I called the owner Todd in a panic because the wedding dress shop in Norfolk where I bought my wedding dress suddenly folded and, although I was grateful to get my dress at all (some brides were not so lucky), I got it a week late and had only 9 days to get it cleaned before my wedding. All other cleaners from Norfolk to Charlottesville insisted that it would take 2 weeks to clean a wedding dress, but Todd was kind enough to take my dress and clean it before the wedding. Todd spent a lot of time with me patiently explaining the process, what services would be provided, and how I should care for my dress from the time I pick it up to the time I put it on to walk down the aisle. He even personally detached the beaded belt because it would have melted during in the dry cleaning process. The Norfolk dress shop people never mentioned that and just told me to have it dry cleaned. Todd even arranged for Tanya Ann at the shop to reattach the belt for me once it's cleaned. I can't tell you how relieved I am that I will have a clean dress for my wedding and how grateful I am to Todd for taking care of me. Now that I've made the move to Charlottesville to be with my soon-to-be husband, I will definitely be a loyal customer! read more

Todd was unbelievable in a crisis moment with moment with my daughter's wedding dress. I am sold for doing all my business with them!

This is a reliable cleaner for basic needs like steaming an item or pressing a shirt. They are not great at getting stains out and sweaters come back with lots of fabric pills. Prices are a little high, but comparable to others around town. The hours are great, especially being open almost all day Saturday. Blouse - $6.25 Sweater - $8.50 Skirt - $6.25 Pants - $5.85 Dress - $12.50 Fair warning - they staple the number tags to the clothes. That staple often goes through tag and pierces the fabric. I've had a silk top ripped at the neck where it was stapled. read more

The girl working the front desk is incompetent and rude. She needs an education in customer service. She doesn't know how to answer questions and doesn't know anything about the services the company offers. All she says is "I don't know nothing" over and over again. They are also incredibly disorganized. read more

As others have mentioned, the "customer service" here really is atrocious. They put out ZERO effort to even be friendly. The first time I just chalked it up to them having a bad day. Since the next time was even worse, I just took my clothes and left. On a related note, if you do decide to take a chance on this place, you better not be in a hurry. I was dropping off shirts to be dry cleaned and they said it would take 7 days. Thanks, but no thanks. read more

I have always been pleased with their service and care they take for our clothes. I highly recommend this dry cleaner.

As others have mentioned, this place puts no effort into even pretending to be nice. I've gone here 3 times, and after the last time I will not return. The man whom I assume owns the place couldn't be anymore distant and downright mean at times. The first time I went was based on the hours of operation I found online. When I arrived the doors were locked but I soon saw someone enter from another door. I called and was told they weren't opened. I explained I was sitting in from of the business based on their online hours of operation. He got nasty with me but told me to come inside. I did, and he basically threw a temper tantrum letting me know he has no control over what his business's online profile states. Second time, two women were there, both of which ignored me completely until the same man came over, and again, NO CUSTOMER SERVICE demeanor at all. He grabbed his pen and pad, asked name, phone, starch?, hangers?, gave me my ticket and told me it would be over a week. Third time, I brought in the exact same things, 1 suit and 12 shirts (actually two less than the previous time) and my bill was almost $10 more expensive. After questioning the price, he flew into a rage and told me he'll refund the entire amount and that I was wrong and prices haven't changed in a decade. Again, another temper tantrum. You cannot get shirts back in 2-3 days, it just isn't going to happen. You WILL NOT get any attempt at customer service, or even a simple hello, how are you? I've just moved down here from NYC 3 months ago, and I consistently received MUCH BETTER service there than I have here. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! read more

They usually do the job well, but not always. When you point out an error or ask for rework there can be a lot of attitude. I've had buttons broken, shirts ordered not starched returned with starch, blouses returned with new marks on the fabric, and a jacket returned wrinkled. When I pointed out I asked that the shirts be laundered without starch, I was told by the woman at the counter all she can do is mark the ticket; what happens after that isn't her fault. For the price, I'd hoped for better work and maybe a little less snotty. read more

They are very reliable and always on time. I have never had a problem with them getting my items clean.

Highly dependable dry cleaner which provides quality services in a timely manner and at a fair price. The hours support busy schedules and the employees are unfailingly polite and professional. The fact that the C'Ville Police Department and UVA Marching Band rely on the firm's services is evidence of their efficiency and cost effectiveness. read more

Poor experience with this cleaners. I was in Charlottesville for a two-week period during which I had an interview. Dropped off my suit, and pointed out all the stains I needed removed. When I came to pick it up, the same stains were still there. I'm not sure they even did anything with it. I had to point them out again, and wait another several days before I was able to pick it up a second time. I asked if I would be receiving some sort of discount for the fact that I had to return twice because it was not clean the first time and they said no. If I had not been lucky enough to have some extra time, I would have been screwed for my interview with a dirty suit. Overall, don't waste your money or time-- there are several other cleaners in the area. read more

Horrible customer service. If you have to use them in a pinch, don't let them touch that register until you're certain in how much you will pay, because one they enter it in the cash register, they "can't void it" for any reason at all. I had given them quite a few things to clean, had my student ID out and ready at the register, and as she was ringing me up I mentioned my discount. She refused to do anything about it and just said she couldn't fix the price. They were rude and I felt like they pulled a fast one on me. read more

It might sound a little weird to sing the praises of a dry cleaner but this is the best dry cleaner that I have ever been to - and not just in Charlottesville. The ladies who work there are polite, helpful and incredibly professional. I have brought clothing in that I thought was stained beyond repair and they have managed to salvage it. What I love about them is the fact that they look thoroughly at your clothes with you when you drop them off and explain what they may have to do to get some stains out. If it looks like they might have to do additional work that could possible damage the clothing, they ask you to OK the work before you leave so there are no surprises. They have also managed to "fix" some problems and stains caused by other lesser dry cleaners. I have never been so happy with a dry cleaning service and now that we no longer live in Charlottesville, I am sure we'll never find somewhere so good again. read more

Bad experience with this cleaners! When I got my wool coat back, it became much rougher than before and a littler smaller...I feel guilty to my coat for letting it experience such bad thing. And wool is hard to recover TT read more

We started using Carriage Cleaners at the recommendation of others and because of it's good location behind Barracks. The women who work behind of the counter are always friendly and efficient. I most often drop off dress shirts for my fiance, but on other occasions, I have gotten a suit cleaned and also a formal dress steamed. The price to clean shirts is always fair and reasonable, and they do a great job! The price of the formal dress steaming was a little steep, and I'd probably go somewhere else in the future. Overall, we have been satisfied with Carriage Cleaners. read more

We were loyal customers until they destroyed one of my husbands brand new shirts. I brought it back and the manager was EXTREMELY rude. We'll be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Absolutely wonderful customer service! Everything seems like new when it comes back to me and they always seem to be able to remove any stain I manage to get on my clothing. I would recommend them to anyone looking for outstanding service and quality! read more

We arrived from Seattle, Washington to the Charlottesville, VA on Friday late afternoon for a family wedding, early Saturday afternoon. Our clothing arrived wrinkled & in disarray. Called around to cleaners in the area to see if anyone could steam press the clothing so we'd ble respectable for the wedding. Unlike other cleaners in the area, Carriage Cleaners was able to accommodate us, Within 3 hours we were able to pick up our items & look fresh for the wedding. Thank you Carriage Cleaners!! read more

I have used this dry cleaners for years. Not only because they are so convenient, polite, and do a great job, but because they are so involved in the community. It seems like if UVA trusts them with the quick turn around of their band uniforms, they can handle my stuff with ease. Have yet to come across a stain they couldn't handle. read more
