I've been going to Xuan for many years now. So does my other two brothers. I'm relatively particular with my hair but not very nitpicky. I have a bump on the side on my head that ​most barber overlook. The fade ends up looking off and uneven. I usually tell the barber ahead of time but almost all of them end up not getting right. I've been to many of barber shops and hair salon around Alameda and this has been my go-to for years. She takes a long time so if you want a quick chop chop then this might not be what you're looking for. Xuan is a PERFECTIONIST! Expect an hour for a haircut lol. But the attention to detail is worth it. You'll love the haircut. If it's your first time, just be descriptive of what you want and don't hesitate to clarify what you want while she's snipping away. read more

Let me tell you......... Xuan is the best in town !!! I usually go visit Thailand and get my hair done there because it's cheaper and a lot better but I haven't went there for couple years because of the pandemic so I decided to go to her. First I got haircut for my hair donation then I went back to do hi-lighting and coloring. She did everything so well and in details she even fixed some spot that the color didn't come out correct and nobody could see! I told her it was ok but she insisted she had to fix. I decided to give this place a try all because of a gal I saw at a cafe. I LOVED her haircut and asked her where she got it from. You can see her pictures on Yelp. This salon is only 10 minutes away from my house but I never checked it out. I have been getting my haircut in SF. I like getting haircut there but I don't like the commute coming home. When I arrived Xian's salon, I looked at the surroundings. Then I started to come up with a bunch of excuses to leave in my head. The salon looks like one of those salons where my teenager son would just walk in to get a simple haircut. Long story short, I stayed. I told her I went in because of the haircut I saw. I showed her the picture and told her it would not look good on me because of the shape of my face. I showed her what I looked like when I had short hair. She said I looked better in short hair. She said I should cut it short. I was thinking to myself do I want to have a drastic change with a stylist I have never used? I was convinced and am glad I did it! Just like the other reviewers said, Xuan took her time styling my hair. Even though her next customer was there towards the end of my session, and her dad came to get a haircut, she still took her time. I hope my new hair style won't be too hard to maintain. Amazing service and wonderful detail oriented hairstylist! Takes her time with her work. Shes very meticulous. I had picture references and she made it as close to it as possible, which in my book is amazing! The salon wasn't too busy because it was appointments only. I've been leaving my hair long since the pandemic, so 3+ years with the intention of donating to Locks of Love for the 2nd time. She's very thorough and super friendly! My hair is tough to cut and style because it's very straight and the sides stick out, but I think she did a wonderful job!
