We finally made it out to try XO Ice Cream and Waffles. It's tough to try new ice cream spots out when the big 3 dominate in Cowtown. However, we were in the area so my sister suggested making a pitstop for dessert. We dropped in on a Tuesday afternoon (around 1:00pm). It's a tiny shop; currently only allowing one person/family in at a time. There was about 20 flavors to choose from (seasonal and summer specials). Sad that you currently can't sample any flavours. Lime cilantro sorbet (that wasn't listed) peaked my interest. - Double scoop ($8.00) - we added a waffle one ($1.00) and decided on the sour cherry and guava papaya sorbet as our two flavours. They were very generous scoops. The sour cherry was the winner with real pieces of cherry (a slightly sour bite). Stronger in papaya than guava flavour. I think their sorbet texture could use a bit of work but overall, we were happy campers. - Single scoop ($6.00) - my sister went with the same flavours as we weren't sharing. I have a nut allergy and really liked how they had a sheet of paper that listed which flavours had nuts, which were a potential contamination and which were safe. I loved having that and wish other places would do that too. I also liked how you can get a mix flavour of a single scoop as I can very rarely finish a double and I always have a hard time deciding on just one flavour. XO is a super cute ice cream shoppe really close to my parents house in the very family friendly neighborhood of Auburn Bay. All the ice cream is made in store with fresh milk and ingredients! Woohoo, yay for gourmet ice cream in the deep SE! We have tried their Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel, Hazelnut Crunch, and Strawberry Rhubarb. All flavors were excellent, especially the salted caramel and Hazelnut Crunch. Their cones are pretty tasty as well, although they aren't very sturdy. Both cones I have gotten leaked on me. I wish they had a bigger store so you could actually have a choice to stay in an eat your ice cream. They have chairs outside the shoppe, but it has been quite hot to sit out under the sun with my baby while we enjoy ice cream. The customer service was fantastic and the waffle ice cream combo is absolutely delicious. I had the cookies and cream waffle combo which did not disappoint! Finally gave these guys a try, and on a snowy day no less. They ran a contest recently where kids got to enter their ideas for ice cream flavours and the winner got to make theirs. A fun idea and the winner was a hot chocolate ice cream. I had a sample and it was pretty good. However I ended up going with my usual mint chocolate. I like the one here as they use pieces of chocolate and shavings, not chips. There's some good sized chunks in this one too. A nice surprise. read more

They have waffles on their own or what they call a sundae, which is one scoop of ice cream and half of a waffle. One of the better ice cream places around and will definitely be returning! read more

Only reason it doesn't get five stars is there really isn't much room for larger groups to sit inside. The ice cream here is absolutely delicious! It's made fresh right in the store and, in addition to the usual flavours, they have some unique options such as lemon zest elderflower and raspberry rose sorbet. Prices are very reasonable, much cheaper than you would pay for a Blizzard at Dairy Queen, and for far better ice cream. The kids scoop is a generous size and the single scoop is quite large. Waffle cones are also made in house and are well worth the extra dollar. I haven't tried the waffles or sundaes yet, but I will definitely be going back many times! Highly recommended. read more
