My friends and I had been to another location but never to this one. We came and had no problem getting a table but it took a bit for someone to come greet us. We told them we had a shrimp allergy and he went above and beyond to provide a book, go over some items in the menu and ask multiple times if I would be ok with x or y. I appreciated him looking out but it was a little over the top. The food and drinks came out sloowwww and cold. I barely wound up touching my food after being there so long. This place is a zero for me. We were seated promptly but it wasn't clear who would serve us. After a while, someone came and took our orders. The curried prawn dish came out quickly; however, it was tiny salad shrimp and a bed of rice with a few vegetables. My order never came out. We received the duck bao buns after the first entree came to the table. We took a food bites of the bao bun and it was uneventful. When we told the server we were waiting for the other entree, he said, it always comes out whenever it's ready. My order still didn't come after 15 minutes. My better half refused to start eating his entree without me having a meal. The server passed by and said "we are pushing the kitchen"-- passed by and never stopped. We asked for the manager and said we opted to leave because the service was not acceptable. The manager offered an explanation that they have a large kitchen and the food is prepared at different stations, so it comes out whenever it's ready. Wagamama is what's for dinner. I'm usually not muc of a fusion style dinner, but this just felt right tonight. I felt like some duck fried gyoza, tori Kara age, and pulled pork with panko apple buns. Washed it down with a blueberry spice juice. Ending the evening off with some Vietnamese coffee ice cream and a double shot of expression. I'm pretty satisfied with my choices. I would go again. I had previously had wagamama in New York. My brother and I were both ecstatic to come across it during our stay in London. We knew going in that the meals come out at separate times but after receiving my meal it took my brother over an hour to get his. Luckily our server was very courteous and brought us a round of drinks on the house and dessert was on the house. His customer service went above and beyond which saved our second experience at wagamama. The food was delicious. We ordered to start pork gyoza, I recommend getting them grilled. My main meal was the short rib ramen. The rib was so tender and the meat fell right off the short bone... mouth watering haha. On our way to Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in Southwark, we chanced upon Wagamama. My friend had suggested this place to us, but we did not know if we were going to have the time to seek it out. So, we decided that this will be our post-theatre dining venue that evening since it is on the way back to the London Bridge tube station from The Globe Theatre. We started with the Chili Garlic Salt Edamame and the Pulled Pork Gyoza. The edamame was really good. The chili and salt gave it an extra kick of flavor. My husband and I both did not like the Pulled Pork Gyoza however. Too sweet! Both the filling and the sauce were sweet, so that taste overpowered everything else. You need to balance out that sweetness with some extra acidity. Maybe more vinegar in the sauce? It was disappointing not to see tonkotsu listed on the ramen part of the menu, but I thought I'd try the ramen anyway. They only serve miso based soups. I settled for the Wagamama ramen which seemed to have everything under the sun in it. It had chicken, pork, clams, mussels, shrimp and a tea stained egg. The egg yolk was overdone and the broth was just okay. The chicken was tasteless, and the other stuff in it, again, just okay. I would not recommend this dish. Try maybe one of the curries or the Yaki Udon. My husband had the Yaki Udon dish and it was good. It had a nice flavor and the thick noodles made the dish filling enough. However, it's not a very generous amount, so if you are hungry, don't share it with others. Service was good and our food came out in a timely manner. Note that the service charge is not included in the check, so you will have to add a 12% tip. read more

