They even corrected things that werent done right by orig. Builder. No price gouging. They put saftey at top of list. the finishing was done w great care. Checked and doubke checked. Work we had done: a cement landing installed in garage w safety railing, bathroom faucets repaired, shower faucets and valves repaired, walls painted, safety bars installed, toilet replaced, tile repaired, door removed and stored. This company was sent by my insurance to asses and fix the ceiling inside our bedroom & bedroom closet which was damaged from a leaking roof. They came in evaluated the area and were cleared to fix it. I cant say enough good things about them they were really respectfully of our home. They came in and rolled out a covering for the floor so they could come and go without messing up your floor, They hung a huge piece of plastic to keep the other1/2 of the bedroom clean. It took them a day & 1/2 to fix the whole area, they picked up all their trash.and even left the extra paint in case we needed it later. The area they fixed looks so good you cant tell the difference. It looks like nothing ever happened. Perfect result couldn't have asked for anything more. read more

When I needed a simultaneous roof repair and floor replacement due to water damage, my insurance company USAA assigned Yak Construction to my claim. The first thing I can say about them is that their communication was top notch...Not only with the staff member assigned to my case but with the owner himself, who I have come to know quite well through his company's quality service. They communicated with me and kept me informed every step of the way, from the initial estimates and projections until the final day when they came to perform one more inspection and make sure that every little detail had been addressed. I just received a phone call from Yack Construction 2 hours before they were supposed to come out and quote a reconstruction. We had previously gotten quotes from them on a different job but decided to do the simple repair ourselves instead. Yack LITERALLY asked me "what are your intentions here?" My intention is to get a bid from a company that has good customer service, is competitively priced, and does a good repair. The fact that you are questioning my motive for repairing my home is very off-putting as we fully intended to use your company as a bid option for this job. When the master toilet began leaking and I discovered water damage I called Yack. Thankfully, my insurance covered it and Yack was able to come out. They removed my toilet, laminate, baseboard & subflooring, cleaned it up, then replaced it all. It was quick, easy, and I didn't have to worry about anything. We had a roof leak on January 8,9th. Called and had estimator come in on 12th. Since then they took whole 2 months to finish the job and if I didn't call them to remind them time to time, it would have taken longer than that. The people seemed and sounded nice but couple things I want to point out. 1) they charged way more than they said they would for just nailing the baseboard and repainting. They said no more than $100 for a room and charged the insurance company over $300. If the estimator was correct, they should have done the whole 3 rooms on second floor for the price not just one room. 2) they came unannounced at 7:30 in the morning TWICE. who would come unannounced at 7:30 in the morning? Who does that? 3) when they installed the door, it was stuck. They took another whole 2 weeks before I called and see when they were coming. The front desk never know what's going on. I didn't get a call back. 4) when they installed the door, they broke our alarm system piece. They didn't pay for it.We had to pay the alarm company to replace it. The supervisor was nice though. He gave some advice on our toilet issue when he came for final walk thru. Wish they were more responsive and time efficient on getting back to a customer that calls. read more

