Well to start let's begin with service. The bartender was polite and gave off a welcoming attitude which was very nice. She greeted us as we sat down and got right on to our order. Now it was just 4 of us came to get some drinks after a ruff night at work and let's just say there wasn't the spot to go. There was soo much noise and ppl just yelling out "whooo" at random times for no reason. Drinks- now this is all we came for drinks and to be honest the bartender seems great as a sales person but if your gonna lie to someone cover your tracks. First drink that came was a glass full of ice (don't get me wrong the flavor was there but the drink wasn't worth the price). The others who got martinis were said it doesn't have any liquor it tastes light. So on the second round we requested less ice and the bartender said well that means your cup won't be as full. Me being confused waited for me to get a glass that's gonna be half full but this is when the lies started. Drinks came with less ice but it was a full glass all she did was give us more juice. Straight up disappointing. For those who doesn't know we don't measure alcohol while mixing on island, of course there is a ratio and flavor to some of the drink recipes. Anyways time to pay and we noticed there is a charge that we didn't order and simply asked what is it? The lady decided to tell use it's for the margarita (they charge for the type of alcohol and then the mix used). Ok that's fine that's how the system shows it. Why am I being charged for the same thing when I didn't get that drink? I ordered Tito's sour not Tito's. (The lie that hurt me) the lady told me since she used freshly squeezed limes and simple syrup she had to put it like that as a charge to equal as the price since the system doesn't just allow them to click sour mix. Now why watch me in my face and tell me your squeezing fresh limes and I'm watching you pour it from a bottle that I purchase in the grocery store? Anyways that night was a bust I will try them again in the day and see how the experience will be or maybe a different bartender at night. But this 1 was a no no. Everyone left as sober as they came in and just more annoyed because of all the stories we heard from this bartender. read more

Overpriced drinks $10 small plastic cup of white wine- Riesling for $10. Okay- now for the good stuff... spinach artichoke dip is baked in a bread bowl and is probably hands-down the best spinach artichoke dip I've ever had in my young life. Must get. I was appealed by their dinner menu but by the time I went they were only serving a limited lunch menu so I only had an appetizer and wine and decided to eat elsewhere but most likely worth a dinner trip! read more

Excellent steak house with a seafood selection. We had the prime rib special and the rib eye regular entree. Both perfectly cooked and huge with accompanying sauces. We had leftovers the next day for dinner - plenty. Of particular note is the bar. Professional bartenders and it is a whiskey and martini bar. You can get rum but it is not their focus. Sophisticated clientele. You must make a reservation but it is well worth it. The price points are much better than some of the toney competitors in Red Hook. We got our money's worth and were treated well. read more

This was our first night in St Thomas. We picked XO because the Yelp reviews regarding the atmosphere and food were for the most part very good to outstanding! We were not disappointed! People complained about the service and the food took too long to come out and it was cold! That WAS NOT OUR EXPERIENCE! XO Bistro is quite small so I recommend a reservation! Loved our quiet private table. The hostess was friendly! The bartender was also our waitress. Very accommodating and helped us thru the limited menu! We chose the appetizers she recommended - shrimp escargot! It was good not great! I think they use a commercial farm raised shrimp not gulf shrimp and hence the four stars! Pic enclosed. We chose the fresh catch of the day - snapper seasoned with CARIBBEAN spices! It was fabulous! Came out hot and timely. Finally we ordered a specialty martini which enjoyed. Only reason I'm giving this a one star is because of our amazing hostess. We were recommended this restaurant by a local and couldn't be more disappointed with our experience. Bartenders were rude, stuck up, and I sat for 20 minutes waiting for water and my bill. Cocktail and wine list are spot on! Surprised that one of our favorite wines is offered only by the glass-Cakebread Chardonnay. Our Street Corn Guacamole appetizer was delicious and the option of a GF chip made it perfect! Risotto was perfect; Tuna and two fish of the day specials (Salmon and Wahoo) were perfectly prepared in addition to wonderful seasoning and veggies. Trashy place. Took my family here and it took roughly 5 min before some folks at the bar started dropping all sorts of cuss words. My 7 year old was horrified and upset. One man at the bar was yelling to a minor that he wanted to buy him Jagermeister shots. Drifters from the parking lot kept staring into the restaurant and also came in and out to fill up their sodas and get water. Service was bad. At no point were we offered to order more drinks. We had to chase the waitress down to get anything. Food was subpar. Crab cake tasted more like breading than crab and the blackened tuna was actually chewy which is bizarre. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. And definitely do not take your kids there. read more

