Before coming to London on our honeymoon, I had jotted down all the restaurants I wanted to try, Wagamama was on the top of the list. I didn't know that there would be so many Wagamamas throughout the city, but on our second day of touring about London we found one and I was so excited to try it out!. We ordered ebi(shrimp) katsu for starters and the shirodashi ramen (pork belly ramen with in chicken broth), I am so glad we shared the ramen because the sizes are really generous! I really liked the ebi katsu, really flavorful sauces and shrimp was fried perfectly. The pork belly was really tender, the fatty parts basically melted in your mouth! Good flavors to the broth, but I was a little disappointed in the egg, usually ramen eggs are marinated in a combination of mirin and soy sauce, other than that the food was really delicious. Service here is friendly, food comes out in a timely manner and there are options for everyone! read more

The worst ramen I've ever had in my life. Now that that's out of the way, this Wagamama is located within the lovely, modern Cardinal Place. We arrived around 8 p.m. and requested to sit outside to enjoy the unusually warm London weather. Patio closes at 9 and they advised us they would move us inside at that time. The BBQ pork buns were probably my favorite of the meal. The meat was spicy and the Japanese mayo was a nice touch. The Chicken Katsu Curry was delicious and a very generous portion. The Chili Ramen was terrrribleeee. I got the top sirloin and it was inedible- tough, chewy, and no flavor. The copious amount of raw onion on top made the broth taste disgusting. Service was attentive and friendly. I'd go back and skip the ramen. read more

Located at the upper level of Cardinal Place, this place was very crowded and extremely noisy. The tables were set up cafeteria style. If you don't mind hearing the other parties gossiping loudly next to you, then you may just tolerate this place. My sister and I came in at around 7:30pm on a Wednesday night. The place was packed and again, noisy. We waited for about 15 minutes to be seated. The server gave us maybe 30 seconds before coming by asking if we were ready to order. We got two side dishes to try, duck gyoza and pork belly steamed buns. The gyoza was crunchy. The dipping sauce complimented the duck nicely. The steamed bun was thick but fluffy, and the Sriracha gave a nice kick to my taste bud. I ordered the duck donburi while my sister ordered the grilled chicken ramen (sorry, no pic of the ramen). The duck was a bit dry. I think it would've been better if the egg was cooked over-easy so the gooey yoke could be mixed in with the rice. That's just my preference. There are many different other restaurants in the area to choose from. I do NOT recommend coming to this place. The noise was a big factor. Although the meal was not expensive, I felt that I could've gotten better food for around the same price at another restaurant. read more

I've been reading that Wagamama is good for ramen but I didn't end up ordering that. It was a hot day so I really didn't feel like eating something with hot broth. So I opted for the ginger chicken udon. They use pickled ginger, which I was a bit iffy about at first since I'm not usually a fan. But this was actually really good. The flavor paired well with the saltiness of the noodles. The chicken tasted a bit leftover-y but I still ate everything since I was starving. We have one Wagamama location in NYC so I'll probably go and try the ramen there (though I'm sure it won't be as good). Tip - Wagamama is good for a quick sit down lunch. The food comes out pretty quickly, so you'll be in and out in about 45 minutes or so. read more

I came here with my family during a super busy lunch hour on a Friday. We were taking a break during our visit at the Buckingham Palace so we noticed this restaurant was nearby; my sister had heard good things about it from her friends so we wanted to give it a try. It certainly didn't disappoint; large portions, delicious food, *fantastic* staff, and quick service during lunch hour made this experience pretty excellent. We were hardcore rushing when we came in for our lunch, so we told the servers and they really helped us get our meals on the tables quickly. This place has outdoor seating, and we were seated outside because it would be faster. Because it was starting to rain, the servers offered to switch our outdoor table to one that was at least covered, and when we requested to switch again they complied. Really though, the staff here is excellent and so accommodating. As for the food, I got a Teriyaki Donburi bowl with chicken, which was delicious. It was a cold rice bowl topped with chicken and a lot of carrots and bean sprouts. Mixing in the kimchi made me really enjoy this dish. My meal was the first to arrive at the table (fyi in case you're in a bit of a hurry!). The rest of my family ordered Chicken Ramen, a Chili Prawn and Kimchi Ramen, and the Firecracker curry dish with chicken. All of which were delicious; the Chicken Ramen was lighter than the prawn/kimchi dish. The ramen dishes were definitely larger than the curry dish (although the chicken curry was a good balance between sweet and savory). 10/10 service, delicious food. Just wish we weren't in a rush so we had more time to enjoy it! read more

This was a surprisingly good place tucked away off the Main Street in a shopping mall. I had the spicy miso mackerel which was seasoned just right. Washed it down with saki. Other members of our party had beef teriyaki, tofu curry, tofu pad Thai, and ramen bowl. They all enjoyed theirs. Also had appetizers steamed buns and potstickers. We opted for dessert: miso caramel ice cream(yum), ginger and white cheesecake, smoked chocolate cake, and fried bananas. Overall it was very good. I would highly recommend. read more

