WOW!!!! There is no other way to describe what my wife and I experienced with Dave & Stephanie of Xtreme 4x4 Tours.The pictures on the web don't do justice of the tour. From the start (they picked us up at out hotel) until the end it was OUTRAGEOUS!!!! From the beginning of the tour the terrain and the knowledge that Dave & Stephanie share are just great. The first stop we made was so Dave could show us Dinosaur fossil footprints which was very cool. Dave's vehicle is great, not once were we afraid that it couldn't negotiate the trail and only once to twice did he even have to put it in 4 wheel drive. That being said we saw other vehicles struggling other the same terrain. There were a number of times that we were as close to being totally vertical without going over backwards. We were very impressed with Dave & Stephanie's knowledge of the desert. It was very cool that they know all of the spring flowers that just happened to be in bloom and were beautiful. He also explained the Moab soil and why it is so important for off roaders to stay on the trails.They were also very knowledgeable about the movies that had been filmed right where we were and also recommended that we take Utah 128 to the 70 due to the beauty as it runs on the side of the Colorado river and was a great drive! I have a very bad back and had talked to Dave & Stephanie about this prior to our tour and after some discussion we decided to go on the Xtreme tour and it was the right decision. The seats were very comfortable and the 3 point seat belts gave me not only comfort but also security. In saying this we decided on the most extreme tour they had to offer and it was worth it!!! We will do this again when we return to Moab as it was the absolute high light of our stay in Moab and that is saying quite a bit as they are competing with the wonderful National Parks. Once last thing, Dave & Stephanie know customer service, we felt like we had been friends for years and that put us into a very relaxing space. Once again we will do this again upon our return to Moab!!! read more

If I could give Xtreme 4x4 more than five stars, I absolutely would! My husband and I were visiting Moab to celebrate our 10th anniversary, and we knew we wanted to experience some of the slickrock trails the area is famous for. Everything was wonderful from start to finish! When I called to book, Megan was just the best! She answered all my questions and helped decide what day would be right for us. We ended up going with the 3hr extreme tour, and it was the highlight of our entire trip! The day of the tour, it was us and another couple. The gentleman who drives the larger vehicle was unavailable so we went out in two side by sides; which was honestly perfect! My husband and I kept switching who got the front seat. Braden was our guide and he was incredible! We had so much fun just chatting with him about Moab, and his history and experiences on the trail. He's also an expert driver. The ride itself is definitely thrilling and a bit scary at times, but I never once felt unsafe. And it was so nice at some of our stops to hop out and chat with the other guests and their guide Kevin, who was also fantastic. Honestly, what impressed me the most (even more than the stunning scenery) was Braden and Kevin's passion for this. You can tell it's more than just a job to them. They were telling stories of going out with their own personal vehicles as well as helping to maintain the trail. These guys are true pros and know their craft. just WOW!! I will start by saying I never do reviews but this experience really deserved one. I have been on several tours & this all day Arches & Canyonlands private tour was by far the best I have ever experienced!! And although I know a lot of the credit goes to the breathtaking state of Utah it was mostly because of our amazing tour guide Dave! He was so kind and knowledgeable it made the experience so fun & exciting we really had the best day. It's been a week and I am still thinking about it! Dave really went out of his way to make the little things we wanted to see work and show us as much as possible including locations movies like Indiana Jones and Thelma & Louise were filmed. He even watched the movie scenes prior to the tour & took videos to show us in person; how thoughtful!?! We walked in the same steps as dinosaurs and drove through permit only areas most who come here never get to see! This is something I will truly never forget. I highly recommend doing this tour if you want to get the most out of these 2 National Parks and not have to deal with the lines and all the people. I am sure all the guides are amazing but ask for Dave if you want a little extra joy added to your trip, you will not regret it! This was easily our kids (13, 10 and 3 years old) favorite thing about our trip to Moab! We've truly never done anything like this before and we travel a ton. Dave did a great job of prepping us for the trip and making sure everyone was safe and secure. I have NO idea how he drives the way he does, but he has to be the most skilled driver on the planet. We navigated some of the coolest and most difficult rocks in the country and he is a PRO. Our daughter was a little scared at first, but by the second half was loving it and all of the kids said it was their favorite. We got some of the best views and just the coolest experience, and I'd HIGHLY recommend this tour and specifically this company to anyone traveling out to Moab. The vehicle is unlike any others we saw out there, and was able to navigate things that others couldn't-- we even had a large group videoing us go up and down Hell's Gate because they couldn't do it in their vehicles and thought it was so cool. We did the sunset tour and got some amazing pictures with our family. Simply put, DO NOT MISS THIS TOUR! Dave was also great about making recommendations to us about other things to do in the area since we did this on our first day there, and giving us some cool stories and history about the area. Many offroad tours are available in Moab so hopefully this will help you choose the one that works for you. We opted for the self-drive escorted tour of the Hell's Revenge Trail. You drive the vehicle and follow a tour guide through the recreation area. If you are a beginner you do not want to venture into this area by yourself. It's vast busy and tricky so don't just go rent a side-by-side and head off. This company knows what they are doing. The equipment was immaculate and our guide Austin was exceptional. First came safety and then the adventure. Austin took us to 80% of the Hell's Revenge area only avoiding the truly sketchy trails that were clearly beyond a beginner like me. Well organized and thoroughly professional the whole experience from booking to check-in and the tour itself was exceptional. This one will get your blood pumping - very exhilarating and highly recommended. read more