Here is the timeline which should be all you need to know to NEVER sign a contract with Yack Construction: 8/1/2019: We write $1,000 check to Yack to cover the deductible that was left out by our insurance company for Yack's bill. 8/14/2019: I leave a glowing review for Yack on Yelp 8/29/2019: I have 2 inches of water in my kitchen due to poor tile work in our recently paid for, $23K bathroom upstairs 11/10/2019: my home remains half gutted in both the kitchen and the upstairs master bathroom with ABSOLUTELY ZERO work having been done to fix either area of my home. Yack will tell you when they pitch you to sign their contract that there is a Warranty that comes with their work. And you will even get a signed Warranty print out when you have paid in full, but DO NOT EXPECT THEM TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY WHEN THEIR WORKMANSHIP FAILS. Their Warranty States: "Yack Construction, Inc. expressly warrants for a period of 5 YEARS from the COMPLETION of work that the workmanship and manner of construction provided by Yack Construction, Inc. and shall be performed in a good, workmanlike manner, in accordance with industry trade standards, and in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal statutes, codes, ordinances and regulations. Additionally, Yack Construction, Inc. expressly warrants for a period of one year from the completion of work that all materials, equipment, or other building components FURNISHED by Yack Construction, Inc. will be new, of good quality, and FREE OF DEFECT." That said, and they have refused to lift a finger to repair my home after their garbage subcontractor (Flooring America) failed to install the plastic membrane in our shower prior to tiling it up. Water began leaking from the grout and eventually the grout gave way and now our brand new bathroom is completely gutted again. To make matters worse, the water leaked into our kitchen, ruining a 10x8 foot area of laminate that will require our entire first floor of laminate to be replaced (900 sq/ft). Instead of honoring their warranty, they opted to lay all blame on THEIR subcontractor, and then their subcontractor (Flooring America) decided they would not honor their warranty either and simply pushed it off to their insurance company as a liability claim. If you think a liability claim is fun, you are wrong. It has been over a month of being nickle and dimed in their settlement offers, the first of which was only $10K would not have even covered replacing our floors on the first level. So I have had to fight tooth and nail with them demanding concessions from their part until FINALLY we are offered what should be enough to perform all repairs. I say, SHOULD BE enough because I have been fighting for additional settlement money for the past 2 months based on Yack's estimate for all repairs. Unfortunately, now that the settlement has been agreed upon, Yack and Flooring America have decided to revise their estimate on the upstairs bathroom tile work to take up the ENTIRE settlement so that I don't even have enough money left over to replace the flooring downstairs much less even paint a wall when it is all done. So now I will be having to subcontract out all repairs myself, and have submitted a formal complaint to the Board of Contractors on Yack Construction for their refusal to honor their 5/1 Warranty for their work and the work they furnished via their subcontractors. We will look to sue as well. Do not trust this company, they are of the lowest rung of construction companies, refusing to honor the very warranty that THEY PROVIDED. And when you as the homeowner are down and out, left having to fight with some insurance company all by yourself, you will then have to deal with collusion and extortion from them and their subcontractors as they scandalously inflate their costs so they may profit off of your misery and their very own poor workmanship. You've been warned. Don't do it. read more