This was another chain that I wanted to make sure to try on our first trip to London. We were seated pretty quickly and the food came out in no time flat which was great. Compared to eating out in the U.S. I also thought the price to portion size was very reasonable for a sit down place. My husband got the ramen and I got some noodle dish with steak. We loved both and it was a great dinner for a rainy night. The only things I didn't like about the place were the communal seating (introvert nightmare) and how slippery the floors were. I went to two Wagamama's for lunch during the two days I was in London. I don't regret it. But admittedly, I still felt underwhelmed by the food. This time, I had a raw salad and the signature Wagamama Ramen. The salad was fine--I was just happy to have some greens instead of the heavy pies, sausages & gravies I had been eating the prior week in Northern England. The ramen itself was filled with lots of delicious things - pork, shrimp, chicken, mussels, a tea egg, chikuwa and wakame. I didn't find the broth to be very flavorful - in fact, I had to add soy sauce to add salt as it just tasted bland without it. And well, this is not their fault, but this just reconfirmed that I really don't like mussels. If you do like mussels, then you will be happy with the amount they add to the bowl, but if you don't, it might just be best to ask them to not add them at all. Other than that, everything else was pretty enjoyable and despite being super crowded, my service was very attentive from start to finish. read more

Everyone raved about the seafood ramen and I was not impressed. Very bland, not much flavor, and lacking substance. Yakiudon was also meh. The flavors didn't blend well at all. The noodles lacked flavor, too much of the other things, the noodles needed to be fried longer to get the crunchy taste. Chili squid was ok. Nothing to rave about. The chasu bun was amazing. The bun itself was moist, warm, and melts in your mouth. The pork was done right and really flavorful. I was not a fan of the Korean BBQ one. Just the flavors were meh, overall, meh. This is a Asian food chain worth going to at least once. The ramen was overpriced but the juice was good. I ordered the Wagamama ramen and the clean green juice. The ramen had a nice Smokey flavour but slightly too salty. The green juice however was very refreshing on a hot summer day. The staff were very pleasant and seated us quickly and food came fairly quickly. When we paid, the server did not return with our change. We may have given them a bigger tip then deserved because we left without receiving it. As the servers were all too busy clearing tables. Before my trip to London, my friend strongly recommended Wagamama, particularly the one in Westminster- saying it's one of the best ramen he has ever had (anywhere). There was a Wagamama right across my hotel in SoHo but I had to do my friend justice by going to the location he raved about. The (lack of) queue: We came in around 3:30p and there were no lines. The restaurant had a lot of seatings but luckily it was a fairly quiet afternoon. The food: We ordered Asahi beer (yum, classic), fried squid, Wagamama ramen, and Ginger Chicken udon, which were all delicious! The ramen's broth was not as creamy as what I'm used to back home but I love the fact that you can drink the entire bowl and it was not salty. I would describe the bowl as the healthiest ramen bowl I've eaten (lol). My friend described the broth as slightly bland. (To each their own I guess lol). Although it was a good ramen bowl, I don't think I would order it again - I rather try something else on their extensive menu. BUT I would definitely recommend the fried squid and ginger chicken udon! The texture of the udon was to die for - I'm huge on texture of noodles and these were on point. I'm always catious of ordering chicken dishes because in most cases, the chicken is too dry. Unforunately, the chicken that came in the ramen bowl was dry but the chicken in the udon dish was absolutely delicious. Surprisingly, I liked all the bean sprouts that came with this dish. If I were to order the udon dish again, I'd ask to put the ginger on the side. Sometimes it was too much for me. Wagamama needs to be on your list of to-do's if you're visiting London. read more

