There are actually few choices for self serve wash in Charlottesville. They also will wash for you too! The hotel recommended Hydraulic with them not offering laundry. It was nearby the Hampton Inn Charlottesville India. Parking was adequate, but they did get busy on a Sunday morning and most spaces filled. For rookies when entering you go to the right wall and purchase a wash card. A nice staffer assisted me. Then head over to vending to get detergent, softer and dryer sheets. The business is loaded with equipment which makes it seem small. There are a few tables and stools to sit. Also a few folding tables. The machines are Electrolux and worked great! I washed a sheet for my daughter in just under a hour. No issues. Before departing a customer picked up her laundry washed by staff and he even carried it to her car. That elevated my review. A 3.5 seems perfect, but rounding up with excellent service that was not expected. read more

You have to first get a card of theirs that the machines only take. I kept having to go back and reload not knowing how much it would cost. After spending some of my money and loading clothes , I was seeing the high prices for the wash alone and needing several there was no way I was going to pay their fees. Would not refund money that was put on card and the staff treats you like your stupid instead of providing any customer service. read more

While visiting my daughter we discovered her apt laundry room locked. We opted to use a laundry mat while out grocery shopping. This place was close by. I don't frequent laundry mats so I can't really speak to pricing, but the space was clean. It was fairly busy for a Sunday afternoon. The staff person on hand was super friendly. She explained everything in detail for us newbs to get the most from our experience. She even mentioned that the wash card works in the vending & supply machines. I've been going to this laundromat for the past 3 months. It's always clean, the employees are helpful & kind, and usually there's no trouble with the machines. I especially like to use the two large washers to the left when you walk in the door. You can put 2-3 loads in at once, then transfer it right over to the large driers right next to the two giant washers. I save a lot of money doing laundry this way. Parking isn't bad. As laundromats go this one pretty nice, kept clean and all the machines are in working order. There is a card system that allows you to load a card with funds via cash or debit/credit card. It is convenient but not without some annoyances. 1st you have to pay for the card. 2nd you have to slide your card in and out of the dryer once for each 5 minutes of drying time. 3rd no refunds for unused funds. This seems like somewhat of a side scam for the business as neither the dryer's or the washers are set to an even dollar amount. So, my guess is the owner makes on average .40 to .70 per card. Price wise this is more expensive than other regions I've been to. The smallest washer is $3.19 and the dryers are .28/5 minutes. Typical dryers I've seen are .25/7 minutes. read more

I needed a place to wash our comforters and quilts. I went to two other laundromats, and they we dirty and no one to help. This place is AWESOME. Washers and Dryers of all sizes, and a very helpful woman on the premises. When she wasn't helping customers, she was cleaning, so the place was very clean and tidy. and the cards are so convenient to use rather than coins. I have washed at this location for the longest time... but I won't continue giving me service here. I go in (with my mask on), along with my 2 year old daughter, to wash my our clothes. As I search for an available washer, the RUDE AS USUAL woman working proceeds to tell me that I cannot wash there with my 2 year old daughter (who doesn't quite understand the importance of wearing a mask yet) because she wasn't wearing one. I had no plans of staying inside the establishment while my clothes washed I just wanted to load them in the washer and be on my way out. Definitely wasn't going to leave my 2 yr old daughter in the damn car. How ridiculous! read more

I walk into the laundromat and 7/10 people inside didn't have masks on. Neither did i honestly. But the lady working singled me and my girlfriend out and proceeded to tell us we couldnt wash our clothes without masks. I left and returned with a mask immediately to even more people inside the establishment without masks on, to which the lady at the counter had absolutely nothing to say. Its hypocritical crap like this why no one cares about covid 19. Picking and choosing who follows the rules for whatever reason is unacceptable It is extremely unprofessional to make some people follow the rules and not others, either enforce them 100% or don't say a word. read more

She went in with another customer and started to load the machines. I walked in and was told "WE ARENT OPENED YET". I cant come in but another customer can? You should treat EVERYBODY the same. Excellent quality cleaning my laundry. Would have spent all day one load at a time, only spent 1.5 hours for 5 loads, lots of folding room on tables. Nice lady to help me figure out how it all worked. Will be back if I have more large linens to be cleaned. :) read more

This is a very busy laundromat. But it is clean and there is someone on site to help with issues. You have to buy a card to do laundry here - there is a machine on the wall that you get the initial card and then can add value as needed. It works out be about $4.50 to wash and dry the first time because of the fee for the card. To keep you amused while waiting, there are video games and a vending machine for drinks and snacks. There was also a food truck there in the evening that people seemed to enjoy. read more

So for a one time wash, I washed my clothes there and everything was fine as far as that service goes. But now, I'm stuck with a Laundry Card that I no longer need. There is money on the card, and I can't get a refund for the balance. So essentially they stole my money. read more

This is my first visit here - I have a couple of large blankets I need to wash. The employee here is so nice!! She showed me which machine to use based on size, helped me get my laundromat card, and even helped me get the machine going and gave me some tips on pouring in the detergent. I was a little nervous to come since I hadn't used this laundromat previously but what a great experience. Really appreciate the help and the positive attitude. read more

Been going here for years. Service is great as well as the cleanliness. The attendants are super friendly and knowledgeable about their job. My only issue is the taco truck!! It takes parking from customers who are attempting to wash laundry. The rear end of my vehicle was almost run into due to people waiting on the taco truck. I wish you would accommodate your paying customers as much as those visiting the truck. read more

