The kimchi did add heat but still could not mask the missing pork flavour. This place was fine in a pinch but not somewhere I would make an effort to go to regularly.

The environment was a bit darker than what I am used to for ramen and it was really warm in the restaurant! Almost no ventilation at all. Hard to enjoy when you are sweating through your meal.

I cant call this place a true izakaya as they don't offer Tokyo staples such as whiskey and sodas (highball). In fact they just carry beer wine and sake. Also they don't carry other izakaya staples such as tempayaki sticks nor does it have any of the festive menu combos that Japanese izakaya are known for. Considering sushi and japanese food in London is terrible for the most part, this place is a bit refreshing but not good enough for me to rate higher than three stars. Also something I ate gave me a moderate allergic reaction which hasn't happened to me once in 20 trips to Tokyo over the last decade. Not sure what it was. Hey - its better than Tonkotsu!

Perhaps it's more lively on a weekday given the neighborhood. I came because I was craving cold soba and was not disappointed. The noodles are made in house and cooked perfectly, and the tsuyu had a rich depth of flavor. The tempura was light and delicate and also came with a flavorful sauce. They also seem to do sushi well, with nice touches like a brush to apply soy sauce so you don't overdo it on the dip. I had an umeshiso roll and it was quite tasty. The people getting real sushi seemed to be enjoying it. We also had a miso- beef tendon, which was on the specials menu. That was fabulous, super tender and flavorful. Overall they seem to do especially well at broths and sauces. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant with nice lighting and high ceilings. The service is kind and quick with water refills, but let us enjoy our dessert (sharp yuzu ice cream) and tea in peace. It was a nice dinner and worth the spend. We'll be back.
