As a visitor, we had a wonderful dinner at XO Bistro. Seating is limited so you might want to make reservations and leave the AMEX at home because they don't take it. Our service was wonderful, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was dark and sexy. We ordered wine, baked brie, Thai chicken salad and a prime rib dinner that could have easily been 2 meals. I begged the hubby to take some prime rib home for steak and eggs tomorrow morning...but alas, he ate the whole thing in one sitting. It was wonderful and we would totally come back. read more

The server and greeter are both rude and disrectful. I even found a small roach in my food and was still charge for the roach food. I even asked for a manager and the rude server said I am the manager. I complaints about my bill and the charges and the rude server never acknowledge the roach and the charges for the roach food. I felt disrespected and belittle. I never experienced this kind of behaviors. The owners need to look into this and fix the problem. read more

A small place inside a small mall plaza, but the food and service was good. Our favorites was the lasagna - a HUGE portion and very tasty. Also, from the specials, was the swordfish with a side of veggies and rice. It was delicious. The apps - caprese salad was good. The crab cakes were ok - not too much crabmeat. Waitress was great. I ordered medium well salmon. Unfortunately it was over cooked. I was so appreciative when asked how did I want my salmon prepared. Only to be told that was the last salmon and since it was a smaller piece it cooked faster. So disappointed. XO is one of my favorite spots, not happy. Don't know if I'll be back anytime soon. For all the hype, the long wait the must have reservations, I was expecting to be wowed. The inside is smaller then imagined. Dim lighting, a bar and tables. The potatoes that come with the chicken were the star of that plate the lasagna was a pretty big size and comes with garlic bread. We stopped here for a nice birthday dinner when we were in town last year. For reference, we were staying up the street, so Red Hook businesses were all within walking distance to us. This is probably the most upscale restaurant in Red Hook and it's in a strip mall. The decor was dark, a bit outdated, but perfectly fine for a night out. The menu also seemed a bit dated, but I was able to find a good steak dish I wanted and the birthday boy chose a seared tuna entree special. The food was good, not spectacular. It scratched that itch of getting a nicer meal out in a super low-key area of the island. But the price vs quality wasn't great. It was over-priced and the food would be forgettable if it were in any big city. Service was meh, to be honest. The girls behind the bar seemed more interested in working the cocktailing crowd vs the dinner crowd. Then again, we were sitting the at the bar. read more

I'm going average on this one... it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good. The hostess was sweet enough to fit us in without a reservation on Valentine's Day, that was very nice. I ordered the mahi mahi fish plate that came with risotto and veggies, the fish was a little overcooked for my liking, it wouldn't have been a bad thing since it was topped with crab and sauce, but it all lacked flavor, the veggies were also over cooked and straight mush, the risotto was bland. I rarely use salt, but this entire dish needed it. It wasn't a horrible dish, I just wish they would have spent a little more effort putting it together. My hubby ordered the New York steak plate that came with mashed potatoes and asparagus, the steak was perfectly cooked and tasty, especially the sauce on top of it, the mashed potatoes were very good and had a light blue cheese taste, which was different, but good, the asparagus were nicely charred but had an inconsistent overly salty taste in certain areas. Amazing! My husband and I walked in literally starving because we traveled all day. The hostess got us a table quickly and was super nice. I waitress Amber was fantastic! Super friendly and knew we were starving so she rushed our order. Not only was the staff amazing but the food! We ordered the Baked Brie for appetizer and it melts perfectly in your mouth.