Southern Californian on holiday, here! At first glance, Wagamama looked like a good place for some Asian cuisine, so we stopped in today. If what you're looking for is white-washed Asian food, this is your place! The food here is just okay, and honestly BLAND. I got the Katsu bowl, which would be good if it weren't so predictable. The curry literally tasted like the packet curry from supermarkets, if not more bland. My friend ordered the spicy sirloin ramen, whose soup was also disappointingly bland...even after adding a ton of seven spice. What a shame. The service? Slower than molasses. I've been to a few Wagamamas in my day, so I knew more or less what to expect when it came to food. That boils down to affordable, passable Asian fare catered to a non-Asian palate. I ordered the chicken kare lomen, a bowl of ramen noodles in a lemongrass curry broth. It was good for a few bites, when the broth was still novel, but after that it got way too sweet. The broth was also much less a broth than a sludge, and it wasn't the sort of thing you could slurp on its own. The noodles were mediocre, like cheap spaghetti, without a bit of chew. I tried some chili men which was a better dish, pretty fair with a little kick and noodles that were a little less cooked. The yakisoba was thinly flavored, unlike any yakisoba I've ever seen. I didn't touch Matt B.'s tiny portion of teriyaki beef, but he reported that while the sauce was good, the meat was awful. But, like I said, the food was more or less what I expected. The food came quickly, too, and wine was cheap. What got me about this Wagamama was a strange encounter our group of five had with management. We were a party of five, but four of us got seated first as the fifth was running behind. When we tried to order her food, we were told that five people could not sit at our table, as it was designed for four. There was plenty of room for a fifth person, but our waiter told us that there were concerns of too much food on the table, as a hot plate might fall in one of our laps. He told us he would bring by a manager and, apparently, did not put in our last order. Much, much later, after our hungry fifth arrived, the manager finally came by after the rest of us had already finished our food. We tried to order food for one now that the table was cleared, but we were refused. I then tried to order food for myself, and I was refused, with the observation that "that would be like ordering alcohol for an under-aged person." Except, of course, that EATING is legal. Anyway, the staff was rude and unaccommodating and I don't think that our group of five reasonable people were being unreasonable. I wouldn't go back to this Wagamama with its absurd policies and stubborn staff. I can get chain noodles without the attitude elsewhere. read more

Slightly inauspicious street name aside, Wagamama's on Clink Street near London Bridge tube station is a beautifully located branch of this Asian chain housed beneath the railway arches just next to Nando's. If I'm honest, the last time I visited Wagamama's I was unceremoniously drunk and in need of some carbs. Pronto. The service was charming and fast and the food great. Just what you need when inebriated. A friend and I ordered the yummy Gyoza dumplings to start which pack a punch and are great to share with friends; and then the Ginger Chicken Udon which arrived in about five minutes flat, was ridiculously tasty and came in super generous portions. All in all a fabulous place for a quick, healthy meal which will set you back about a tenner a head in a picturesque location just near the South Bank. read more

With London in the grips of a heatwave there are only two things that you want; a cold beer and some aircon. We dipped into Wagamama thinking we'd find both and were sadly mistaken. The front of the restaurant is all windows which makes for a miserable situation inside. It felt like a sauna and a tanning booth all at once. There were a couple of spots in the shade, but they were minimal compared to the overall size of the place. When we were seated we specifically asked for shade. Seems the waitress's idea of shade and ours was different. For her, my back being baked in the sun while my wife enjoyed the shade was good enough. Of course, we had to move tables. The second sin was serving us room temperature beer. The final straw (mixing metaphors here) was having the ONLY section completely in the shade closed off to paying customers. It seems the employees NEEDED this area to sit around, shoot the shit, and generally ignore their melting customers. It's sad when the customers have to show the employees how to operate the blinds in the front of the restaurant. The food may have been amazing, but it's hard to appreciate when you're suffering the effects of heat stroke. An apathetic staff didn't help the ambiance either. As much as I love this chain I won't be returning to this location. read more