I've had a bad experience at Wagamama previously in Manchester but this one was much better. We popped in at around 8:30pm, it was quite busy but we were seated straight away. We had the squid to start. The seasoning and the dipping sauce didn't add that much flavour so it was still quite dull. For my main I had the vegetarian noodles with mushrooms, eggs and veggies. They were quite nice, the portion was very generous and I was very satisfied. For desert we had the new banana pudding with salted caramel ice cream which was lovely. Wagamama restaurants were a staple location during my study abroad experience - more than, ahem, 20 years ago. And since then, I've visited the two loacations in the US. But now that I'm back for a visit, had to stop into one! Pretty close to what I remember. Menu has been updated but many staples still on there. This particular branch had some lovely outdoor seating. The garlic salt edamame was great, as was our ginger chicken teppanyaki dish (with rice noodles instead of udon). Was pretty disappointed in the chicken and prawn donburi dish - presentation not great, little flavor, etc. but the fried banana and ice cream dessert was great - using Pablo breadcrumbs was a pleasant yet unexpected surprise. Above all, the service was fantastic - Fabio was friendly and helpful. While not exactly what I remember, the experience brought some amazing memories and was well worth it. I credit wagamama for embarking me on my ramen journey years ago. It's the first place I can remember trying the Japanese noodles outside of the microwaveable college staple variety, the first time I found out such a legitimized version even existed, and I had a glorious "well, well, well... and what is this?" moment that's stuck with me over time as a result. After a decade hiatus, and many American ramen adventures in the interim, I was excited to return to London and re-visit where it all began. As it turns out, my ramen palate has evolved since my humble beginnings slurping noodles at a British-based, pan-Asian restaurant chain. I ordered the Shirodashi Ramen (pork belly in bulgogi sauce, chicken broth with dashi and miso, pea shoots, menma, spring onions, wakame, tea-stained egg) and the broth was a bit thin and needed more flavor, while the noodles were somewhat clumpy. But I gotta tell you, ramen is ramen, and none of these nitpicks stopped me from scarfing down the whole bowl. That, and a bottle of Hitachino White Ale (a pricier Japanese import beer in the US) was a steal. This specific wagamama is on the second floor of an indoor/outdoor shopping centre, with its typical communal seating set-up. Our initial waitress was a bit of an alarmist when she found out there was a food allergy at the table, saying that we might not be able to order anything. Thankfully, that was not the case and the accommodating manager took over our table and guided us through appropriate options. Fittingly, there was a group of guests in their late-teens / early-twenties not far from our seats, a group that probably didn't look all too different from mine years ago when I first entered a wagamama. Perhaps I'm giving too much credit to this chain, because my nostalgia for this place sadly slipped away as I realized how inferior its ramen was to most other ramens I've had in between. Or perhaps other ramen joints have just gotten that much better. Or perhaps I've just gotten older and more judge-y and should just shut up and enjoy quick-service ramen for what it is. I know Wagamama is a chain, but sometimes these chains differ from restaurant to restaurant. Having said that I've been to a few Wagas and they are all generally good, with friendly service and you can pretty much guarantee the food is always the same. I have a few favourites on the menu: Chicken Itame Chicken Tama Rice Chicken Ramen Duck Gyoza and Tori Kara Age are both very good as sides. Today I had Chicken Chili Men, which was very good too - just the right amount of chili, I'll be adding it to my list of favourites. Wagamamas is a good alternative (although quite a bit more expensive) to a fast food place, as its generally a quick turn around and you do sometimes have the food come out at different times - so dont wait for everyone to get there food before you dig in! As the seating is all benches, you can sometimes have trouble getting a table for a large group, although today we managed to get seating for 9 with only a 15 minute wait. That said, Wagamama's is usually a reliable bet for Asian fusion food, and last night proved no exception as I and a friend ate here before going to the theatre. The quality of the food was good, and service was correct and rapid, if slightly impatient during the ordering process at times. Pricing is (as every) reasonable -- perhaps slightly expensive compared to the individual Asian canteens, but the food quality makes up for it. This particular Wagamama's is very well-placed in the Cardinal Place complex, merely 5 minutes walk away from Victoria station, and very close to both the Apollo Victoria and the Victoria Palace theatres. Its location is also picturesque, on the quieter upper tier next to the SW1 Gallery and on the partially glass-covered courtyard. A restful place to eat before the theatre, with no need to worry about slow service! read more

Being someone with a peanut and sesame allergy, japanese is usually a no-no. But at Wagamama, I'm able to eat good japanese for a good price, while it's closeby to my house as well! I usually get the chicken katsu curry, and it's one of the best things I have ever tasted. It's steamed rice covered in curry sauce with katsu chicken, a special fried japanese way of chicken, and vegetables. I'm able to enjoy a good meal, while having a good time, and not having to worry. Friendly staff, kid friendly, it's just a good all-around place to eat. For those of you in the states, they have this in Boston, while my main wagamama is in London. I doubt I can add much that's new to the many, many Wagamama reviews already on here, so I'll just echo the basics: it's a large, spacious, minimally decorated room, service is friendly enough, and the food is delicious and reasonably priced by London standards. This location seems to get a lot of business lunch-hour traffic, but by 1:30 pm on a Tuesday, we could walk in and be seated right away. The large outside tables are family-style, so you might very well have to scoot up next to strangers and pass the soy sauce. I had the pork ramen bowl, which was a generous portion and had meltingly tender pork bits, although the best part of the dish was actually the crisp, fresh bamboo shoots - go figure. My boyfriend had the ginger chicken udon and thought it was good as well. Maybe it was being out in the patio area, but service seemed spotty and somewhat chaotic - we were served by a variety of different staff and were never really sure who our server was if we needed something. Getting the check was pretty slow, which was a bit surprising, since it sounds like they're known for fast turnover.
