Summary: Do NOT go to Jim for any cut or color, he will BOTCH your hair. HOWEVER, Karla is an amazing nail tech! She is the only reason I am giving two stars and not one. The longer version of the story is that I go to Carla to get my monthly acrylics and she is lovely. I was there once and Jim, hairdresser and owner, said he could do what I wanted with my hair which was a very heavy blonde balayage. I came in to him and at first I was impressed because he said I had curly hair (I have extremely wavy natural hair but I wear it straight) and that he was an expert with curly hair. He recommended to give me layers but I was very hesitant and only allowed him to do a few. Well, they turned out HORRIBLE. After he attempted to color my hair and it went so wrong. For some reason he died my hair basically gray no hint of blonde in sight and gave me horrible color lines (see photos). Unless you have really curly kinky hair do not trust him when he says he will give you layers. They will only look awful. The best part of the story? I booked a emergency color correction at a different salon because of this and turns out she had a previous client that also got botched by Jim! Turns out she recognized the awful layers he gave me and said he gave someone else the same haircut and they hated it. Will never be going back here again. They do not know how to be in a work setting. I worked directly with the owner and Tina did my hair. Requested a refund because this is not what I wanted done and they refused. Sat here for 3.5 hours to leave through the back alley at 9:30 at night and with wet hair! I asked for 3.5 inches cut and she probably cut 6 inches off of my hair. I'm not entirely sure what she was doing because I have never had "bleed marks" and I've been dying my hair for over 10 years. This place is definitely the first nail salon I've found that I want to be a regular. I called them up to make a pedicure appointment for me and my mom and they were incredibly accommodating. I'm very indecisive about nail color but I know my style. I let them know what I was looking for and my nail stylist provided great insight and the perfect suggestion. I love the time they took on our nails and my mom even booked a hair appointment for the next day. Her hair turned out fantastic and she adores it so much. Walked in to Jim's salon when it was closed, and he opened the door welcomed me with friendly genuine interest in what I was seeking, and though he was waiting on the arrival of a bridal party who'd hired him for their wedding hair, nails, and makeup, he spent over 30 minutes with me talking about my interests and how to best take care of my hair knowing I couldn't schedule a future appointment with him because I was only passing through town. He did a demo using products and a nifty tool that seems to be a game changer for us curly headed gals, and so while walking in with disheveled hair on a hot sweaty day, I walked out with a mini complimentary blow out and tons of knowledge about how to take better care of my curly hair that has evaded me for 34 years. I wish I could rate this with no stars. I got my hair done by Jim and it was completely ruined. Orange, lines through it, and my haircut was botched. I asked him for my money back, he offered to fix it. So I gave him another chance. He cut my hair again and it was still messed up big time still. He was very unprofessional with me when I was asking for my money back after the second time and very rude. Do not go to Jim! Take your money and run. Worst cut and color in my life. I went in on a Wednesday at 9:30, the lady who did my nails seemed bored with everything I said. And she spent the majority of the time bad mouthing other clientele, with her two coworkers. Super unprofessional. I would've been willing to let all that stuff go, not a huge deal, if my nails had turned out amazing. It is 6 days later (I got a gel manicure which should last 10-14 days), and it's turning yellow (WTF?) and chipping. Never going here again. read more

My boyfriend and I went for a couples day. We got a massage, facial, mani and pedi. We paid $290 before tip with their Groupon. It was very relaxing, everyone was very nice. The salon was pretty clean but if you have super super high standards on how clean you like the salon to be, this salon could use a little extra work. For me it was clean and the staff was friendly. The color choice and feeling inside the salon was very relaxing. I will definitely be coming back. Also this is a super plus, and that's why they won my 5 star vote, THEY HAVE VEGAN NAIL POLISH and VEGAN PRODUCTS!! Im not one to usually give such a low rating but... I made an appointment online over a month ago to have a pedicure and when I arrived they didn't have my information. First the lady at the computer/counter couldn't even figure out the system then the Owner came over and said "oh I'm sorry we had two people quit recently and got a new system and everything before that is gone". Yet they never called or cancelled my appointment and he said that it's happened like 3 other times this week and didn't even seem bothered by it. I don't even live in Boise I came that day only to try this place and get a pedicure. But I'm a positive person and was like ok fine I'll make a new appointment. Came back today had my pedicure with Cari and she was super sweet and gave me a great pedicure but as I was trying to check out she had issues with the computer and called Jim (the owner) over, first he ignored her and me when we called him because he was more inclined to keep working on his eyebrows. But when he did come over instead of taking care of me the client first he wanted to print something and I had to wait as he messed around only to get frustrated and then finally check me out. There was also spillage in the employee only area while I was there that poor Cari had to clean up and made the whole salon stink something awful. Definitely not a salon I would go back to nor recommend to anyone. read more