On a cold, windy afternoon, I craved a hot soup to warm me up and I spied Wagamama's just a short walk away. Upon entering, there were plenty of seats to choose from, so I was seated right away. I ordered a spicy noodle soup with chicken and was sorely disappointed. The broth was not spicy at all, and in fact, was not even hot in regards to temperature! The flavor was bland and no one came by to bring condiments (i.e. soy sauce) or a refill on my water. I ended up just eating the chicken and leaving behind the noodles and broth. When you go to Wagamama you expect something as it is a popular chain on the high street but to be honest with you, I think it is over rated. To say it is Japanese fusion is not fare on the great Japanese food we have in London. I ordered a agadashi tofu which was not authentic and the stock doesn't taste of anything. Even in cheap Japanese restaurants they do a much better job of this dish. This was followed by Pad Thai which again lacked flavour and was not authentic. For the cost of these noodles you expect something but get nothing in return. The service was polite but nothing special. Arrived at 22:40 and even though they closed at 11pm THEY LET ME IN! Is this life? I think so! :-))) I personally think they are winning from the outset. I ordered a new starter, something with chicken and mint on a skewer (Sorry I know that probably wasn't helpful) and was told that as it was new and some people hadn't been keen on it so I could have it on the house to see how I felt about it! FREE FOOD??!?!? I mean... come on now!? It WAS rank to be fair but hey, waste not want not right? I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry (I usually go for the veg option but Carpe Diem and all that) which took longer than average to arrive. Ok, It was edible but in all honesty completely overcooked. I was offered a brand new one but I was so hungry my stomach had more rumble than a tumble dryer so I declined. Staff were all SUPER polite! You know that leaving the restaurant thinking "ahhhh she was REALLLLLLLY nice" kind of polite. Manager was BRILLIANT too.. the way she says "I don't like it" completely made my day. I don't suggest you ask her to say it but it was definitely a highlight, LOVELY woman. I had wanted to visit Wagamama's for ages having heard such great things about their Asian approach to fast food. I'd even looked at the menu a couple of times online to figure out what I would order if the opportunity presented itself. Unfortunately, when I finally sat down at a table in the Clink Street branch the waitress instructed me that they had sold out of all the items I wanted. I was pretty gutted that they didn't have any dumplings left or any noodle dishes with prawns. It was only 2 o'clock on Saturday afternoon so I wondered how much more they would run out of by the end of the day. The food we did order was very nice although I made the mistake of ordering a salad and had a bit of carb envy over my friends' noodles. She found her dish a bit too spicy but I think she brought that on herself by ordering the Chilli Beef Ramen. Everything arrived very quickly and we enjoyed a couple of Wagamama's fresh juices. Although I'd go back to Wagamama's in the future, it wouldn't be my first choice for Thai food or even my third or forth. It was great that our food arrived so fast but, as soon as we had finished our plates were lifted so quickly it was clear that the waitress wanted us out of there. Obviously this is a fast food restaurant and so these things have to be expected but I'm more of a sit back and relax kind of girl. Would give it 3.5 stars but am rounding up. We had pad thai, and it was decent. We asked that ours be cooked without nuts, and they took great care to do so which I appreciated. Ambience was also decent. High ceiling and relatively spacious. Service was also prompt and good in general. As said, when we asked for our dishes without nuts, one of the managers personally came to check on other allergies and informed us that there are nuts in the kitchen in general so would we be okay with that. My husband had never been to a Wagamamas restaurant before but chose it because it was within walking distance from the Menier Chocolate Factory where we'd seen a matinee performance. He was also unaware that Wagamamas is the restaurant of choice for my daughter who was delighted to find out that was where we were going! There was a queue of people waiting to be seated but the staff were very quick to find us a table when they discovered that my husband was disabled and couldn't stand for too long. It was quite busy and, having sat down, the waiter didn't realise that we hadn't been given menus and it was some time before we could attract his attention. In spite of the previous comment, the food was fairly quick to arrive at the table. My husband and daughter had both ordered the saien soba (fried tofu, vegetables + noodles in soup) and their bowls were massive! I'd ordered yasai wagamama pad-thai which is egg-fried rice noodles in a tamarind sauce with fried tofu, egg, beansprouts, leeks, chinese chives, spring onions, garlic, ginger, mint and chillies. garnished with coriander cress, fried shallots, peanuts and lime. It didn't look very much on the plate but was very filling. We'd just started eating when the manager brought over a bowl of edamame for us that he advised the chef had prepared one too many and thought we might like them. Little did he know that edamame is a particular favourite of ours and something we normally order at Giraffe! They were just salted and lacked that extra kick that the Giraffe ones have but we added some soy and chilli sauces - delicious! Hadn't intended having dessert but I couldn't resist the date and orange pancakes and my husband had the sweet ginger and apple gyoza - deep-fried apple + ginger dumplings. It was a lovely meal, my husband even came away saying we must definitely go back to a Wagamamas soon and pleased when we told him there's one in our local shoping centre! No, we didn't get charged for the edamame (you never know) and even though we had desserts it wasn't an expensive evening. Green tea is provided on the house and you just keep asking for top ups so there's no need to spend a fortune having a hot drink or one of their range of juices. The one downside was the echo effect because the walls were tiled. It was rather noisy at the start of the evening. Although they were busy and we had felt a bit ignored to start with, the service was very good such that my husband, one who doesn't normally tip, made a point of including a tip when he paid! read more

I was visiting a couple of friends in London and they took me here on one of my first nights in town. I was in the area for work, and to be honest, a Wagamama pretty much always sounds good. This one isn't too huge and is in a nice place, near Borough Market and Bankside. Service was fine, if a bit slow. Food was the same as ever. The sun coming in through the huge windows was a bit of an issue. It wasn't a hot day but it was a bit greenhouse-like inside. So yep, 3 stars, a-okay. I wouldn't come here especially, and it was only because I was in that dead zone time of 3.30pm, having not had lunch, too hungry to wait till dinner, that made this an ideal choice for the area.
