Well the service we received was very disappointing. Our waiter Andrew seemed like have more important tables than ours. He would just drop the drinks and walk away when we were all ready to place orders. Even when we asked for to go with bags he just dropped it and walked off with attitude. Now the ambience was nice and cool. Not too loud or crowded. We were invited for a friends birthday dinner but honestly this is more of a date spot not for a group of 8. Food: I got the Alaskan Salmon- now the portion as you can see in the picture is a VERY small piece of salmon but actually tasted very good and was cooked perfectly. The rice was cooked well the sauce from the salmon went great with it. The bok choy wasn't cooked all the way but it was fine. Someone ordered the chicken which came half burnt she didn't want to complain and asked for a sauce to add some moisture to it (the sauce never came). this restaurant was by far the best experience in dining we had on St. Thomas. When you first arrive, you walk into a dingy hall and A beach type bar and you don't think you're in the right place. Look to the left and up the stairs there's a high-end beautifully acquainted restaurant. It's open air and sits right on the water. It has a nice bar and service was really nice and super friendly. It took a while to get some cocktails, but that is not uncommon in all the places in St. Thomas. We had some delicious dinners without a complaint. My daughter had a Wahoo special. She loved every bite. The wife had pork chops, which she raved about. I had the tuna, which was outstanding and a very nice size portion might I add. To start we shared bang bang shrimp. Although spicy, I thought there was too much batter and not enough shrimp. Still the overall experience was so nice. It overcame the appetizer. This place was incredible. I have never been to a high quality restaurant on the shoreline of anywhere. It had a really nice view, and the dining rooftop was really pretty. I nearly matched with the napkins. Their table lighting was pretty cool. Their bar was really nice with their Rattan light fixtures and many of them. We sat down pretty close to the view, but after awhile, it was pitch dark. Food came out sporadically, first up was the burratta with flatbread seasoned pretty well. It came with a liquid truffle, which I couldn't taste. The Caesar Salad was something we shared. It had the elements of a salad and toasted manchego cheese bites, mini squash petals and another sort of flower. My fiancée had the ceviche with an assortment of chips from potato to plantain. I was pretty surprised by that. Her main dish was really pretty. A Chilean seabass on a tall bed of rice and thinly sliced veggies with edible flower petals. My ribeye was by far the best steak I have ever had in my life. From first to last bite, it was better than steaks I've had from Ruth's Chris and Fleming's. The cost of this steak was worth every copper penny. I'm glad I called for the chimichurri and the delicious red bellpepper mix to sit aside. The sauce was good to dip some pieces of my steak into, but it was amazing alone, the way it was seasoned. The fries were a bit of a let down. There was too much Manchego on it. Had a great time at Sea Salt! We spent our first and second to last night at Sea Salt while visiting St. Thomas. We sat at the bar both nights as we didn't have a reservation and had a great experience. Service was great both visits. Our first night was a Saturday and they were busy- we totally expected to wait but our bartender was friendly, quick, and personable. I ordered wine and my fiancée was doing beer. We decided on small plates the first night to try multiple dishes. Fish bites, the burrata, Caesar salad, and the bao buns. All were delicious!! Our second night we did the goat cheese salad and the short rib. Amazing- it's weird to remember a salad but it really hit the spot. Our bartender the second night was equally as attentive and personable. I'd recommend Sea Salt to anyone in the red hook/ sapphire beach area. Such a gem! read more

Sea Salt is THE restaurant to visit while in St. Thomas. It is classy, lively, and serves amazing food by a wonderful staff. Oh and did I mention it is beautiful inside?! I ate here on a recent trip, with 9 of my closest friends haha, and from beginning to end this place delivered in all cylinders. We had a reservation ahead of time so arrival and seating was a breeze. And what a great table we had - their dining room is "outdoors" but nicely covered and so well decorated and arranged that you feel as though you are inside - with ocean views (although it was night when we were there....). The menu has an offering that makes you want to return again and again (to try everything) and everything our group ordered was throughly enjoyed. Would I, a person of large appetite, prefer larger portions? Sure. Of course. But were they ample given the place and setting? Yes. We saved Sea Salt as our last meal of our trip and I'm so glad we did because it really put a great capstone on everything. Even better, we ran into a local restaurant owner with whom we made friends a few days before - we felt like locals out for a nice meal! Well done, Sea Salt. Keep up the GREAT work! read more

