    Pork belly ramen

Just ok. This is a fusion chain restaurant. The ramen is just ok. Good to have free Macha green te.

I remember watching a video about David Chang where he raved about how much he loves this chain. I didn't really plan to eat here on my last night in London but my mom was starving after a brutal shopping day on Bond Street and just happened to walk past this wagamama. It was busy and there was practically a line out of the door so I figured the food must be pretty good if people are willing to line up for this. After waiting an excruciating 45 minutes to finally snag a communal table we spared no time and ordered almost immediately. We ordered several dishes to share and I would say every dish was tasty except for the yaki udon. It's was just really bland which made it all texture with no taste. I wanted to eat something light so I ordered the glass noodle salad with chicken. It actually turned out to be a lot better than I had expected...the dressing was light and on the sweeter side yet still very refreshing. The highlight was a squid ink pasta dish. I can't seem to find the name of the dish on the website so I believe it was a seasonal dish that is not longer available. Such a shame because it was probably one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had, no joke. It was light but also satisfying. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the fish was so fresh! It was a flaky fish so I think it might've cod but I don't know for sure. If they every bring this pasta dish back, I'll literally eat here every week! There are also a lot of complaints about food arriving at different times. I understand that when you dine at western establishments it customary to bring out the appetizers before mains and so on but it's not like that with most Asian cultures. Food is the freshest right off the wok and won't taste as good if you let it sit for a few minutes while the chefs finish cooking the rest of your table's food, that's why it's served sporadically. Wagamama is an exceptional fuss free dining option so I'm genuinely shocked at the number lackluster reviews this place has!

#30 beef brisket ramen with extra order of beef brisket!

The food is fast. The restaurant is clean. The food is mediocre. It works fine for a Quick lunch during the week. The menu is quite extensive and you can really get lost finding what you want. It is relatively inexpensive especially for a city like London. This wouldn't be my first choice for Asian cuisine unless your are short on time or want a place that serves a bit of everything Asian but a master of non.

Wagamama is A-OK. It's a good take-away option. It's nothing special. To all you silly people that compare it to your best ramen in Tokyo, stop being silly. You're silly. I'll stop hating on other reviewers now. Anyway, this place isn't bad at all, but as I said, nothing special. The edamame and veggie pad thai is pretty good, and the veggie ramen is ok, could use a little more flavor- but couldn't most veggie ramen? Anyway, I still would like to try their curries. Order Wagamama to go and take it home and watch a movie. Happy day.

You should go to Wagamama if: - you are hungry and want something quick to eat - a hot bowl of cheap ramen without leaving your neighbourhood (or borough?) It's a big chain You shouldn't go to Wagamama if: - you want authentic Asian food - you are a Ramen snob - you want to have a quiet meal (it's very loud) That's my opinion about Wagamama. P.S: The seaweed salad was delightful, the tea stained egg was terrible, and the green tea is free.

The place was quite busy, and interestingly, the same person taking orders was also cooking. It's a very small setup--definitely not meant for dining in. The vibe is more like "grab your food and head out." We ordered chicken egg fried rice and chicken chow mein. Watching the food being cooked right in front of us was fascinating--quick, high heat, and full of action. Once we got our order, we sat outside to eat. The first thing I noticed was that the food was quite oily. More disappointing, though, was that I couldn't find any chicken in my fried rice--even though I had paid extra for it. I went back, showed them, and asked if chicken had been added. They bluntly said "yes" and didn't bother to check further, which was frustrating That said, the food itself tasted good overall. It's just that the oiliness and the lack of proper service took away from the experience. I wouldn't say I won't visit again--it feels more like an off day--but I was definitely expecting better service.

I ordered the Chicken Katsu over brown rice with Szechuan sauce. It wasn't too spicy and had a good portion of protein. It took about 10 minutes to wait for food. Afternoon Tea @ The Connaught…read more As part of birthday celebrations, I booked the reservation (highly recommended) at least a week ahead. Arriving, I was thoroughly pleased to have dined on the terrace, with its vibrant stained glass in the wonderful London sunshine! (Sunshine, rare... right?) :) Curated by Michelin Chef Jean Georges Vongerichten, the experience, of course, includes finger sandwiches, scones and sweet treats. The setting is polished, the staff - courteous & eager to assist with the myriad of selections, tailoring to one's preferences and/or willingness to explore outside of the norm. Starting with champagne of your choosing, the amuse bouche follows shortly thereafter. Following that, one is encouraged to try as many teas as possible, several being sourced from Southeast Asia, amongst the British standards. The finger sandwiches were surprising in flavor vibrant, save for the standard cucumber sandwich - being quite bland as it was. The teas I savoured were most delicate and not overpowering. Promptly, the tea tower arrived with scones and playful sweets. The scones, fresh and warm, were served with clotted cream, apricot and strawberry spreads. Imho, the strawberry could easily be replaced by a more unique flavor - boysenberry, pumpkin, gooseberry - anything other than what we can find in our local grocer. If Chef is going for a singular experience, this is a great talking point. But the two flavors served, didn't take away from afternoon tea, either. On to the sweet delights: Full disclosure, I wanted unique presentation, and these served. Of all the deserts, only one fell flat. The varied in flavor intensity and texture, making each new one a surprise for the palate. I was surprised at the manner of dress, as some dined in jeans, though most dressed for the occasion. Nevertheless, I would definitely recommend. BON APPÉTIT

'Asta' (as I like to simply call it) - I have no idea of the '3' moniker, or indeed where the first…read moretwo went - is as genuine a Japanese canteen as you'll find in London. I was lucky enough to, along with a colleague, be taken here on several occasions for a quick lunch by a client (indicative of how welcoming the Japanese are!) By 'genuine' I mean no dumbed-down menus, no super-slick interiors to detract from potentially average food, and no gimmicks of any kind. The place is staffed and run by Japanese nationals as any self-respecting Japanese restaurant should be - and perhaps more importantly, frequented by them regularly, too. Service is smiling and attentive and no more that it needs to be. The food is inexpensive (~£6-8 for a bento, £7-11 for ramen, udon or donburi) and so tasty. On my most recent trip I had beef ramen with tan tan (sesame paste) soup base, and my brother had salmon teriyaki on brown rice. Both dishes had generous proportions of meat/fish, and the donburi came with a side salad and pickles. The unagi (eel) is also lovely, and the place does an extensive line in pick-your-soup base noodle bowl dishes where you have the option of shoyu, miso, and sesame as mentioned above, among others. I can't speak for the takeaway bento, but they looked pretty solid and of a decent quality. Drinks come in the familiar (Coke etc) and the more, um, 'traditional' - aloe vera juice, Pocari, cold bottled green and black teas and others. This place is rather hidden away on the fringes of the City, behind Aldgate station on the Petticoat Lane side. In many ways it's a great location as it's very much a local haunt, and in others a little frustrating as even if you're working in the City it can be a fair walk to get there and back! My advice would also be to get there early (between midday and half-past) to ensure a seat, as well as before some of the more popular items on the menu disappear. In brief summary, I couldn't really recommend this place enough if you're in the area. You'll get multi-kudos from any friends Nippon friends (or appreciators of their incredible cuisine) and have a lunch to beat the hell out of an uninspired sandwich / soft-drink combo whilst spending a similarly scant amount of your hard-earned cash. As your fellow diners would say: "itedakimas!"