I usually don't have time to leave reviews but I have to for this salon!!! I am so, so, so grateful I found them. I purchased a Groupon for my first time and got a gel manure and spa pedicure with Amanda. They honor the price of the Groupon in there salon EVERY TIME so its extremely affordable. Amanda pays attention to details and does such an amazing job. I have brought my friends in and they have been with other nail techs - and they ALL do a great job. Kudos to the manager for hiring such quality employees! My polish lasts so long and I always leave feeling beautiful. The staff is so funny and they are all so kind. I can't say enough great things. I purchased a groupon and my experience was alright. First they told me I should try to get my money back from groupon because their prices are the same in store and I thought that's weird but whatever I'll still go and see how it is. First impression wasn't great the staff wasn't super friendly and they all seemed like they were too busy but again I ignored it because maybe they are really sweet who knows. So the manicure begins and the person doing my nails was super rough but again I didnt say anything because I was hoping it would get better but it didn't. The foot massage was maybe 1 minute and the nails are decent looking but nothing amazing. Not to mention that the salon seemed dirty. Everything needed to be wiped down. Which was weird because the staff was just talking and relaxing when the shop is pretty dirty. I really hate writing bad reviews but I've been to a lot of Salons and this place is not one I'd go back to. I'm not sure if this is how it normally is or if its because I purchased a groupon and (they only get 50% of the profits) or that's what I was told (which is kinda unprofessional) but it was really weird. The owner seemed nice but he's not a trump fan he was very vocal about that. Which is fine I could care less but that's not something you talk about very loudly in the salon, I don't think politics belongs in a place of buisness. read more

A big waste of my time. I made an appointment for 2 color acrylic fill for 4.30. I got there right at 4:40 and was told to have a seat. At 4:50, no one had said a word to me so I got up and asked the technician how much longer. She told me 15 min. I told her to cancel my appointment. That was ridiculous. read more

Dragon gives great nails - that's all there is to it. Anyone who says otherwise is smoking crack, because she is meticulous. She also does great design work. ALSO - Jim gives great hair. I'm not only talking about the cut/color he did for me - I've also watched him do other clients hair and it always looks good. I'm a returning customer to Jim for a cut. Let me just say how fun and bouncy my hair was when I left the salon. He does FANTASTIC layers, and made my fine, limp hair feel young and fun again. He also takes his time to style it afterwards, and I just love how nerdy he gets when he explains what he's doing (while cutting and styling). He's fun to chat with and also you can tell he really loves what he's doing. The other thing I like about this salon is they are very good if you are on a budget, and he'll always tell you about upcoming deals to come, or ways to save money. I left there with a hair plan for the next time I come in; which is exciting. Not only does he take his time with you while you're there, he puts some thought into the future-YOU too. I really really really had high hopes, and as much as I wanted to like my experience, it fell flat. I thought I did everything right. Took in lots of photos of both cut and color. Explicitly told Jim what I DIDN'T want, i.e. helmet hair. We conversed, and I told him that I'm not your typical 60 y/o grandma, I wanted cute hair. The color was what HE wanted to do, not like ANY of my photos. AND I HAVE HELMET HAIR. The Pravana products are good, I bought three of them. When he finished with my hair, he was really excited, but I could tell it was bad. At that point there was no use in asking him to fix it, his next customer was waiting. You can't re-attach hair you've cut off, and recoloring may not have even been possible. I thought that maybe after I went home and styled it myself I might like it, but it's just plain bad. I've been going to Karla for my pedicures for a little while now. Theres no question of her ability and talent. What I'm a little unsatisfied with is that shes always changing the price on me. It seems every time she adds 5 or 10 bucks to the total. And it's always a different price even though I get the same thing every time! One time she overcharged me by 10 bucks and a month later she texted me saying she over charged me and will give me a discount for the next time, which is thoughtful, but then since then she still overcharged me. Even the prices listed online, she just comes up with a random number. I dont think I'll be going to her again. Not to mention last time I went was the worst experience I've had with her. At first when i came early for my appointment, she ended up being late, I had to wait while my mother got to start hers. When she finally got to me she said she didnt have time for my pedicure! But she called her next appointment to reschedule so she could do mine. And she also nicked my big toe with cuticle cutters so bad it bled! She didnt even apologize. Not happy! read more

Had a fantastic pedicure and gel manicure here. My nail tech Dragon was so easy going and very personable. She took her time and really seemed to care about her work. She also got me to try a fun color that I would never think of! Definitely plan on going back. Everyone else in the salon was very kind as well. They seem to be familiar with most of their clients and know them by name. They definitely stay busy so I recommend making an appointment.
