We can't speak highly enough about this company and our guide, Gabe. A day before the tour he called to touch base and let us know that the tour we'd selected would get us very wet, and he was concerned that the forecast was for very cold weather that day. We asked if we could switch to a different tour where we stayed dry, and he said that was no problem at all. He suggested the Bow and Arrow Tour, and we ended up having a fantastic time. The Bow and Arrow was a slightly shorter and cheaper tour than the one we'd originally selected, and they refunded us the difference immediately. It was clear that us having a great experience was their number one priority, and we really appreciated their flexibility and foresight. Gabe was super competent and while we were nervous for the rappelling, it was clear he really knew his stuff and we felt like we were in expert hands. We completed the 3/4 day Zero Gravity adventure. We are both newbies to canyoneering and it was awesome. Our guide was Sam and he did a fabulous job of getting us through the canyon and teaching us how to do it. It's definitely a challenging and tough but very rewarding when you make it to the end. Whenever I felt stuck or not sure what to do Sam was there to help out and encourage. If you're thinking about doing this you should do it! Clothing wise we wore quick dry shorts and tshirts . For shoes we wore Keens. They provide you with gloves and knee pads (would have been brutal without) and helmets. Don't forget to bring water. Lots of water! read more

I can't imagine a better adventure experience on my trip to Moab. We were a group of 6 girls celebrating a bachelorette. Mike was the coolest guide ever, from dropping by our campsite a day in advance to fill us in on deetz and get to know us, to letting us stop to pee and get snacks on the long drive out to the canyon, to working adeptly with our variety of skill levels and cracking jokes the whole time while also being very reassuring. I felt we were in extremely good hands and only wished we could have kept canyoneering with him until dark! This was our first time canyoneering. My husband has had previous experiences doing similar things, but my 11-year-old and I are completely new to this. We had a great canyoneering experience with Sylvan. We went on the one called Zero G. The guide texted us the day before to remind us of things to bring and made sure that we were all set with the experience. He met us on time at 7am. After we followed his car to the destination, due to COVID guidelines we drove our own car, Sylvan quickly helped us to get ready. As we hiked, a very short one, he showed us the canyon in which we would be maneuvering. Once we are on our decent into the canyon, Sylvan calmly demonstrated the skills needed, encouraged and guided us safely through the canyon, while making sure that we had a great experience. Sylvan adapted his instruction to each of us... 6'2", 5'2", and a 11-year-old little ball of energy, we could not have been more diverse. But Sylvan really made it personalized to each of us. I can't emphasize enough how phenomenal it was to go canyoneering the first time with Sylvan Christensen (@sylvanslacks) at Moab Canyon Tours. I signed up about a week in advance for the Rock of Ages half-day trip, which included 3 rappels (one at 120 feet, a double drop at 65 feet, and a final big solo drop at 135 feet) and lots of scrambling and maneuvering in narrow slot canyons. I was expecting to be in a small group, but was pleasantly surprised to find Sylvan was guiding me one-on-one, and that made the whole experience. His professionalism was second-to-none, and the conversation was easy and free-flowing, ranging from local Native American history to hundreds of millions of years of geological upheaval. I caught the hiking bug about five years ago, but the experience with Moab Canyon Tours has inspired me to join a rock climbing gym back where I live in Philadelphia the first chance I get. I can't wait to get out again for my next trip and climb some towers / rope swing! Highly, highly recommend. read more

We did Rock of Ages on 4/24/17 with Brett as our guide. Simply put we had a phenomenal experience and would recommend Moab Canyon Tours and Brett to anyone. The longer version is that Brett met us at exactly 8 am as scheduled and from the very get go he was friendly, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and basically everything you would hope for in a guide you've never met. The short drive outside of town (literally less than 10 minutes) was over in no time and before you know it we were sized up in our helmets and harnesses and hiking up the trail. Now here's where Brett really shined, not only is he a fun happy guy that knows what he should about canyoneering, but he also knew a lot of extra info that made the experience even better. Like being able to point out specific plants, or randomly spotting a frog along the trail. By the time we got a mile up the trail we had a lot of confidence in Brett's ability, knowledge and skill in canyoneering, climbing, and backcountry safety. I have a background in ropes and knots so talking to Brett it was easy to see he knew exactly what he was doing and what was necessary to safely accomplish the trip.  When we reached the first rappel my wife and I relaxed while Brett set up the system in under 10 minutes. After his review of technique we were over the side and moving on to the next rappel in no time. Each time we encountered an obstacle Brett was already showing us the way to navigate it. It was almost cheating, but it kept us dry, for the most part. We finished the trip in just under 4 hours. In summary, yes, you should go canyoneering and yes Moab Canyon Tours (and in this instance Brett) is a solid crew to go with. Were already planning our next trip and would not hesitate to call Moab Canyon Tours again. read more

Moab Canyon Tours is awesome! For my Birthday this year I talked 7 of my friends into going canyoneering with me. I've done numerous trips with Moab Canyon Tours and was stoked to have my friends to enjoy the time of a life experience with me! I've always had Mike as a tour guide in the past (he is way awesome!) but wasn't available so Sam took us out. Needless to say he was fricken sweet too!