WOW!! I was first impressed with the equipment and that's why I readily agreed to book this EXTREME tour! I've ridden a lot of dirt bikes and done some four wheeling but this was the most exciting time ever for me (except one time I nearly slide of a 2000 foot cliff in California while 4-wheeling back in the 70's, but that was a different kind of excitement!) We were in the fastest, baddest machine out there. We did it all the hardest and most fun way possible and yet I never felt at risk of personal injury. The driver, Dave, was funny and really engaged with each passenger the entire time and even told us about dessert plant and animal life as we screamed past it! AMAZING! I felt like I was back on a dust bik tearing around the dessert as a teenager but much faster and much steeper inclines than I ever had the guts to do back then. You need to do this! Gerrit is the most amazing xtreme tour guide! We had the best time ever. He is a very knowledgeable and experienced driver. You could tell he loves what he is doing. He did the obstacles like they were a piece of cake. He helped pull a buggy out of an obstacle that was like a deep swimming pool. He also offered to help a hummer that was stuck but the "hummer guide" said he didn't need any help so the hummer blocked the obstacle for 20 minutes until they towed him up. We went and did some other obstacles and came back to do hell's gate and ran it 2 times. It was so much fun! We were able to switch seats when we took breaks so you could experience it all. The front seat was a little milder than the back seats which were like a roller coaster the entire time. At one time, I think we were totally vertical! Definitely, a must-do! My wife and I signed up for the U-Drive 4-1/2 hour morning tour. The main reason for choosing this option is because it's a guided tour. This was so important to us because we didn't want to waste time trying to navigate an area we new nothing about. We could see other people in unguided vehicles trying to read maps or determine what trail to take, while we spent our time following our guide Aaron. We were able to follow in his tire tracks and take trails we never would have attempted on our own. The vehicle operation was clearly explained before proceeding on the tour and Aaron was great at explaining the geography of the area when we stopped for breaks. We highly recommend Xtreme 4x4 Tours whether this is your first off road trip or are a regular 4-wheeler. If you are lucky, you'll get Aaron as your guide. read more

