This should be 0 stars. They ruined my wool comforter. It was dry clean only (and I paid for dry cleaning) and they admitted to wet washing it. If I wanted it machine washed, I would have done it myself. It shrunk and the wool inside has felted so it feels somewhat hard. I was told by the person I bought it from that it will retain less body heat and will not absorb body moisture now. They only offered me $100, when it will cost over $400 to replace. They said it's old it's not worth that much. It's 7 years old and google says comforters should be replaced every 15-25 years. I refused the offer for $100 and the guy told me to take them to court. Then he gave me a hard time about returning the comforter to me, he was trying to keep it. Avoid! read more

They provide good regular dry cleaning service and the location is very convenient in the Rio Hill Shopping Center. Their turn-around time is pretty slow - I recently dropped three items off on a Monday morning and they were not ready until Friday after 3pm. I would give negative stars if I could. I have used this cleaner since moving to Charlottesville. I trusted them to alter my beautiful wedding dress. They charged me over 300$ and sneakily tied it double bagged it and sent me home with it. Once home I opened it to see they had not altered and reattached the lace, but cut it with scissors and through all the lace embroidery. Yes I said cut it with scissors! I went right back up there and asked for a refund crying as my wedding was in a week and they destroyed my dress. They didn't refund it and just said oh we can work to piece it back together. Are you kidding me? I never let them touch it again and spent a ton of money to have it repaired. Run from this fraudulent shady business!! read more

I really hate to have to write this. I've use this dry cleaner for years and they've always done a great job for me. Last night my husband pulled a shirt out of his closet that was still in the wrapping from the cleaners. It had been in there all winter because it was a summer shirt. He put it on and I noticed the back had rips in it. It was a new shirt when we took it to the cleaners and the packaging wrapping the shirt was not torn. This happened at the cleaners. I went this morning with a very good attitude. All I wanted was reimbursement for the shirt. I know things can happen, and I was very nice... In the beginning. The man came to the counter and I showed him the shirt, he said they never would've let this out of the store in this condition. I said well obviously accidents happen and it got released to me. He said it's been six months. I said it's been winter and my husband hasn't worn it, but it was in the closet covered the entire time. He said this happened in my closet and refused to help me. I gave him an opportunity saying that I wanted to continue doing business with him, but that if he wouldn't make this, right, I couldn't. I do not write this review hastily as I don't like to leave bad reviews for a business. But he would not work with me at all. I had the receipt for exactly how much I paid for the shirt. It wasn't that much.$37.50 would've made this square, and I would've continued using their business gladly. Best dry cleaners in cville! We have been going here a couple years and are always getting stuff dry cleaned, and RHC always does a good job and at an affordable price. We've even done some specialty things like blankets and down jackets without any issues. And she's had small rips or holes replaced quite a few times. Wow! This place was fast! I took in 2 suits, a few dress shirts, and a faux fur vest. I expected it to take a week but they turned it around in 24 hours. The lady who helped me was nice and thorough when I asked about the vest. She said it might have taken longer due to the material but they managed to take care of it by end of business the next day. The clothes came back nicely placed on the hangers and thoroughly cleaned. We definitely appreciated the attention to detail and the quality of the dry clean for each of the items. The location of the store was also conveniently located in the Rio Hill Shopping center between Plato's Closet and TJ Maxx. This place gets my vote. read more

I use this dry cleaner all the time but today when I went in to pick up 2 items I was charged $3.00 more than the receipt indicated. They told me the mistake was caused by the attendant mistaking my women's shirt for a men's. Wow, it costs $3.00 more for a woman's shirt! Plus , instead of charging me what was on my receipt as I expected they charged me the larger fee. Seems like a poor business practice. read more

Thieves! I took my nice suits here for a simple dry cleaning. When I picked them up they had replaced my very expensive suit hangars for the cheapest plastic wire hangars you can find. When I asked them, "Where are my hangars?" They replied, "Oh we don't keep the hangars" with a suspicious look on their faces. My hangars were worth more than their dry cleaning services. They should have given me my suits back free of charge but instead they just shrugged their shoulders. I thought everyone knew you never put a suit jacket on a wire hangar. Guess I was wrong. I have used Rio Hill Cleaners for many many years now. I always come to them, and they do a great job with my shirts, pants and dry cleaning. They repair missing buttons too. We have also had them do hemming and new zippers. They do excellent work, but it is a bit expensive to get new zippers (I have done no comparison shopping). When you find a good dry cleaner it is like finding a good auto mechanic... Stick with them and try not to move out of town. These folk have always been pleasant, efficient and excellent. In doing business with them for maybe a decade or so, I have not once been disappointed. I have never tried to get a wedding dress cleaned though. They fit me in the Tuesday after Christmas to press my suit for me as I had an interview in town and it had been wrinkled and accumulated some dog hair. Three other places in town told me they couldn't help me. I called around 9 AM, dropped it off by 10, picked it up by 11. This was not for actual dry cleaning, mind you, but a lot of places won't just press a suit for you either. Price was fair. I would definitely go back. We had a really great experience with this dry cleaner. It's obvious they are busy because there aren't many cleaners in the Central VA region. We had to take our suits to them for cleaning at the last minute. Everything was delivered on time as promised and my white pants came out sparkling! Friendly ladies working there and it's organized. Ladies beware. I took my cotton button down shirts in to be washed & pressed, and was given a receipt for $2.05 per shirt. I took a dress here to be altered after reading some terrible reviews of where I was previously going to take it. They did a great job, great customer service, the dress was completed when they said it would be, and they were really good at communicating what they would do and by when. The price was less than I expected to pay after having gotten bridesmaid dresses altered at other places in the past - only $32 and they had to take in a few straps on the back by hand. We have been taking our daughters' formal dresses to Rio Hill Cleaners for alterations for the past 6 years. They have done beautiful work on long and short dresses with sequins, beading, lace, netting, and layers of fabric. We have never been disappointed. I would highly recommend them for alterations!! This place was absolutely awful. They literally butchered my wedding dress. They say the specialize in wedding dresses but left me with rips and pulls all over one the busts, dirt in several places, and strings hanging off the bottom where she took it up. Regardless of that, the dress still didn't even fit the way we discussed when I went in. This is a designer wedding dress and she even removed the tags from the inside. If she couldn't have done it, she should have said so and at least I wouldn't be left with a file of fabric no one will ever want. She had me in tears, lucky my mom was there to demand they credit back my card. They were reluctant with her saying she "spent four hours on it." Yea, four hours ruining my wedding dress. No apology, no nothing. They did finally credit my card and we left. Not sure what I'm going to do now, but I sure am never going back there for anything. I used to use this cleaner exclusively, but I will never use them again after a recent experience. They pressed the pleats out of a Jessica Simpson pleated dress, and then denied that they pressed them out, and said the cleaning process did it. They were not going to reimburse me for the dress until they made a complaint to the Jessica Simpson company. I vetoed this idea and asked to be reimbursed immediately. When I came in to pick up the check, the owner proudly presented me with a replacement dress and informed me that she had taken the ruined one to Belk and got Belk to exchange it for a new one!! I did not purchase the dress at Belk originally, which she knew (I had let her know I bought it online, and Belk just happened to carry the same dress), but still took the dress SHE ruined to Belk, and tricked them into giving her a new one, just so that she wouldn't have to pay me for HER mistake, and let Belk take the hit for something they had nothing to do with!!!