I recently moved to Cville, last time I used a laundromat I was a in college. I read great reviews about the place and decided to try here first. The facility is clean, the lady managing it was polite and helpful. There are plenty of size choices for laundry machines too. My clothes, bedding, and towels came out very clean and undamaged. I had issues with the dryers. The dryer cycles are either not long enough or the dryers themselves cannot handle larger items very well. I put my towels and bedding in separate loads from my clothing, and even my clothing had to be dried twice. I have up after two tried on my bedding in a different dryer and took my clothing home to air dry around the apartment. Pretty disappointed because the place is pretty pricey, it was about $5.59 for a wash in the large washing machine alone. I spent nearly 20$ there just trying to get 2 weeks worth of laundry done. I would be willing to go back if I were to just take my clothes home to line dry because the place seemed well maintained and the washers were nice, but I don't plan on drying my clothes there again. read more

When I moved to a place with no on-site washer/dryer, I was bummed. But, after visiting hydraulic wash, I prefer the laundromat over my old on-site any day. I can spend an hour here and get awesome, super-clean, super-dry laundry. I used to spend 2-4 hours fighting with my old "high efficiency" (read: ancient dorm style) washer that would slightly dampen my clothes for 50 minutes and dry in no less than 2 cycles. Here, they have a card based system so no more bags of quarters! The hot water is actually hot. The washer takes a normal 20 minutes instead of an hour. Washing is more expensive in charlottesville than other places I've lived (over $2 just for the cold cycle) but I think prices are pretty consistent between laundromats- I don't know why it's so high, maybe water prices or local economics. The dryer, however, is cheap and super efficient. You pay for every 5 minutes, so you can get as much or as little as you want (which is awesome because I can avoid ruining my sweaters and jeans as well as get cotton towels all the way dry). I usually do 20 minutes ($1) and my stuff feels amazing. I think I would keep coming here just for the clean, even if my apartment did have on-site laundry. Hydraulic wash has clean facilities and they have free wifi and TV. The only compliant I have is that the first time I came they had this asinine children's show playing at very high volume (not even noise canceling headphones could drown it out). Kids screaming, show blaring, it was very uncomfortable. But, the second time I came on a Sunday and they had sports on, which was pleasant. read more

Just lost a long time customer!!!!! Brought in 3 loads, use the su655cc washer. Checked every one to see which were available. One was available but 3 had cycles that were finished & the others were in use. Asked the attendant, Brenda, about them she said wait a couple of minutes & did so. Went back to Brenda, she said they have a couple more minutes left. I had to remind her that a couple meant 2. Come to find out the customer who had left her clothes there for at least 15 minutes was in the facility. It sermed as though Brenda didn't want to get up. Brenda go over to the customer & commence to whisper, when they see me they stop, go over to the dryers & whisper... I've had positive dealings & conversations with the attendants & truly love the visits & convenience of the facility. But I'm not going to tolerate bad customer service so I'll spend my coins elsewhere. Searching for a new facility! read more

This place is awesome! My husband works in construction in this town occasionally and he drops his clothes off here because he doesn't have time to do them himself. (They offer a wash and fold service) I've been here visiting and he had 0 clean clothes. The ladies there really helped me out by getting his clothes done in literally a few hours. So nice and let me tell you those clothes are practically spotless. The work my husband does gets his clothes sooo dirty but these ladies get as much dirt and grime out of the clothes as humanly possible. He and I will both continue to use this service. And it's actually pretty cheap considering what they do. (The price varies depending on weight) These ladies take someone else's nasty underwear and filthy clothes and wash them and fold them PERFECTLY. Like I thought my folding was very neat until seeing how these ladies folded the clothes. Also the clothes actually smell so clean and fresh. My bill was just at $20 which included a car hart jacket and a fluffy blanket and all his filthy clothes. I did tip them quite heftily because they work so hard and should be rewarded for being so helpful. I recommend this place but especially the wash and fold service to everyone! read more

I have no idea where these negative reviews are coming from. I have been to many laundromats in Charlottesville and other parts of the state. The facilities here are bright and clean. There is a staff member on site. It is extremely busy at certain times, and quite peaceful at others. There are nice vending machines, magazines, and TV as well as WIFI and tables. There is abundant folding space and laundry carts for moving loads around. It is CLEAN and modern. For anyone who feels that the clientele is "sketchy" I would just submit that most people who wash their linens and clothing at a laundrymat cannot afford a washer and dryer in their home, or do not have space for one. So, be a little kinder in your judgements of others. We are there because it is a business that is pleasant and we deserve to be there just as much as anyone else. We may not dress fancy but most of us are busy, tired, and working hard to keep our families in good care. This is an excellent business to which I will continue to support. read more

Our dryer broke this week so I packed up our laundry and googled a laundromat. I needed to go to Trader Joe's and noticed this was near by so decided to give it a try. It had been years since I had been to a laundromat and quickly realized that I did not know how to use one any longer. I would recommend the owner put up signage to explain with words how to use the equipment. Initially this was frustrating but then I noticed the attendants. I went up to ask for help and they were so friendly. One woman with glasses and brown hair in particular. She showed me how to put money on a card. (I was happy to not have to mess with quarters!) She took me to the washing machines and explained the differences in machines, where to put the different kinds of soap, and how to operate the machine. She waited for me to get my first load started to make sure I didn't have any further questions. Excellent customer service! She made me feel comfortable and I was able to get my clothes washed and dried faster than I would have at home. Thank you! read more