If you do ONE THING in Moab DO THIS!!!! As a repeat customer I cannot recommend this highly enough. I have been driven by both Dave (the owner) and now Gerrit and neither disappointed. The tour is wild and will have you holding on for dear life - all while smiling and laughing. Taken the 3-hour tour both times and it's a perfect amount of time and a great deal for the value of the tour. Don't hesitate to take some Dramamine or some kind of motion sickness pill to ward off any queasiness. You will be driving up and down rock walls, flying through sandy paths and bouncing around in your seat. All that being said both of the men are the most competent drivers out there. Our experience was stunning, amazing and a ton of fun. Jack (our guide) was unbelievable; his knowledge, experience, kindness and fantastic demeanor made it an unforgettable family adventure. We couldn't be happier. if you want to experience Arches with someone who knows it like the back of his hand, take the tour. Nice vehicle with AC, water and comfort - yet we did some fun backroading - so it wasn't just a cushy ride. We were able to experience a combination of comfort with some really cool back road activity. Our trip to Arches / Moab is even more memorable because of all the stories, history, hidden places that most visitors never get to see. OMG! What a great experience we had with Extreme 4x4 and our guide and driver Gerrit. There were six of us in the vehicle enjoying the ride of our lives. We asked to be picked up at the camp ground and Gerrit was right on time. After many thrills we made it to Devils Gate. Devils Gate is a steep narrow crevasse that the other 4x4 companies will not attempt. We went down, did a three point turn and then back up! there are many other seemingly impossible climbs and descents handled so well you feel that Gerrit and the vehicle are attached in some way. We felt safe and secure while flying around curves and navigating boulders. Great fun! Glad we choose the right company to see Moab. read more

Went to Moab for the first time and there were many options for the 4x4. We decided to go with Dave and Stephanie and it was the best choice! The company is small and run only by these 2 wonderful people. Stephanie was helpful in booking this tour as well as questions I had about the area. Dave was knowledgeable about the 4x4 and his modified suburban is AMAZING for 4x4. We passed other companies and the car (or monster truck, whichever you prefer) was huge compared to the other itty bitty jeeps etc. Plus, we looked like we were having way more fun. My dad and I did the 3 hour scenic tour with tour guide Kevin Walker. It was truly amazing. Our tour guide, Kevin Walker, took time to show us specific sites as well as give us interesting and factual background. I greatly appreciated the patience and dignity Kevin gave to my 81 year old father assisting him each time he had to enter and exit the 4x4. Dave @ Xtreme 4x4 Tours is a MUST for your Moab visit. I have never been into this kind of thing but this was easily the highlight of my Moab trip. You'll go through just about every emotion during the tour as Dave weaves you through terrain I still can't believe we passed... be sure to ask for the "extreme" option, the Moab Rim Trail. Dave was beyond capable and very personable and was able to navigate the trail while keeping up conversations with us ranging from the terrain, moab, his custom ride, Grand Junction beer runs and just about any other personal question you put to him. We own a Jeep but could never have had so much fun!!! So booked a trip with Xtreme 4X4 tours, we rode In a Modified suburban. Our Driver was Dave who was an awesome driver and actually the designer, creator, builder of these amazing vehicles. He flew through sand and climbed the unimaginable - made the trip so much fun. We did all the things. Hell's gate, The escalator, Mickey's hot tub and the car wash (a hot tub type hole) along with all the sand dunes and much more 3hr sunset tour. I'm not gonna lie at time it was a little exhilarating but It was so much fun I highly recommend this company and ask for Dave. This was above and beyond!!! read more

I would not call our side-by-side 4X4 "extreme", but it was a lot of fun and safe. Kevin, our driver, gave us a personal tour that took us through some beautiful terrain. Most the road was fine but started to get more rugged which provided some more exciting ups and downs and bumps. I got the impression that because of our age, we were treated a bit more carefully. Kevin is very knowledgeable of the area and provided lots of historical info. We were very impressed that he stopped to pick up trash left by others a few times and also let other recreators know when they were in areas they were not allowed to be. This is NOT a "typical" jeep tour. If you want to bounce around on a jeep and get some dust up your nose, plenty of other companies out there. But if you want to hang off the end of the world, climbing the impossible and then going back down, book these guys. We had numerous people videotape our tour as we did things no other company does. I would recommend them at the highest levels. Worth every penny. Garrit was our guide and he was fabulous. If you are on the fence about cost and think "I'll save a few dollars and book...". Don't. Save up, splurge it is worth it. Also buy your video. Such an amazing experience. read more