The workers showed up on time and were very respectful and hard-working. They took one short break all day and one short lunch break. They didn't even chit-chat with each other while working unless it was work-related. They totally cleaned up after their work and left no trash or a mess at all. I would hire this company again and do recommend them highly. Their manager Efrain Mata was ever diligent about checking the quality of their work. If I could give no stars, I would. I called Yack Construction and set up an appointment to get a quote to have my 2 bathrooms remodeled. Efrain came to give me the quote. From the time he arrived, he acted as if it were a bother that he was there. When we discussed what I wanted, I asked if there were catalogues or showrooms/stores I would be sent to in order to pick out my materials. He told me there were not, that I needed to go to Home Depot or Lowes to do that. This is new to me (I've never remodeled a bathroom before) so I said okay. I then asked again a bit later and he said yes, they have some places to send me, but that they were too expensive and that I needed to just use Home Depot or Lowes. He recommended that I buy all of the products and they would just install. I told him I did not have a way to get them to my house and he reluctantly said that they could pick them up, once purchased. I asked if he would give me measurements for vanities and such and he said yes and left. That was 5 days ago and I have not heard from him. I honestly don't think I ever will. Horrible, horrible customer service. I had another company come yesterday to give me a quote and they were friendly, timely, and actually cared about doing the job. What an experience that was...So, on Thursday 1/5, Effron (Supervisor) come over to my house to check out the work. He too was speechless and took a couple photos. Effron told me he had a new crew with him on site at the moment and wanted to correct the issue. I explained to him I did not want his crew back in my house after the disaster they had already created and would hire another contractor to fix their mess plus the original damage. I again told Effron NO, I DID NOT WANT YACK TO TOUCH MY BATHROOM. I escorted Effron him into the kitchen to find out what I owed for this miss. Effron said that he did not know and would have to speak to his manager about the bill. As I was escorting Effron out of my house, who is standing in my hallway...Mr. Isami Luna, the lead crew member that botched my bathroom. I was so upset because I had told Micah, the project mgr., that I did not want that gentleman up in my house because of the crappy work he just did, not to mention then gave me his phone number to call in case I needed anything done around my house (SMH). After Effron left I called Micah and expressed how upset I was with him and his company. He told me that he would get with the owner and they would conference call me on Friday morning. Friday morning came and no call, so I called Yack myself and got a hold of Rodney and he said Micah was was there with him. Rodney put me on speaker phone and I told him my story. We went over the original estimate, and I kncoked off the items that were not done, he agreed on those. Then it got down to the bottom line, he said "I can charge $354" for the work that was done (the $354 is on the estimate as line item #3 Regrout tile). I told him since his crew did a half-ass job, now that is the word Micah used when I sent him the photos, I would pay him half of that since this was really shotty work and I could not see paying the full amount for this POS. We went back and forth on the price, he even tried to pull the legal card on me saying he had a signed contract that gave him every right to come up into mu home and fix my bathroom...really dude?? Because the work authorization/contract that I have, was drawn up incorrectly. For instance the "damaged" by area says "vandalism" and the amount noted on there was whited-out and re-written. Not to mention the it has the owners name as "Fabian Moreno"...who the hell is that??? again, after going back and forth, Rodney said that he was just "willing to walk away from this". I asked what that meant as far as my payment and he just repeated that again. Rodney said he would VOID my contract. I asked if he would please send me a copy of the voided contract for my records and he said NO! Did I mention I was a repeat customer? I had used them two years prior when we had a leak in the laundry room and my insurance company dispatched them. They did AWESOME work the first time so that is why I didn't hesitate to call them when I needed my bathroom done. Lesson learned...always get at least three quotes and check out their work first and call their references. Thanks Dad, you can know say, "I TOLD YOU SO". read more

Yack's estimate was a bit ridiculous...e.g., ~$450 to simply detach a brand new water heater and reset it one foot away. I believe the estimate was inflated due to the fact that it is a rental house and I live in another state. I told my insurance company to cancel and found a different contractor. We had water damage on the majority of the main floor of our home, and Yack Construction was the restoration contractor who did all of the build back work. After the mediation company cleaned up and dried out the damaged areas, Yack stepped in and started the build back. Efrain, the estimator and head of our project, was out immediately to walk through everything and asking us about preferences for finishes, etc. Efrain's team started the next day. They were respectful, worked fast, and did quality work. I have no complaints whatsoever. This was an excellent experience in a situation that is pretty stressful. read more

Consumer beware! I contacted these guys out of a recommendation from another contractor. What a nightmare. It wasn't until after their estimator that came out to look at my job that I decided to look up the reviews that previous customers have left. Number one complaint was a lack of response after the estimator comes out to view the job. Little did I know that I would be also one of those people leaving a negative review. I've waited 16 days for my estimate, I have had to call multiple times to follow up on getting the estimate for the repair work at my place, and still they continue to drop the ball over and over. Clearly this company does not want or need my business, otherwise they would have been more proactive in getting me a quote on my job. The days of customer service seem to be long gone, and if you have to be calling a company begging them to give you a quote to pay them money to do a job, that's not the company you want to use, what a huge disappointment. The owners of this company needs to be more proactive in following up with their employees to make sure they are doing their job, as they are the first impression made on behalf of the company. read more

