Yady is nothing short of a miracle worker with alterations! My wedding dress had been with (who I thought was) a very reputable tailor for over two months after taking my measurements. When I finally picked it up, it fit me very poorly. I was totally panicking and unsure of what to do with less than a month until the big day. I took it to Yady as a last resort, knowing she most likely wouldn't be able to fit me in. She totally could have turned me away seeing as it's basically the height of wedding season and I was giving her three weeks. Not only did she accommodate me, she was so friendly and reassuring about it, AND she finished the dress in 2 weeks so that we had a few buffer days to make final tweaks and get the dress perfect. Yadi did not owe me that kind of service whatsoever! I was blown away at her customer service. This was a tall order for a last minute request- NOT a simple hem job. The top of my dress basically had to be completely reconstructed. She totally saved my dress and restored my excitement about the wedding in general. Her prices were also very fair for what she had to do on the timeline at hand. I couldn't recommend her enough! read more

i ripped my jeans while moving into UVA and instead of freaking the freak out, Yady's alterations said they could fix the MASSIVE RIP in my cutsie pants. AND they got it done before my parents flew out the next day, even though we dropped it off 20 minutes before closing. I am so grateful I am at peace now. Beautiful work, can barely see it read more

Excellent work! Always professional. I appreciate their service and willingness to accommodate specific time needs and special requests.

I can't recommend Yady's enough! A few weeks ago, I was in a tough spot & she came to my rescue. For context, I was getting married and had been super lazy about trying on my tuxedo rental. I kept telling my fiancée (now wife) that "these rentals always fit great, so I'm not worried." Famous last words. About ~5 days before my wedding, I tried on the rental. This time around, the pants were (of course) way too baggy. They were at least ~4 inches too long. I looked absurd. That left me scrambling. There wasn't enough time to go back & forth with the rental company to get another set of pants. I went to Yady's, explained the situation/urgency, and she was happy to help! In less than ~48 hours, she knocked out the alterations and had the pants ready for pick up before we left for our wedding weekend. They also looked amazing and totally transformed my look! read more

Was in wedding panic mode when I walked into this shop 3 weeks before my wedding. Yady's blew me away. She calmed me down and hooked me up. I came back the week before my wedding and my dress fit like a glove. She is excellent and her pricing is very reasonable. Highly recommend! read more

Yady's Alterations is an amazing place. Warning, it is small and she always has plenty of work but she is extremely nice, welcoming, accommodating, and beyond that, she runs a very professional, high-quality, exception attention to detail service. She is honest and will give you advice but if you truly want something else, she will do it. Here is my rule of thumb, I have been to several places for alterations, so either I start off with Yady's and I am happy or I bring the messed up article to Yady to fix and then I am happy. NOTICE: She opens at 10am on Saturday, Google and others have it at 9 but it is really 10. She DOES NOT take credit cards so it is cash or check only. read more

I went to this place on a whim after driving by it a million times. I've had two dresses and a pair of pants hemmed here and all fit perfectly! One of the dresses needed some additional alterations and Parvin (the woman who took care of me) was able to handle no problem. I said I needed the dresses back in a week and a half, and she got them done in a week. Fast work and fair prices, I'll definitely be back! read more

Yady is the tailor you're looking for. She has worked on several pieces for me that range in terms of fabric and cut, and the quality of her work is excellent whether it's casual clothing or a suit. On business wear in particular, she has helped me figure out which pieces do and do not need alterations (which is a sign of real integrity to me since she could make more money by altering everything). She can get the work done quickly if that's what you need, and the prices are very fair. Note that she only accepts cash and checks. Truly, I have no complaints after giving her business for a few years, and I would recommend her without reservation. read more

This review is long overdue! Cannot recommend this shop more. Yady is an absolute angel! She not only altered my wedding dress but totally transformed it! She kindly and patiently sewed hundreds of sparkles and sequins on the dress which really brought it to life. I received so many compliments on the dress and it fit me perfectly. She worked tirelessly on it and took such great care, and I will be forever thankful. I will continue to come back for all my altering needs! read more