This place was a bit odd, given it has higher end meal choices and food quality, but the bar area was like a college outting. Overall interior had a relaxing vibe though and super clean and inviting for the most part. Overall the waitress was phenominal and friendly, so was the hostess. And the food good but just beware that bar at the front can get loud and if I'm spending $100+ on a meal, I don't really want to hear billy-bob-redneck dropping FBombs at the top of his lungs with half-naked tanked nellie. I say that because one girl kept going to the register area and then back to her stool so it was clear she worked there but was not that night and she was blitzed to the point her bra was 98% out of her shirt, and the guy she was with definitely wasted to where he was cussing and yelling super loud and no one seemed to care. Really cheapened the place. I give it 4 stars still because its not the chef and wait staffs fault that people act like morons in the bar. read more

We had a great time here. The food was some of the best we had on the island and the atmosphere is a good combination between up-scale and relaxed. If you go, PLEASE get the baked brie if you enjoy brie -- the brie is perfectly baked and pairs deliciously well with the green apple (Granny Smith??) slices and the berry jam. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I also highly recommend the lamb chops or lamb shank (when we were there the shank was on special, but the owner talked to us about our meal and said he was thinking about making it a mainstay on the menu). Speaking of the lamb shank, that was my entree and the meat just fell off the bone - I literally ate the entire thing without using my knife. We ate at 3 or 4 up-scale restaurants on our trip and this was among the top 2 (if not the best). Will definitely visit when we are back in town! read more

I think XO is the most underrated place we ate at in St. Thomas. This place isn't on any of the lists or recommended places that I received. And that's a shame because it should be on everyone's list. They had some of the best food on the island. It's pricey but worth it. We had the lasagna and lamb chops for dinner. The flavors were on point. The portions were good. We also had shrimp scargot for an appetizer. It was one of the best things I had during my entire stay!!!! I highly recommend you skip the other places on the list for fancy dinners and go to this place. You can come casual or get dressed up but whatever you do definitely visit this place for dinner! It's also in the center of Red Hook but it's discreetly in a shopping area so you may miss it but it's right across from Duffy's. read more

My family and I are on vacation in St Thomas. We were given A gift certificate to Xo bistro as an anniversary gift. We had reservations for 6 pm. We arrived on time and was seated promptly. The atmosphere was pub like yet cozy. Our waitress informed us of the specials and took our drink orders immediately. For an appetizer we ordered the bruschetta. It came with 5 pieces which was perfect since we are a family of five except my youngest is extremely picky and wouldn't eat it so that left an extra for my other two children to split. Everyone was very pleased with it. For dinner my two boys ordered a flat bread, daughter choose a Ceasar salad. My husband order the NY strip steak which was cooked perfectly. I had the wasabi crusted tuna over wasabi mashed potatoes and loved it. For dessert we decided to all share the bread pudding and butter cakes. Also a bit for all. Service was excellent as well. Super cute place with good food. We had the baked brie, a few drinks, and steak with veggies and mashed potatoes . The baked brie and the raspberry preserves and cranberries were super yummy. Five star lunch. We started with the ceviche. Wifey got the crab cake appetizer as an entree, and I got the Thai chicken salad made into a wrap. The ceviche was delicious. Tasted very fresh and well balanced flavors. The crab cakes are done well. They are a good ratio of crab meat and breading. The Thai salad wrap was also very good. It comes with three sauces, a peanut sauce, a sweet chili type sauce, and sriracha with sesame seeds. The wrap also has varying textures which was nice. I would do it again. I'm sure dinner is on point too based on the lunch experience. read more

