I cannot day enough good things about this experience. We went canyoneering and rappelling with Eric and it was the most fun We've had in years. It was scary sometimes (I'm a lil afraid of heights) but we felt so safe the entire time with Eric guiding us. And the views we got of the mountains were once in a lifetime. Definitely go with this company if you're a thrill seeker but also want to learn a lot!

A group of 5 of us without any previous rock climbing chops were referred to Eric via a trusted resource. We're glad we listened. Eric is so unbelievably skilled, the next thing you know, you and your people are scaling the face of a rock with no side. He's smart, kind, encouraging, knowledgable and were not sure how he did it -- he spoke with all of us, immersed us in the environment and before we knew it we had climbed and rappelled down. We saw each other the other night and this came up, it always does! Moab itself was incredible and we all voted Eric and this experience the most incredible thing we did there.

EXCELLENT and experienced owner/guide Eric of Windgate Adventures led us on a memorable and magnificent 3 pitch beginners (5.6) climb with 120' rappel through an arch with the most breathtaking views of Looking Glass Arch. WOW WOW WOW!! We learned that Eric comes from a family of (first ascensionists) climbers and he has been in the Moab area for over 15 years and has personally installed over 100 climbs. He knows the area like the back of his hand! Ha! I have been climbing before but it's been many years and what I do remember is how to be safe and Eric knows how to do that. We felt very confident in his best practices and particular attention to safety measures both for Covid and more importantly for the art of climbing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

We had an amazing two days with Eric! He taught us a ton about the area, climbing, and rappelling. He was very personable and worked with us on our levels to make sure we had the best experience possible. We would definitely come again and recommend Windgate to others visiting Moab.

We had the absolute best time with her -- she went along with our goofy vibe from the get-go and even took pictures of our whole group along the way since none of us wanted to bring our phone on the river. I felt safe doing the Class I/II rapids and even got out to swim in one, per Savannah's suggestion. The bus ride to the put-in is about 45 minutes and about half that on the way back and the other guides get up and give information about the surrounding landscape in a very funny, engaging way. Would absolutely do this again, next time, with our kids! 10/10.

Lunch was easy - they set up super quick - caesar salad wraps, waters/juices, chips, chicken salad, and Oreos. Some of my favorite parts was the fact that ALL the guides and bus driver were all young women. I loved that my kids saw these women do all the heavy lifting (literally and figuratively) and think it sets an awesome example to my son and young daughter. A few days later as we drove out of Moab, we drove down the same 10-15 miles of road we took on the bus. I didn't realize how much my kids had absorbed during the bus ride, but they rattled off all the facts, stories and sites that the guide had shared on our way to rafting.

And it's dog friendly! At the trailhead, there is a small parking lot with a sign that tells visitors to come back later if the lot is full. We arrived just after 8am on a Sunday and found only 3 other cars there. The trail is very clearly marked so you know right where to go. Be sure to stop at the bathroom on your way up if needed. There is also a dog waste station to get poop bags, but you'll need to carry it out with you as there are no garbage cans along the way. The first few minutes of the hike are out in the open-lots of sun and no shade. But quickly you'll find yourself along the river with trees all around you. There is sandstone that you'll hike through-it can be a little slippery. A little further in you'll find that the trail crosses the river. Plan on getting wet even though there are rocks that you can walk across. Keep going and you'll end up at a beautiful waterfall and pool. I'm told there is another further on, but we turned around after this point. We will come back again and see what surprises await us beyond this point.

Our guide Gabe was amazing; he showed us the ropes (literally). He was patient, calm, and a pleasure to talk to. The scenery was breathtaking, way better than our hikes inside the national park. We asked if we could switch to a different tour where we stayed dry, and he said that was no problem at all. He suggested the Bow and Arrow Tour, and we ended up having a fantastic time. The Bow and Arrow was a slightly shorter and cheaper tour than the one we'd originally selected, and they refunded us the difference immediately. It was clear that us having a great experience was their number one priority, and we really appreciated their flexibility and foresight. Gabe was super competent and while we were nervous for the rappelling, it was clear he really knew his stuff and we felt like we were in expert hands. The tour was an absolute highlight of our trip to Moab, and I'd highly recommend doing some rappelling with Moab Canyon Tours while visiting.

Moab was at the tail-end of our trip and we had just gone through a pretty taxing rental car issue when we arrived.. so needless to say we were seeking an escape. The town was really lovely, and we were looking forward to meeting with MDA for a climb up Looking Glass. We were introduced to Larry, the manager of operations and an accomplished adventure guide for the company. Larry was just a fantastic guy all around.. polite, funny, he kept us engaged through the whole experience, and even acted as tour guide for us so we could get a good sense of what Moab had to offer. Looking Glass itself was a phenomenal experience. I'm a first-time climber and my friend had some experience under her belt, but we are both in good shape and Larry briefed us on exactly what the demands were for the climb and what we were to expect. After a crash course in harnessing, belaying, and the ensuing climb, it didn't take us more than an hour to summit. Larry was a gem, helped us gather some great photos, and even took us along the scenic route back to show us different sites along the way. The experience was precisely what we were looking for, we wouldn't hesitate to book another tour with Larry again.