I wish there was a way to give this company negative stars. One of the worst experiences ever. After a break in, my insurance company sent this joke of a company to my house. They did the emergency repair of the front door and then took weeks to get a new door to replace the damaged one. No communication in between. As they are repairing the door, they pull out the frame, but don't replace the 1x4s to secure the screws in to. I mention this to the guys and they said that's how it is, the screws just float there. I told them that this was unacceptable and they finished up and said they would return tomorrow. I sent photos of the "repair to my insurance, and we both agreed that the front entrance was less secure then before the break in. Yack did not return the next day and it took over a month before they did. So while waiting for them, I'm getting letters from my HOA to paint my door, which should have been done by them. My insurance company finally is able to get them back and someone who said he was important said, this wasn't done correctly and they would do it right. Two days later, they job is completed. They were real fast to hit me with my deductible payment. I explained to the man, that due to them taking so long to do their job correctly and the fact that I have three children living at home who are already nervous because of the incident; I had to add additional security measures to my house to make them comfortable. I explained that I would have my check by the end of the month and I would pay them then, he said it was fine. He then proceeds to send me a notification of intent to lien on my house for it before the end of a month. So they think it's alright to do below par work, take months to complete a one day job and then have the nerve to demand payment after stating you understood the end of the month. note. my dates and time is wrong.... hartford insurance claim. on or about 3/30/2019 yack construction inc. appraisal arrived... i slip in bathtub and made a hole in the tile about 12 inch. x 4 inch. all of the sub- construction repair work has been done... ( so far i was happy with all of the work.) only work must be done, the shower doors,water proof caulking around shower doors frame and installing shower towel rack.and installing tub & shower faucets... on or about march 18 or 19 john brought a cheap new shower doors and 4 days later yack construction installed the shower doors. a week later yack construction wanted to install the shower door towel rack but when i seen the cheap quality shower towel rack.. i got up-set, i called yack construction employees "stupid".. i got angry. because of the cheap shower doors and shower tower rack.!!! my old shower doors was chrome frame shower doors.. and the shower door rack was also chrome and square john got round and cheap.!!! my wife and i went to "home depot" to price the frameless shower doors.. home depot price from $112.00 - $146.00 and $188.00.!! yes john got the cheapest $112.00 the shower door tower rack at "home depot" price from $23.00 - $52.00 and $88.00 once again john got the cheapest shower door rack $23.00.. what made things worst john got the inside shower handle with knobs?? why i don't know maybe john is just cheap.??? that day i called john and complain about the cheap shower doors with frame and the cheap shower handle and i told john there should be 2 shower handle inside and outside.. john said no i have photos only 1 shower handle.. i told john when i fall back i grab the shower handle and strip the screw hole and threw it away, i knew it can't be fix... john keep on insisting there was only one.!!!! why should i lie.??? we are the first family to live in our house, 30 years.... now john of yack construction stop all the work.!!!! my bathroom is completed.. after 2 months and 3 days.. read more

Yack was dispatched by my insurance company (Homesite) to quote a water heater repair/remediation. They were very prompt in coming out to measure and prepare for the bid. At the close of the initial site review their representative pushed to have me sign a "Work Authorization Form" accepting all payment responsibility before an estimate was prepared, reviewed and approved by Homesite and ultimately me. I refused to sign the Authorization. They worked with homesite to complete the bid and then demanded that I sign the work authorization form before they would schedule the project. I reviewed the work authorization form and requested a couple of simple amendments. (1) the work/scope submitted to and approved by Homesite was a guaranteed maximum price. (2) No extra additional work would be conducted/billed without my written approval. 3. That no verbal agreements were to be binding on Yack or me. They refused to provide basic reciprocity terms and conditions that protected their company and me equally. It was a one-way agreement that I refused to sign and warn all future customers to closely read the agreements before signing and insist on guaranteed estimates in writing. My changes were very minor and represented basic terms and conditions that are consistent for project like mine in the construction industry in Las Vegas. Yack went out to the house and put a tarp on the roof which ended up costing me $400. The leak had been going on for months as I was on an extended out of town trip. Zach was my estimator, he showed up on time, got the paperwork rolling, had the water damage people out in a timely manner, and once their work was done, the reconstruction started. As expected, since my lower kitchen cabinets were destroyed, it took some time to have the manufacturer rebuild the cabinets, but once that was done installation proceeded quickly.