Always make it a point to here while on the rock. Wine selection is outstanding and the menu is consistently top notch choice and quality. Easily the best tuna I've had during my entire stay this time. Audrey (?) the bartender is very talented so be sure to try her original drink involving strawberry- rhubarb, either as a martini style or on the rocks. Delicious. The place does get busy so get there early or be prepared to wait. When full, the noise level is a problem for table conversations. There is nothing to dampen the sounds so it's like eating dinner inside a speaker. read more

Tonight we went to XO Bistro because of the reviews on here. This was by far the worst restaurant we've experienced since we been on the island. Initially they told us the wait would be almost 2 hours, which is understandable I guess... i get it... Its a Saturday night and apparently a popular restaurant. Finally get called to say that out table was ready and initially the hospitality was fine. Where the ball dropped I have no clue. We never got a server until after 10-12 min we asked for one. The hostess finally asked did anyone bring us bread and take our drink order when you know damn well we a sitting at an empty table! We finally got bread, and drinks, as well as ordered an appetizer with the hostesses. Again, i had to ask who was out sever in order to get our entree order taking. Finally, after about almost an hour or longer the food came out and that was as sub par as the customer service we have been receiving in this establishment! The shrimp linguine was salty and my significant other said his lamb chops were bland. After asking for the check, even though we were still trying to pick off our plate, one of the servers tried to take his lamb chops as if he wasn't still eating! It seemed once we asked for the check they were trying to rush us out! Meanwhile the table next to us had been sitting there for more than 3 hours! So My word of advice to XO bistro, please do a crash course in customer service and hospitality read more

We came here for a fancy dinner and came in early (by 7 the place had a line and no real outdoor seating so make a reservation). They had a great happy hour but the red wine in the sangria had a funky aftertaste. The cocktail menu was insane and we really enjoyed all the other cocktails we tried. We started with the crab cakes, which were more bready then crabby. For our meals we tried the special of the crab stuffed salmon, chicken gnocchi soup, and the caesar with grilled chicken. We did love our meals, with the soup being great and even the simple chicken on top of the salad being great. Overall the prices were higher then most of the other options in the area and they were a bit weird when we asked about the gratuity being added (our waitress confirmed yes but another seemed like we just unearthed some secret they didn't want us to know). Food tastes like banquet hall food. I ordered catch of the day (salmon). The veggies tasted like a frozen bag of veggies with way too much olive oil. The salmon was bland. Husband ordered the ribeye, he liked the blue cheese sauce. The drinks were great, our server was the bartender as well. Friendly customer service, not too long wait time. Relaxed atmosphere. Really quaint place in Red Hook. Got lucky and showed up without a reservation on Valentine's and got seated right away! Drinks- great. Had a strawberry vodka and a honey apricot whiskey. Strip steak was outstanding. Cooked medium to perfection and the meat was so flavorful. Potatoes and asparagus were great too. Wife had the mahi mahi which was just good, nothing spectacular. Had drinks and dessert the night before and loved the vibe even though it was super busy, so decided to have dinner the following night. Dinner was extremely disappointing. The food took over 50 minutes to come out and wasn't even hot. For the price of the meal ($38) it was also a very small portion (see picture). One of the dishes came without any sauce because we requested no tomatoes. We were told they couldn't serve the sauce without tomatoes...How hard is it to make a white wine butter sauce on the fly? Both fish were EXTREMELY over cooked, granted one was requested well done but the other was supposed to be medium. Maybe it was because we are "locals" the staff didn't seem to care. Wow! Loved this place. It was busy and the hostess was able to squeeze us in before a reservation that was due in an hour. The salmon was amazing with an herb crust, roasted garlic mash was swapped out instead of plantain mash, and sautéed veggies. The ribeye was an espresso rub and Gorgonzola cream sauce that was divine. Served with the roasted garlic mash, and sautéed veggies which were zucchini and yellow squash. The espresso rub was a bit uncertain, but it was surprisingly amazing. Also the cut of the ribeye was on point, the flavor and tenderness, great marbleing! The drinks, as with everywhere on the island, are heavy handed, can't go wrong with this place, and surprisingly the cost was $6-8 cheaper on average for your high end steak and seafood entrees. This place is a must if you come to St. Thomas. read more