The service was impeccable the location, beautiful, and the ambience was everything you dreamed for then let's mention the food totally delicious. My Chilean Seabass was done to perfection. My oysters were chilled and had delicious island sauces that complement them perfectly. Birthday Dinner Success Wanted to go somewhere special for my birthday so we gave Sun & Sea a try. Very impressed both our meals were fabulous!! The few downsides were the no see ums biting but the hostess had some bug spray we applied and voila they were gone. The appetizer of lobster pops was meh..over cooked I guess. We had a great dinner at Sea Salt, on our first night in St. Thomas. Just walking in, the view was incredible. Service was outstanding. The cocktails were delicious, and the wine list impressive for an island restaurant. Appetizers of ceviche and lobster lollipops were excellent. She had the whole redfish and I the cioppino, and we enjoyed them both. WOW!!! Such a beautiful view... sophisticated, yet fun! We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated in a nice comfortable lounge while we waited for our table (took about 2 minutes... lol). Andy was our server and he was phenomenal, very attentive and even offered up some wonderful suggestions! We started our meal with lobster lollipops and a couple of cocktails... the Private Jet and the Sapphire Saturn. For our meal, we shared the Chilean Sea Bass... I have never tasted anything so silky smooth, yet beautifully seared! After dinner, we opted in for more cocktails (instead of dessert). Awful food paired with the worst service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We had high hopes but our food came out extremely overcooked. We ordered 2.5LBS fresh lobster, ribeye steak, and children's chicken. The chicken was burnt, lobster & steak both severely overcooked. We ordered the steak medium rare and it came out well done. The lobster was so cooked, you could not get the meat out. Our server even agreed with us after we voiced concerns (if you can call her a server). She came to our table for the order, check on our food and give us a check. Nothing in-between... not to mention everyone around us who ordered first were receiving their meals before us! We truly think this place had potential but the waitress is to blame. We have suspicions she left our food under the heat lamps so long it all continued to cook. We had a toddler with us, so we couldn't have them take our food back. He needed to get to bed rather than wait an additional 2HRS for our food. A manager was not sent over to apologize or check on us after voicing our concerns. Instead we were ignored. Absolutely terrible considering we were paying over $350 once you add in our bottle of wine & bottled water. read more

Avoid at all costs honestly - Was truly excited to try this place, especially with a service animal. Called a day prior and the manager fit us in for 8:00 at the bar - Once we arrived things went downhill fast - The hostess was confused and we ultimately were not seated until 8:35, drinks arrived 30 minutes later with our appetizers and salad arriving (together) some 10 minutes after that - main dish arrived around 9:30 by then we were tired. We only ordered two drinks, a salad, oysters (which were ruined by the terrible preparations offered) and a smoked sashimi dish. Things went off the rails when we decided to order the "shareable" $80 "16oz short rib" only to get into a disagreement with the "manager" as to its size and overall value once it arrived and I called him over. This discussion (which shouldn't have been one frankly) left me felt talked down to, and the managers opinion that we didn't get the "runt of the litter" from the kitchen (yes he actually said that), was that there was simply no problem from his perspective. It was a poor handling of a customer's complaint at best, insulting at worst. So much for the "customer is always right". Adding to the debacle, he commented he would "check back in" to potentially adjust the bill once we decided to taste the item - as if that would sway things.....Yeah all set. We asked for our check immediately and to-go box, then waited yet *another* 10 minutes while they ran around forgetting about us (they ended up reminding each-other of our To-go box and who forgot to give it to us). Ended up leaving around 9:30 with a $150 bill and an empty stomach. The restaurant at the time wasn't fully at-capacity/staffed to be clear - I personally hate leaving yelp reviews, yet I felt compelled to write this tonight as I was so disgusted with our overall poor experience. read more

The staff remembered that I told them that it was my Mom's birthday so they told her Happy Birthday and had a birthday note signed by all the staff at the table when we sat down. This is a St. Thomas 5 and hands down the nicest restaurant we found in 10 days of eating out on the island. Anywhere else in the world I give it a 4, and while it was very good, there is no one dish I'm dreaming of going back for, especially given the price point. If you love seafood it might be a 5 for you. Service was very impressive given they had only opened about a week before we arrived. There were no soft opening kinks to work out, at least none that we could see. One server in particular feels straight out of a Michelin restaurant, and there is just something so special about being taken care of by a real pro. The space is beautiful and the vibe felt like a trendy city restaurant, except that it's more laid back because everyone is casual and no one is trying to be "seen". That said we DID go back 3 times because we stayed within walking distance! Here is what we tried: - Seafood ciopini (spelling?) was tasty but the SAUCE is the star. That sauce was single best thing we ate. They should serve bread with it. We paid extra for a side of bread to scoop it up, which is annoying for an $80 dish. - Bone in pork chop was my favorite dish, because I am a carnivore. Double cut and very thick, it was juicy even though I needed it well done due to my pregnancy. Once again the sauce was the difference maker and I loved the panzanella. - Fish nuggets were not my favorite since I am not a fish person, very lightly fried and very little sauce. - Chipotle white bean dip was as expected; nothing special. It was not served with enough dippers to eat all of the dip so again we had to pay extra for more bread. Comes with LOTS of olives! That part I liked. - The side of carrots is billed on the menu with lots of ingredients, like habanero, but at the end of the day they are just roasted carrots. But the side of spinach I liked! Nice and garlicky. - Candied papaya and vanilla ice cream is nice for a light desert. - Guava donuts were my favorite! Rich and bordering on decadent without overpowering. For two entrees, two sides, two glasses of wine, and one dessert the bill was $169 plus tip. read more
