciting. My Dad was unimpressed by his seafood ramen, for similar reasons. This place gives the impression of catering for 'casual dining', but the drinks and mains are quite expensive. It can get very noisy here at weekends too, and as the benches/tables are so close together, it doesn't feel relaxed, more like pandemonium! I wouldn't rush back here of my own accord. There are more flavourful, and better value options on George's Street, but I acknowledge that it has its appeal for some people. read more

Yamamori Noodles never let me down when I need a meal last minute without bookings. Staff are always nice and sometimes even make you laugh. The daily bentos are the best pick if you don't know what to get, but I've gotten into ordering their noodles more now, and they are also super delish. I still enjoy their movies being played silently on their screen hanging on the wall, instead of the usual shogun period movies they were playing Casablanca with Japanese subtitles the last time I was there , that's what the nice waitress told me with a giggle. You are guaranteed leaving there with a full tummy. read more

Very tasty. The fillet beef sushi was delicious. Nice atmosphere up by the window but I wouldn't like to be seated at the larger more communal table areas. Yamamori's is too big for me. There's too many chairs, therefore there is too many people, and for a person who talks extremely quietly, my voice will just not carry over any sort of din. Okay, so it's way too loud, but Yamamori's has it's upside in that the service is very good, and the menu looks enticing. I had the grilled tofu ramen for 9.50, and was a little taken aback when I received my rather massive bowl of food. If you would like to gauge how big it was for yourself, please place you arms wide of your chest, bend your elbows, then bring the tips of your figures together. That is near enough how big the bowl was, well more or less, and I was stuffed a quarter of the way in. However, was I happy - yes! 9.50 for that amount of food is madness in my books, but I love it when you get more than you bargained for. My boyfriend on the other hand, got the bento box for 16.00 euro, and the amount of food in comparison to my own was negligible. So I guess you can say price doesn't guarantee quantity, but having said that food is still delicious. For those on a health kick there is also those pesky calorie counters right beside all the nice food on the menu, and for the Japanese movie buffs, films projected onto walls while you sip your green tea. Overall pretty cool place, but for the quiet retiring types, best stir clear during the dinner rush hour. read more

I was quite impressed with the menu and was looking forward to a bowl of delicious noodles. I had the tonkotsu ramen. It was a disappointment as soon as I looked at it. The egg floatng in my bowl was cut in half and hard boiled. It should have been whole with a just beginning to set, runny yolk. The broth was cloudy, as it should be. But it appears they use very few bones to make the broth as it has barely any pork flavor and no gelatinous texture. The greatest disappointment was in the noodles themselves. Ramen should have chewy alkaline noodles. Yamamori's ramen had soggy noodles that broke as you tried to pick them up with the chopsticks. I didn't have the opportunity to sample any of the rest of their menu. But I wouldn't go back given the opportunity based on the dish I had. read more

My husband and I showed up without a reservation and, even though they were extremely busy, were still seated within 10 minutes. This was also one of the only places in Dublin that was still serving dinner after 10 pm! We both ordered ramen - my husband the chicken miso and myself their vegetarian miso option. They were really average and overpriced at about 17 euro each. The veg one had such a flavorless broth that I had to add a ton of chili sauce, I couldn't taste any miso base at all. It was also lacking veggies typical in a vegetarian ramen: needed corn or mushrooms or anything substantial really! There was grilled tofu in it that was a bit hard to eat in such a flavorless broth. My husband was also pretty unenthused about his chicken miso and thought it could have used more noodles. The service was pretty good but confusing with about 5 different people checking on us. One of the first Japanese restaurants to open in Dublin Yamamori serves a good menu and decent range of drinks. Pleasant atmosphere and good service - for the most part. I did have one unhappy experience there when a friend and I spent ages waiting for our food and when we eventually collared a waiter he explained that the kitchen has mislaid the order but when we said we were leaving he had the cheek to ask if we wanted our bill for our drinks. My stay at the Yamamori Noodles dates back a bit (around two years) but here it goes. ;-) I visited the Yamamori with a bunch of Irish friends who had recommended the restaurant (which in itself is not a bad feature). Considering we ate at the Yamamori at 20 o'clock on Friday evening with a full restaurant around us the service still was quick and efficient. The price level may seem high for somebody used to German catering but is consistent with the general pricing for food in Ireland. The food was tasty and no obvious points of complaint arose during our stay - my main course was a very satisfying, well-spiced Chicken Teriyaki. So yeah, this 4-star-rating should serve as a recommendation of the Yamamori to all Dublin tourists/visitors who are suddenly overcome by the craving for Asian/Japanese food. :-) read more