I brought in a jumpsuit near Halloween that needed altering for a weekend event. The kind owner assured me that they could have it done on time and they did! The jumpsuit fits perfectly now and the work was reasonably priced. I am so happy to have a quality tailor in town for all my alteration needs! read more

I came in for dress measurements and she was very helpful and kind. She gave me extra measurements just in case I needed more info than what I originally asked. Updated review: I went to Yady for an alteration on a dress that was multilayered and huge on me. She did a perfect, quality job with a quick turnaround at a very reasonable price. I would recommend Yady to anyone! read more

Located in an unassuming building off Avon St, Yady's Alterations can easily be missed, but it is the hidden gem of tailors in Charlottesville. I brought my wedding dress that was wayyy too big on me and she worked her magic--hemming the bottom, taking in the top, adding a bustle, amongst other things--until it fit me like a glove. Prices are a little high but well worth it for the quality. Keep in mind that she only accepts cash or checks! I will definitely be back for all my tailoring needs. read more

I've gotten three pairs of pants altered at Yady's - They were way too big so I had them all taken in at the waist, which I know is kind of complicated to do. All three pairs look AMAZING! You can't even tell that they've had work done to them, and they fit perfectly. Super friendly, great service, fair prices. Take your clothes here! read more

I've been here many times, and I've always left a happy customer. Nothing is too complicated or too small a job for this wonderful couple. I have leaned there isn't anything she can't do. sometimes I bring in vintage pieces in and ask for a near miracle, and somehow she makes it happen. I love her work and she is so patient and pleasant to work with, I will never go anywhere else; why would I if I've already found perfection. read more

They do a great job on military uniforms. I have brought them a mess dress jacket and the heavy leather aviator jacket for changes in rank and they knew exactly what to do. I don't know how their prices compare to other places but they are reliable and usually finish the alterations ahead if schedule. read more

I needed a bridesmaid dress hemmed and taken in on the sides. Yady did an excellent job. She was very kind and helpful. I would go back to her again. read more

This woman worked an absolute miracle! I bought my wedding dress when 3 months pregnant, realized 1 month to the wedding that 3 months postpartum was not enough time to get back to that size and she somehow let my dress out 2+ sizes without detracting from the dresses beauty! She did it for an extremely reasonable price in a very quick time frame and even had communicated options she could offer in case letting it out wouldn't be enough. One hundred percent recommend. read more

I love this place! The first time I came here I had found a cheap purse and wanted to turn it into a puppy bag. They took the purse and she created, completely from scratch, a waterproof insert for it. I've had it for years now. My dogs love it. I'm also a very short person, so I go here for just about all my clothes to have them altered. She does great. My daughter has a beloved toy that she ripped a hole in. I didn't want to fix it myself, I'm not very good or efficient with a needle and my fixes tend not to last long, as this toy is used daily I took it to Yady, she had the toy ready to go in record time. My daughter didn't have time to miss her prescious unicorn. Completely recommend her for all your needs. read more

Ruined my clothes by making them the wrong size. My clothes are unwearable after going to Yadys

I had a company logo pull over fleece sweater that I wanted converted to zip up. One other place said it couldn't be reasonably done. Yady did a fantastic job and it looks like it was made that way originally. read more

I took my wedding dress here to be repaired after another "seamstress" ruined the hem and did a horrible job with a basic bustle. The wedding was 3 weeks away and I was panicked! As soon as I got there she immediately put me at ease. Seriously. I just sensed that she knew how to fix things and I felt better! She looked at the dress and was able to clearly see where the other person had done crappy work. I did have to order polyester horsehair braid as she didn't have any and neither JoAnn's or Michael's has that size, but was able to get next day shipping from amazon. She completely re-did the ENTIRE hem with the new polyester horsehair braid, and she created a new bustle. She completed the dress within a few days of starting it, and before the original quoted completion date. The price was completely reasonable as well, but I insisted on paying more than the original quoted price as she did much more work than we thought would be needed. She saved my wedding dress and my sanity! read more

