We also tried the cornbread which was perfect, moist, slightly sweet and yummy. The brisket was pretty nice, you can order it moist or lean. The sausage was a nice consistency and nice taste. The cream corn was nicer than I remember cream corn, the okra was. Crisp and tasty, the macaroni and cheese was creamy with a subtle taste. I would prefer a stronger taste and a bit less creamy...but still good. The baked beans were pretty perfect. Great flavor and consistency. We interacted with three staff members and all were very nice, friendly and helpful. This is a recommended restaurant to visit.

Killen's never disappoints…read more Their beef ribs were just short of amazing. Juicy, succulent, tender. For a giant piece of meat on the bone, they worked wonders. You can ask to see the piece of rib before they cut it for you and they will happily oblige (patrons behind you might not be so thrilled with that move, but they'll live). Sides were excellent as were the mashed potatoes with white gravy on the side, green beans that were just tender enough, but also a bit crunchy. Perfect. They were seasoned with pork, so if that's not your thing, you might want to skip it. We also ordered their shareable onion rings, easily enough for three people that were huge, hot, and crispy. Let's get this out of the way, some of their prices are a little up there, but if you're anything like me, and don't frequent BBQ places often, it's a rare but enjoyable treat. Sometimes you have to splurge and live a little. Also, they have their regular sauce on tables, but you now have to ask the cashier for their sublime coffee BBQ sauce. Don't be shy, ask. It's worth it. Oh, pro tip: If you want beef ribs, the 'plate' is actually cheaper and a better deal than 'by the pound', so save a little money and get two sides.

I arrived around 5:35 PM, about 25 minutes before closing, and ordered 1/2 lb of brisket and 1/2 lb of ribs. The brisket was $17, and unfortunately it was extremely greasy and so overcooked that the meat had become mushy. It still had good flavor, but the texture was nothing like the brisket I've normally gotten here. Judging by what I received, it felt like I may have gotten what was left at the end of the day. The ribs were $12, and my "1/2 lb" consisted of two individual ribs. They tasted good, but they weren't nearly as tender as I've had here before. I paid about $29 just for the meat, and for that price I expected much better quality and portioning. I understand that I came close to closing time, but I still paid full price and should receive the same quality of food as any other customer. If the brisket is past its best or there isn't enough left to make a proper order, I'd rather be told that so I can order something else. I'm not writing the place off because they've been good to me many times before. But this particular order was definitely not up to their usual standard, and the pictures speak for themselves.

When I walked in, the place was clean and the aroma of BBQ was smelling really good in the air. The decor was very nice and the owner was even nicer and very welcoming. I went in there only looking for ribs because I have found that a really good rib is hard to find, however, the ribs here were very tasty, a little pricey, but very good. I always say that I don't mind paying extra when the food is as good as the money spent for it. Now, let me tell you that I only purchased a pound of ribs and a quart of Mac and cheese and the M&C was also good. I believe that the young man helping behind the counter was the owner's son so that tells me that the business is family owned, can't go wrong with that. The other sides looked delicious as well but I was not really that hungry for other dishes. I will go back and try the other items on the menu at another time. Now that I know where it is, it will be easy peasy to get there again. Once again, I forgot to take a picture of the food but I will when I go back. I had brisket, pork ribs, and jalapeno sausage and it was very good. I tend to like it a little smokier, but this was fine. Brisket was tender, ribs fell off of the bone, and sausage was sliced and crispy around the edges. Good sauces at the table as well. And, it's adjacent to a meat market and store. My wife noted that their ground beef was a better price than local big grocery stores. They also have a large frozen cooler with all sorts of goodies including Cajun. We are going back.

I was very disappointed with the food during my recent visit. This place used to be really good,…read morewhich is why this experience was so surprising. I'm not sure if there are new owners or if something has changed, but the quality has definitely gone downhill. My husband and I ordered the ribs, and they were extremely hard and dry. They didn't taste fresh at all--it honestly seemed like they may have been from the day before. For something that should be tender and flavorful, this was a big letdown. When I brought this to their attention, the staff offered to bring more ribs, but I didn't feel comfortable accepting the same item again given the quality. I would have appreciated a different solution, such as offering an alternative dish or adjusting the bill. We ended up paying $42.54, which feels far too expensive for the quality of food we received. Overall, this experience was very disappointing, especially compared to how good this place used to be. I hope they can improve their food quality and consistency.

Potato salad is a bit loose (not quite runny) with a nice mustard flavor (not overpowering). Coleslaw is very good (mayo dressing, but not too much - just enough to moisten the cabbage without being soupy - doesn't leave a puddle on the plate). The sliced brisket has good flavor, but needs a little more time in the pit for just a bit more tenderness. The ribs are great - perfectly tender (nice bite without falling off the bone) and a slightly sweet rub. Skip the sauce. The meat is good and doesn't need it. The sauce is sweet and smoky and will overpower the meat. Or - be weird like me and mix a little in your potato salad. It's good for that. Maybe get a few pickles, onions, or jalapeños from the condiment bar to eat with your brisket, but don't ruin it with the sauce. Just enjoy good, slightly smoky meat.