I lived in Japan for nearly a year and fell in love with Japan's food and culture. I look for good Japanese food in every city I visit and was happy to discover Yamamori when my daughter suggested it. The tonkatsu ramen was outstanding, the waitstaff were friendly and attentive, and the ambience relaxed. I liked that they played an old B/W Japanese film on one wall--no Kurosawa masterpiece, but it added nicely to the atmosphere. Now I've eaten take out from here before and it was great but I was in the other day and unfortunately, it was lacklustre. I ordered the prawn, chicken and prawn noodle soup and when the basin appeared in front of me I was impressed.... until I started eating it. There was a heap of shredded ginger on the top which I can't stomach and wasn't warned about in the menu so before I started, I had the laborious challenge of picking each little shred off with chopsticks. The meat and fish in the dish had been boiled to jaysis and all tasted of the same cardboard and I had to cure the stock soup's depression by chucking in a bowlful of fresh chillis. The noodles were lovely though....bit late for that. On a positive side, the staff were fantastic and friendly and the green tea on arrival was a nice touch. My girlfriend liked her meal so maybe I'll try it again but please stop boiling the jaysis out of the meat and fish! :( read more

I ask for a temaki, the waiter misheard us, he brought a sushi platter, I said the order was wrong and he called me a liar! He was really rude and throw the food in the table. So underwhelmed :( was excited to try here and not that it was really bad .. It just wasn't the best it could be! The restaurant is very cramped and all on top of each other. The staff were great,friendly and helpful! The spider crab sushi was huge and tasty but I found it to big that I had to cut it apart. Other times I had sushi they were small bite sized pieces I could just pop in my mouth and enjoy all the flavours togheter. The tempura haddock was good but abit tasteless I had to put soy sauce on top to make it abit more flavoursome. The pumpkin gyoza were also disappointing as the pumpkin was undercooked on the inside. The prawn tempura was limp and tasteless. I had a mojito that was very strong but the leaves were limp and dead.. Id expect abit more for an €8 cocktail..All in all I didn't enjoy the meal! Saying that the table beside us got dishes that looked amazing. I'd probably return a give something else a go! read more

I'm a big fan of all the Yamamori's in Dublin, this is my favourite one to come to for dinner with my partner or when you want more of 'sit down' mean (along with Tengu), it's a little more intimate as its smaller than the other Yamamori's. The Menu is great as it has a full selection of main dishes, noodles/Ramen, Norimaki and also sushi. My favourite dishes here are the Ebi Goyza (any Goyza to be fair) Ebi Norimaki and bento boxes that change every day. With bento boxes it really Depends of your preference, I made a mistake getting one before with Tofu which I had never tired before, I learned that day I don't like tofu! But it's always good to try something new and different. For lunch the Sashimi is delicious, light and plain and you can always order an extra side dish to accompany this. Argentinian Malbec by the glass is really good! Staff always attentive and polite! read more

When I suggested a New Year's Eve meal to a friend, I wasn't sure if restaurants would be open beyond 7pm and thought we might end up in McDonald's. Yamamori was open til at least 9pm and the lovely staff found us a table fairly quickly. The ramen was really good, and the restaurant itself certainly feels like a step up from the Wagamamas of the world but I'm not sure it's enough of a step up to justify the more expensive prices. I'm not really a sushi person - the idea of raw fish grosses me out to be quite honest. I just get visions of poor fish swimming around my belly looking for the sea from whence they came. Having said that, I adore Japanese food. There's something lovely and clean tasting or something about it, and it's so good for you too (as long as you avoid that sticky rice temptation which is always my downfall) Yamamori is probably one of the best you're going to get in Dublin. My American friends constantly bemoan the lack of good sushi places around the city, but agree that this place is a bit of a saving grace (apologies guys, we're obviously not as cultured as ye are!) The Chicken Teryaki is sizzlingly sumptuous, and the miso is as good as miso can be. As long as you don't mind the possibility of being seated to real slurpers (I don't care how culturally acceptable it is...keep the mess to your own area thank you very much!), this is as good it gets around here! read more

I am a fiend for sushi and this place did not disappoint. Delicious sushi and its not overly expensive for how much you get but the inclusion of pickled ginger is what really sold me, I could eat that stuff from a jar I love it so much! My Main was lovely, big portion and really tasty though a little more expensive than I'd hoped. The only thing I can say about the experience was our first waitress was a little odd, she seemed to be elsewhere which came across as her not caring however this was compensated for by the guy who took our dessert order who had more than enough personality and smiles to go around! Loud and pleasant atmosphere around 9pm on Thursday night. Service was quick. The Lychee martini is fine - a little too much like lemon cordial but no major complaints at 5.50. Lovely if not entirely traditional bento box for 18.50 - a mackerel in miso sauce, brown rice, miso soup, and the normal lacquer box with teriyaki chicken (with a salad of sprouts/zucchini/cabbage) and another kind of fish with wasabi cream sauce (on top of seaweed, carrots, corn and green beans). The salads were really nice, and good quality considering the mayonnaise/carrot/cabbage blob that usually comes with Japanese food! The three nigiri in the box were beautiful - the salmon like butter - and not too cold. A little odd that there was wasabi in the nigiri, the fish dressing and on its own in the box! No Japanese desserts available but there was a considerable number of Japanese whiskeys to try next time! Interesting availability of kefir milk and icecream. Will be back for lunch! read more