I bought an oversized sports jacket about five years ago and then completely forgot about it. I discovered it in my closet before an event and was swimming in it. I brought the jacket to Yady's and she pulled in the waist and sleeves for me. She was very friendly and professional. She offered to have it done the next day (I didn't need it done that quickly and she had it done the following week instead). I'd definitely come back here again. It's worth noting that she runs a cash only operation. read more

She's been fixing my gear for years. Everything from ski straps to replacement zippers, to hemming pants for length and it all looks great. Always get's an extra touch, great prices. I always go to Yady. read more

Not really sure why this place gets bad reviews. I've been a customer twice. First time, she sewed up an old backpack for me -- good as new. Second time, she fixed a couple of winter coats that needed some tailoring. Each time she was courteous, professional, and had the work done within a day or two and for very little money. It's good to have a reliable tailor in town and I wonder if the reviews here were harsh for no good reason. read more

Yady is a master and never disappoints. She's excellent, professional, and prompt. She will tailor your garments to a contemporary styling, and extend them past the fashion-based expiration date. I recommend her highly and without reservation--for work in fabric and leather, both. read more

This is the best alteration place I have been to by far. The prices are more than reasonable, she does an excellent job, and the turn around is quick. On top of all that, Yady is a pleasure to talk with. I've had a bridesmaid dress, pants, and coat altered there all well done. I was even able to have the zippers replaced on a pair of boots. Could not be happier with how my items have tuned out! read more

I needed the sleeves adjusted on a new leather jacket. After they assisted me with measurements and gave me the total, very fair cost for the work, I had my jacket back in 2 business days. I'm very happy with the work and will definitely be going back to them in the future! read more

I needed major alterations done on my wedding dress and I could not find a decent place in Charlottesville. All the alteration places were way too expensive, had bad reviews, or were just plain rude when I called them. I discovered Yady's and she was the only one online with no bad reviews so I gave it a shot.... She did an EXCELLENT job. She had to cut my dress in half, put it back together properly, take it in, and reconstruct the back. She did all that and I had it back in a week. She charged me a very low fee, but I gave her a nice tip because I was so impressed. I definitely recommend Yady's! read more

I would not recommend wasting your money. I took my wedding dress here and not only did she do the complete opposite of what I asked, she argued with me when I tried to explain again to get it fixed. Now I am out the money spent on her and I have to get another seamstress to fix my dress. The shop does bad business. read more

Yady's alterations is a great family run business. We've had lots of stuff altered and repaired there and have always been impressed with their prices. The really great work they did for us were the matching "Princess" dresses for my daughters. The girls picked some fabric and the folks at Yady's turned it into super pretty dresses. read more

Yady and Parvin have always done right by me, with fair prices and good turn-around time. I have had several skirts and tops altered-- no wedding dresses or leather jackets, but one skirt was silk with a lining and she had to remove the waistband, tuck it all in, and re-attach, and it looked very nice. read more

She did a great job with an elaborate bridesmaid dress!

I took an expensive leather jacket here for a simple alteration, having the sleeves shortened. The woman told me it would look just like the original cuff, so I took my chance and left it with her. When I picked it up, I noticed that the stitching was wavy, and one of the cuffs has holes in the leather because she stitched it then pulled out the thread to do it again. None of these issues were mentioned when I picked it up. I decided against arguing about it because I knew it would go no where. This is likely a common experience for most alteration shops in Charlottesville. I have about 30 items that need to be altered. I will just look for a real tailor in Washington D.C. that understands quality work and has respect for people's belongings. read more

Yady's saved my wedding big time. 2 of my groomsmen live in other countries and could not try their suits on until 2 days before the wedding. I would recommend their craftsmanship and timeliness to anyone! read more
